This 1954 Japanese epic samurai drama film story takes place in 1586, during the Sengoku period of Japanese history. It follows the story of a village of desperate farmers who hire seven rōnin (masterless samurai) to combat bandits who will return after the harvest to steal their crops.

Subject: Dog eat Dog & the Fascist ‘Solution’: Revolution from Above.

January 20, 2022

Dear Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,

Returning to Barrington Moore, Jr’s study, Social Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy: Lord and Peasant in the making of the Modern World (1966), we now look at the Japanese variant of commercial and industrial modernization, which led to the Japanese fascist experience.

In the first of four sections, Moore begins his inquiry with the rubric: “Revolution from Above: The Response of the Ruling Classes to Old and New Threats.”

During the seventeenth century in Japan, China, and Russia, new governments came to power that in each country put an end to a prolonged period of internal disorder and fighting. In Russia and China the establishment of peace and order was the beginning, to the extent that we can ever speak of beginnings in history, of a long process that culminated in peasant revolutions. The agrarian bureaucracies in these two countries inhibited the growth of a class of independent merchants and manufacturers. Oversimplifying somewhat, we can say that, in the absence of a bourgeois revolution there came a peasant revolution that in turn opened the road for totalitarian modernization. Japanese development, on the other hand, followed quite a different course, closer to that of Germany. Though mercantile influences undermined the agrarian order, there was here too, as in Germany, nothing that deserves the name of a successful bourgeois revolution. And the Japanese managed to contain and deflect the peasant discontents in such a way as to prevent a peasant revolution. By the end of the third decade in the twentieth century the outcome showed a very strong resemblance to European fascism.

What explains the difference between the course of modernization in Japan and that in both Russia and China? At once feudalism leaps to mind as a possible explanation. Feudalism was a weak memory in both Russia and China if indeed it can be said to have existed at all, a matter of dispute among scholars. The Japanese version of feudalism, on the other hand, remained vigorous well into the nineteenth century. Since Japan is also the only Asiatic country that had become a substantial industrial power by the third decade of the twentieth century, the hypothesis that feudalism provided the key becomes very attractive through the wide range of history that it would help to render more orderly and intelligible. Insofar as feudalism in Japan helped to make it possible for one section of the old ruling classes to detach itself from the prevailing order and carry out a revolution from above to make the social changes necessary for industrial advance, it does constitute an important  part of the explanation. Nevertheless it is necessary to see why this was possible and precisely how the whole process of modernization was related to feudalism as it existed in Japan.

Both in explaining and assessing this transformation it is essential to remind ourselves of the limitations of our present historical perspective. A hundred years from now, or perhaps in much less time, the partial nature of Japan’s social and industrial revolution, especially the very limited ‘revolution ‘ of the Imperial Restoration in 1868, may seem to be the essence of Japan’s tragedy. It is worth recalling here that modern historians are far from sanguine about Bismarck’s success in combining old and new in Germany. On the other hand, contemporary Chinese society, despite severe difficulties and setbacks, shows signs of moving ahead. By learning from Soviet mistakes, China could conceivably surpass Russia. Naturally it is impossible to anticipate future perspectives. But as least we can avoid the parochialism of taking our own for granted. It is foolish to treat the Japanese response to the challenge of the modern world as a success and the Chinese one as failure.

With these cautions in mind let us try to discover what characteristics in premodern Japanese society played a significant part in the course of modernization. Both vertical and horizontal fissures appear as the old order eroded, and both were perhaps equally important. Furthermore, there were significant differences between Western and Japanese feudalism. To say this is to remain dreadfully abstract; it is necessary to plunge into the actual workings of the society over a specific period of time in order to see what these observations actually mean.

Through his victory in the battle of Sekigahara in the year 1600 Tokugawa Ieyasu, one of the most famous rulers in Japanese history, put an end to the period of warring barons and inaugurated an era of internal peace. In its formal political aspects this regime is known to historians as the Tokugawa Shōgunate, lasted until the Restoration of the Emperor in 1868. The leading political idea of the Shōgunate was a static one, the maintenance of peace and order’. Society was sharply divided into rulers and ruled. The latter were chiefly peasants, whom the ruling warrior classes regarded mainly as instruments to work the land and produce taxes for their benefit. In return, when the system was working well, the peasants received the benefits of at least a modicum of ‘economic security and political justice. As much as possible, through a variety of devices ranging from severe sumptuary edicts to the sealing-off of Japan from nearly all contacts with the outside world between 1639 and the advent of Commodore Perry in 1854, the rulers attempted to repress any influences that might undermine the prevailing order. The merchants in towns, to whom we shall come in due course, became in time one of the main sources of disruption and worry to the rulers.

Within the ruling groups there were important grades and distinctions. The Emperor was a shadowy and secluded figure, able only in the end to convert prestige into real power – for others. The Shōgun held the reins of authority in a system that resembled  the absolutism of the Roi Soleil much more than the decentralized feudal institutions of earlier’ European history. Together with various branches of the Tokugawa family and its immediate vassals, the Shōgun  possessed between one-fourth and one-fifth of the agricultural land of the country, deriving the major part of his resources from this source. To manage his domain lands, he appointed about forty intendents with regular salaries. Thus, as also in Western Europe at the same time, there was a strong bureaucratic infusion in Japanese feudalism.

Certain points in the Tokugawa system of authority are worth noticing. First, it represented an attempt to impose a degree of central bureaucratic authority on top of a fragile feudal polity where it was important I play off the great fiefs against each other. Secondly, this fragmentation was never wholly overcome. When the Tokugawa polity ran into increasing difficulty in the middle of the nineteenth century, some of the most important vertical cleavages were the same as those plastered over by the system established in 1600.

Directly beneath the Shōgun in rank came the small body of great lords and daimy ō. There were 194 of them in 1614 and only 266 immediately before the Restoration of 1868. At the latter date the largest fief was registered as producing 1,022,700 koku of rice. The average was about 70,000 koku.

Beneath the daimy ō was the main body of samurai, or warriors, among whom there were vide variations in power and wealth; Together with their families they were estimated to have numbered around 2,000,000 persons or about one-sixteenth of the total population on the eve of the Restoration. Formally, they were military retainers of the daimy ō and received from them an annual stipend in rice. The Tokugawa Shōgunate, by making them recipients of stipends, cut them off from independent bases of power in the countryside and eliminated at one stroke one of the chief sources of political instability of the preceding era. At the same time, through the imposition of peace, the Shōgunate deprived the samurai of any real function in Japanese society and contributed to the creation of a group – the impoverished samurai – that played a key role in its eventual overthrow.

The days had long since come to an end when the soldier in time of peace had farmed his own land. As early at 1587 Hideyoshi, the great general who helped to found the Tokugawa regime had proclaimed that all farmers were to hand in their weapons. The measure was intended not only to eliminate the danger of an armed peasantry but to emphasize the clarity and stability of the class distinctions. Subsequently the right to wear a sword became the chief distinction between a samurai and a wealthy peasant.

When away from the Shōgun’s court the daimy ō, or overlord, lived surrounded by his samurai, or retainers, in a castle town. Few peasant villages were more than twenty miles away from such a town. The castle towns were the local centers through which the warrior class extracted from the peasantry, in the form of taxes, the economic surplus that supported i. Essentially the tax-collecting administration consisted of two sets of officials: those who manned the central bureaus in the castle or nearby town and the district magistrates scattered about the fief itself. In peaceful times at any rate the system worked with remarkably little use of force.

. . .

Such, then, in brief outline, was the regime established by the Tokugawa Shogunate. As we have seen, it was a relatively centralized and tightly controlled form of feudalism, so much so that one older writer refers to it as a police state, a designation that no doubt seemed much more appropriate in 1900 than it would after Hitler and Stalin. Though this designation now seems inappropriate, the Tokugawa system was not one out of which was likely to grow the theory and practice of free society as known in modern Western civilization. Earlier Japanese feudalism, too, lacked features that in the West made important contributions to this growth. In the feudal bond uniting lord and vassal, the element of contract was very weak in Japan; the elements of loyalty and duty to superiors, on the other hand, received heavy emphasis. Western discussions of the contrast make the Japanese feudal bond seem more primitive, less objective and rational than its European counterpart. It rested more on unwritten custom and ceremonial observance; it had the character of a fictive kinship relationship, something very widely used in Japanese society, and relied less than in Europe on written and oral contract to specify individual duties or privileges. Indigenous trends in this direction received further reinforcement from the importation of Confucian philosophy which attained almost the position of an established religion.

By the time Commodore Perry’s ships appeared in 1854, the Tokugawa system had suffered substantial decay. The decline of the old order, together with attempts to preserve the privileges of the agrarian élite, had already given rise to some of the social forces that eventually culminated in the regime that dropped its fateful bombs on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

The factors that produced this decay and rebirth were many and complicated. Their exact nature and relative importance will probably long remain a matter of dispute among specialists. Yet for our purposes it may not be too misleading to suggest that essentially they dissolve into two: peace and luxury. Peace permitted a commercial way of life to emerge not only in the towns but also in the country though kept under close supervision, commercial influences eroded much of the feudal edifice. Just as the Tokugawa system may strike the comparative historian as z species somewhere between the centralized agrarian bureaucracy of China and the much looser feudalism of medieval Europe, so does the capacity of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Japanese society to contain the divisive and destructive effects of commerce fall somewhere between these two extremes.

To a considerable extent peace and luxury radiated out from the center of the Tokugawa polity. Just as Louis XIV compelled his nobles to reside at Versailles, so did the Shōgun require the daimy ō to spend specified periods of time in the capital Edo. Up to a point the effects were similar in both cases. By encouraging various forms of luxurious display the Shōgun weakened the position of his nobles and simultaneously gave a fillip to the trading classes in the towns. The expenses of the daimy ō increased as they had to maintain a residence both at home and in Edo. For their establishment in the capital and the costs of travel for themselves and a large retinue they had to pay in specie, which they had no right to coin. These expenses put a heavy demand on the finances of many fiefs. To pay for them, daimy ō generally had to ship thier excess rice and other local products to the market, using the services of the merchant. Often the feudal aristocrat became dependent on the merchant for credit, while the merchant, on the other hand, depended on the daimy ō  for political protection.

The saumurai’s economic position, dependent on the daimy ō, apparently deteriorated under the Tokugawa, especially after the middle of their reign. The evidence, however, is not conclusive. One of the ways in which the daimy ō endeavored to meet their own expenses was by cutting the stipends of their samurai. Cutting the stipend became possible only in Tokugawa times. Secured by the peace and authority of the Shōgun, the daimy ō no longer needed to rely so heavily on their vassals and could afford to impose this sacrifice.

Whatever the actual economic situation of the samurai, there can be no doubt that their status in Japanese society was deteriorating. A good income in rice was for a saimurai merely a material base for the life of a warrior. Under the enforced peace of the Tokugawa, the warrior had no obviously important social function to perform. In the meantime, other forms of prestige, based on the wealth of the merchants, were beginning to compete with the martial virtues. The old ethic was being undermined, though as yet no new one had taken its place. Signs of these changes began to appear as early as the beginning of  the eighteenth century.

The loss of their function as warriors, together with the inroads of commerce, place a severe strain on the loyalty of many samurai, setting them adrift in both a psychological and a literal sense.(pp.228-235)

. . .

As a result, many warriors simply cut their ties and became rōnin, wandering masterless men, often ready for any violent enterprise, a goup that contributed to the turbulence of the latter part of the Tokugawa period. Chōshū, the fief that played the key par in the Imperial Restoration of 1868, was a great refuge of the rōnin. The notion of getting rid of the ‘barbarian’ Westerns had a strong appeal for these men. Many opposed the opening of new ports, because the ‘expulsion of the barbarians would then be hopeless. . . .(p.236)

. . .

The merchants (chōnin) were the immediate if not the ultimate source of these corrosive influences on the old order. . . . In very general terms we may characterize the relationship between the warrior aristocracy and the merchants as one of symbiotic antagonism. The daimy ō or samurai depended on the merchant to turn rice and other agricultural products produced by the peasants into cash and to supply them with many of the essentials and most of the amenities for their aristocratic style of life. The merchant, on the other hand, depended on the warrior aristocrat for political tolerance and protection in order to engage in trade, a degrading and generally parasitic way of life according to the warrior’s code of ethics. Without by any means throwing off the feudal restrictions, or even attempting to do so, the merchants substantially improved their position in this relationship until by the end of the period they had become the dominant partner.

One consequence was that the rigid barriers between classes upon which the Tokugawa system depended for much of its stability, showed serious signs of breaking down. Warriors became merchants and vice versa.

. . .

Not until after the beginning of the eighteenth century did the feudal rulers realize that the merchants were in any sense a threat to their power. By then it was too late, even though the economic advance of the merchants had largely spent its force. Indeed, recent writings give the impression that the feudal rulers might have been able to contain this threat and maintain some form of equilibrium, even if one rather different from early Tokugawa days, for quite some time if Western battleships had not made their ominous appearance on the Japanese scene. At any rate the feudal aristocracy had a number of weapons they could and did use against the merchants: outright confiscation, forced loans (that became increasingly frequent toward the end of the Tokugawa regime), and refusal to pay debts. The effect of these measures, and especially confiscation, was in a latter part of the era simply to make the merchants more reluctant to grant loans. Since the aristocracy was heavily though not universally dependent on these loans, it proved impossible to crush the merchants.

The stranglehold that many merchants obtained from time to time on sections of the nobility produced understandable resentment among the latter and other articulate segments of Japanese society.  . . . As already indicated, the Shōgun’s government from time to time tired to put these or similar ideas into practice. In this clash between the decaying military’ aristocracy and an emerging commercial interest, we may notice the beginnings of that anticapitalist outlook which was to be so prominent in the Japanese variant of fascism.

Though the conflict between the feudal aristocracy and the merchants constitutes a very significant aspect of the background to later developments, it would be seriously misleading to stress this aspect alone. Unlike Western Europe, Japan did not develop self-governing towns with charters that expressed in concrete terms their political and legal independence of the surrounding feudal authority. To be sure, there were some promising starts in this direction in the beginning phases of the Tokugawa regime. But, as the regime consolidated itself in a form of centralized feudalism, it cut short such tendencies. This ‘refeudalization,’ as it is sometimes called, imposed strict limitations on the merchants, carefully enclosing them in the feudal order, where, so the rulers hoped, they could do harm. The closing of the country, through the edicts of 1633-1641, had the effect of limiting the initiative of the merchants, partly through removing the stimulus of foreign contacts and competition. As we have already noticed, the main thrust of mercantile development had spent much of its force by about a hundred years after imposition of the pax Tokugawa. After that, there was some tendency to settle down and enjoy the fruits of enterprise, as well as to cling to tried and proven methods of business.

For our purposes there is no need to discuss in any further detail the mechanism of political controls over the merchants that the Tokugawa rulers devised. It is enough to note that they were rather effective, particularly in the early period, and that, as a result the merchants’ rise to economic power was ‘almost an underground movement.’ These political controls made the Japanese merchant a dependent figure in the society, even if there were occasions when his wrath could make a daimy ō tremble.

There were, of course, significant variations. The merchants of Ōsaka were less dependent than those of the capital, Edo. And, in the latter part of the period, the provincial merchants showed themselves less dependent on feudal relationships for their materials and markets than did the older urban monopolist.

It is also true in some of the arts and in the lighter pleasures of life the merchants developed some distinctive social traits and tastes that recall the pre-Puritan aspects of mercantile culture in the West. But this merchant culture, that reached the height of it flowering by the beginning of the eighteenth century, was no real threat in itself to the Tokugawa system. Essentially this tolerated licentiousness, mainly restricted to a particular quarter of the capital, served as a safety valve. If anything, it helped to preserver rather than destroy the ancient régime.

For all these reasons Japanese merchants of the Tokugawq period were suffused with the feudal ethic. They completely failed to develop any intellectual standpoint with which to oppose the traditional outlook.

. . .

The failure of the Japanese merchant class to develop a critical intellectual standpoint comparable to that produced in the West cannot, in my opinion, be explained through psychological factors or some peculiar efficacy of the Japanese value system. … The answer to this question is historical: the conditions under which the Japanese merchant class grew up from the seventeenth century onwards. The isolation of the country, the symbiotic relationship between the warrior and the merchant, and the long political dominance of the warrior would seem to constitute the essential elements in any explanation of the merchants’ limited horizon.

A large portion of the wealth that flowed into merchant coffers was originally pumped out of the peasants by the warrior aristocracy. Subsequently we shall have to discuss in some detail the factors that prevented the Japanese peasant from becoming a revolutionary force on the scale of their Russian and Chinese counterparts. Here the discussion will be confined to the peasant question as the dominant classes perceived it and as it impinged on their interests.

With their taxes, then, the peasant mass supported the rest of the population, as is largely the case in any agrarian state. Articulate circles within the warrior aristocracy seized upon this fact to claim that the peasant was the foundation of a healthy society – meaning, of course, by ‘healthy’ one in which the samurai were dominant. This is the characteristic rhetoric of an agrarian aristocracy threatened by commercial interests. Admiration for the peasantry was an oblique criticism of the merchant. The much quoted cynical rhymed couplet, ‘Peasants are like sesame seeds; the more you press, the more comes out,’ comes closer to describing the samurai’s real relationship to the peasantry. As Sir George Sansom remarks dryly, the Tokugawa had a high regard for agriculture, but very little for agriculturists.

In the early 1860s the peasant question became intertwined with the problem of creating a modern army. The solution to this question affected not only Japan’s independence as a sovereign state but the very character of the society. In essence the government had to decide whether or not to arm the peasant in order to defend Japan against the foreign enemy. In1863 it sounded out its higher administrative officials about the wisdom of this step. Revealing excerpts from the replies reflect two main concerns: that the daimy ō in the fiefs might turn this force against the Tokugawa  government and that the peasants themselves might be a source of danger to the established order; Both fears turned out to be justified. (pp.237-241)

We will continue this presentation of Barrington Moore, Jr’s discussion of the social origins of dictatorship in Japan in our next bulletin.

The 14 + items below serve as testimony for the chaotic period we are now entering, with the debacle of ruling-class legitimacy, replacing reason with rapport de force – often in the form of money. The faux amis are plentiful in this authoritarian environment of "false scarcity," and vigilance can certainly be recommended.

We move now from a discussion of the historic underpinnings of fascism in Japan to the bourgeois capitalist culture of western nations now under attack by counter-revolutionary capitalist interests, professing their "revolution from above" to be a progressive force.

Hey Professor:

I'm in Washington State.  This isn't a vote.  This is a WAC (Washington Administrative Code) which is defined as:  "Regulations of executive branch agencies are issued by authority of statutes. Like legislation and the Constitution, regulations are a source of primary law in Washington State. The WAC codifies the regulations and arranges them by subject or agency. The online version of the WAC is updated twice a month. Copies of the WAC as they existed each year since 2004 are available in the WAC archive."

One way to fight these would be to file a Rule Change Petition which would require them to convene a special hearing to discuss the suggested changes.  The idea is that we make suggestions that force them to talk about (publicly) things they don't want to have to address.  There are some very smart people in this fight who, I'm sure, could come up with some interesting suggestions that would make the WA BOH run in fear.  Can you help me get this idea out there?

The form to use is:  https://sboh.wa.gov/Portals/7/Doc/Meetings/2020/01-08/Tab07b-HPVHuffmanPetition.pdf  Note that this form is currently prefilled by someone wanting to demand our kids get the HPV vaccine to attend school.  The fields will need to be overwritten.

Can you imagine if hundreds or thousands of us filed these petitions?  It would be EPIC!

Communing with Albert Camus in 2022. “The Past Two Years Have Been So Absurd, The Covid Propaganda So Consuming”

By Edward Curtin

The person with whom we are all most intimate is oneself.  It’s just the way it is.  I don’t mean that in some oracular Delphic “know thyself” way, or in any deep psychoanalytical sense, but very simply.  We have our own thoughts and feelings that come and go like breaths, most of which never get expressed in words.  Together with our actions, including speech, they make up our lives.  We try to anchor them with photos and memorabilia and lots of things, but time has no mercy; it sweeps us all away. Then our things remain for a while until they become a burden to those who remain, and then the things go. As the song reminds us, “We come and go like a ripple on a stream.”

For most people, their congeries of living experiences evaporate as quickly as soap bubbles in a pan of dish water.  This is also true for the social and personal facts of our lives that leave but vague traces.  Yet some strange people record them.  They are a small minority, writers being chief among them.  They keep words.  Words unspoken and spoken words.

I have kept notebooks since my mid-twenties.  They sit in cartons in a closet.  They were at first my imaginary friends who never responded.  Maybe I didn’t want them to.  They are still silent, although every once in a while I seem to hear inarticulate sounds coming from the boxes.

US states to host simulated ‘guerilla war’

Residents in two US states were told to watch out for “occasional flares” and mock gunfire as the military gears up for “realistic” combat drills

The US military is set to hold expansive combat drills across North and South Carolina, warning residents that special operations trainees may fire off blank rounds and flares while simulating battle against “guerrilla” forces.

Dubbed ‘Robin Sage’, the “unconventional warfare exercise” will be held between January 22 and February 4 on private land in dozens of counties in the south, the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School said in a statement cited by local media.

The drill will stage a mock fight with a “resistance movement” made up of “guerrilla freedom fighters” in the fictional nation of “Pineland,” the warfare center said, noting they will act as “realistic opposing forces” to the special ops candidates. Robin Sage serves as the final test in the elite Special Forces Qualification Course, an intensive training program for the Army’s Green Berets.

From John Gilmore at Autism Action Network:

NY: Appointed council votes on boosters for healthcare workers this morning, 1/11/22

The New York State Public Health and Health Planning Council will meet this morning and, among other actions, will approve a new regulation requiring Covid shot boosters for healthcare workers. The vote implements an announcement made by Governor Kathy Hochul on January 7.

Like mandates are in place all over the US.

Boosters are over

Now the World Health Organization has waved the white flag on Covid vaccine boosters too.

WHO released a statement about Covid vaccines yesterday. It’s filled with the usual public health jargon and ass-covering, but one line stands out:

a vaccination strategy based on repeated booster doses of the original vaccine composition is unlikely to be appropriate or sustainable.

It’s over, people.

Hhhhmmmm..."Repeat Booster Shots Spur European Warning on Immune-System Risks"...but these same malfeasants on Dec 9th 2021, 4 weeks ago, said boosters WERE needed; what changed?
Hmmmmm, seems some people getting cold feet, yet with hundreds of millions getting the jab, we warned these dangerous people that the vaccines were untested and unsafe...now they get it????

We definitely have to check them, as in "checks and balances."

From Patrick Henningsen:

As desperate public health officials and their mainstream media adjuncts begin to pivot away from their Covid narrative of the last two years, the establishment’s fact-checkers have been deployed to cover-up and ‘debunk’ any reporting or voices which challenge the fraying corporate vaccine doctrine. Also, what’s really going behind the scenes of the climate change campaign and Great Reset? We reveal their plans for a globalist and banker-led take-over, using the ‘green’ agenda as their pretext. All this and much more...

Co-hosts Mike Robinson and Patrick Henningsen, with guests Alex Thomson and Iain Davis, for the mid-week news round-up. Watch:

Breaking: Hostage situation at Colleyville, Texas, synagogue - DPS, SWAT, and FBI on scene --Police began "SWAT operations" at around 11 a.m. at Congregation Beth Israel on the 6100 block of Pleasant Run Road. | 15 Jan 2022 | Law enforcement agencies have responded to a hostage situation at the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue in Colleyville, Texas. SWAT officers with the Colleyville Police Department, as well as officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety and FBI, are on the scene at the Jewish synagogue, located on the 6100 block of Pleasant Run Road near Tinker Road and State Highway 121. FBI crisis negotiators said, since arriving at the scene, they have had continued contact with the suspect who is holding the hostages. Citing sources familiar with the ongoing situation, both ABC News and the Associated Press have reported that the individual who is holding the hostages is armed. They also report that at least four hostages are believed to be inside of the synagogue, and that the synagogue's rabbi is believed to be among those being held hostage.
Officials say suspect in hostage situation believed to be motivated by case of prisoner linked to terrorism | 15 Jan 2022 | 6:01 p.m. EST update: Two law enforcement officials tell CNN investigators believe the suspect in the hostage situation at a Texas synagogue may have been motivated by a desire to free Aafia Siddiqui, who is serving an 86-year sentence at a facility in Texas. She was convicted in 2010 on seven charges, including attempted murder and armed assault on US officers in Afghanistan. The sources tell CNN that assessment is based on both discussions with the suspect and audio heard on the synagogue's livestream.
Dr. Anthony Fauci's financial disclosure shows $10.4M in investments | 15 Jan 2022 | Joe Biden's chief medical advisor and his wife had 10.4 million in investments at the end of 2020, newly released records show. That sum -- including 2.3 million in unrealized gains -- was held in various mutual funds. Fauci's 2020 financial disclosure was released publicly Friday night by Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), who Fauci had called a “moron" after he inquired into Fauci's financial disclosures during a Senate proceeding Tuesday.
Fauci Was Told Privately by Key Scientists That COVID-19 Natural Origin Was 'Highly Unlikely,' Newly Unredacted Emails Confirm | 13 Jan 2022 | Top U.S. health officials, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, scrambled in early 2020 to respond to public reporting of a potential connection between COVID-19 and the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. This response, which included a secret Feb. 1, 2020, teleconference, was loosely detailed in previously released and heavily redacted emails. Those emails strongly suggested that Fauci and a small group of top scientists sought to promote the natural origin theory, despite having evidence and internal expert opinions that pointed to the possibility of a leak from the Wuhan lab. The newly unredacted emails, released on Jan. 11 by House Oversight Committee Republicans, confirm and illustrate a pattern of lies and coverup. From the emails, it appears the effort was spearheaded by Fauci himself but also involved his boss, recently retired National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Dr. Francis Collins, as well as Jeremy Farrar, the head of the British Wellcome Trust.
Whitmer admin significantly undercounted Michigan nursing home COVID deaths, state auditor finds--Some reports are saying the number could push north of 40%. | 13 Jan 2022 | Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer's administration undercounted the COVID-19 deaths in the state's long-term care facilities by 30%, according to a state auditor general report reviewed by Fox News. The report, which is expected to be publicly released on Monday, is likely to renew criticism of the Democratic governor's performance during the pandemic. Michigan state Rep. Steven Johnson, a Republican, told Fox News Digital in a Thursday phone call that Whitmer is "well known" for her executive order "to place COVID-positive patients into nursing homes." The number could be higher, however, with some reporters saying the number of undercounted deaths could be north of 40%. "Three in 10 [bodies] went uncounted, according to the auditor general," journalist Charlie LeDuff told Fox News Digital in a Thursday email. "When added to the state's total, death in Michigan's long-term care facilities are in fact 42% higher than are being reported, which makes Whitmer's Michigan no better than Cuomo's New York.”
Thousands protest in Vienna against mandatory vaccination | 15 Jan 2022 | Thousands of people took to the streets of Austria's capital on Saturday to protest against government plans to introduce mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for all next month. "The government must go!" crowds chanted at one rally in central Vienna in what has become a routine Saturday event. Parliament is scheduled to vote next week on the issue, which has polarised the country as coronavirus cases surge.
Novak Djokovic faces deportation from Australia again, this time because his presence may 'excite anti-vaccination sentiment' | 14 Jan 2021 | Men's world number-one tennis player Novak Djokovic had his visa application revoked by the Australian government a second time due to his being unvaccinated against COVID-19. The Serbian tennis star now faces deportation once again and will be unable to defend his title at the 2022 Australian Open unless he can win a last-minute appeal. The Guardian reported that Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke on Friday used his ministerial discretion to revoke Djokovic's visa on public interest grounds, saying his presence at the tournament could "excite anti-vaccination sentiment." In a statement, the minister reportedly said he canceled the visa "on health and good order grounds, [and] on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so."
Novak Djokovic is set to be deported as his visa is cancelled for the second time, throwing Australian Open into disarray --Officials said player, unvaccinated against Covid, may pose a risk to community [which is insane, as the COVID vaccine doesn't prevent transmission of COVID] --Immigration Minister Alex Hawke used discretionary powers to cancel his visa --Djokovic could now be banned from a new Australian visa for three years | 14 Jan 2022 | Novak Djokovic is set to be deported after his visa was cancelled for a second time today, throwing next week's Australian Open tournament into disarray. Officials said the world tennis No. 1, who is unvaccinated for COVID-19, may pose a risk to the community. The cancellation means Djokovic would be barred from a new Australian visa for three years, except under certain circumstances. Djokovic, the Australian Open defending champion, was included in the draw on Thursday as top seed and was due to face fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic for his opening match, probably on Monday or Tuesday.
Quebec judge takes away father's visitation rights to his kids because he's unvaccinated --The children's mother labeled the man 'anti-vaccine' and a conspiracy theorist' after he asked for additional visitation during Christmas, which the judged noted in his decision. | 13 Jan 2022 | A Quebec father had his visitation rights temporarily suspended after the mother told a judge he is "anti-vaccine" and posts "conspiracy" theories on social media. Judge Jean-Sébastien Vaillancourt of the Superior Court for the District of Montreal handed down a ruling on December 23 that "temporarily" barred a Quebec father from visiting his three children, ages 12, 4, and 7 months, because he is "unvaccinated" and makes social media posts that express opposition to Quebec's tyrannical so-called public health measures. According to the National Post, the father had petitioned the judge for an additional visitation day over the Christmas holidays with his 12-year-old, at which point the mother told the judge that the request should be denied as she "recently" learned the man was unvaccinated and, according to the judgment, a "conspiracy theorist" and “anti-vaccine."
Top NH Conservative Targeted by Child Services for Giving Son Ivermectin --JR Hoell is the founder of a group critical of COVID-19 vaccine mandates | 13 Jan 2022 | One of New Hampshire's leading political conservatives is fighting to keep his children from the state's child protection services agency after giving his 13-year-old son Iv-rmectin. JR Hoell is the founder of ReOpen NH, an activist group that criticizes COVID-19 vaccine mandates. Hoell, who has also led public education reform efforts and promotes Second Amendment and homeschooling rights, told The Epoch Times that the New Hampshire Division of Children Youth and Family (DCYF) showed up at his doorstep on the night of Dec. 9 with an emergency ex parte order to take custody of his son. "I want to go on the record as calling the DCYF a terrorist organization," Hoell told The Epoch Times, "they have no grounds to seek removal of my son from his home.”
DeSantis says Roberts and Kavanaugh lacked 'backbone' in ruling on vaccine mandate for health care workers | 14 Jan 2022 | Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis knocked Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh for lacking a "backbone" in their decision on the Biden administration's vaccine mandate for certain health care workers. The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed the health care worker mandate to go into effect but blocked enforcement of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) mandate for businesses with 100 or more employees. Justices Roberts and Kavanaugh sided with the liberal justices [and the oligarchy] on the health care worker mandate. DeSantis slammed them both during a guest appearance on the popular conservative podcast "Ruthless" that aired Friday.
Covid pass protesters attempt to breach parliament --The crowd chanted "freedom, freedom," as well as other slogans. | 12 Jan 2022 | Bulgarian police have foiled an attempt by demonstrators protesting the enduring anti-coronavirus restrictions to breach the national parliament. The scuffles left four officers injured and saw several protesters detained. Hundreds of people gathered outside the Bulgarian parliament building in the capital, Sofia, on Wednesday. The protest, staged by the nationalist Vazrazhdane (Revival) party, decried the standing anti-coronavirus restrictions, including the green pass system put in place by the country's authorities.
NYC vaccine mandate protesters arrested at Times Square Olive Garden restaurant [while murderers, rapists, and thieves are allowed to roam free under NYC's Soros-installed DA] --Proof of vaccination is required in New York City to dine in at a restaurant [while no valid ID is required to vote] | 14 Jan 2022 | Several protesters demonstrating against coronavirus vaccine mandates at New York City's restaurants were arrested Friday evening after they refused to leave an Olive Garden location in Times Square, according to videos posted to social media. "This is the Civil Rights movement again!" one man shouted while being handcuffed, a video from independent journalist @ScooterCasterNY showed. In another video posted by the journalist, protesters were heard chanting "U-S-A!" and singing the national anthem before their arrests... The protesters remained inside the Olive Garden for two hours, refusing to leave, prompting the restaurant, which usually stays open until midnight, to close early, according to @ScooterCasterNY.
Twitter Allows Iran's Animated Video Depicting Trump Assassination | 13 Jan 2022 | Iran officials have not been banned by Twitter for making calls to assassinate former President Donald Trump, and now Iran has released a video showing Trump being killed by a drone as he plays golf in Mar-a-Lago. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's website has published a video vowing revenge against Trump for the killing of QUDs Force Cmdr. Qassem Soleimani in January 2020, according to the Sun. "Outrageous. There must be a swift and strong reaction from @jakejsullivan and @JoeBiden," Grenell tweeted. "And why is @Twitter allowing this guy to use their platform?" The call for violence on Twitter has Republicans denouncing a double standard that permits violence against conservatives and Twitter censorship over Jan. 6 - blocking the U.S. president's account on its platform, while protecting accounts of terrorists and enemies of the United States. "So, the leftist oligarchs at Twitter will allow the [guard corps] to tweet death threats at President Trump but will deplatform him for calling for a peaceful protest?" Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., of the House Foreign Affairs Committee told The Washington Free Beacon. "Last I checked, making death threats is inciting violence.”
DOJ charges Oath Keepers founder, 10 others with seditious conspiracy related to Jan. 6 riot --The move marks the first set of charges echoing [false] claims of an insurrection | 13 Jan 2022 | The Department of Justice unveiled seditious conspiracy charges against 11 defendants, including the founder and leader of the right-wing Oath Keepers militia group, Elmer Stewart Rhodes III, for their role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. More than 150 of the defendants have pleaded guilty, and 71 had been sentenced as of Jan. 1, according to Politico. Most of these sentenced Jan. 6 offenders had been convicted of misdemeanors, such as illegally entering the Capitol building, and fewer than half of them have received prison time. Democrats and media outlets have framed the riot as an "insurrection," yet no defendants had faced charges of insurrection or sedition until the new charges against Rhodes and others on Jan. 13.
Volcano erupts in Pacific, West Coast including San Francisco Bay Area under tsunami advisory | 15 Jan 2022 | A tsunami advisory has been issued for the west coast, including right here in the Bay Area. It comes after a tsunami hit Tonga's largest island, reportedly sending waves flooding into the capital after an underwater volcano in the South Pacific exploded in a violent eruption. Berkeley police say people living in the Marina or the area of need to evacuate immediately. The Berkeley Fire Department has ordered a mandatory evacuation in the Marina area or those living in the area due to Tsunami warning. Two to three foot waves are due around 7:30 a.m. About 113 people have been evacuated.
Passaic residents evacuated as 11-alarm chemical fire rages downtown | 14 Jan 2022 | (NJ) An 11-alarm chemical fire sent plumes of smoke and drew several mutual aid departments to the city on frigid Friday night. Mayor Hector Lora said that the bulk of the fire is in the Majestic Industries portion of the property but that part has also spread to the Qualco chemical plant at 225 Passaic St., Mayor Hector Lora said. Lora said that the fire was already in multiple buildings and that they expected to lose the whole structure. He noted that while the fire had not yet reached the area where chemicals are stored, intermittent popping and small explosions indicated that it was getting closer.

Pentagon scientists have been deployed in 25 countries and given diplomatic immunity to research deadly viruses, bacteria and toxins at US military offshore biolaboratories under a $2.1 billion DoD program. (Source: DTRA)
The US Embassy to Tbilisi transports frozen human blood and pathogens as diplomatic cargo for a secret US military program. Internal documents, implicating US diplomats in the transportation of and experimenting on pathogens under diplomatic cover were leaked to me by Georgian insiders. According to these documents, Pentagon scientists have been deployed to the Republic of Georgia and have been given diplomatic immunity to research deadly diseases and biting insects at the Lugar Center – the Pentagon biolaboratory in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.
This military facility is just one of the many Pentagon biolaboratories in 25 countries across the world. They are funded by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) under a $ 2.1 billion military program – Cooperative Biological Engagement Program (CBEP), and are located in former Soviet Union countries such as Georgia and Ukraine, the Middle East, South East Asia and Africa.

Must be COVID!
Intracranial infection cases up 60-fold since vaccines rolled out
But it can't be caused by the vaccines, masks, or swabs since all are "safe and effective" according to the CDC. I wonder what the cause is? Infectious disease docs say nothing is wrong, ignore it.

Mandatory vaccination suffers setback in Austria

Due to technical complications, the registration of mandatory vaccines will only be possible by April, two months later than envisioned by the Austrian government. Meanwhile, experts are questioning the effectiveness of mandatory vaccinations.
The technical implementation of mandatory vaccinations will only be possible by April, the ELGA GmbH, which is responsible for the technical execution of the measure said on Friday – a setback for the government which planned on introducing the mandatory vaccination by February.
While the government said it wants to stick to its February timeline, it will “take into account” the potential technical difficulties and might extend the period after which it will issue fines for the unvaccinated.
At the same time, academic voices criticising compulsory vaccinations are growing louder. According to epidemiologist Gerald Gartlehner, the highly infectious Omicron wave will accelerate immunisation at a speed “never seen before.”

"One health official blames 'pandemic fatigue,'" this piece tells us.
But maybe it's "sudden death fatigue" that's finally kicking in.
Unboosted: California COVID-19 booster rate falls below 40% in most counties
Hospitals are at capacity. COVID-19 infections are at record highs. Testing lines stretch for hours. Yet even as the omicron variant batters the state, only 38% of vaccinated Californians have gotten a booster shot.
As with initial vaccinations, acceptance of the booster shot has varied throughout California: Counties in the far north and rural areas continue to see lower numbers, with as few as 23% of vaccinated people getting a booster in Mariposa, Colusa and Merced counties, according to a CalMatters analysis of state data.
The Bay Area boasts the highest rate, at 55%, and only three counties have more than half of their vaccinated population boosted: San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo. In 19 California counties, less than a third of eligible residents are boosted.

13.)Life insurer refuses to cover "vaccine" death, calling it a "suicide," since the jabs are not compulsory, and the "side effects ... are published" (!) by Mark Crispin Miller (16 Jan 2022 16:30 EST)

“The court allegedly justified its ruling as follows: “The side effects of the experimental vaccine are published and the deceased could not claim to have known nothing about it when he voluntarily took the vaccine. There is no law or mandate in France that compelled him to be vaccinated. Hence his death is essentially suicide.” Since suicide is not covered by the policy from the outset, the insurance refuses to budge.”
So Macron's efforts to "piss off" the "unvaccinated," by making their lives difficult, are not form of compulsion.
Life insurer refuses to cover vaccine death
An explosive case is currently being hotly debated on social media: In France, a rich, older entrepreneur from Paris is said to have died as a result of a Corona injection. Previously, he had taken out multi-million dollar life insurance policies for the benefit of his children and grandchildren, according to a media report.

Although vaccination is recognized as the cause of death by doctors and the insurance company, it has refused to pay out. The reason is because the side effects of the Corona jabs are known and published. They argue that the deceased took part in an experiment at his own risk. Covid-19 in itself is not classed as a “critical illness”.
According to the company, an experimental vaccination resulting in death is like suicide
The insurance company justified the refusal of payment to the family by stating that the use of experimental medication or treatments, including Corona injections, is expressly excluded from the insurance contract. The family’s subsequent lawsuit against the insurance company has been unsuccessful.
The court allegedly justified its ruling as follows: “The side effects of the experimental vaccine are published and the deceased could not claim to have known nothing about it when he voluntarily took the vaccine. There is no law or mandate in France that compelled him to be vaccinated. Hence his death is essentially suicide.” Since suicide is not covered by the policy from the outset, the insurance refuses to budge.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Jason Miyares, who was also just sworn in, has terminated 30 staff members and
2 of the 12* attorneys from the Civil Rights Division of the AG’s Office (alleged Soros backed lawyers).
“The MSM are calling it ‘insane’ and ‘mean,’” writes @Maximus_4EVR adding:

Is it Time for Intellectuals to Talk About God? Naomi Wolf
It's a New Dark Age. Evil abounds. Is a postmodern embarrassment about discussing spiritual matters, keeping us stupid and putting us in danger?
By Naomi Wolf
Global Research, January 14, 2022
Outspoken with Dr. Naomi Wolf 10 January 2022

I recently spoke at a gathering for medical freedom advocates in a little community center in the Hudson River Valley. I cherish this group of activists: they had steadfastly continued to gather throughout the depths of the “lockdown,” that evil time in history — an evil time not yet behind us — and they kept on gathering in human spaces, undaunted. And by joining their relaxed pot-luck dinners around unidentifiable but delicious salads and chewy homemade breads, I was able to continue to remember what it meant to be part of a sane human community.
Children played — as normal — frolicking around, and speaking and laughing and breathing freely; not suffocating in masks like little zombies, or warned by terrified adults to keep from touching other human children. Dogs were petted. Neighbors spoke to one another at normal ranges, without fear or phobias. Bands played much-loved folk songs or cool little indie rock numbers they had written themselves, and no one, graceful or awkward, feared dancing. People sat on the house’s steps shoulder to shoulder, in human warmth, and chatted over glasses of wine or homemade cider. No one asked anyone personal medical questions.
(While I believe that all decisions about how you live your life vis a vis an infectious disease are intensely personal, and I would never recommend to others to assume any specific level of risk or to pursue any specific strategy of risk reduction; I think it’s worth noting, by the way, that to my knowledge, they had gone through the last two years without having lost a soul to COVID.)
Meanwhile, what had been human community outside of that little group, and outside other isolated normal communities — and outside of a handful of normal states in America — became more and more surreal, terrifying and unrecognizable.
The rest of the world, at least on the progressive side in the United States, became increasingly cult-like and insular in its thinking, since March of 2020.
As the months passed, friends and colleagues of mine who were highly educated, and who had been lifelong critical thinkers, journalists, editors, researchers, doctors, philanthropists, teachers, psychologists — all began to repeat only talking points from MSNBC and CNN, and soon overtly refused to look at any sources – even peer-reviewed sources in medical journals — even CDC data — that contradicted those talking points. These people literally said to me, “I don’t want to see that; don’t show it to me.” It became clear soon enough that if they absorbed information contradictory to “the narrative” that was consolidating, they risked losing social status, maybe even jobs; doors would close, opportunities would be lost. One well-educated woman told me she did not want to see any unsanctioned information because she was afraid of being disinvited from her bridge group. Hence the refrain: “I don’t want to see that; don’t show it to me.”
Friends and colleagues of mine who had been skeptical their whole adult lives of Big Agriculture — who only shopped at Whole Foods, who would never let their kids eat sugar or processed meat, or ingest a hint of Red Dye No 2 in candy, or eat candy itself for that matter in some cases — these same people lined up to inject into their bodies, and then offered up the bodies of their dependent minor children for the same purpose, an MRNA gene-therapy injection whose trials would not end for two more years. These parents announced on social media proudly that they had done this with their children. When I pointed out gently that the trials would not end til 2023, they yelled at me.
The progressive, right-on part of the ideological world — my people, my tribe, my whole life — became more and more uncritical, less and less able to reason. Friends and colleagues who were wellness-oriented, and who their whole adult lives had known the dangers of Big Pharma — and who would only use Burt’s Bees on their babies’ bottoms and sunscreen with no PABAs on themselves— lined up to take an experimental gene therapy; why not? And worse, it seemed, they crowded around, like the stone throwers in Shirley Jackson’s short story “The Lottery,” to lash out at and to shun anyone who raised the most basic questions about Big Pharma and its highly compensated spokesmodels. Their critical thinking, but worse, their entire knowledge base about that industry, seemed to have evaporated magically into the ether.
Whole belief systems were abandoned painlessly and overnight as if it these communities were in the grip of a collective hallucination, like the witch craze of the 15th to 17th centuries in Northern Europe. Intelligent, informed people suddenly saw things that were not there and were unable to see things that were incontrovertibly before their faces.
Feminist health activists, who surely knew perfectly well the histories of how the pharmaceutical and medical industries had experimented ad nauseam on the bodies of women with disastrous results, lined up to take an injection that by March of 2021 women were reporting was wreaking painful havoc on their menstrual cycles. These same feminist health activists had spoken out earlier, as they should have, about Big Pharma’s and Big Medicine’s colonization of women’s reproductive health processes, and had spoken out about issues ranging from women’s access to safe contraception to abortion rights, to the rights of mothers to a midwifery delivery or to a birthing room, or to the right to labour or the right to store milk at work or the right to breastfeed in public.
But these formerly reliable custodians of well-informed medical skepticism and of women’s health rights, were silent, silent, as such voices as former HHS official Dr Paul Alexander warned that spike protein from MRNA vaccines may accumulate in the ovaries (and testes), see this, and as vaccinated women reported hemorrhagic menses — double digit percentages in a Norwegian study reported heavier bleeding (see this). Many women also reported blood clotting, and women even reported post-menopausal bleeding — and mothers reported their vaccinated twelve year olds suddenly getting their periods; but it was two periods a month some girls endured.
Almost no one out of the luminaries of feminist health activism who had spent decades speaking out on behalf of women’s health and women’s bodies, raised a peep above the parapet. Those two or three of us who did were very visibly smeared, in some cases threatened, and in many ways silenced.
When I broke this story of menstrual dysregulation post-vaccination on Twitter in Spring of 2021, I was suspended. Matt Gertz works at CNN and Media Matters. The former is a channel on which I had appeared for decades; the latter, a group whose leadership members I’ve known for years, and in one instance, with whom I’ve worked.
In spite of both of his employers having sought out professional association with me, Matt Gertz publicly and repeatedly called me a “pandemic conspiracy theorist” upon my first having reported on menstrual dysregulation, and elsewhere accused me of “crack-pottery”, see this.
Shame on me for doing journalism. I broke the post-vaccination menstrual dysregulation story by doing what I always do: by using the same methodology that I used in writing The Beauty Myth (about eating disorders) and Misconceptions (about obstetrics), and Vagina (about female sexual health): I listened to women, that radical act.

The press politicians and Big Pharma didn’t all just realise the truth, they’re just using some small parts of truth they’ve been ignoring for two years to fortify their position.

150k Covid-19 Deaths? – The ONS state in black and white that just 17,000 people have died of Covid-19 in the past 2 years
Listen Now

For nearly two years the people of the UK have been repeatedly ordered to stay at home, wear masks, and get vaccinated in order to protect the NHS and save lives. Lockdown after lockdown, restriction after restriction.
Millions of lives have been put on hold, millions of others have been ruined. Millions of jobs have been lost, thousands of businesses are now closed forever.
But a huge majority of the British people think it has all been worth it, and absolutely necessary due to the fear propaganda that has played on a 24/7 loop on their television screens, and headlined every newspaper over the past two years.
Because the British public have been led to believe that over one-hundred-and-fifty-thousand people have died of Covid-19, and they’ve been told that number would have been much higher if they had not complied with the destruction of the economy and decimation of their lives.
But now we can confirm without a shadow of a doubt that the 150k number is an outright lie thanks to a recent response to a Freedom of Information Request made to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), in which the ONS confirms that just 17,371 people have died of Covid-19 over the past two years.

Girlboss: How a 19-Year-Old in a Steve Jobs Turtleneck Snookered America’s Failed Ruling Class
January 16, 2022 (15h ago)

Alongside all the hype and chatter about the January 6 anniversary, there was another worthy news story the first week of 2022. On Monday, January 3, a federal jury in California convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes on three counts of wire fraud and one of conspiracy to defraud investors. Holmes, six years removed from being the richest self-made woman in the world, now faces as many as twenty years in prison, though she will likely receive less.
While it’s always good to see criminals receive their just desserts, there is another upbeat aspect to the Holmes saga. The conviction of Holmes isn’t just an indictment of her fraudulent business practices. It’s a profound and permanent humiliation for America’s entire incompetent, vacuous leadership caste.
Between 2003 and 2016, Theranos collected more than $700 million in venture capital funding based on its promise to develop revolutionary blood tests that could be done almost instantly, with just a single drop of blood, at a fraction of the price of existing tests. This was a promise of a bold, massive, out-of-nowhere technological leap in a mature industry. The founder Elizabeth Holmes’ business plan was comparable to a 20-year-old promising to upend the automobile market by inventing a flying car that gets 200 miles a gallon and can be sold for ten thousand dollars.
Countless wealthy, influential, and politically-connected people fell for her promises and were entirely snookered for years on end. Sunk costs create a certain psychological hold that a con can use to hook the mark. Sure enough, many of Holmes’ victims continued to defend her as late as 2018, even as she burned through their reputations and nearly a billion dollars of other people’s money.
A 2014 profile by The New Yorker’s Ken Auletta perfectly demonstrated how easily Holmes bamboozled a credulous media and elite eager to have their political biases confirmed. Apparently, there is no shortage of horny boomer men and feminist boomer women ready to fall for a strong, independent girlboss-extraordinaire-in-a-Steve Jobs-turtleneck who breaks all those pesky and inconvenient stereotypes about “women in tech.”
Holmes’ steamy affair with the company’s Indian president Ramesh Balwani (19 years her senior) may have been an open secret, but the New Yorker simply wrote that Holmes “doesn’t date” due to her single-minded focus on business.

JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass by Oliver Stone
by Edward Curtin
January 16, 2022
A Film Review
Two of the greatest speeches ever delivered by an American president bookend this extraordinary documentary film.  It opens with President John F. Kennedy giving the commencement speech at American University on June 10, 1963 and it closes with his civil rights speech to the American people the following day.  It is a deft artistic touch that suggests the brevity of JFK’s heroic efforts for world peace and domestic racial equality and justice before he was assassinated in a public execution in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963.
In the former anti-war speech, he called for the end to the Cold War with the Soviet Union, the halt to the arms race, and the abolishment of war and its weapons, especially nuclear.  He said:
What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children – not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women – not merely peace in our time but peace for all time.
In the latter address to the American people, having just sent National Guard troops to the University of Alabama to make sure two black students were admitted despite the racist objections of Governor George Wallace, his words transcended the immediate issue at the university and called for the end to the immoral and illegal discrimination against African Americans in every area of the nation’s life.  He said:
One hundred years of delay have passed since President Lincoln freed the slaves, yet their heirs, their grandsons, are not fully free. They are not yet freed from the bonds of injustice. They are not yet freed from social and economic oppression. And this Nation, for all its hopes and all its boasts, will not be fully free until all its citizens are free.
Having framed the documentary thus, Oliver Stone and the screenwriter James DiEugenio do a masterful job of explaining what really happened in the years of Kennedy’s short presidency, why he was such a great threat to the CIA and the military industrial complex, what really happened when they killed him, and how the Warren Commission, the CIA, and the corporate media have worked hand-in-hand to this day to cover up the truth.  The current two-hour version of JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass will be followed in a month or so by a more detailed four-hour version.

Words From The Front: Spanish Police Declare Resistance To Covid Tyranny and Corruption-- State That They Are United With Police Forces Across Europe
"We promised to protect and serve the people...We're going to stop this!"
Celia Farber
Jan 17

See the clip from Valencia, Spain here:
Translated with the help of sources in Spain who wished to remain anonymous:
”We promised to protect and serve the people not the corrupt politicians. We feel very proud to be police but real police, not hit men of the government. Our association is in direct contact with members of security forces in Italy, Portugal, France, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, and Holland. We’re going to join together all of the police of Europe. We’re going to stop this. The security forces and the armed forces are the key to all of this. We have to put ourselves on the side of the people, and turn our backs on the corrupt governments! We have denounced the Covid passport here in Valencia with our association. We’re going to demand responsibility from Señor Marlasca for the two states of emergency, and for using the police and the guardia civil to coerce the citizens. We don’t support that.”
This seems to be a critical development, and one we will keep close tabs on.
Thanks to Pélerine for this news tip.
Incidentally, Pélerine was selected as an outstanding reviewer of Robert F. Kennedy’s The Real Anthony Fauci by The Defender, linked here.
Congratulations Pélerine!
And congratulations to all the good police men and women of Europe, keeping your oath to protect, and risking your lives and livelihoods to do so. We salute your courage, and keep you in prayer.

8. Why most adverse events from "vaccine" trials don't make it into published studies by Mark Crispin Miller (17 Jan 2022 18:01 EST)

Are Adverse Events in COVID-19 Vaccine Trials Under-Reported?
by Maryanne Demasi, PhD | Guest Writer
Published January 16, 2022 | VaccinationRisk & Failure Reports
Opinion | Phase III controlled trials are considered the ‘gold standard’ for assessing vaccine efficacy and safety in humans. These are the trials upon which authorities have assured the public that COVID-19 vaccines are “safe and effective.”
The benefits of the vaccines in reducing disease severity and hospitalizations are well-known, but what do we know about the adverse events?
Data on adverse events is vital for effective decision-making by regulators, policy makers, doctors, and patients. But there are serious concerns about publication bias or selective omission of data, whereby adverse events are less likely to be published than positive results. A systematic review in PLOS journal analyzed 28 studies and found that adverse events were less likely to appear in published journal articles than unpublished studies (e.g. industry-held data).
Experts now suggest that the pivotal COVID-19 vaccine trials may have under-reported adverse events in several ways.
Virtual Monitoring With Digital Apps
In the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccine trials, participants were given digital apps to record adverse events remotely—a more convenient, time efficient and cost-effective way of gathering patient data. A major problem however, is that the pre-determined options on the digital apps have a narrow focus on particular adverse events.
For example, the app only allows a participant to record what the company deems as ‘expected’ events such as fever, pain at injection site, temperature, redness, swelling, fatigue, headache, diarrhea, chills, muscle and joint pain. But if they experience a serious adverse event like myocarditis or early signs of transverse myelitis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, a myopathic disorder, myocarditis or thrombosis, there is no option for them to record it on the app.
Case in point: Brianne Dressen, a participant in the AstraZeneca (AZD1222) trial. She suffered a severe adverse event after her first injection and became disabled. But her smartphone app did not allow her to record the particular type of adverse event, nor did it allow her to record her symptoms in her own words.
Once hospitalized, Ms. Dressen was ‘unblinded’ from the trial. She was informed that she had been given the AstraZeneca vaccine, not the placebo, and advised not to have the second injection.
The investigators subsequently “withdrew” Ms. Dressen from the trial, they disabled her smartphone app, and all her data from that day onwards, were never documented despite still experiencing disability today.

Let's hope this guy is right.
From Colleen McGuire:
The Truth About That Army Drill Battling With American “Freedom Fighters”
This prepper blogger who studies the long-time Green Beret drill known as Robin Sage says this drill that got lots of attention is just training as usual and is not about the military preparing to attack its own people.
An interesting excerpt:
In 2002, one soldier was killed and another injured after they were shot by a sheriff’s deputy who had not been informed that there was an Army training program underway throughout a great chunk of North Carolina. The soldiers were in civilian clothes and driving a car when the officer pulled them over. Upon peering into the car, the officer saw a partially disassembled M4 rifle.
Believing he was in imminent danger, the deputy pepper sprayed the soldiers to subdue them. The soldiers resisted, thinking this was all a part of the exercise, and then the deputy drew his pistol and shot them.
Ever since then, police throughout the region are instructed when Robin Sage is underway, and all soldiers wear an armband designating them as Robin Sage students.

11. That all those untimely heart attacks are caused by (what else?) COVID is the new Big Lie (but, God knows, not the last) by Mark Crispin Miller (17 Jan 2022 18:20 EST)

From Darwin K. Hoop:

It's official: These people are dying of "COVID" because they didn't get their jabs, second jabs, or boosters early enough or because it's a deadly variant. Over the weekend, the official narrators began pushing the explanation that COVID is causing all of these devastating heart attacks. Ergo, it is even more vital that athletes be jabbed by the commutative law of alternative authoritarian causality.

COVID damage to the heart has become the new normie mantra over the last week, receiving ceaseless pulses of support from "trusted (mainstream) voices". https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/soccer-tv-streaming-guide-man-city-chelsea-tottenham-arsenal-afcon-rolls-on-inter-milan-face-another-test/
They've been priming this pump since late spring 2021 and now they are pushing a Joe Rogan episode where Joe gets "fact checked" by a guest who states the risk from COVID is 8X higher than the risk of the injection. They've been laying this foundation for a while with bullshit studies and NYTimes articles. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29633697/heart-condition-linked-covid-19-fuels-power-5-concern-season-viability

The Achilles' Heel of the argument, of which most people seem unaware, is the COVID diagnoses upon which they are relying--unlike the vakseen myocarditis data--rely entirely on debunked Corman-Drosten standard PCR tests which means they are 0% relevant. If we had a PCR reasonably calibrated to true and exclusive strings of SARS-CoV-2 data, the tests would still be wrong nearly all the time yielding >97% false positives alone. Remove 97% of the false positives from the already fraudulent data points they are using and you have NOTHING, no problem from COVID-caused heart attacks at all. They will have been using false positives from people who have pre-existing, serious, heart conditions in hospital already for these ailments to make the case that their resulting deaths and infarctions were caused not by the pre-existing condition but COVID.

We all need to be out there smashing this deadly argument to bits because pretty much all the normy-gliberals in my life are dismissing these vakseen-caused deaths as "COVID deaths" and people on our side of the debate seem to be unaware of the BS alternative hypothesis to which they are defaulting.

And again a heart attack: the 38-year-old athlete died while swimming on the Ironman 70.3 Pucon.

The opening of the 2022 Ironman season at the Ironman 70.3 Pucón, Chile resulted in the tragic death of the 38-year-old. According to reports, the athlete had a heart attack while in the water.

The race had to be stopped after one of the athletes alerted security personnel to the threatening situation of one of the athletes. The athlete received immediate medical attention and was taken to the nearest hospital. He later passed away. The identity of the athlete has not yet been disclosed.

Despite the setback, the 2022 Ironman season ended successfully on Sunday at the Ironman 70.3 Pucon, with Spaniards Javier Gomez and Luisa Baptista declared the winners.

The Vaccinated vs. the Unvaccinated: Those Who Refuse the Vaccine and the “Official” Covid-19 Narrative are Categorized as “Psychopaths”

by Prof Michel Chossudovsky

And now we have entered a new phase. The “Vaccine Passport” is being imposed in a large number of countries.

The non-vaccinated are confined to their homes, prevented from travelling, fired from their jobs, prevented from attending schools and universities. They are  accused of being extremists and psychopaths.

What is unfolding is a despicable political process which consists in creating a social divide  between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated.

These social divisions are creating conflicts within families and local communities, literally contributing to the disruption of social life, with devastating impacts on economic activity.

Supported by media propaganda, the campaign is proceeding unabated. Those who refuse to get the killer “vaccine” are categorized as “anti-social psychopaths”.

What prevails is a “divide and rule” scenario which is being applied simultaneously in numerous countries.

Both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated are the victims of  a Worldwide criminal agenda which is endorsed by the United Nations and most of its 193 member states.

Our first task is to immediately halt and cancel the so-called Covid-19 “vaccine” which has triggered a wave of mortality and morbidity Worldwide.

Worldwide Solidarity and Human Dignity is the Driving Force

“The Last Days of the Covidian Cult”

This isn’t going to be pretty, folks. The downfall of a death cult rarely is. There is going to be wailing and gnashing of teeth, incoherent fanatical jabbering, mass deleting of embarrassing tweets. There’s going to be a veritable tsunami of desperate rationalizing, strenuous denying, shameless blame-shifting, and other forms of ass-covering, as suddenly former Covidian Cult members make a last-minute break for the jungle before the fully-vaxxed-and-boosted “Safe and Effective Kool-Aid” servers get to them.

Yes, that’s right, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, the official Covid narrative is finally falling apart, or is being hastily disassembled, or historically revised, right before our eyes. The “experts” and “authorities” are finally acknowledging that the “Covid deaths” and “hospitalization” statistics are artificially inflated and totally unreliable (which they have been from the very beginning), and they are admitting that their miracle “vaccines” don’t work (unless you change the definition of the word “vaccine”), and that they have killed a few people, or maybe more than a few people, and that lockdowns were probably “a serious mistake.”

I am not going to bother with further citations. You can surf the Internet as well as I can. The point is, the “Apocalyptic Pandemic” PSYOP has reached its expiration date. After almost two years of mass hysteria over a virus that causes mild-to-moderate common-cold or flu-like symptoms (or absolutely no symptoms whatsoever) in about 95% of the infected and the overall infection fatality rate of which is approximately 0.1% to 0.5%, people’s nerves are shot. We are all exhausted. Even the Covidian cultists are exhausted. And they are starting to abandon the cult en masse.

It was always mostly just a matter of time. As Klaus Schwab said, “the pandemic represent[ed] a rare but narrow window of opportunity to reflect, reimagine, and reset our world.”

It isn’t over, but that window is closing, and our world has not been “reimagined” and “reset,” not irrevocably, not just yet. Clearly, GloboCap underestimated the potential resistance to the Great Reset, and the time it would take to crush that resistance. And now the clock is running down, and the resistance isn’t crushed … on the contrary, it is growing. And there is nothing GloboCap can do to stop it, other than go openly totalitarian, which it can’t, as that would be suicidal. As I noted in a recent column:

“New Normal totalitarianism — and any global-capitalist form of totalitarianism — cannot display itself as totalitarianism, or even authoritarianism. It cannot acknowledge its political nature. In order to exist, it must not exist. Above all, it must erase its violence (the violence that all politics ultimately comes down to) and appear to us as an essentially beneficent response to a legitimate ‘global health crisis’ …”

The simulated “global health crisis” is, for all intents and purposes, over. Which means that GloboCap has screwed the pooch. The thing is, if you intend to keep the masses whipped up into a mindless frenzy of anus-puckering paranoia over an “apocalyptic global pandemic,” at some point, you have to produce an actual apocalyptic global pandemic. Faked statistics and propaganda will carry you for a while, but eventually people are going to need to experience something at least resembling an actual devastating worldwide plague, in reality, not just on their phones and TVs.

Also, GloboCap seriously overplayed their hand with the miracle “vaccines.” Covidian cultists really believed that the “vaccines” would protect them from infection. Epidemiology experts like Rachel Maddow assured them that they would:

“Now we know that the vaccines work well enough that the virus stops with every vaccinated person,” Maddow said on her show the evening of March 29, 2021. “A vaccinated person gets exposed to the virus, the virus does not infect them, the virus cannot then use that person to go anywhere else,” she added with a shrug. “It cannot use a vaccinated person as a host to go get more people.”

And now they are all sick with … well, a cold, basically, or are “asymptomatically infected,” or whatever. And they are looking at a future in which they will have to submit to “vaccinations” and “boosters” every three or four months to keep their “compliance certificates” current, in order to be allowed to hold a job, attend a school, or eat at a restaurant, which, OK, hardcore cultists are fine with, but there are millions of people who have been complying, not because they are delusional fanatics who would wrap their children’s heads in cellophane if Anthony Fauci ordered them to, but purely out of “solidarity,” or convenience, or herd instinct, or … you know, cowardice.

Many of these people (i.e., the non-fanatics) are starting to suspect that maybe what we “tin-foil-hat-wearing, Covid-denying, anti-vax, conspiracy-theorist extremists” have been telling them for the past 22 months might not be as crazy as they originally thought. They are back-pedaling, rationalizing, revising history, and just making up all kinds of self-serving bullshit, like how we are now in “a post-vaccine world,” or how “the Science has changed,” or how “Omicron is different,” in order to avoid being forced to admit that they’re the victims of a GloboCap PSYOP and the worldwide mass hysteria it has generated.

Which … fine, let them tell themselves whatever they need to for the sake of their vanity, or their reputations as investigative journalists, celebrity leftists, or Twitter revolutionaries. If you think these “recovering” Covidian Cult members are ever going to publicly acknowledge all the damage they have done to society, and to people and their families, since March 2020, much less apologize for all the abuse they heaped onto those of us who have been reporting the facts … well, they’re not. They are going to spin, equivocate, rationalize, and lie through their teeth, whatever it takes to convince themselves and their audience that, when the shit hit the fan, they didn’t click heels and go full “Good German.”

Give these people hell if you need to. I feel just as angry and betrayed as you do. But let’s not lose sight of the ultimate stakes here. Yes, the official narrative is finally crumbling, and the Covidian Cult is starting to implode, but that does not mean that this fight is over. GloboCap and their puppets in government are not going to cancel the whole “New Normal” program, pretend the last two years never happened, and gracefully retreat to their lavish bunkers in New Zealand and their mega-yachts.

Totalitarian movements and death cults do not typically go down gracefully. They usually go down in a gratuitous orgy of wanton, nihilistic violence as the cult or movement desperately attempts to maintain its hold over its wavering members and defend itself from encroaching reality. And that is where we are at the moment … or where we are going to be very shortly.

Cities, states, and countries around the world are pushing ahead with implementing the New Normal biosecurity society, despite the fact that there is no longer any plausible justification for it. Austria is going ahead with forced “vaccination.” Germany is preparing to do the same. France is rolling out a national segregation system to punish “the Unvaccinated.” Greece is fining “unvaccinated” pensioners. Australia is operating “quarantine camps.” Scotland. Italy. Spain. The Netherlands. New York City. San Francisco. Toronto. The list goes on, and on, and on.

I don’t know what is going to happen. I’m not an oracle. I’m just a satirist. But we are getting dangerously close to the point where GloboCap will need to go full-blown fascist if they want to finish what they started. If that happens, things are going to get very ugly. I know, things are already ugly, but I’m talking a whole different kind of ugly. Think Jonestown, or Hitler’s final days in the bunker, or the last few months of the Manson Family.

That is what happens to totalitarian movements and death cults once the spell is broken and their official narratives fall apart. When they go down, they try to take the whole world with them. I don’t know about you, but I’m hoping we can avoid that. From what I have heard and read, it isn’t much fun.
