“WAR

Smedley
Darlington Butler (July 30, 1881 – June 21, 1940) was a United States Marine
Corps major general, the highest rank authorized at that time, and at the time
of his death the most decorated Marine in U.S. history. During his 34-year
career as a Marine, he participated in military actions in the Philippines,
China, in Central America and the Caribbean during the Banana Wars, and France
in World War I. Butler later became an outspoken critic of U.S. wars and their
consequences. He also exposed an alleged plan to overthrow the U.S. government.
By the end of his career, Butler had received 16 medals, five for heroism. He
is one of 19 men to receive the Medal of Honor twice, one of three to be
awarded both the Marine Corps Brevet Medal (along with Wendell Neville and
David Porter) and the Medal of Honor, and the only Marine to be awarded the
Brevet Medal and two Medals of Honor, all for separate actions. In 1933, he
became involved in a controversy known as the Business Plot, when he told a
congressional committee that a group of wealthy industrialists were planning a
military coup to overthrow Franklin D. Roosevelt, with Butler selected to lead
a march of veterans to become dictator, similar to Fascist regimes at that
time. The individuals involved all denied the existence of a plot and the media
ridiculed the allegations, but a final report by a special House of
Representatives Committee confirmed some of Butler's testimony. In 1935, Butler
wrote a book titled War Is a Racket, where he described and criticized the
workings of the United States in its foreign actions and wars, such as those he
was a part of, including the American corporations and other imperialist
motivations behind them. After retiring from service, he became a popular
activist, speaking at meetings organized by veterans, pacifists, and church
groups in the 1930s.

Dear Colleagues and Friends of
CEIMSA,
The 21 + items below represent articles and essays which are circulating
this week in the Anglophone social media, offering new perspectives on current debates
over social policies that are designed for a private-profit-driven political economy governed by a
small ruling class expounding international pretentions. The public should be warned
of the dangers this class struggle represents to their families, their society,
and to the environment as a whole.

Diana West's Critique Of ‘Mr.
Jones’ As ‘Limited Hangout’; and ‘Reflections On How The Pharmaceutical Cabal
Co-Opted The Radical Left To Demand Vaccines And Toxic Drugs’
by Celia Farber
In the
last week of April, I finally watched the movie “Mr. Jones” about the heroic Welsh journalist Gareth Jones, who smuggled himself
into Ukraine in the early 1930s, gathered evidence of the Stalin-induced
collectivist famine, and returned to the UK to break the story far and wide. He
was thereafter denounced as a liar, by the Walter Duranty
controlled apparatus, (Soviet and Western press working in tandem) and
sidelined from the profession. On a later trip to Mongolia, he was murdered,
likely by Soviet agents, one day before his 30th birthday. (He was the second
journalist to be murdered for trying to get the truth about about
the Holomodor.) To this day, Moscow NY Times correspondent Walter Duranty has not had his Pulitzer Prize for his reporting
from this era revoked, though he denied the famine. (He conceded only
“malnutrition.”) It is not known how many millions of
Ukrainians perished.
I fell for the movie, did not notice anything greatly amiss, but on April 26, I got an email
from Diana West, that caused me to immediately realize what I had missed. I was
driving to Mass that day for a treatment, and looked greatly forward to
absorbing what Diana was trying to tell me, when I got back.
. . .
This is what
Diana wrote—and I have her permission to publish it:
Hi, Celia
— Gareth Jones is the best, but "Mr. Jones” is a travesty — twisting,
omitting key facts, messing with context and ORWELL
and so much more.
·
I wrote about Gareth Jones, truth,

Ukraine terror famine, etc., in American Betrayal so this is a great

When I listened to the first video, I found myself laughing, and I determined
to film the part that I found so funny, in which she re-enacts a scene in the
movie between Jones and Orwell. I had not even thought of the timeline—Orwell
did not write Animal Farm until
a good decade after Jones got his famous story, and still, as West points out,
Orwell’s Animal Farm texts are
used as the moral guide for the film. That was only one of many “freight
trains” of strange distortions the film commits. Here’s the outtake I made. (I

“Why Do We Keep Feeding the Merchants of Death?”
Analysis by Dr. Joseph Mercola Fact Checked
May 09, 2023
Story at-a-glance
According to mainstream media, the Ukraine war is going well and Russia will be solidly defeated. We just have to give Ukraine the means they need to prevail. However, as reported by Medea Benjamin and Nicolas Davies in an April 24, 2023, article in Salon magazine,1 based on an “enormous leak of secret documents,” “that now looks like disinformation.” Who is surprised?
“President Biden dismissed the leaks as revealing nothing of ‘great consequence,’” Benjamin and Davies write.2
“What these documents reveal, however, is that the war is going worse for Ukraine than our political leaders have admitted to us, while going badly for Russia too, so that neither side is likely to break the stalemate this year and this will likely lead to ‘a protracted war beyond 2023,’ as one of the documents says.
The publication of these assessments should lead to renewed calls for our government to level with the public about what it realistically hopes to achieve by prolonging the bloodshed, and why it continues to reject the resumption of the promising peace negotiations it blocked in April 2022.
We believe that blocking those talks was a dreadful mistake ... and that current U.S. policy is compounding that mistake at the cost of tens of thousands more Ukrainian lives and the destruction of even more of their country.”
False Accounting on Both Sides
According to the leaked documents — allegedly obtained and published on social media by a 21-year-old National Guard member in a foolish attempt to impress friends — both the Russians and the Ukrainians have systematically exaggerated enemy casualties while lowballing their own.
Not surprisingly, the U.S. has publicly promoted the idea that Russia has suffered greater casualties than Ukraine, “deliberately skewing public perceptions to support the notion that Ukraine can somehow win the war, as long as we just keep sending more weapons,” Salon reports.3
Some of the leaked war documents estimate the death toll on both sides of the conflict is upward of 100,000, and when you include the wounded, that number may be as high as 350,000.
The documents also predict Ukraine’s death toll may rise exponentially in May or June because, by then, Ukraine will have used up the air defense missiles provided by NATO, which make up 89% of its air defense. At that point, Ukraine will become vulnerable “to the full strength of the Russian air force,” Salon reports.
What’s more, according to one document,4 nine brigades that are being trained in Poland, Romania, and Slovenia for a “spring offensive” scheduled for July or August 2023 had only half the equipment needed and had received only 15% of the necessary battle training by the end of February.
A second document claimed the spring offensive was scheduled to begin at the end of April, which didn’t happen. Either way, if the offensive does get launched earlier rather than later, that would mean many of the troops might not be fully trained by the time they’re deployed. As reported by Benjamin and Davies:5
“The leaked documents conclude that ‘enduring Ukrainian deficiencies in training and munitions supplies probably will strain progress and exacerbate casualties during the offensive,’ and that the most likely outcome remains only modest territorial gains.”
That said, Russia still does not have 100% control over Bakhmut despite months of fighting, which suggests Russia is struggling with deficiencies of its own. Taken together, one of the leaked documents predicts the war is “likely heading toward a stalemate” as both sides are becoming locked into a “grinding campaign of attrition.”6
Are We Headed for World War?
Another leaked document also reveals NATO countries, including the U.K. and U.S., have sent 97 special forces to Ukraine. This is in addition to the CIA personnel, military trainers and Pentagon contractors sent previously, and the 20,000 troops from the 82nd and 101st Airborne Brigades already deployed to the border of Poland and Ukraine.7,8
Some U.S. Congress members have expressed worry about the ramifications of continued U.S. involvement in the conflict. In mid-April 2023, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz introduced a Privileged Resolution of Inquiry9,10 to force President Biden to disclose the number of U.S. military personnel in Ukraine and the full extent of the administration’s plans to assist Ukraine militarily. As noted in a Congressional press release:11
“... the resolution directs Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to disclose the number of United States Armed Forces, including special operators, deployed to Ukraine without Congressional authority.
In order to comply with the resolution, the President and Secretary of Defense must send the requested documents to the House of Representatives within 14 days of its adoption ...
‘The Biden Administration and other allied countries have been misleading the world on the state of the war in Ukraine. There must be total transparency from this administration to the American people when they are gambling war with a nuclear adversary by having special forces operating in Ukraine ...
My Privileged Resolution of Inquiry will better inform the Congress and the country on the true state of our military’s involvement in the war,’ said Congressman Gaetz.”
Biden Displays Frighteningly Poor Leadership
Apparently, U.S. intelligence agencies are also confused about Biden’s plan, if there is one. According to a report by investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, U.S. intelligence sources claim a “total breakdown of trust” between the White House and elements of the U.S. intelligence community:12
“The intelligence officials told me that ‘there is no evidence that any senior official in the White House really knows what’s going on in the 82nd and 101st. Are they there as part of a NATO exercise or to serve with NATO combat units if the West decides to engage Russians units inside Ukraine?
Are they there to train or to be a trigger? The rules of engagement say they can’t attack Russians unless our boys are getting attacked.’ ‘But the juniors are running the show here,’ the official added.
‘There’s no NSC coordination and the U.S. army is getting ready to go to war. There’s no idea whether the White House knows what’s going on. Has the president gone to the American people with an informative broadcast about what is going on? The only briefings the press and the public get today are from White House spokespeople. ‘This is not just bad leadership. There is none. Zero.’”
US Taxpayers Bled Dry in Money Laundering Operation
Biden also appears to be completely unconcerned about the fact that the Ukrainian government is stealing from U.S. taxpayers. As reported by Hersh, the U.S. is paying for the diesel the Ukrainian army needs.
But, members of the Ukrainian government are skimming millions of dollars in the process by purchasing discounted fuel from Russia via front companies set up in Poland and Czechia. In 2022, CIA analysts estimated the amount of embezzled funds had already reached $400 million, if not more. Hersh writes:13
“The issue of corruption was directly raised with Zelensky in a meeting last January in Kiev with CIA director William Burns. His message to the Ukrainian president, I was told by an intelligence official with direct knowledge of the meeting, was out of a 1950s mob movie.
The senior generals and government officials in Kiev were angry at what they saw as Zelensky’s greed ... because ‘he was taking a larger share of the skim money than was going to the generals.’”
In short, the Ukraine war is looking more and more like a money laundering operation in which U.S. tax dollars are being intentionally stolen for private enrichment.
‘Breakdown of Trust’ Between White House and US Intelligence
Biden’s lack of leadership and his blatant acceptance of the corruption in Ukraine aren’t the only things undermining trust among members of the U.S. intelligence community. According to Hersh’s sources, the lack of political skill shown by Secretary of State Tony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is also causing serious problems.
Biden, Blinken and Sullivan “live in different worlds than the experienced diplomats and military and intelligence officers assigned to the White House,” Hersh writes.14 According to one intelligence official:
“They have no experience, judgment and moral integrity. They just tell lies, make up stories. Diplomatic deniability is something else.”
Biden’s decision to blow up the Nord Stream pipelines without conferring with the intelligence community is another sticking point. “Destroying the Nord Stream pipelines was never discussed, or even known in advance, by the [intelligence] community,” Hersh’s source told him.
Biden clearly has no strategy for ending the Ukraine war. At the same time, intelligence officers warn Hersh that the National Intelligence Estimate process has also seized up, so the U.S. has no plan for how to respond if China invades Taiwan, for example.
The Power of Leaks
In an April 25, 2023, Washington Post article,15 Daniel Ellsberg, responsible for leaking the Pentagon Papers some 50 years ago, spoke to journalist Devlin Barrett about the latest disclosure of classified information.
Ellsberg, now 92 years old, is dying of pancreatic cancer. In 1971, while working at the Pentagon as a nuclear war planner,16 he leaked a large cache of secret government documents showing the U.S. administrations knew full well we were losing the Vietnam War and kept lying to the American public about the state of the war effort. He sees the same thing happening today. He told Barrett the war in Ukraine:
“... feels very similar to Vietnam. The war is stalemated, that seems so obvious now except for the fact that both sides totally deny it. What these new leaks show is what the Pentagon Papers showed, that the insiders all know that. They know that they are fighting a stalemate.”
A Conspiracy to Commit Omnicide
https://youtu.be/qkzpGTl4SWs
(2:15)
As reported by Counterpunch,17 in the five decades since Ellsberg leaked the Pentagon Papers, he’s been arrested more than 80 times for civil disobedience against war. In a recent podcast (video above), Ellsberg discussed how “nuclear war planners, of which I was one,” are conspiring to “commit omnicide, or near omnicide ... the death of everyone.”
“When Daniel Ellsberg leaked the Pentagon Papers in 1971, Henry Kissinger (then President Nixon’s national security advisor) called him ‘the most dangerous man in America.’ But those closely held secrets of the war in Vietnam were less explosive than the nuclear secrets that Ellsberg held in his safe,” Counterpunch writes.18
“Then a top strategist for the Defense Department, he had been party to plans for a nuclear holocaust. After being buried for safekeeping, those documents disappeared in a hurricane that literally blew away his secrets, but that didn’t dampen Ellsberg’s desire to share what he knew.
At 92, with mind sharp as ever, Ellsberg remains an undisputed expert on ‘national security.’ In this unusual illustrated podcast,19 he shares his unvarnished thoughts about the threat of nuclear annihilation and how it might be defused.
Can we simply ignore the reality of the world’s largest nuclear arsenals on hair-trigger alert — amid escalation of a new cold war with heightened nuclear dangers?
Indeed, the U.S. just enacted its biggest military budget in history, with unprecedented investment in weapons of mass destruction and their deployment. We ignore this impending disaster and its impassioned opponent, Daniel Ellsberg, at our own peril.”
Lies, Lies and More Lies
As previously detailed in “Lies Surrounding the Ukraine War” and “How This US Lie Will Likely Lead to War,” government lies, and the media’s complicity, are now threatening the lives of people around the world. According to the official narrative, the Ukraine war is the result of an unprovoked and unjustified invasion by Russia, but that’s simply not true.
The real trigger was NATO’s decision to allow Ukraine to join. Russia has long been very clear about the fact that it will not allow Ukraine to join NATO, for the simple fact that it would place a NATO military presence right on its border. Russia wants Ukraine to remain an independent “buffer zone” between itself and NATO countries.
Since Russia’s entry into Ukraine, the U.S. has done nothing but push for the escalation of conflict, to the point that we’re now hearing predictions about nuclear war. Why would we take such risks?
Would the U.S. allow Mexico to form a military alliance with China and install Chinese military at our southern border? That’s highly unlikely, yet that’s what NATO is pursuing in Ukraine.
Since Russia’s entry into Ukraine, the U.S. has done nothing but push for the escalation of conflict, to the point that we’re now hearing predictions about nuclear war. Why would we take such risks? To take a stand for Ukraine’s “right” to join NATO? What about the existential threat that poses to Russia? Any diplomatic solution will have to take the interests of both parties into account. Since NATO is refusing to do so, what choice does Russia have, really?
What’s more, the U.S. has poured billions of tax dollars into Ukraine, ostensibly to help Ukraine “fight for freedom and preserve democracy,” yet Ukraine has long been deemed one of the most corrupt countries in the world, and no one knows where all this money is going. It’s no surprise then to find that hundreds of millions of dollars have simply been embezzled. Yet the White House keeps insisting we send more. To what end, exactly?
The White House also denied responsibility for blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline — which is nothing short of an attack on NATO allies — even after evidence of its culpability came out.
According to Hersh, the “why” behind Biden’s decision to blow up the pipelines was threefold. First, it would massively impact Russia’s economy. Second, eliminating Germany’s and Western Europe’s ability to buy low-cost gas from Russia would force them to buy U.S. gas. And third, he feared Europe would be reluctant to supply Ukraine with money and weapons if they were reliant on Russian gas.
World War — Part 2 of The Great Reset Plan
All in all, the Biden administration appears hell-bent on escalating the conflict in Ukraine. The question is why, when escalation would likely turn into a nuclear world war? Is that what they want? And if so, why?
Russia's perspective is that it's fighting an existential threat in Ukraine. Meanwhile, evidence suggests the basis for the United States' interest in, and defense of, Ukraine is related to it being a valuable money laundering hub and, potentially, a secret biological weapons manufacturing ally.
Moreover, let’s not forget that Biden’s decision to send U.S. Armed Forces, including special forces, to Ukraine took place without Congressional oversight or authority.
As Americans, we cannot be naïve about any of this, seeing how it's our lives that will be destroyed were Russia to send nuclear missiles our way. Europeans also need to search their souls to determine whether protecting Deep State interests is really worth the price.
As reviewed in a previous article, world war appears to be Phase 2 of The Great Reset plan, which includes the destruction of supply chains, the energy sector, food supply and workforce, to create dependency on government, which in turn will be taken over by private interests and central banks through the collapse of the global economy.
Putting an end to the Ukraine war could go a long way toward thwarting that plan. At bare minimum, it would drastically delay the final implementation of The Great Reset, giving us time to work out other solutions.

The Original Deep State: The
Anglo-Canadian Hand Behind the Civil War and Lincoln's
Murder
by Matthew Ehret
What in Hell was Lincoln Actually Dealing With?
Beyond the
dangers of secession, Lincoln had to contend with the Wall Street financiers
and anglophile families who worked tirelessly to sabotage the president’s
ability to acquire the funds necessary to execute the war.
To make
matters worse, the state of economic affairs was impossibly unmanageable with
over 7000 recognized bank notes in the USA and over 1496 banks each issuing
multiple notes. Under this highly de-regulated system, made possible by the
1836 killing of the national bank years earlier under Andrew Jackson and the
passage of the 1846 Independent Treasury Act which prevented the government
from influencing economic affairs, every private bank could issue currencies
with no federal authority. With such a breakdown of finances, no national
projects were possible, international investments were scarce and free market
money worshipping ran rampant.
Manufacturing
collapsed, speculation took over and the slavocracy
grew in influence between the 1837’s bank panic and 1860. Despite the import of
new slaves from Africa having been made illegal, the population of black slaves
grew from two million in 1837 to four million at the start of the war due to
the fact that blacks were simply bred and sold like cattle.
While
modern defenders of the confederacy maintain the lie that slavery itself would
have disappeared peacefully in time had Lincoln not made it an issue, the fact
is that the Confederate Constitution enshrined
slavery as perpetual, actually making it illegal for any one
at any point to pas any law “denying or impairing the
right of property in negro slaves” [Article 1, Section9].
In Article
4, section 2, the constitution enshrined the Dred-Scott
fugitive slave amendment into law saying: “No slave or other person held to service or labor in any State or
Territory of the Confederate States, under the laws thereof, escaping or
unlawfully carried into another, shall, in consequence of any law or regulation
therein, be discharged from such service or labor; but shall be delivered up on
claim of the party to whom such slave belongs, or to whom such service or labor
may be due.”
Perhaps
most indicative of the nature of the struggle that nearly undid the republic in
1861 is the following devotion to British liberal monetarism banning
protectionism, national banking, or investments into internal improvements. In
Article 1 section 8 of the Confederate Constitution, we read: “no bounties shall be granted from the
treasury; nor shall any duties or taxes on importations from foreign nations be
laid to promote or foster any branch of industry; and all duties imposed and
excises shall be uniform throughout the Confederate States” and Congress
shall never “appropriate money for any
internal improvement intended to facilitate commerce”.

More Troubled Banks in America
https://www.globalresearch.ca/more-troubled-banks/5818160

As I reported at the time, the banking crisis is not limited
to Silicon Valley Bank. Silicon Valley Bank’s failure
was followed by the failures of New York Signature Bank and First Republic Bank
of San Francisco. Now three more banks have had their stock prices
collapse–Western Alliance, PacWest Bankcorp, and
Metropolitan Bank.
See:
The US Has the World Setup
for a Worse Financial Crisis Than in 2008
As I have
emphasized, the Federal Reserve’s higher interest rates are the cause of the
bank troubles. The decade of zero interest rates left banks with
portfolios of low interest rate assets on their balance sheets. As the
Federal Reserve raised rates, these assets declined in value. Depositors
saw that the banks were technically insolvent and
withdrew funds. Others withdrew funds because they can now get higher
interest rates from money market funds.
Banks
losing deposits are subject to runs. Expecting the worse, shareholders
sell their holdings of the banks’ stocks. As the banks lose market value,
troubles increase.
The
Federal Reserve is causing a banking crisis, because the Federal Reserve
imagines that the inflation is a monetary inflation and not an inflation
resulting from supply disruptions caused by Covid
lockdowns and Russian sanctions. If the Federal Reserve succeeds in
throttling the economy with higher interest rates, supply problems are aggravated
by reductions in production. In other words, as usual, the Federal
Reserve’s policy is counterproductive.
I have
always been amazed that Americans look to government entities for solutions
when incompetence is the main attribute of government.

How the War on Crypto Triggered a
Banking Crisis
https://scheerpost.com/2023/04/28/ellen-brown-how-the-war-on-crypto-triggered-a-banking-crisis/
by Ellen Brown
According to an article in American Banker titled “SEC’s Gensler Directly Links Crypto and Bank Failures,” SEC Chair
Gary Gensler has asked for more financial resources
to police the crypto market. Gensler testified at an
April 18 House Financial Services Committee hearing:
[Crypto
companies] have chosen to be noncompliant and not provide investors with
confidence and protections, and it undermines the $100 trillion capital markets
…
“Silvergate and Signature [banks] were engaged in the crypto
business — I mean some would say that they were crypto-backed …
Silicon
Valley Bank, actually when it failed, saw the country’s — the world’s —
second-leading stable coin had $3 billion involved there, depegged,
so it’s interesting just how this was all part of this crypto narrative as
well.”
Cryptocurrency experts Caitlin Long and Nic
Carter take the opposite view. They acknowledge the link between crypto and the
recent wave of bank failures and the runs and threatened runs they triggered,
but Carter and Long make a compelling case that it was the FDIC, the SEC and
the Federal Reserve that brought the banks down, by a coordinated,
extrajudicial “war on crypto” that blocked that otherwise-legal industry from
acquiring the banking services it needs.
The public
banking movement has run up against similar roadblocks. Both cryptocurrencies and publicly-owned banks compete with the
Wall Street-dominated private banking cartel, but more on that after a look at
the suspicious events behind the recent bank runs.

Maybe
Prigozhin is just really stressed out?
by Edward Slavsquat
Russian
pundits say Prigozhin is stating the obvious, while
Western "alt media" insists he's just stressed and needs a rest.
There's a lesson here, somewhere.
Yevgeny Prigozhin
has accused Russia’s top military brass
of brazen incompetence and outright treachery. He claims a sustained campaign
of political intrigue has led to shell hunger at the front, resulting in unsustainable casualties. Deprived of
ammunition, Wagner will be forced to withdraw from Bakhmut
on May 10, according to Prigozhin.
What to make
of all this? It is very distressing.
Fret not. The
Duran has convened an emergency group therapy
session:
·
“There’s a lot of
theories…I’ve got my own theory, and I’ll just say that I think Prigozhin needs to take a little bit of time off. That’s my
own thinking on this.”
·
“I think the man is under
extreme stress, and has been for a very very long
time…He’s clearly at the end of this tether.”
·
“He is exhausted, he is
completely stressed…I think he’s losing track of what he’s doing.”
·
“He’s clearly lost control
of what he’s saying, of what he’s doing, and he needs a rest.”
·
“He’s a civilian in Bakhmut, in a warzone, and it’s probably a place where a
civilian, even a billionaire founder of Wagner, should probably not spend too
much time in. Because after a while it obviously is going to affect you.”
For thirty
minutes, The Duran pontificates about Prigozhin’s
psychological state, without directly addressing a single grievance made by
him.
Nothing is
said about the well-documented shell hunger; nothing is said about anything,
really. (At around the 2:30 mark, Alexander Mercouris
rushes through a few carefully selected bullet points that he very obviously
poached from Rolo’s write-up of Prigozhin’s interview with Semyon Pegov—without crediting Rolo.)
Prigozhin is simply at the end of his
tether and needs a nice little rest. Case closed.

Russian Strikes Across Frontlines
Destroy Hundreds of Tons of Ukrainian Munitions: Attrition Limiting Ukraine’s
Ability to Sustain War
The Russian Military has reportedly seriously depleted
Ukrainian weapons stockpiles with a series of major strikes on its ammunition
depots, which Western sources have assessed could seriously undermine prospects
for a successful renewed Ukrainian offensive that was previously expected to begin
imminently.
On May 1
it was reported that a railway echelon with up to 200 tons of Ukrainian
munitions had been destroyed in a Russian missile strike in Donetsk, and
separately that Russian forces destroyed two missile divisions’ worth of S-300
air defence systems in an attack on Ukrainian depots
in Pavlograd in the Dnepropetrovsk Region. The latter
strike reportedly also saw Grom-2 tactical ballistic missile systems destroyed.
A third strike saw an ammunition depot of the Ukrainian 127th Mechanised Brigade in the Kharkov Region destroyed. This
followed the destruction of a network of Ukrainian arms manufacturing
facilities providing key sources of munitions on the night of April 30. These
attacks come as both Ukrainian and Western sources have warned that the
Ukrainian Military is falling increasingly short of munitions, particularly for its air defences which
could soon end its ability to maintain air denial on the frontlines. The
destruction of increasingly scarce S-300 missile systems follows a successful
air strike that destroyed four
missile launchers for Ukrainian S-300s on April 27,
which indicates that placing further pressure on Ukraine’s increasingly
strained surface to air missile network may be being prioritised.

Selling out Julian Assange
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/57522.htm
by Finian
Cunningham
The Australian government is finally
responding to growing public protests to get Julian Assange
freed from his British torture dungeon.
As the
world marks World Press Freedom Day on May 3, the most appropriate result would
be the immediate release of Julian Assange. It is a
travesty to ‘celebrate’ this day while he is incarcerated.
Australian-born
Assange has been arbitrarily detained in Britain for
11 years over a baseless sex case that has been thrown out years ago. But the
British government acting as a henchman for the United States has held Assange in solitary confinement for over four years
awaiting extradition to the United States. In the U.S., he faces charges of
spying and computer hacking that could see him spend the rest of his life in
prison.
Julian Assange is being persecuted because he exposed the U.S. and
British war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan and countless other forms of
corruption by Washington and its lackey Western allies. Assange
is being buried under concrete walls because he exposed the truth of corruption
that lies at the heart of the U.S. government.
What’s at
stake is hugely vital. Not only one good man’s freedom but
the entire right of free speech and independent journalism and the right of the
public to know. If Julian Assange’s
persecution is permitted then we can say goodbye to basic human rights. The
degradation of Western media is rapidly underway as the Assange
case illustrates. But it could get a lot worse if the injustice against Assange is allowed.
Dave Lindorff explains how public pressure demanding the release
of Julian Assange is pushing the Australian
government to finally, belatedly, make representations
on getting him out of detention. There is a worldwide movement in support of Assange.
Ron
Ridenour says that the Western public needs to ramp up the protests in a way
similar to the 1960s movement for U.S. civil rights and anti-Vietnam war.
Ridenour
and Lindorff condemn the Western mainstream media for
selling out Assange and not helping to amplify the
pressure for justice. Ridenour lampoons the corporate Western media as
prostitutes for the powers that be. He challenges the New York Times,
Washington Post and others to prove they are not prostitutes by taking up the
cause to demand Assange’s freedom.

“Julian Assange
and World Press Freedom Day”
https://scheerpost.com/2023/05/03/chris-hedges-julian-assange-and-world-press-freedom-day/
by Chris Hedges
The
detention and persecution of Julian Assange
eviscerates all pretense of the rule of law and the rights of a free press. The
illegalities, embraced by the Ecuadorian, British, Swedish and U.S. governments
are ominous. They presage a world where the internal workings, abuses,
corruption, lies and crimes, especially war crimes, carried out by corporate
states and the global ruling elite, will be masked from the public. They
presage a world where those with the courage and integrity to expose the misuse
of power will be hunted down, tortured, subjected to sham trials and given
lifetime prison terms in solitary confinement. They presage an Orwellian
dystopia where news is replaced with propaganda, trivia and entertainment. The
legal lynching of Julian, I fear, marks the official beginning of the corporate
totalitarianism that will define our lives.
Under what
law did Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno capriciously terminate Julian’s
rights of asylum as a political refugee? Under what law did Moreno authorize
British police to enter the Ecuadorian Embassy — diplomatically sanctioned
sovereign territory — to arrest a naturalized citizen of Ecuador? Under what
law did Donald Trump criminalize journalism and demand the extradition of
Julian, who is not a U.S. citizen and whose news organization is not based in
the United States? Under what law did the CIA violate attorney-client
privilege, surveil and record all of Julian’s
conversations both digital and verbal with his lawyers and plot to kidnap him
from the Embassy and assassinate him?
The
corporate state eviscerates enshrined rights by judicial fiat. This is how we
have the right to privacy, with no privacy. This is how we have “free”
elections funded by corporate money, covered by a compliant corporate media and
under iron corporate control. This is how we have a legislative process in
which corporate lobbyists write the legislation and corporate-indentured
politicians vote it into law. This is how we have the right to due process with
no due process. This is how we have a government — whose fundamental
responsibility is to protect citizens — that orders and carries out the
assassination of its own citizens, such as the Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and his 16-year-old son. This is how we have a press
which is legally permitted to publish classified information and our
generation’s most important publisher sitting in solitary confinement in a high
security prison awaiting extradition to the United States.
The
psychological torture of Julian — documented by the United Nations special rapporteur on torture, Nils Melzer — mirrors the breaking
of the dissident Winston Smith in George Orwell’s novel “1984.” The Gestapo
broke bones. The East German Stasi broke souls. We, too, have refined the
cruder forms of torture to destroy souls as well as bodies. It is more
effective. This is what they are doing to Julian, steadily degrading his
physical and psychological health. It is a slow-motion execution. This is by
design. Julian has spent much of his time in isolation,
is often heavily sedated and has been denied medical treatment for a variety of
physical ailments. He is routinely denied access to his lawyers. He has lost a
lot of weight, suffered a minor stroke, spent time in the prison hospital wing
— which prisoners call the hell wing — because he is suicidal, been placed in
prolonged solitary confinement, observed banging his head against the wall and
hallucinating. Our version of Orwell’s dreaded Room 101.

Julian Assange

commit computer intrusion” for allegedly giving advice to Army Corporal Bradley

Australia: “Outsourced to the US
Military Establishment”
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/57523.htm
by Binoy Kampmark
It’s a
very funny thing. In the US, the provision of services in such industries
as security and intelligence is outsourced in a sprawling complex of
contractors and subcontractors. In Australia, the entire military and
security establishment is outsourced to Washington’s former mandarins, many of
them earning a pile in consultancy fees. This, perhaps, is what
Australia’s Defence Minister Richard Marles means when he talks about the Australian Defence Force moving
“beyond interoperability to interchangeability.”
The list
of recipients is depressingly long, and suggests that Australia has ceased to
have any pretensions of sovereignty in defence
matters. Take, for instance, the appointment of US Vice Admiral William Hilarides to the post of reviewing the future of the Royal
Australian Navy’s surface fleet, for which he is pocketing US$4,000 a
day. Since 2016, he has received US$1.3 million in contracts from the Australian government.
Hilarides featured in a story by the Washington Post
last year, which revealed that two retired US admirals and three former US Navy
civilian leaders were “playing critical but secretive roles as paid advisers to
the government of Australia during its negotiations to acquire top-secret
nuclear submarine technology from the United States and Britain.”

Tucker Carlson Tried to Serve Two
Masters
https://consortiumnews.com/2023/04/27/tucker-carlson-tried-to-serve-two-masters/
by Jonathan Cook
The Fox News host paid the price
because he tried the impossible — straddling the divide between corporate media
and critical journalism, writes Jonathan Cook.
Many of the
people who are now busy hating on Tucker Carlson, with reason, are missing the
bigger picture. Carlson was a genuine aberration in U.S. corporate media. Which is why he is gone — sacked by media “titan” Rupert Murdoch.
Yes, over the years Carlson played
on white fears, placing him firmly on the right. But he also gave over his
massive corporate platform at Fox News to some of the most critical and
thoughtful independent journalists and pundits around — from Glenn Greenwald
and Aaron Matè to Jimmy Dore.
Carlson not only brought them into
the living rooms of Main Street, he also undoubtedly helped them grow their audiences
and influence.
In that way, he exposed ordinary
Americans to critical perspectives, especially on U.S. foreign policy, that
they had no hope of hearing anywhere else — and most certainly not from
so-called “liberal” corporate media outlets like CNN and MSNBC.
And he did so while constantly
ridiculing the media’s craven collusion with those in power.
But all that is being ignored. Media
analysis of Carlson’s departure has focused so far almost exclusively on his
clashes with Fox News management, and a series of disrespectful tweets, that
have come to light as a result of the recent Dominion court case, in which
Murdoch was forced to settle with a massive payout.
But those clashes cannot be
understood outside a wider context in which Carlson was pushing against
institutional media constraints at Fox designed to prevent the real work of
journalism — holding the powerful to account.

We Are Being Smashed Politically,
Economically, Medically and Technologically by the
Elite’s ‘Great Reset’: Why? How Do We Fight Back Effectively?
by Robert J. Burrowes
Since the dawn of human civilization 5,000 years ago,
ordinary people like you and me have been engaged in an endless struggle to
resist efforts by elites, whether local, national, international or global, to
assert complete control over us and the resources around us.
And for
5,000 years, with some wins and a great many losses, we have managed to stave
off the worst.
Finally,
in January 2020, the World Economic Forum launched its ‘Great Reset’: The final
assault in the Elite’s long war against humankind and nature itself.
As we pass
the third anniversary since this final battle was launched, it is well worth
evaluating the progress of our resistance.
Is our
resistance being effective? Are we succeeding?
Unfortunately,
as is obvious from any serious evaluation, we are being smashed. Let me explain
why.
[While
they are not addressed in this article, I wish to acknowledge the range of
other profound threats that pose a serious risk to any worthwhile human future,
most notably the threat of nuclear war which arguably stands greater than at
any previous time in human history.]
Evaluating
Progress . . .
Any
strategy to resolve a conflict of this nature must begin with a sound analysis
of what is happening:
Who is
driving it (which answers the question ‘Who benefits?’) What do they intend?
Why are they doing it? And how?
Only once
these questions have been clearly answered is it possible to develop a strategy
that will be adequate to the challenge posed by the threat.

Robert Kennedy, Jr. is running for
president. I could not possibly be more excited. So, I’m going to give Bobby
some unsolicited advice, which, if he knows what’s good for him, he will not
take.
I feel OK
about doing this because, even if Bobby, in the wee hours of the night, when
the mind is vulnerable to dangerous ideas, were to seriously consider taking my
advice, I am sure he has people — i.e., PR people, campaign strategists,
pollsters, and so on — that would not hesitate to take him aside and disabuse
him of any inclination to do that.
OK, before
I give Bobby this terrible advice, I have to do the “full disclosure” thing.
I’m a pretty big fan of RFK, Jr. I don’t generally get involved in electoral
politics, but, if I were a Democrat, I would definitely vote for him. Also, he
was kind enough to blurb my book (which isn’t going to make his PR people happy) and invite me
onto his podcast, RFK, Jr. The Defender, to talk about “New Normal”
totalitarianism. So, I am fairly biased in favor of Bobby Kennedy. I
think he is an admirable, honorable human being. I would love to see him in the
Oval Office.
That isn’t
going to happen, of course. The global-capitalist ruling classes are never
going to let him near the Oval Office. They learned their lesson back in 2016.
There are not going to be any more unauthorized presidents. The folks at GloboCap are done playing grab-ass, and they want us to
know that they are done playing grab-ass. That’s what the last six years have
been about.

Global Governance by Artificial
Intelligence: The Ultimate Unaccountable Tyranny
by Brandon Smith
It’s no secret that globalist institutions are obsessed with
Artificial Intelligence as some kind of technological prophecy. They treat it
as if it is almost supernatural in its potential and often argue that every
meaningful industrial and social innovation in the near future will owe its
existence to AI.
The World Economic Forum cites AI as the singular
key to the rise of what they call the “Fourth
Industrial Revolution.” In their view, there can be no human progress
without the influence of AI algorithms, making human input almost obsolete.
This
delusion is often promoted by globalist propagandists. For example, take
a look at the summarized vision of WEF member Yuval Harari,
who actually believes that AI has creative ability that will replace human
imagination and innovation. Not only that, but Harari
has consistently argued in the past that AI will run the world much better than
human beings ever could.

“How Covid
lockdowns primed the current financial crisis”
https://thegrayzone.com/2023/03/15/covid-lockdowns-financial-crisis/
by Christian Parenti
The lockdowns and the stimulus
required to keep the economy alive helped drive
inflation. Then the Fed jacked up interest rates. And all hell broke loose.
On Friday
March 10th, 2023, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) died of Covid.
Alright, it’s a little more complicated than that, but Covid
lockdowns followed by massive government stimulus were a critical – and
massively under-acknowledged – factor in propelling the bank’s demise.
At the
heart of the crisis is the gigantic pile of low-interest debt that was issued
during the height of the pandemic. While private-sector pandemic-era debt like
corporate bonds also soared, US government debt like Treasury bonds piled up.
In a
nutshell, during the pandemic the government issued enormous amounts of
extremely low interest government debt — about $4.2 trillion of it. But now
interest rates, including on government debt, are higher than they have been in
15 years and investors are dumping their old low-interest debt. As they dump,
the resale price of the old debt goes down. The more it declines, the more
investors want to dump. And thus, a panic is born.
To
understand the problem fully, the question of US government debt has to be put
into its larger context, which is: the pandemic response as a whole.

“From Yellow Journalism to China
Bashing, the Media’s Enduring Role in Promoting War”
by John Pilger
In 1935,
the Congress of American Writers was held in New York City, followed by another
two years later. They called on ‘the hundreds of poets, novelists, dramatists,
critics, short story writers and journalists’ to discuss the ‘rapid crumbling
of capitalism’ and the beckoning of another war. They were electric events
which, according to one account, were attended by 3,500 members of the public,
with more than a thousand turned away.
Arthur
Miller, Myra Page, Lillian Hellman, and Dashiell
Hammett warned that fascism was rising, often disguised, and writers and
journalists were responsible for speaking out. Telegrams of support from Thomas
Mann, John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, C Day Lewis, Upton Sinclair and Albert
Einstein were read out.
The
journalist and novelist Martha Gellhorn spoke up for
the homeless and unemployed and ‘all of us under the shadow of violent great
power.’
Martha,
who became a close friend, told me later over her customary glass of Famous
Grouse and soda: ‘The responsibility I felt as a journalist was immense. I had
witnessed the injustices and suffering delivered by the Depression, and I knew,
we all knew, what was coming if silences were not broken.’
Her words
echo across the silences today: they are silences filled with a consensus of
propaganda that contaminates almost everything we read, see and hear. Let me
give you one example:
On 7
March, the two oldest newspapers in Australia, the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, published several pages on ‘the looming threat’ of China.
They coloured the Pacific Ocean red. Chinese eyes
were martial, on the march and menacing. The Yellow Peril was about to fall
down as if by the weight of gravity.”

What China Is Really Playing at in
Ukraine
https://www.globalresearch.ca/what-china-really-playing-at-ukraine/5817929
by Pepe
Escobar
Beijing is fully aware the NATO
proxy war against Russia in Ukraine is the un-dissociable double of the U.S.
war against its Belt and Road Initiative.
Imagine President Xi Jinping
mustering undiluted Taoist patience to suffer through a phone call with that
warmongering actor in a sweaty T-shirt in Kiev while attempting to teach him a
few facts of life – complete with the promise of sending a high-level Chinese
delegation to Ukraine to discuss “peace”.
There’s
way more than meets the discerning eye obscured by this spun-to-death
diplomatic “victory” – at least from the point of view of NATOstan.
The
question is inevitable: what’s the point of this phone call? Very simple: just
business.
The
Beijing leadership is fully aware the NATO proxy war against Russia in Ukraine
is the un-dissociable double of an American direct war against the Belt and
Road Initiative (BRI).
Until
recently, and since 2019, Beijing was the top trade partner for Kiev (14.4% of
imports, 15.3% of exports). China essentially exported
machinery, equipment, cars and chemical products, importing food products,
metals and also some machinery.
Very few
in the West know that Ukraine joined BRI way back in 2014, and a BRI trade and
investment center was operating in Kiev since 2018. BRI projects include a 2017
drive to build the fourth line of the Kiev metro system as well as 4G installed
by Huawei. Everything is stalled since 2022.
Noble Agri, a subsidiary of COFCO (China National Cereals, Oils
and Foodstuffs Corporation), invested in a sunflower seed processing complex in
Mariupol and the recently built Mykolaiv
grain port terminal. The next step will necessarily feature cooperation between
Donbass authorities and the Chinese when it comes to
rebuilding their assets that may have been damaged during the war.

Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM), the European Union has aided and abetted
crimes against humanity, according to a recent UN report.
On March
27, 2023, the United Nations released the findings of a three-year
investigation, confirming that “arbitrary detention, murder, rape, enslavement,
sexual slavery, extrajudicial killing and enforced disappearance” has become a
“widespread practice” in the once-prosperous nation of Libya, which was plunged
into civil war by NATO’s regime change war over a decade ago.
While
crimes against humanity were found to be widespread throughout the country, the
report homed in on the plight of migrants and blamed the European Union for
enabling the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity to enact abuses against
Africans seeking asylum in Europe.
The report stated in its introductory section: “The Mission found that crimes
against humanity were committed against migrants in places of detention under
the actual or nominal control of Libya’s Directorate for Combating Illegal
Migration, the Libyan Coast Guard and the Stability Support Apparatus. These
entities received technical, logistical and monetary support from the European
Union and its member States for, inter alia, the interception and return of
migrants.”
In other
words, rather than directly intercepting migrants traveling by boat to Europe,
the European Union has outsourced the dirty work to the Libyan Coast Guard.
Once the coast guard detains the migrants, they are sent back to Libya and
transferred to both official and “secret prisons” where they are often
exploited for financial gain through forced labor, ransom, or sexual
slavery.

Capitalism Hits Home: “All Empires

In this
episode of Capitalism Hits Home, Dr. Fraad traces a
brief history of the rise and fall of the American empire. Throughout much of
the 20th century, the US was the dominant global power, with strong unions,
social programs, and a strong currency. Today, our wealthiest people are barely
taxed, social services are weak, hunger and poverty are
worse than ever, and the dollar is losing its primacy. How did we get here? How
can we face this shift in global power and move forward? Dr. Fraad explores these questions.

Poverty and Crisis: Sucking
Humanity Dry
https://off-guardian.org/2023/04/29/poverty-and-crisis-sucking-humanity-dry/
by Colin Todhunter
The World Bank says nearly 80% (560 million) of
the 700 million people who were pushed into extreme poverty in 2020 due to
COVID policies were from India. Globally, extreme poverty levels increased by
9.3 per cent in 2020.
In 2022,
it was estimated that a quarter of a billion people across the
world would be pushed into absolute poverty in that year alone.
In the UK,
poverty is increasing in two-thirds of communities, as millions go without heat and skip meals.
Due to the ‘cost-of-living crisis’, 10.5 million are experiencing financial
difficulty. An additional 13.7 million people would be at risk of financial
difficulty with further increases in costs.
Living standards in the UK are plummeting. For instance, 28 per cent (up from 9 per cent pre-COVID)
of UK adults said that they could not afford to eat balanced meals. Absolute
poverty is set to rise from 17.2 per cent in 2021-22 to 18.3 per cent in
2023-24, pushing an additional 800,000 people into poverty.
In
England, 100,000 children have been frozen out of free
school meals.
In the US,
around 30 million low-income people are on the edge of a ‘hunger cliff’ as a portion
of their federal food assistance is taken away. In 2021, it was estimated
that one in eight children were going hungry in the US.
Small businesses are filing for bankruptcy in the US at a record rate. Private bankruptcy filings in 2023 have exceeded the highest point
recorded during the early stages of COVID by a considerable amount. The
four-week moving average for private filings in late February 2023 was 73 per
cent higher than in June 2020.
Meanwhile,
nearly 100 of the biggest US publicly traded
companies recorded 2021 profit margins that
were at least 50 per cent higher than their 2019 levels.
The Bank
of England’s chief economist Huw Pill says that
people should ‘accept’ being poorer. This is similar to the response of Rob Kapito, co-founder of the world’s biggest asset management firm BlackRock. In 2022, he said that a “very entitled”
generation of people who have never had to sacrifice would soon have to face
shortages for the first time in their lives.

75 years ago on May 13, 1948. The Palestinian Catastrophe prevails. In a 2018 report, the United Nations stated
that Gaza had become “unliveable”:
With an economy in free fall, 70 per cent
youth unemployment, widely contaminated drinking water and a collapsed health

2018] according to the Special Rapporteur on human
rights in the Palestinian Territories.
The above UN assessment dates back to
2018. Under Netanyahu, Israel is currently proceeding with the plan to
annex large chunks of Palestinian territory “while keeping the Palestinian
inhabitants in conditions of severe deprivation and isolation.”
Creating
conditions of extreme poverty and economic collapse constitute the means for triggering
the expulsion and exodus of Palestinians from their homeland. It is
part of the process of annexation.
“If the manoeuvre is

brand-new book, Greater Than the Sum of Our

Elia analyzes the historical and
present-day struggle against Zionism while keeping a focus on how Israel’s
militarism and settler-colonialism deliberately affects women.
For
example, she says, after the 1967 military occupation began, Israel stopped
issuing licenses to Palestinian midwives, effectively banning Palestinians from
giving birth at home and forcing women to give birth only at hospitals – which
have been intentionally under-resourced and only accessible through
Israeli checkpoints.
“When a

she explains.
Palestinians,
she adds, are “the ‘demographic threat.’ How do we
stop the demographic threat? We make it illegal to give birth at home. … We

fatal to get to the hospital. That’s one example of how settler-colonialism is

What China's growing power means
for Palestine
https://electronicintifada.net/blogs/ali-abunimah/what-chinas-growing-power-means-palestine
by Ali
Abunimah
Central to
considering China’s role is looking at the rapid unraveling of US global power,
especially in the light of the US going all-in on a proxy war against Russia on
the European continent, which Ukraine has no chance of winning.
In many
regions China is stepping into the vacuum left by the US, gaining friends and
allies not with military threats, but by building infrastructure including
roads, ports, schools and hospitals in dozens of countries all over the world.
In Iraq,
which was destroyed by the United States, for example, China is building 8,000 schools.
A major
win for Chinese diplomacy was its recent brokering of an historic
reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran, a rapprochement that has the potential to bring progress on other
fronts, such as finally ending the US-led proxy wars in Syria and Yemen.
“What
China has been able to do is say to Saudi Arabia, ‘if you want us to trade with
you in currencies other than the dollar, if you want the benefit of a good
relationship with us, then you have to drop the sectarian agenda in the region
and be willing to engage with Iran as a good faith actor,” Lowkey
explains.
Saudi
Arabia, long dependent on the US, is now diversifying its relations with other
major powers. As it does so, it sees less need to normalize ties with Israel, a
move whose primary purpose would have been to please its patrons in Washington.
According
to Lowkey, this realignment is also giving resistance
factions in Palestine and Lebanon “a new found confidence” to confront Israel
as a united front.
“They
understand that when Iran is taken out of isolation, so too are the resistance
factions,” Lowkey adds. “Instantly what that does is
weaken Israel’s ability to assert power over the Palestinians.”

Why the Saudis have called off
their Israeli wedding
https://electronicintifada.net/content/why-saudis-have-called-their-israeli-wedding/37561
by Ali Abunimah
After
leading Israel’s extreme far-right to victory in last November’s elections, a
buoyant Benjamin Netanyahu hoped to quickly resume Tel Aviv’s march towards
full normalization with Arab regimes.
Netanyahu
was still flying high from the so-called Abraham Accords, the deals brokered under the
Trump administration between Israel on the one hand, and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco on the other.
But there
was major unfinished business for the incoming government: Saudi Arabia.
Although
Riyadh has made major moves to cozy up to Tel Aviv, the kingdom still remains formally outside the
Abraham Accords.
And as
Netanyahu himself acknowledged in November, the diplomatic and trade relations deals with the smaller
Arab states “didn’t happen without Saudi approval.”
Netanyahu
claimed that finally establishing formal ties with the Saudis would be a “quantum leap” that would “effectively end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict” – presumably by isolating and weakening the Palestinians even further, or so the Israelis must hope.
It would
also solidify the American-led axis against Iran, long the arch-enemy of the
regimes in Tel Aviv and Riyadh.
Perhaps
hoping to butter up the Saudis, Netanyahu in December publicly urged Washington to reaffirm its commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security – amid
shaky ties between the White House and the absolute monarchy.
The Biden
administration – which has always been as enthusiastic about the Abraham
Accords as Trump – apparently did its best to broker backchannel talks to try
to clinch a Saudi-Israel deal, as The
Wall Street Journal revealed in March.
But the exorbitant demands reportedly put forward by the Saudis – US security guarantees, more arms
sales and assistance with a civilian nuclear program – looked like they were
designed to be rejected, and thus to provide Riyadh with a way out of formally
embracing Israel.
This was the
first significant sign that the Saudis were having a change of heart about
turning their engagement with Israel into a marriage.

Israel Kills Palestinian West Bank
Leader And Attacks Gaza After Rocket Fire
by Robert Inlakesh
Israeli military prison authorities allowed for a
Palestinian political spokesperson, Khader Adnan, to die in his prison cell after entering day 87 of a
hunger strike this Tuesday morning. The political prisoner’s death was dubbed
an assassination by the Palestinian Prisoners Society organization and the
Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement. Israel claims no wrong doing, as
Western media pretend that Tel Aviv had no hand in the public figure’s death.
Khader Adnan
was a prominent Palestinian political figure from Arrabeh
village in Jenin and was the spokesperson for the PIJ
movement in the West Bank. He rose to prominence in the late 1990’s, advocating
for resistance against Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory. This led
to Israeli occupation forces arresting and imprisoning him a total of 12 times
over the course of two decades, where he would go on to launch hunger strikes
in protest of what have been described as erroneous charges — cooked up by a
military court system that carries a 99.7% conviction rate. In 2012, Khader Adnan went on a 66-day
hunger strike, then in 2014 he conducted a 56-day
hunger strike.
On
February 5, Israeli occupation forces raided Jenin
and kidnapped Khader Adnan
from his home. Adnan was placed under Administrative
Detention — in other words, he was held without charge using a procedure which
allows Israel to detain people for renewable periods of 6 months without the
filing of charges or trial, all in “the
only democracy on the Middle East”. This led Adnan
to begin another hunger strike in order to try and achieve his release from
Israeli military prison. He lasted a total of 87 days without food, while his
family repeatedly called upon the Israeli prison authorities to hospitalize him,
his wife warning that he could die at any moment after the hunger strike had
lasted 80 days. Physicians For Human Rights Israel, a
medical human rights group, warned that Khader Adnan “faces imminent death” and called for an urgent
hospital transfer. On Tuesday morning, he was then “found unconscious in his
cell” the Israel Prison Service stated.
Khader Adnan
was killed by the Israeli authorities, who have a legal obligation to provide
care to prisoners, allowing for a man that was not part of any military
activity, who was held without a charge, and who was simply calling for a
release date to be issued, to slowly die of starvation in a cold cell. Israel
had received warnings from the PIJ movement, based in the besieged Gaza Strip,
that if he was allowed to die from medical neglect, it would be considered to
be an assassination and that this would trigger a response from the armed wing
of the movement.
Israel
reported mortar fire from Gaza on Tuesday morning, which no group claimed
responsibility for and allegedly landed in an open area. The Israeli military
then used tanks to bombard training sites, owned by the armed wing of Hamas,
the Qassam Brigades. At around 3:30PM (Palestine
time), 22 rockets were then fired into Sderot, from
Gaza, with Israel’s air defense system reportedly only intercepting 4. An
Israeli settler’s house, a building site, and two cars were allegedly damaged
by the rocket fire, while a 25-year-old Israeli man was severely injured and
administered to hospital care. Israeli Hebrew media outlets reported that 6
Israelis had been injured by the rocket fire, however,
the other five were treated for panic attacks.

“Sometimes,
I tutor poor children for free,” he said.
But, with
only four students who pay him $8 per month, he has had to supplement this
income by working as a waste collector, which pays $288 monthly.
It’s a

Plus, he
considers himself lucky to have a job at all.
The unemployment rate in Gaza was 73.9 percent among college graduates aged 19 to 29 in 2022.

Britain declares war on a slogan
Suella Braverman, the British home
secretary, claims to be outraged by expressions of solidarity with
Palestinians.

by Kit Klarenberg

“From the river to the sea,
Palestine will be free.”
It is a
simple message that resonates with everyone who abhors oppression.
It is also
inclusive. The demand is not for liberty in the West Bank or Gaza only but
throughout historic Palestine – the land between the River Jordan and the
Mediterranean Sea.
Evidently,
the clear and simple message is unpalatable for Israel’s most ardent
supporters. Among those supporters is Britain, the state which – through the
1917 Balfour Declaration – sponsored the Zionist colonization project, thereby
robbing Palestinians of freedom and other basic rights.
Suella Braverman,
the British home secretary, recently complained about “so-called anti-Israel protesters singing anti-Semitic chants like
‘from the river to the sea’ with impunity.”
Contending
that aspiring for freedom in Palestine amounts to hatred of Jews is patently
absurd. The patently absurd arguments of Israel and its supporters are
nonetheless taken seriously by the West’s ruling elites.
So it comes
as little surprise that Britain – which has supposedly protected free speech for centuries – is going to war against a slogan.
In an interview with the pro-Israel Jewish
Chronicle, Braverman argued that the slogan
was “totally unacceptable,” as was “people waving flags of proscribed terrorist
organizations like Hamas and Hizballah.”
She added
that she would expect the police and the prosecution services “to act where
they encounter this.”

So, I’m going to give Bobby some unsolicited advice, which, if he knows what’s
good for him, he will not take.
I feel OK about doing this because, even if Bobby,
in the wee hours of the night, when the mind is vulnerable to dangerous ideas,
were to seriously consider taking my advice, I am sure he has people — i.e., PR
people, campaign strategists, pollsters, and so on — that would not hesitate to
take him aside and disabuse him of any inclination to do that.
OK, before I give Bobby this terrible advice, I have
to do the “full disclosure” thing. I’m a pretty big fan of RFK, Jr. I don’t
generally get involved in electoral politics, but, if I were a Democrat, I
would definitely vote for him. Also, he was kind enough to blurb my book (which isn’t going to make his PR people happy) and invite me

totalitarianism. So, I am fairly biased in favor of Bobby Kennedy. I
think he is an admirable, honorable human being. I would love to see him in the

That isn’t going to happen, of course. The

America, the Single-Opinion Cult
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/57520.htm
by Matt Taibbi
Not long
ago I was writing in defense of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. When she first entered Congress as an inner-city
twenty something who’d knocked off longtime insider
Joe Crowley with a Sandersian policy profile, her own
party’s establishment ridiculed her as a lefty Trump. Nancy Pelosi scoffed that
her win just meant voters “made a choice in one district,” so “let’s not get carried away.” Ben Ritz, director
of the Progressive Policy Institute, an offshoot of the old Democratic
Leadership Council, groused, “Oh, please, she just promised everyone a bunch of
free stuff.”
This was
before AOC decided to be the
next Pelosi, instead of the next Sanders. The above sit-down on MSNBC shows the
transformation. Having shed the mantle of an outsider who shook the old guard
with online savvy, she appeared in soft light for a softball “interview,” by a
literal Biden official (Inside With Jen Psaki is as close as you can get to a
formal dissolution of the line between White House and media). In it, she
seemed to argue for the outlaw of Fox News. “We have very real issues with what is
permissible on air,” she said, adding people like Tucker Carlson are “very
clearly” guilty of “incitement to violence,” a problem in light of “federal
regulation in terms of what’s allowed on air and what isn’t.”
I was
attracted to liberalism as a young person precisely because it didn’t want to
ban things. Every liberal morality play in the seventies, eighties and nineties
featured a finger-wagging moralist who couldn’t stomach an obscene joke (Jerry Falwell, over a Hustler parody),
“obscene” art (Cincinnati’s Contemporary Arts Center, over Robert Mapplethorpe’s photos), “objectionable” music (Tipper Gore, in the now-seems-tame record-labeling furor), or unpredictable humor
(NBC, in its attempts to put Richard Pryor on tape delay for Saturday Night Live). Pryor’s favored
writer Paul Mooney objected so much to all the hoops they had to jump through
to be allowed on air, he ended up writing a parody “job interview” skit that
sent SNL’s ratings soaring,
though ironically it would probably never air today:

Although Scarred by Violence, We
Must Not be Scared Into Silence
https://www.globalresearch.ca/although-scarred-violence-we-must-not-scared-into-silence/5818047
by Edward Curtin
The world has been haunted by human violence since time
immemorial. There are untold millions (billions?) of people all over the world
who have been scarred by it in all its forms. There are two basic responses:
one is to try to return that violence with violence and defeat one’s enemy; the
other is, in Martin Luther King, Jr.’s words, to “not
seek to defeat or humiliate the opponent, but to win his friendship and
understanding” through a non-violent response. Politicians usually embrace the
former, while those who are called dreamers advocate the latter.
Between
these two, there are various mixed responses, with sane political leaders
calling for mutual respect between countries and an end to aggressive
provocations leading to warfare, such has occurred with the United States
provoking the war in Ukraine.
We have
entered the time when the destruction of all life on earth through nuclear war
is imminent unless a radical transformation occurs. If the word imminent sounds
extreme, it is worth considering that there will be no announcement. The
time to speak up is now. It is always now.
Great
literature speaks to the issue of violence at the deepest levels.
Homer’s Odyssey is the classic case of
violent revenge. At the end of the story, Odysseus, who was scarred in youth by
a wild boar, finally returns home from the Trojan War after ten years of
wandering. Doubly scarred now by the horrors of war with its horrendous slaughters
(see The Iliad), he arrives at
his home disguised in a beggar’s rags. His nursemaid from childhood recognizes
him from the scar on his thigh. In his house he finds scores of suitors who are
hitting on his wife Penelope. He is enraged and steps
onto the threshold, rips off his rags, and systematically massacres every last
one of them. Flesh and gore swim in the blood-drenched room, while in the
courtyard twelve unfaithful serving maids hang from their necks. This is the
quintessential western story of revenge where the wounded hero kills the bad
guys and the violent beat goes on and on.
It appeals
to our lesser angels, for while Odysseus’s rage is understandable,
its consequences leave a toxic legacy.
But there
is another response that draws on another tradition that is symbolized by Jesus
on the cross, executed by the Roman state as a subversive criminal. He didn’t
die on a private cross, for his crime was public. Martin Luther King, Jr.
and Mahatma Gandhi are famous exemplars of non-violent resistance in
modern times, as they too were executed by the state. Non-violence seems, on
the surface at least, to be less effective than violence and contrary to much
of human history.
If it is,
however, we are doomed. For we have nuclear weapons now, not bows and arrows
and spears. We have nuclear weapons hitched to computers. Digital
weapons of multiple sorts and mad leaders intent on pushing us to the brink of
extinction.
The United
States’ instigation of the war in Ukraine against Russia and its push for war
with China are current prime examples. They are part of the continuing
vast tapestry of lies that Harold Pinter spoke of in his 2005 Nobel Address. He
said, in part:
The United
States supported and in many cases engendered every right wing military
dictatorship in the world after the end of the Second World War. I refer to
Indonesia, Greece, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Haiti, Turkey, the Philippines,
Guatemala, El Salvador, and, of course, Chile. The horror the United States
inflicted upon Chile in 1973 can never be purged and can never be forgiven. . .
. The crimes of the United States have been systematic, constant, vicious,
remorseless, but very few people have actually talked about them.
This is
still true, as John Pilger has just warned us in a
powerful article: “There Is A War
Coming Shrouded In Propaganda. It Will Involve Us. Speak Up”
The rise
of fascism in Europe is uncontroversial. Or ‘neo-Nazism’ or ‘extreme
nationalism,’ as you prefer. Ukraine as modern Europe’s fascist beehive has
seen the re-emergence of the cult of Stepan Bandera,
the passionate anti-Semite and mass murderer who lauded Hitler’s ‘Jewish
policy,’ which left 1.5 million Ukrainian Jews slaughtered. ‘We will lay your
heads at Hitler’s feet,’ a Banderist pamphlet
proclaimed to Ukrainian Jews.
Today,
Bandera is hero-worshipped in western Ukraine and scores of statues of him and
his fellow-fascists have been paid for by the EU and the U.S., replacing those
of Russian cultural giants and others who liberated Ukraine from the original
Nazis.
In 2014,
neo Nazis played a key role in an American bankrolled coup against the elected
president, Viktor Yanukovych, who was accused of being
“pro-Moscow.” The coup regime included prominent “extreme nationalists” — Nazis
in all but name.
The U.S.
led support for this war must stop. Who will stop it?
Homer told us something quite important once upon a time, as did many
poets, artists, and writers in the twentieth-century. They warned us of the monsters we were spawning, as Pilger
says: “Arthur Miller, Myra Page, Lillian Hellman, Dashiell
Hammett warned that fascism was rising, often disguised, and the responsibility
lay with writers and journalists to speak out.” He rightly bemoans the
absence of such voices now, as writers have disappeared into post-modern
silence, a part of the cultural war on dissent.
On a
subtler and more personal note than Homer’s tale of revenge, we have the
testimony of Albert Camus who was part of the Resistance to the German
occupation of France during WW II. At the beginning of his beautiful,
posthumous, and autobiographical novel, The
First Man, Camus tells us about Jacques Cormery
(Camus), who never knew his father, a French soldier killed in World War I –
the misnamed grotesque War to End All Wars – when Jacques was eleven months
old. Years later, when he is forty years old and horrors of WW II have
concluded, Jacques visits the cemetery in France where
his father is buried. As he stands over the gravestone in this massive
field of the dead, silence engulfs him. Camus writes:
And the
wave of tenderness and pity that at once filled his heart was not the stirring
of the soul that leads the son to the memory of the vanished father, but the
overwhelming passion that a grown man feels for an unjustly murdered child –
something here was not in the natural order and, in truth, there was no order
but only madness and chaos when the son was older than the father. The course
of time was shattering around him while he remained motionless among those
tombs he no longer saw, and the years no longer kept to their places in the
great river that flows to its end.
The tale
continues, as did Camus’s, who always supported the victims of violence despite
harsh criticism from many corners, from the left and from the right. He wrote a
famous essay, “Reflections on the Guillotine,” against capital punishment,
based on his father’s nauseating experience of seeing a man executed by the state.
After hearing this story from his grandmother, he would regularly have ”a recurrent nightmare” that “would haunt him, taking
many forms, but always having the one theme: they were always coming to take
him, Jacques, to be executed.”
Furthermore,
Camus warned us not to become murderers and executioners and to create more
victims, when he wrote a series of essays shortly after WW II for the French
Resistance paper, Combat. – Neither
Victims nor Executioners. He wrote that yes, we must raise our
voices:
It demands
only that we reflect and then decide, clearly, whether humanity’s lot must be
made still more miserable in order to achieve far-off and shadowy ends, whether
we should accept a world bristling with arms where brother kills brother; or
whether, on the contrary, we should avoid bloodshed and misery as much as
possible so that we give a chance for survival to later generations better
equipped than we are.
Which leads me to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and his run for the U.S.
presidency in this most dangerous time. He is a
man not scared into silence despite all the efforts to censor him. . . .

“Mayotte Crisis: Putrid Leftover
of France’s Imperialist and Colonialist Scrooge?”
"Mayotte is French and will remain so forever." (Photo:

by Gilbert Mercier
Mayotte is a French overseas territory located in the
Indian Ocean between Mozambique and Madagascar. It is also near the Comoros
Islands, whose citizens travel to Mayotte as undocumented immigrants. French
politicians pit one population against another, cynically promoting
anti-immigrant sentiment for political gain. European imperialism creates long
lasting impact around the world.
The cycle of empires
It is not as if President Macron and his
administration needed a new crisis to add to the turmoil of his second term in
power. Unlike Mali or Burkina
Faso, where French troops were bluntly asked to leave by military juntas,
Mayotte is in effect a full-fledged French department. The
reminiscence of a vast empire that has almost entirely vanished.
All empires fade in their
respective historical time frames.
Some finished abruptly, like the Ottoman empire in the immediate aftermath of World War I when the
imperial victors (the United Kingdom and France) dismantled it through the Syke-Picot secretive 1916 treaty that determined their
respective colonial spoils of war in the entire Middle-East. Some empires , like the British
and French empires in more recent times, face a slow erosion following the flux
of struggles for self-determination and finally independence of indigenous
populations from colonial powers.
Even in vanishing empires struggle against
colonialism continues

How People Protect Their Communities in the Absence of the State

Note that all western coverage of
Haiti over the past ten months has centered on “gang violence” and not the
protests by the people against an illegitimate Prime Minister, unending U.S.
imperial…
In the past couple of weeks, there has been an
uptick in the western media’s coverage of Haiti. Perhaps linked to the
scheduled United Nations Security Council meeting on Haiti, April 26, 2023,
this coverage has focused specifically on the issue of “gang violence” with the
not-so-implicit suggestion that Haiti had descended into chaos. Note that all
western coverage of Haiti over the past ten months has centered on “gang
violence” and not the protests by the people against an illegitimate Prime
Minister, unending U.S. imperial interventions, the removal of fuel subsidies,
chronic poverty, and growing insecurity. To report thoughtfully and truthfully
on Haiti - to present the country and its people in all their complexity -
would require western journalists to be exorcized of their racist anti-Haitianism. But, alas!
Below, we present a first-person narrative of the
ways that the people in two neighborhoods in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, came
together to protect themselves from the unrelenting violence meted out by armed
young men. The coverage of such actions by communities under siege has been
what we expect about the ways they represent Haiti, with terms that dehumanize
a people protecting itself in the context of a collapse of the State - a
collapse that was by imperialist design. It is no secret that the
military-grade weapons flooding Haiti come from the U.S., pass through
privately owned ports, and are given out to impoverished young men by those -
foreign and local - who seek to keep Haiti under siege. Haitian people, and
especially Haitian women, have borne the brunt of the violence. In the absence
of the state, they have risen up - as they have done in the past - to protect
themselves. Long live Haiti and its people!

The Invasion of Armed Gangs from Bel-Air to Solino: A Night of
Storm and Detonations.
by Jean
Ronald Montas
The armed gangs from Bel-Air
attempted once again to forcefully occupy the community of Solino.
On Thursday, April 27, 2023, very early in the morning, under a light rain, the
inhabitants of these areas woke up to prepare themselves against any form of
attack. However, since they are alone without the help of the authorities of
the State in Haiti, these people who have lived in this area since time
immemorial take justice into their own hands.
One
o'clock in the morning. The inhabitants of Solino
felt tormented by the sound of the alarm. Some were sound asleep while others
formed a surveillance group for the security of the area. During the
detonations, there was a voice shouting loudly: "Leve!
Leve! Yo anvayi n." ("Get up!
Get up! They are invading us"). Suddenly, empty bottles, machetes, and
sticks were in the hands of the residents. Many women were on the streets
accompanied by their equipment. They say with all honesty that they are also on
the verge of being triggered to prevent the armed gangs from Bel-Air from taking control of the area and establishing
their instruments of violence.

“I’ll Be Damned if I Go Back to
Work Under Those Conditions!” Lucy E. Parsons, May 1,
1930
A 1930 speech by Black anarchist
and labor organizer, Lucy Parsons, recalls the radical origins of May Day.
by Editors,
The Black Agenda Review
On May 1,
1930, as global capitalism convulsed and shuddered through an unprecedented
crisis that appeared to presage its inevitable collapse, twenty-five-thousand
workers braved police terror and sedition charges and gathered for a May Day
rally at Chicago’s Union Park. The workers marched to City Hall, where a
“committee of the unemployed,” presented demands for “work or wages” to the
mayor and city council demands. They then strode to the Ashland Boulevard
Auditorium for a mass meeting. The meeting opened with a spirited rendition of
“The International ,” the anthem of the international workers movement, before the audience
heard a number of addresses – including one from a figure the chairperson
described as “one of the old pioneers in the fight for the eight hour day,”
Lucy E. Parsons.
Both the
May Day demonstration’s location in Chicago and the inclusion of Parsons on the
mass meeting’s stage were of historical and political significance. Not only
were the origins of May Day in the events that occurred in Chicago forty-four
years earlier, but Parsons herself was a participant. Labor unions had called
for a general strike on May 1, 1886 to demand an eight-hour day. Across the
United States, nearly half a million workers joined the strike. Chicago was the
epicenter of the movement, with perhaps 100,000 workers and their supporters
and allies taking to the streets. Two days later, police broke up a peaceful
strike at the McCormick Harvesting Company, killing one worker and injuring
many others.
On May 4,
a rally at Haymarket Square was organized to support the McCormick workers and
to protest the police. A bomb was thrown into the crowd and in the ensuing chaos, seven cops and four workers were killed, mainly by
gunfire. While most people believed the police were responsible for the bombing
and the shootings, the incident was used by the state to attack labor radicals.
The Chicago police arrested and raided the homes and offices of suspected
anarchists. Eight anarchists, including Lucy Parsons’ husband, Albert, who had
spoken at the Haymarket rally, went on trial. All were found guilty of
conspiracy and four, including Albert Parsons, were executed on 11 November
1887, hung in the gallows erected behind the Cook County Courthouse. The roots of
May Day – or International Workers’ Day– are in the efforts to commemorate the
1886 general strike, the so-called Haymarket affair, and the death of
Parsons and the other Haymarket martyrs.
Lucy
Parsons did not play second fiddle to her husband. While she did not speak at the rally at the Haymarket,
she was renowned as a speaker, as well as an activist and agitator, in her own
right. A Black woman who did not explicitly engage in Black politics, Parsons
contributed to anarchist journal The
Alarm and was a founder of the labor union, Industrial Workers of the World. In
her later years, Parsons aligned with the Communist Party, organizing and
speaking on behalf of the T rade Union Unity League and the International Labor
Defense . Yet she
remained an anarchist, keeping the memory of Haymarket alive through her biography of Albert Parsons and the trial speeches of the other defendants.
Parsons’
May Day address in Chicago in 1930 radiates with Parsons’ undiminished
revolutionary fervor and energy. Parsons recalls the radical
history of the labor movement, its continual battle with police terror and
capitalist repression, and the ongoing fights for the rights of workers across
the globe. To commemorate May Day, we reprint Parsons’ address below.

Covid 19 : peut-on réduire les effets secondaires liés
à la protéine spike ?
by The Fondation Hippocrate
Primum non nocere
Chers lecteurs,
hospitalisés en réanimation : ce sont des hospitalisations graves ;
- 16,5 % des patients n’étaient pas guéris au bout de 90 jours ;
- Environ 50 % des patients présentaient des IRM anormales ;
Toutefois, au 6 mai 2022, on comptait 1 261 147 effets secondaires rapportés
dans la base de données officielle dont (1) :
- 27 968 décès ;
- 155 633 hospitalisations ;
- 51 996 cas de handicap.
En novembre 2022, 1,4 millions d’effets secondaires étaient répertoriés. (1,2,6)
Cela inclut (1,2) :
- 24 526 décès ;
- 214 847 troubles gastro-intestinaux ;
- 60 786 problèmes vasculaires ;
- 44 615 problèmes sanguins et lymphatiques ;
- 442 717 troubles du système nerveux ;
mondial pour la santé (World Council for Health) a
partie ici.
Affaire à suivre !
