I was reminded that when I was a child, my father
would buy me plastic model sets of WWII Japanese warships or warplanes. He
would extol the utility of the air-cooled engines of the Japanese Zero fighter
plane. I suppose that, in the end, he was not terribly bothered by the
depredations of early 20th century Imperial Japan. Perhaps for him,
the atom bomb was largely a matter of superior U.S. science and technology.
My father wanted me to become a physicist, too, and
I gave it the old college try. I found it too difficult, however, especially
the math. However, I also had a nagging feeling that from the time of the
Manhattan Project onward, that advances in the field were being put to
nefarious uses.
Perhaps I am being overly harsh about 20th
century nuclear physics in particular. We could also point to how the
harnessing of fossil fuel since the industrial age has led to the present
climate catastrophe. We could point to the dangers of gain-of-function
synthetic biology research or artificial intelligence.
Perhaps the problem is, as pointed out by Jacques Ellul, the role of technique in the atrocities of our age. He defines technique as “the totality of methods, rationally arrived at
and having absolute efficiency (for a given stage of development)
in every field of
human activity”1 (Ellul 1964, p. xxv,
italics in original).
Neither “science” nor technique are moral actors.
Individuals are. At this juncture, our eyes are upon one particular historical
figure. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer
hews closely to the biography American
Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin and paints a sympathetic
portrait. One might even say that it is a heroic portrait, for was Prometheus
not a god?
Nolan’s assertion that Oppenheimer “was the most
important person who ever lived” challenges us to think through whether we
agree with him or not. Certainly, he was a polymath. Nolan depicts him
delivering a lecture in Dutch and reading the Bhagavad
Gita in Sanskrit. While he was born into wealth, he
sympathized with causes such as desegregation and that of the anti-fascists in
the Spanish Civil War. Because it was the Communist Party of the U.S.A. that
championed such causes in Berkeley in the 1930s, Oppenheimer became entwined
with party members during that period.
However, once he was chosen to head the Manhattan
Project, Oppenheimer was intent on embodying loyalty to the U.S. government, at
one point donning a U.S. Army uniform. Focused on the success of the project,
he squelched opposition on the part of some of the scientists to the use of the
atom bomb on civilian targets.

“The
Los Alamos Scientist Who Gave the Bomb to the Soviets”
https://scheerpost.com/2023/07/28/a-story-more-provocative-than-oppenheimer/
by Robert Scheer
The world has somehow reached a moment where the use
of nuclear weapons has possibly never been closer and the interest in nuclear
weapons has possibly never been higher. With the release of Christopher Nolan’s
“Oppenheimer,” a compelling dialogue emerges concerning the utilization of
nuclear weapons, as the biopic delves into the life of the father of the atomic
bomb and his profound doubts about the barbaric weapon he unleashed on the
world. An even more captivating narrative about dissent amongst the Los Alamos
scientists who created the bomb is close to release, and its timing couldn’t be
more perfect. A Compassionate Spy, directed by two time Academy Award nominated
Steve James, delves into the intriguing life of an unconventional hero within
the world of nuclear development – a character whose history might be viewed
with skepticism, yet is undeniably instrumental in shaping the post Cold War
nuclear arms race.
Host Robert Scheer sits
down with James and journalist David Lindorff, who
originally broke the story about the character in question, to discuss the film
and the life of Ted Hall. The young, brilliant physicist turned atomic Soviet
spy made a decision at an age where most college-bound people would be making
their first change in major. This fateful decision to share nuclear secrets
with the Soviet Union proved to be a pivotal moment that not only broke the
American nuclear monopoly but also averted the potential for further use of
these devastating weapons. The film paints a conclusive “ends justify the
means” story. Director Steve James said, “[Hall’s] reasons for passing the
secrets, whether you agree with them or not, were grounded and not in naivete or brashness, but in real thoughtfulness.”
Lindorff puts it plainly: “[T]here’s been 78 years of no use
in wartime since the August 9th Nagasaki bombing and I attribute that
completely to mutual assured destruction, because every time it’s come close
and when you read the stories, somebody flinched and said, we can’t do this
because we can’t pull it off without destroying our own country. It’s a suicide
murder pact, so it hasn’t happened.” James goes on to mention the apathy from
crucial figures at the time like Harry Truman who, as referenced in the
Oppenheimer film, was unconcerned with Oppenheimer’s worry about the future of
nuclear weapon use and found himself, as Scheer and
James describe, giddy over their use in Japan.
In the end, Lindorff’s hot
take that both Hall and fellow physicist turned spy, Klaus Fuchs, were
deserving of a Nobel Prize for “for having saved the world from a US with a
monopoly on the bomb after the war,” that ended up being the catalyst for the
investigation into Hall. His article about Hall prompted Hall’s widow, Joan
Hall—a prominent character in the film—to contact him about her late husband
and the rest was history.

“The
Profiteers of Armageddon”

by William D. Hartung
Oppenheimer and the Birth
of the Nuclear-Industrial Complex.
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few months, you’re undoubtedly aware that award-winning director Christopher Nolan has released a new film about Robert Oppenheimer, known as the “father of the atomic bomb” for leading the group of scientists who created that deadly weapon as part of America’s World War II-era Manhattan Project. The film has earned widespread attention, with large numbers of people participating in what’s already become known as “Barbieheimer
” by seeing Greta Gerwig’s hit film Barbie and Nolan’s three-hour-long Oppenheimer on the same day.Nolan’s film is a distinctive pop cultural phenomenon because it deals with the American use of nuclear weapons, a genuine rarity since ABC’s 1983 airing of The Day After about the consequences of nuclear war. (An earlier exception was Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove, his satirical portrayal of the insanity of the Cold War nuclear arms race.)
The film is based on American Prometheus, the Pulitzer Prize-winning 2005 biography of Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin. Nolan made it in part to break through the shield of antiseptic rhetoric, bloodless philosophizing, and public complacency that has allowed such world-ending weaponry to persist so long after Trinity, the first nuclear bomb test, was conducted in the New Mexico desert 78 years ago this month.
Nolan’s impetus was rooted in his early exposure to the nuclear disarmament movement in Europe. As he said recently:
“It’s something that’s been on my radar for a number of years. I was a teenager in the ‘80s, the early ‘80s in England. It was the peak of CND, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, the Greenham Common [protest]; the threat of nuclear war was when I was 12, 13, 14 — it was the biggest fear we all had. I think I first encountered Oppenheimer in… Sting’s song about the Russians that came out then and talks about Oppenheimer’s ‘deadly toys.’”
A feature film on the genesis of nuclear weapons may not strike you as an obvious candidate for box-office blockbuster status. As Nolan’s teenage son said when his father told him he was thinking about making such a film, “Well, nobody really worries about nuclear weapons anymore. Are people going to be interested in that?” Nolan responded that, given what’s at stake, he worries about complacency and even denial when it comes to the global risks posed by the nuclear arsenals on this planet. “You’re normalizing killing tens of thousands of people. You’re creating moral equivalences, false equivalences with other types of conflict… [and so] accepting, normalizing… the danger.”

Subject: The Means, The
Ends & Class Struggle in Century 21.
Dear
Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,
In his 1959
novel, The Naked Lunch,
William Burroughs proposed that we look at the end of our fork (or for that
matter, at the end of our chopsticks or our finger tips) to see what we are
about to eat. We live in the Age of Uncertainty, a period in history when the
judgment of “cause-and-effect” has lost some credence; statistical
“probability” has replaced it to become a prominent cultural currency in daily
life. We are lied to easily and baffled by counter-intuitive conclusions,
which we are told to accept as “consensus” by irresponsible authorities.
This
“mind-fuck” has penetrated the most schooled members of society, thus evincing
the fatal flaw of capitalist education, i.e. the competitive, individualistic mode of acquiring information and ideas as commodities and as cultural currency for exams and
grades in a combat against the competition. We have internalized one axiom:
“Ends justify the Means”; and have ignored the good counsel of another, “Means
mitigate the Ends,” to our deep chagrin.
Caught in
this web of alienation, we find ourselves mostly inert, unable without much difficulty to extricate ourselves
from the circumstances we have inherited. We have become greatly weakened by
our “success,” and the rewards for most are relatively paltry.
The following 25+ items represent discussions
taken from the critical Anglophone social media which serve to expose contradictions and
paradoxes contained in official US policies that are religiously intoned ad nauseam by the corporate media outlets. The ideas presented
in the various essays and articles below deserve to be discussed widely and brought
to the attention of people in all walks of life, who are learning to think globally
and to act locally.
Sincerely,
Francis

The NeoCons’ Proxy War “Against Ukraine”:
Nuclear War is On the Table. The Privatization of Ukraine
by Prof Michel Chossudovsky
Introduction
In this
article, I will be focussing on the NeoCon agenda, largely inspired by The Project for the New
American Century. (PNAC).
The Neocons exert control over foreign policy. They are
involved in bribing and manipulating politicians and decision-makers. They have
played a key role in defining nuclear doctrine on behalf of powerful financial
interests.
The PNAC has
called for establishing “Superiority in Nuclear Weapons” (applied to
Russia) coupled with a profit driven expansion of the military industrial
complex.
The NeoCon agenda, as formulated by the PNAC (2000) follows in
the footsteps of The Cold War “Truman Doctrine” In the words of George
Kennan:
“The day is
not far off when we are going to have to deal in straight power concepts. The
less we are then hampered by idealistic slogans, the better”
The NeoCons are not intent upon “Winning the War”.
Their agenda
is to “Destroy Countries”.
It is a
profit-driven agenda: “Destruction” leads to “Reconstruction”. What is at
stake is the engineered economic and social destruction of sovereign nation
states. The creditors are there to “pick up the pieces” and “appropriate real
wealth”.
The second
part of this article will focus on the NeoCons’
agenda to “privatize countries” on behalf of the financial
establishment.
The
privatization of Ukraine as an
impoverished derelict Nation State has already commenced via the creation of
the Ukraine Reconstruction Bank (URB) by BlackRock
and JPMorgan.
The Danger of
Nuclear War
The use of
nuclear weapons is on the drawing board of the Pentagon. It has the
support of the U.S State Department.
Meanwhile
legislation is being put forward in the U.S. Congress to initiate World War
III.
“Senators
Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) introduced on
June 22nd a Resolution which
if passed and signed by President Biden, … would commit the U.S. as the head of
NATO to launch, on behalf of NATO, war directly against Russia (See Eric Zuesse, Duran, June 20, 2023)

This is the second segment of the interview with Alexander Mercouris (@AlexMercouris ) from @TheDuran. We talk about how and why NATO elites decided to kill the Post-Cold War peace in Europe that had set in after 1989. The poisonous idea that the US had "won" the Cold War completely distorted all decision-making, leading to some of the worst and most provocative geostrategic blunders in history. Peace was killed by those who thought they could rain with impunity and Ukraine is now paying the price of the zero-sum thinking.

“Mutiny Against
the World Order”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmZoJ1vKEKk
by Peter Mertens
During the
closing ceremony of the People’s Summit held at the European Parliament in
Brussels on July 18, Peter Mertens, secretary general
of the Workers’ Party of Belgium, spoke about the movement of history and the
breaking points that have led to a mutiny against the current world
order.
History
proceeds in waves, and I think it is important to understand the movement of
history. The unipolar era under the dominance of the
United States is coming to an end.
The future
belongs to multilateral relations between countries and peoples, with mutual
respect and reciprocity, without outside political or military interference.
Within this framework, enormous numbers of people have committed themselves in
recent days to building lasting relations between Latin America, the Caribbean
and Europe.
We all know:
as the movement of history continues, some cling frenetically to the
certainties of the old world going down. For some European forces, respect and
reciprocity are still difficult concepts.
A senior
European Union diplomat told Euronews recently, it seems that the governments of Latin America and
the Caribbean “want to be seen as equal partners.”
It “seems”
that they want to be seen “as equal partners.”
Neocolonial
Attitude
So in that
man’s mind, they are not equal partners. It is this neocolonial attitude that
still haunts the minds of old forces.
A number of
diplomats, government leaders and forces in Europe have not seen, or have not
wanted to see, the changes in the world order since the turn of the century.
They failed
to see how the illegal war against Iraq in 2003 definitively undermined the
credibility of the United States as the so-called leader of the world. That was
an initial breaking point.

COVID propaganda timeline,
March-April 2020
Archives from the "Swiss Policy
Research"
by Robert W Malone MD, MS
From an
international point of view, what were the key COVIDcrisis
events during the critical period of March - April 2020 during which the global
“official narrative” was developed, baked and globally distributed by corporate
media?
In real time,
an independent organization called “Swiss Policy Research” (previously “Swiss
Propaganda Research”) captured a cascade of events during this timeframe which
contradict and document the propaganda which was globally deployed in a
harmonized manner during this timeframe, and which drove both public fear and
political responses for the following three years. My sense is that this
timeline summary is damming. US and
global corporate media (most particularly fearporn
specialist broadcaster CNN which is closely tied to the US Council
on Foreign Relations), clearly acted in close cooperation with
the five eyes
intelligence community and a variety of state, non-state,
transnational and NGO actors to promote a false narrative.
In reviewing this timeline, I am
stunned by how much of the SPR summary regarding the COVIDcrisis
and the gross mismanagement of this global “public health response” (which we
now recognize as accurate) was correctly understood and interpreted during this
period of March-April 2020.
This meme posted March 24, 2020
captures the essence of the globally coordinated intentional, planned campaign
of fear, censorship, propaganda, cyberstalking and
defamation which was deployed on all of us by our governments, the five eyes
intelligence alliance, global corporate media, the Trusted

“Everything
you need to know about Covid’s “Eris” Variant”
https://off-guardian.org/2023/08/07/everything-you-need-to-know-about-covids-eris-variant/
by Kit Knightly
The big news
the last couple of days is that “Covid” is
back…again. This time it’s the “Eris” variant, named after the Greek goddess of
strife and discord, it supposedly is causing a spike in cases for the first
time in…who cares how long.
The bulk of
reporting on it is detailing how it’s supposedly
related to Omicron or Arcturus or
all the other names they flash in the headlines.
That, or the symptoms.
They are a runny nose and a sore throat and…well, you know. The only
noteworthy thing to mention here is that the “loss of taste or smell” – so long
sold as Covid’s calling card – is no longer
considered a common symptom.
Yahoo even
reported – without a shred of irony – that the alleged
up-tick in “cases” was due to people spending
more time indoors:
Bad weather encouraging people to spend more time indoors and waning
immunity have been blamed for the rise
…a peculiar position to take, considering lockdown is meant to have
helped, last time.
Anyway, without further ado, here is everything you really need to know about the Eris
variant:
It’s bullshit.
Just like all the others.
Nothing else really needs to be said, does it?
Sure the media are setting up softballs for us to hammer over the fence,
talking about the “symptoms” and “infection” rate again as if the past three
years haven’t rendered all those words meaningless. But we are – or should be –
well past that point of arguing against the mainstream.
We know everything we need to know about the symptoms – they are
“generally mild” and “flu-like”, because Covid is
nothing but re-branded endemic respiratory diseases. We know the death
statistics are made up and the tests don’t work except to manufacture cases.
We know
all this, even this repeating of it is unnecessary, to be
honest.
The only aspect of Eris worth discussing is why it’s in the papers, and
even that answer is briefer than usual.
Eris exists because the “Cerberus” heatwave is
over, and July was unseasonably cold and damp in the UK. Because Autumn will be
setting in soon enough and there are no more major sporting events for Just
Stop Oil to disrupt for a while.
In short, Eris is what happens when people refuse to panic about climate
change.
In fact, we can probably expect headlines linking Eris to the climate in
the next few days.
The trouble with that is, just like climate change, people can only be
scared by words for so long. The media repeated “global warming” so much the
words lost their meaning, and filled the papers with so many apocalyptic
predictions that never came to pass that people got numbed to it, they filter
it out now even if they don’t realise they do.
The same will happen with covid; the more they
bring it back for a jump scare, the less people will jump.
That’s probably why they’re laying the groundwork “the next
pandemic” of “disease
X”.

Video: Pfizer's "Secret" Report on the Covid
Vaccine. Beyond Manslaughter.
by Prof Michel Chossudovsky
The Evidence
is Overwhelming. The Vaccine Should Be Immediately Withdrawn Worldwide.
The report is
a bombshell. The vaccine was launched in mid-December 2020. By the end of
February 2021, “Pfizer had already received more than 1,200 reports of
deaths allegedly caused by the vaccine and tens of thousands of reported
adverse events, including 23 cases of spontaneous abortions out of 270
pregnancies and more than 2,000 reports of cardiac disorders.”
This Confidential
Pfizer Report provides
data on deaths and adverse events recorded by Pfizer from the outset of the
vaccine project in December 2020 to the end of February 2021, namely a very short
period (at most two and a half months).
The data from
mid-December 2020 to the end of February 2021 unequivocally confirms
“Manslaughter”. Based on the evidence, Pfizer had the responsibility to
immediately cancel and withdraw the “vaccine”.
Pfizer’s Worldwide marketing of the Covid-19 Vaccine beyond February
28th, 2021, is no longer an “Act of Manslaughter”.
Murder as
opposed to Manslaughter implies “Criminal Intent”.
Pfizer’s Covid 19 Vaccine constitutes a Criminal Act. From a
legal standpoint it is an “Act of Murder” applied Worldwide to a target
population of 8 billion people.
What is
contained in Pfizer’s “confidential” report is
detailed evidence on the impacts of the “vaccine” on mortality and
morbidity. This data which emanates from the “Horse’s Mouth” can now be used

“The
Unwitting Coup: Was the Response to COVID Effectively a Coup by the Western
Intelligence Community?”
by Michael P Senger
From an early
date, commentators have noted that the response to COVID had all the look and
feel of a coup attempt. The
masks, the slogans, the symbols, the lies, the sudden inversion of
long-cherished norms and values, the mindless acceptance of information from
nefarious sources like the World Health Organization and China. Something was
seriously off, and it all seemed so obvious.
Thus, one overarching question always
lingered over the response to COVID. How were officials able to implement such
destructive, totalitarian policies across the western world without
intelligence authorities stepping in to stop them?
A detached review of the evidence
leads to a chilling answer—though in hindsight, perhaps the only one that was ever
really possible. Quite simply, the reason the western intelligence community
never stepped in to stop this illiberalism is that
virtually all the most illiberal aspects of the response to COVID lead directly
back to the western intelligence community itself.

Retired

Campbell recently reported on a study from Switzerland revealing that 1 in 35
recipients of the Moderna COVID vaccine experienced
symptoms of myocarditis. These results suggest that
the “safe and effective” vaccine may not have been as safe as we were led to
believe.

‘In Their

Officials and
scientists who wrote the key paper promoting a natural origin for Covid-19 show
doubts.
Public

the manufacture of a major media deception, respectively, in the Covid-19
crisis. Both stories rely upon newly released documents from the House Select
Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which is
investigating communications between the authors of the influential Nature article from March, 2020, The proximal origin of SARS-CoV-2, and
health officials like Drs. Anthony Fauci, Francis
Collins, and Jeremy Farrar.
You can read
the backstory involving these documents in the two
pieces linked above. The key characters are Proximal Origin co-authors Dr. Kristian

simple list of illustrations showing key exchanges. You can draw your own

people had put out there, and ended with the beginning of the hypothesis that
the CIA may in fact be that controlling element. Part II picks up the thesis

INTERVIEW: France’s Colonial Past and Blowback, Glen Ford, 2015
https://www.blackagendareport.com/interview-frances-colonial-past-and-blowback-glen-ford-2015
by Editors, The Black Agenda Review
“Decolonization,”
Frantz Fanon once wrote, “is always a violent phenomenon.” It is a “program of
complete disorder.” And its violence and disorder, Fanon might add, takes place
simultaneously in both the metropoles and the
colonies, in the centers of colonial authority and the insurgent territories at
the margins of the world.
Let’s take
France as an example. While Paris is burning, France’s neocolonial West African
territories are about to explode. Protests erupted in Paris after the police
murder of 17 year old Nahul Merzouk
– but also against decades of institutionalized and entrenched French racism
against Black and Arab youth. The protests reverberated across all of France,
but also in West Africa, where years of racist French economic, financial, and
military meddling and control have shown independence to be nothing more than
an exploitative and extractive neocolonial sham. Indeed, on July 26, 2023 in Niger,
a military coup d’etat removed the country’s
neocolonial government and President Mohamed Bazoum.
Young coup supporters protested France’s presence in the country by burning
French flags, destroying parts of the French embassy in Niger, and calling for
an end to French colonialism in their country.
Niger is only
the latest flashpoint in the revolt against France. From 2020 there have been
four coups in the Sahel region of the African continent: Mali (2020 and 2021);
Guinea (2021), and Burkina Faso (2022). The leaders of these coups have, at
least in part, focused on removing France’s oversized - colonial - presence in
their countries. Burkina Faso and Mali have succeeded in kicking out French
troops. Niger and Guinea want to do the same, and quickly.
The late Glen
Ford would probably refer to what is happening in Niger, what happened in Mali,
Burkina Faso, Guinea, and across the Sahel, as the “blowback” from France’s
colonial past. “France,” he reminds us, “has a whole lot of history to answer
for.” This is why it must be terrified of the people that it has “radicalized”
because of its centuries and looting and killing and racist discrimination.
In 2015, Ford
was interviewed by Jared Ball for The Real News Network on the attacks in Paris by
“Islamic extremists.” In the interview, titled “France’s Colonial Past and
Blowback,” Ford argued that France’s
colonial legacy was being ignored as a source of the attacks. Like no
other commentator could, Ford summarized the cause of the imperial blowback in
a few short, sharp, and biting sentences: “So now Paris is burning and people
are wondering why. Well, the reason Paris is burning is because Paris has done
more than almost any other country besides the United States to set the whole
world on fire.”

French
Invasion of Niger could Turn Into an "All-out
Franco-African War
by Drago Bosnic
Ever since the Nigerien military under the command of General Abdourahamane Tchiani took power
on July 26, there has been an exponential
increase in tensions between Niamey and its former colonial masters in Paris.
This has gone to the point where France is now seriously considering invading
the West African country. The exploitation of “former” French colonies has
continued unabated for over half a century even after they were granted a
semblance of independence and Paris has been the main beneficiary of this
one-sided relationship. Combined with France’s inability to deal with various
terrorist insurgencies in the region, this unadulterated neocolonial theft has
been the primary reason behind a series of popular uprisings in the Sahel.
Paris is now faced with a strategic
dilemma. If it lets Niger continue its path toward actual independence, France will be unable to continue
exploiting the country’s natural resources. Namely,
several of its former colonies have served as a source of massive wealth
extraction and given the recent troubles Paris is facing, these resources might
be more important than ever. On the other hand, recent geopolitical changes in
the area have left France largely impuissant. After the defeat of its nearly
decade-long intervention in Chad last year, Paris has been left with bases in
Ivory Coast, Senegal and Gabon. Neither of these can be used effectively as a
staging ground for an invasion due to the limited number of troops stationed
there.

How a Notorious Georgia Army School Became America's Training Ground for
Global Torture
by Alan Macleod
Fort Benning, the infamous Georgia U.S. military base, is once
again in the news, changing its name to Fort Moore, thereby ditching its
Confederate name. Yet none of the media covering the rebranding – not The New York Times, the Associated
Press, CNN, ABC, CBS News, USA Today nor The Hill – mentioned
the most controversial aspect of the institution.
Across Latin America, the very name of Fort Benning
is enough to strike terror into the hearts of millions, bringing back visions
of massacres and genocides. This is because the fort is home to the School of
the Americas (now known as Western Hemisphere Institute for Security
Cooperation or WHINSEC), a shadowy academy where around 84,000 Latin American
soldiers and police officers have been taught on the U.S. dime on how to kill,
torture and how to stamp out political activists.

War in Africa
and War in the Americas: Accelerating the End of White World Supremacy
https://www.blackagendareport.com/war-africa-and-war-americas-accelerating-end-white-world-supremacy
by Ajamu Baraka
“The
structural crisis of capitalism in its neoliberal form has created a legitimacy
crisis for the capitalist rulers, making the use of force a permanent strategy
for maintaining their dominance.”
The U.S.
recently deployed troops to Peru to shore-up the coup in that country, followed
by the deployment of troops to Ecuador and the bizarre AFRICOM plan to insert
Kenya and Rwanda forces all the way from Africa to Haiti to support the
illegitimate Ariel Henry puppet government in that nation.
This is
madness, but desperate madness!
Experiencing
their worst nightmare, the French are in the process of being expelled from
their African empire. They have desperately drawn the line in Niger, where they
had been forced to redeploy their troops after being expelled from Mali. The
military has now taken power in Niger and the people have filled the streets of
its capital Niamey carrying Russian flags and demanding that the French and the
U.S. be expelled from their country with their drone bases, including the
mother of all drone bases in Agadez that cost over
100 million dollars to build..
We know,
however, that they will not leave peacefully. The people of Iraq demanded that
the U.S. leave and their forces are still there, just as they remain in Syria
stealing oil and wheat. The people of Haiti demand no intervention but the
arrogance and psychopathology of white supremacy compels its leaders to ignore
the peoples of the world and rely on what they understand best – violence and
domination.
There is no
mystery as to why Western European powers are behaving this way as they face
the prospect of a world in which they can no longer impose their will and
extract the value produced by the world’s peoples and lands for their greater
glory. They have concluded that they need to fall back on the very instrument
that established Western hegemony in the first place - war in its most extreme
expressions.
The violence
at the center of the relationship between the European colonizer and the
colonized “other” has not changed since Europeans spilled out of Europe into
the Americas in 1492, only its forms have taken new shapes.

The U.S. Plot
to Finalize the Theft of Venezuela’s Oil
https://www.blackagendareport.com/us-plot-finalize-theft-venezuelas-oil
by Margaret Kimberley,
The U.S. has
used its influence to steal another country’s oil revenues. Venezuela is in the
crosshairs because it dares to be socialist in the hemisphere the U.S. claims
as it’s “backyard.”
It was always
about the oil. United States assertions that the government
of elected president Nicolas Maduro was illegitimate
were always a ruse needed to get U.S. corporate hands on Venezuela’s oil
company, CITGO.
All the years of demonization, choosing an “interim president” who
addressed congress and met with U.S. allies around the world, and collusion
with the corporate media to spread war propaganda, were all part of a
bipartisan heist that would make a gangster blush.
Actually, the
plot is the work of gangsters. Barack Obama began the process with the first
tranche of sanctions against Venezuela. He then handed over the project to
Donald Trump, a man allegedly anathema to the Democratic Party, who openly
bragged about wanting to take Venezuela’s oil. He got his wish but his
successor Joe Biden gets the hoodlum ring leader bragging rights.
This
columnist was invited to be a jurist for the International
People’s Tribunal on U.S Sanctionshearing in
Caracas, Venezuela. During a week long fact finding
mission and a day of testimony we witnessed the depths of U.S. depravity
directed at a nation that refuses to bend to Washington’s will.
Unilateral economic coercive measures, commonly referred to as sanctions, target more
than 40 countries and impact 28% of all people in the world. They are used as a
tool of punishment and as a means of theft on behalf of corporations. The goal
is to steal and to exert compliance from nations who won’t do what the U.S.
wants them to do.
Before the full force of sanctions
were directed at Venezuela its oil wealth was used to benefit not only its
people but those abroad as well. Petrocaribe funds
made oil available at generous discounts to Venezuela’s neighbors in the
Caribbean basin region. Such generosity is not in the interests of the U.S. hegemon, whose goal is to dominate. An oil rich nation that
shares its wealth is a danger to the imperialist project.
Venezuela also shared its oil with
low income Americans. For ten years Venezuela provided free oil to 200,000
homes every winter through the non-profit Citizens Energy .
Socialist nations, especially in this hemisphere, present
the threat of a good example. Venezuela helping poor people heat their homes is
proof that their own government could have done the same thing. One nation’s
generosity might create demands for change here in the U.S. and that was
something to be stamped out.
By working with the Venezuelan opposition to claim funds, CITGO is due to
be auctioned beginning on October 22, 2023. Canadian mining
company Crystallex has its hand in the till to recoup losses after Venezuela
nationalized its operations and U.S. oil company
Conoco-Phillips also stands to gain from the robbery.
But grabbing
loot is not the criminals’ only goal. Sanctions are meant to undermine
governments and create unrest. The Chavez and Maduro
presidencies used oil wealth to provide free health care. The Children’s
Cardiology Hospital of Latin America is located in Caracas, and as the name
suggests it cared for children throughout the region.
Now that
hospital performs surgery without necessary equipment, such as sternal saws, because the U.S. punishes any nation that
dares to do business with the targeted country. U.S. sanctions then become
international, and force the rest of the world to go along with its
aggressions. Countries risk their own security if they dare to sell medical
equipments to a country that has fallen out of U.S. favor.
The CITGO
theft is not the only one that will be used against Venezuela. Five republican
senators are proposing the Venezuela
Democracy Act , which calls
for more sanctions and a “transitional government.” In other words, regime
change is still on the agenda.

Australian MPs Blast Blinken Over
Assange
https://consortiumnews.com/2023/08/01/australian-mps-blast-blinken-over-assange/
by Joe Lauria
Three
Australian members of Parliament have dismissed U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s strong statement in support of prosecuting
imprisoned WikiLeaks
publisher Julian Assange as “nonsense.”
Independent
MP Andrew Wilkie told The Guardian‘s Australian edition
that Assange was “not the villain … and if the US
wasn’t obsessed with revenge it would drop the extradition charge as soon as
possible.”
“Antony Blinken’s allegation that Julian Assange
risked very serious harm to US national security is patent nonsense,” Wilkie said.
“Mr Blinken would be well aware of
the inquiries in both the US and Australia which found that the relevant WikiLeaks disclosures
did not result in harm to anyone,” said Wilkie. “The
only deadly behaviour was by US forces … exposed by WikiLeaks, like the Apache crew who gunned down Iraqi
civilians and Reuters journalists” in the infamous Collateral Murder
video.
Speaking at a press conference with
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in Brisbane on Saturday, Blinken said he understood Australians’ concerns about
their imprisoned citizen, but took a hard line against any move to end his
persecution. Blinken said:
“I really do understand and can
certainly confirm what Penny said about the fact that this matter was raised
with us, as it has been in the past. And I understand the sensitivities. I
understand the concerns and views of Australians. I think it’s very
important that our friends here understand our concerns about this matter.
What our Department of Justice has
already said repeatedly, publicly, is this: Mr Assange was charged with very serious criminal conduct in
the United States in connection with his alleged role in one of the largest
compromises of classified information in the history of our country.
The actions that he is alleged to
have committed risked very serious harm to our national security, to the
benefit of our adversaries, and put named human sources at grave risk of physical
harm, grave risk of detention.
So I say that only because just as we
understand sensitivities here, it’s important that our friends understand
sensitivities in the United States.”

by Joe Lauria
The U.S.
secretary of state confirmed Australia has lobbied the U.S. to end the WikiLeaks
publisher’s prosecution, but said unequivocally that it would continue, reports
Joe Lauria.
U.S.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken has publicly
rebuffed efforts by the Australian government to free WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange.
Speaking at a
press conference with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in Brisbane on
Saturday, Blinken said he understood Australians’
concerns about their imprisoned citizen, but took a hard line against any move
to end his persecution. Blinken said:
“I really do
understand and can certainly confirm what Penny said about the fact that this
matter was raised with us, as it has been in the past. And I understand
the sensitivities. I understand the concerns and views of Australians. I
think it’s very important that our friends here understand our concerns about

security, to the benefit of our adversaries, and put named human sources at
grave risk of physical harm, grave risk of detention.
So I say that
only because just as we understand sensitivities here, it’s important that our
friends understand sensitivities in the United States.”
As was shown
conclusively by defense
witnesses in his September 2020
extradition hearing in London, Assange worked assiduously
to redact names of U.S. informants before WikiLeaks publications on Iraq
and Afghanistan in 2010. U.S. Gen. Robert Carr testified at the court
martial of WikiLeaks‘ source,
Chelsea Manning, that no one was harmed by the material’s publication.
Instead, Assange faces 175 years in a U.S. dungeon on charges of
violating the Espionage Act, not for stealing U.S. classified material, but for
the First Amendment-protected publication
of it.

AUSMIN and Assange: The Great Vassal Smackdown
https://www.globalresearch.ca/ausmin-assange-great-vassal-smackdown/5827303
by Dr. Binoy Kampmark
It was there
for all to see. Embarrassing, cloying, and bound make you cough up the remnants
of your summit lunch, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken
and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin III stopped by one of the vassal states to
make sure that the meal and military service was orderly, the troops well
behaved, and the weapons working as they should. On the occasion of 2023 AUSMIN
meetings, the questions asked were mild
and generally unprovocative; answers were naturally
tailored.
Seeing that Australia is now rapidly moving into the US orbit of client
status – its minerals will be designated a US domestic resource in due course –
and given that its land, sea and air are to be more available than ever for the
US armed forces, nuclear and conventional, nothing will interrupt this
inexorable extinguishing of sovereignty.
One vestige of Australian sovereignty might have evinced itself, notably
in how Canberra might push for the release, or at the very least better terms, for the Australian national and founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange. The
publisher faces 18 counts, all but one of them pertaining to the Espionage Act
of 1917, an archaic, wartime act with a dark record of punishing free speech
and contrarians. The Albanese government, eschewing “the hailer” approach
in favour of “quiet diplomacy” and not
offending Washington, has conspicuously failed to make any
impression.
In April, an open
letter to the US Attorney General, Merrick Garland,
featuring 48 Australian MPs and Senators, including 13 from the governing Labor
Party, argued that the Assange prosecution “would set
a dangerous precedent for all global citizens, journalists, publishers, media
organizations and the freedom of the press. It would also be needlessly
damaging for the US as a world leader on freedom of expression and the rule of
law.”

Ten Years After The US Military Verdict Against Chelsea Manning
https://scheerpost.com/2023/08/01/ten-years-after-the-us-military-verdict-against-chelsea-manning/
by Kevin Gosztola
It was ten
years ago that a United States military judge found Pfc. Chelsea Manning guilty
of violating the Espionage Act, along with several other related offenses. She
was fortunately acquitted of the most alarming charge levied against her:
“aiding the enemy.”
Manning provided over 700,000 documents to WikiLeaks,
many of which contained evidence of torture, war crimes, human rights abuses,
and corruption within the State Department.
Panicked U.S. military and national security officials scrambled to respond to
the fallout from what was revealed, and the U.S. government immediately
tightened restrictions on how soldiers, contractors, and lower-level agency
personnel could access information databases. Officials even adopted an “insider
threat” program that was a throwback to the McCarthyism of the 1940s and 1950s.
The prestige
media barely showed an interest in proceedings prior to Manning’s trial.
Consistent media coverage was dependent on the work of journalists, like
Associated Press reporter David Dishneau, Manning
Support Network advocate Nathan Fuller, Courthouse News reporter Adam Klasfeld, independent reporter Alexa
O’Brien, courtroom sketch artist Clark Stoeckley, and
me.
Freedom of
the Press Foundation raised funds and hired court stenographers, who produced
transcripts of the trial for the press and public.
On July 30,
2013, at Fort Meade in Maryland, Army Colonel Denise Lind presented the
verdict. Lind found Manning guilty of five Espionage Act offenses. She was also
found guilty of multiple stealing offenses as well as “exceeding authorized
access” on a government computer under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA).

Leaked files suggest hidden British
hand in latest Kerch Bridge strike
https://thegrayzone.com/2023/07/19/leaked-files-british-kerch-bridge-strike/
by Kit Klarenberg
The Grayzone has exposed British intelligence freelancers for
collaborating with Ukraine’s Security Service to destroy Kerch Bridge. Leaked
documents suggest they played a role in the latest attack on the bridge, and
may be helping Kiev hunt down accused collaborators.
On July 16, a
predawn assault on the Kerch Bridge connecting Crimea with mainland Russia left
two civilians dead and a 14-year-old injured. As advisors to Ukrainian
President Volodymyr Zelensky
hinted at Ukraine’s
culpability, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed his finger at Kiev and vowed revenge.
The attack was the second attempt at
destroying the Kerch Bridge in less than a year. On October 8th 2022, a suicide
attacker remotely detonated a truck bomb
on the bridge, killing three and inflicting such severe damage the vehicular
crossing remained closed until February this year, while railroad traffic
resumed in May.
As The Grayzone
revealed two days after the bombing, a cabal of British mlitary-intelligence freelancers had drafted detailed plans
for destroying Kerch Bridge months earlier. The blueprints were drawn up at the
behest of Chris Donnelly, a senior intelligence operative and former high
ranking NATO advisor. His transnational nexus manages London’s contribution to
the proxy war at arm’s length, in conjunction with the Security Service of
Ukraine’s (SBU) Odessa branch.

“The Boom Bust Bailout Process that
Places Nations in Debt”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/boom-bust-bailout-process-that-placed-nations-debt/5827600
by Mark Keenan
Introduction
There are systemic aspects about the
banking, monetary, and economic system that are not taught in the schools and
universities of the world and are rarely discussed on corporate owned news and
media networks. Knowledge of these aspects is absolutely essential for everyone
in the world that wishes to understand how the economic world ‘actually’ works
and how worldwide society has been brought to the brink of financial ruin while
the vast resources of human productivity and of nature are continually
exploited by a small group of people that control these systems.
Why Do
Governments Prioritise GDP Growth?
Without GDP
growth the (privately owned) debt-money banking system fails. The real
reason governments prioritise GDP growth is so that
sufficient tax monies can be collected so that interest can be paid to the
international banking system. Governments often maintain that the ultimate
purpose of economic GDP growth is in fact to improve wellbeing. This is not in
fact so. John Jopling (RIP) of the Foundation
for the Economics of Sustainability wrote in 2003:
“The real
reason why governments regard growth as desirable is that, with a debt-based
money system, if the economy does not grow, it collapses. This is something all
politicians are naturally and rightly extremely keen to avoid. Growth is an
absolute imperative imposed on governments by the nature of the current money
system. Thus, it is in the nature of the money system, not the choice of
government, that growth must be maintained.” – (See Endnote [i])
Governments
are buried under the lie – they do not admit or have the awareness that the
need for GDP growth is imposed by the debt-money system controlled by private
banks nor that the creation of debt money by private banks is unnecessary and
is against the public interest (because governments could create and issue
debt-free money themselves as has been done in the past). It is rarely
acknowledged by politicians that the main reason for the constant drive for GDP
growth is to pay interest to the banking system. The Foundation for the
Economics of Sustainability has stated:
“The real
reason why governments regard growth as desirable is that, with a debt-based
money system, if the economy does not grow, it collapses… Thus, it is in
the nature of the money system, not the choice of government, that growth must
be maintained… The way in which the global economic systems is designed
automatically ensures that the economy operates in such a way that: a.
inequality is bound to increase, b. the economy is unstable and c. the economy
is blind to the limits of natural resources and the need for humanity to live
in symbiosis with the rest of the natural world.” – The Foundation for the
Economics of Sustainability (See Endnote [ii])
GDP growth is
prioritised by governments and debt-money is the
basis of the banking system – yet both are significant drivers of environmental
degradation, resource depletion, and social inequity. A government prioritises growth – whether it is ‘good’ growth or ‘bad’
growth is not the focus (good growth would not impact on environmental and
social resilience.) The pseudo-science of neo-classical economics (that all
governments adhere to) proposes that increased GDP can reduce pollution in what
is called the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC). This EKC argument is false.
The EKC posits that pollution increases with economic growth in the early
stages of development and that beyond a certain level of development the trend
reverses, and economic growth improves environmental conditions by creating the
resources to do so. However, the EKC has never been validated.

Cornel West
and the Campaign to End Political Apartheid
https://www.informationclearinghouse.info/57687.htm
by Chris Hedges
The
Republican and Democratic parties have no intention of allowing independents
and third parties into their exclusive club. A series of arcane laws and rules governing
elections make it extremely difficult for outsiders to get on the ballot,
receive exposure, raise money, comply with regulations that are designed to
advance the interests of Republicans and Democrats or participate in public
debates. Third parties and independents are effectively disenfranchised,
although 44 percent of the voting public identify as
independent. This discrimination is euphemistically labeled “bipartisanship,”
but the correct term, as Theresa Amato writes, is “political apartheid.”
“One of the
best-kept secrets in American politics is that the two-party system has long
been brain dead — kept alive by support systems like state electoral laws that
protect the established parties from rivals and by Federal subsidies and
so-called Campaign reform,” the political scientist Theodore Lowi noted. “The
two-party system would collapse in an instant if the tubes were pulled and the
IV’s were cut.”
Amato was the
national presidential campaign manager and in-house counsel for Ralph Nader in
the 2000 and 2004 elections. Her book “Grand
Illusion: The Myth of Voter Choice in a Two-Party
Tyranny” is a sobering account of our political apartheid,
based on her experience in the Nader campaigns. It chronicles in minute detail
the nefarious mechanisms, especially the Byzantine rules that vary from state
to state, to even get on the ballot.
Third parties not already
ballot-qualified and independents must collect valid signatures on a petition
to run for president. Some states require a fee or a few hundred signatures.
Others require tens of thousands of signatures. The Republicans and Democrats
set the requirements in state legislatures, and then, flush with corporate cash
and teams of lawyers, haul independents and third party candidates into court
to challenge the validity of their petition signatures. These lawsuits are used
to invalidate signatures to force candidates off the ballot, deprive voters the
opportunity of supporting other candidates, as well as drain the campaign
budgets of small competitors. Republican and Democratic party state-level officials, either elected or appointed,
administer the federal elections to serve their party’s
advancement.
The requirements to get on the ballot
resemble the rules erected during Jim and Jane Crow to prevent
African-Americans from being able to register to vote. Ohio, for example, demands that
petition signatures be written from only one county on each petition, forcing
circulators to carry around stacks of county petitions. The state of Washington requires
a 10 day advance notice published in a newspaper before holding a nominating
convention. West Virginia mandates that
circulators first get credentials from the county clerk, in every county, which
must be displayed while collecting signatures. Nevada requires that
each petition be notarized.
“To
complicate matters further, in a Kafkaesque way, many of the election officials
are afraid to say exactly what provisions of their state law mean; they do not
want to be implicated in a legal battle — so they often claim that they do not
know, that they cannot say, and that you cannot rely on anything they say,”
Amato writes. “Alternatively, you may get different opinions, based on whom you
ask, or encounter election officials who just don’t know the law they are
enforcing, even in some of the biggest states, as we found in 2004 in
California.”
Commissions
and boards set up to monitor elections, such as The Federal
Election Commission, are also composed almost
exclusively of Republicans and Democrats.
Amato
describes mastering the Federal Election Commission campaign finance laws as
equivalent to learning “a foreign language in a few days” and then trying to
teach it to campaign staff and volunteers who have little or no experience with
federal regulations.
The national,
state, and local branches of the Republican and Democratic parties contract
vendors and political consultants to work on each campaign cycle. This is
usually not true for third parties and independents, who
lack the resources and funds to build a permanent campaign infrastructure. The
two ruling parties can also rely on Super
Political Action Committees, or Super PACs, to raise
unlimited amounts of cash from wealthy individuals, labor unions, corporations
and other political action committees. The Super PACs can make unlimited
“independent” expenditures on behalf of the campaign, although they are not
supposed to give directly to the campaign or co-ordinate their activities with
federal candidate committees.
Republicans
and Democrats, because they raise so much money, have no incentive to
participate in the public financing system or create an alternative one that
might assist third parties and independents.
“What do
impoverished third-party and independent candidates have?” Amato writes. “They
get federal financing for the general election only after the fact — if, and
only if, they break five percent of the national vote total. The uncertain
possibility of getting money after the fact is just about useless to the
candidate running in the current election who cannot count on it, though it may
be helpful to the party next time around.”
If third
parties and independents are willing to subject themselves to an automatic and
onerous federal audit, as well as meet a variety of precise financing
requirements in at least 20 states, and agree to spending limits in all states
and overall for their campaigns, they may be eligible to qualify for primary
election matching funds.
As the book “Third
Parties in America,” points out, the Federal Election
Commission Act is “a major party protection act.”

Nuclear
Weapons: Devastation Inside the US
https://consortiumnews.com/2023/08/02/nuclear-weapons-devastation-inside-the-us/
by William J. Kinsella
As the
anniversaries of the bombings
of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on Aug. 6 and Aug. 9, 1945,
approach, it’s a timely moment to look further at dilemmas wrought by the
creation of the atomic bomb.
The Manhattan
Project spawned a trinity of interconnected legacies. It initiated a global
arms race that threatens the survival of humanity and the
planet as we know it. It also led to widespread public health and environmental
damage from nuclear weapons production and testing. And it generated a culture
of governmental secrecy with troubling political consequences.
As a
researcher examining communication in science, technology,
energy and environmental contexts, I’ve studied these legacies
of nuclear weapons production. From 2000 to 2005, I also
served on a citizen
advisory board that provides input to federal and state officials
on a massive environmental cleanup program at the Hanford
nuclear site in Washington state that
continues today.

all too many of us don’t grasp the stakes involved in a nuclear conflict,

many other books. Lifton describes psychic

completely unprecedented dimension of this revolution in technological

“The Atomic
Executioner’s Lament”
https://consortiumnews.com/2023/08/02/scott-ritter-the-executioners-lament/
by Scott Ritter
While the
world focuses on the trials and travails of the scientists who
invented the atomic bomb, little attention is paid to the hard positions taken
by the nuclear executioners, the men called upon to drop these bombs in time of
war.
While
Oppenheimer and his scientists designed the nuclear device, the mechanism of
delivery — the bomb itself — was designed by specialists assigned to the 509th.
It was the job of the men of the 1st Ordnance Squadron to build
these bombs from scratch.
The bomb
dropped on Hiroshima by Paul Tibbets, flying a B-29
named the Enola Gay, was
assembled on the Pacific Island of Tinian by the 1st Ordnance
Squadron.
Concerned
about the possibility of the B-29 crashing on takeoff, thereby triggering the
explosive charge that would send the uranium slug into the uranium core (the
so-called gun device), the decision was made that the final assembly of the
bomb would be done only after the Enola
Gay took off.
One of the 1st Ordnance
Squadron technicians placed the uranium slug into the bomb at 7,000 feet over
the Pacific Ocean.
The bomb
worked as designed, killing more than 80,000 Japanese in an instant; hundreds
of thousands more died afterwards from the radiation released by the weapon.
For the pilot
and crew of the Enola Gay,
there was no remorse over killing so many people. “I knew we did the right
thing because when I knew we’d be doing that I thought, yes, we’re going to
kill a lot of people, but by God we’re going to save a lot of lives,’ Tibbets recounted to Studs Terkel in 2002. He added:
“We won’t
have to invade [Japan]. You’re gonna kill innocent
people at the same time, but we’ve never fought a damn war anywhere in the
world where they didn’t kill innocent people,” Tibbets
told Terkel. “If the newspapers would just cut out
the shit: ‘You’ve killed so many civilians.’ That’s their tough luck for being
there.”

How to Ignore
4.5 Million Deaths
https://scheerpost.com/2023/08/02/how-to-ignore-4-5-million-deaths/
by Bryce Greene
A review of
Norman Solomon’s “War Made Invisible”.
Brown
University’s Costs of War project released
a study this year estimating that US-led wars since 9/11
have contributed directly and indirectly to 4.5 million deaths in the targeted
countries. Those countries—Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan, Libya, Somalia
and Syria—have also seen an estimated 40–60
million people displaced from their homes.
This refugee crisis is as destructive as any war, and marks the largest number
of refugees since the end of World War II. By all accounts, the US-led Global
War on Terror has been a disaster for tens of millions of people.
When the
study was released in May, there was only one report (Washington Post, 5/15/23) in all of
America’s top
newspapers that brought attention to the
staggering figure. The Hill (5/16/23) and a few
smaller outlets (NY1, 5/17/23; UPI, 5/16/23) published
pieces on the topic, but the bulk of corporate media did not deem it worthy of
any coverage at all.

John Bolton
Accidentally Explains Why US Policy On Russia And
China Is Wrong
https://www.informationclearinghouse.info/57691.htm
by Caitlin
Johnstone
Professional
psychopath John Bolton has an article out with The Hill titled “America can’t permit Chinese
military expansion in Cuba” which
inadvertently spells out exactly what’s wrong with the way the US empire keeps
amassing heavily armed proxy forces on the borders of its large Asiatic
enemies.
Citing a Wall
Street Journal report from last month in
which anonymous US officials claim that Havana has entered negotiations with
Beijing for a possible future joint military training facility in Cuba, Bolton
argues that the US must use any amount of aggression necessary to prevent this
facility’s construction, up to and including regime change interventionism.
“The potential of significant Chinese
facilities in Cuba is a red-flag threat to America,” Bolton writes, arguing
that such activities “could well camouflage offensive weapons, delivery systems
or other threatening capabilities.”
“For example, hypersonic cruise missiles,
already harder to detect, track, and destroy than ballistic missiles, are
natural candidates for installation in Cuba, a prospect we cannot tolerate,
along with many other risks, like a Chinese submarine base,” he adds.

“Is Nuclear War Comparable to Climate Change?”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/is-nuclear-war-comparable-to-climate-change/5827647
by Peter Koenig
Imagine! –
“Nuclear War is no worse than climate change.”
This
statement was made contextually on Sunday, 25 July, by Washington’s top
diplomat, Antony Blinken, on a 60-Minutes
Australian TV-Interview.
On second
thought, safe for the nuclear radiation that may linger on for years – weaponized climate change, as it has been
applied for at least the last three years – but long before to a lesser extent,
may be equally destructive.
What is sold
today to the largely sleeping western populace as climate change, which is the
stern application of man-made Environmental Modification – ENMOD, also
called geoengineering.
The idea of
climate manipulation was promoted with the Club of Rome in the early
1970s and has been explicitly pointed out in the infamous Report “Limits to
Growth” (1972).
It exposes
the possibility of exponential economic growth and population with finite
supply of resources, adding in the alleged “calamity” of CO2-caused
climate change -as the world is increasingly industrialized, all based on CO2
emanating from hydrocarbon fuels, and other greenhouse gases.
Just for the
record and to remember – today still 85% of all energy used in the world stems
from hydrocarbons. A similarly high proportion of hydrocarbon energy to fuel
the world will likely remain for the next 30 to 50 years, unless the world
economy is deliberately triggered into a collapse mode (as there are NO viable
energy alternatives available today and tomorrow).
And the
commanders of the climate change freaks are well aware of this.
Who knows,
whether a worldwide economic demise is the intention of the ruling elite which
currently pretends to mastermind the course of humanity and Mother Earth.
“Limits to
Growth” is still today’s blueprint for the
UN Agenda 2030 and the WEF’s Great Reset and its
implementation instrument, Klaus Schwab’s wet dream, “The Fourth Industrial Revolution” – meaning,
all-digitization, transhumanism, robotization
and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in charge of the plebs of human kind.
The Club or
Rome’s conclusion – which propagates actively “mass population reduction” – are all
based on computer models.
With the
“right” man-made inputs, you get the wanted conclusions.

“Believe
Absolutely Nothing the US Government and Media Say About ...Anything”
by Glen Ford, BAR
executive editor
It is true
now just as when Glen Ford wrote these words in 2019. In any alliance with
corporate oppression and militarism, Black America squanders reservoirs of
respect among the Earth’s peoples. We betray ourselves
and become Black Gringos.
There was a
time, not so long ago, when most Black Americans of all classes were highly
skeptical of every word that emanated from the mouths of white folks in power
in the United States. A substantial body of Black opinion believed nothing at
all that appeared in the corporate media – which, back then, we simply called
the “white press.” It was a wise and healthy skepticism, learned
over generations of enduring a constant stream of lies and slander against
Black people from politicians and mass media of the two governing parties.
These organs and mouthpieces of rich white people’s power were no more to be trusted,
as Malcolm X counseled, than “foxes” (Democrats) and “wolves” (Republicans).
The logic of the collective Black domestic experience extended to international
affairs, as well. We empathized with the “colored” peoples of the world under
attack by the U.S. government and media. If white politicians and press lied
about us, we knew they were probably lying about their foreign non-white
victims, as well. And we were right.
Then came the
Sixties and our grassroots movement’s victories over official American
apartheid. One of the governing parties (the foxes) opened its doors
to Black participation, and big business media began putting Black faces in
front of the cameras. Racial euphemisms replaced outright slander against
Blacks and the lies became more nuanced. But it was not until the advent of the
First Black President that African Americans lost much of their traditional
skepticism of U.S. government motives, at home and abroad. When
Barack Obama threatened to bomb Syria in retaliation for an alleged -- and
provably false – chemical attack on civilians, in September of 2013, polls
showed more Black Americans than whites wanted the bombs to fall. Although only
minorities of Americans of all races favored bombing Syria, it was the first
time in the history of U.S. polling that Blacks were more bellicose than whites.
Only a decade
earlier, in the run-up to President Bush’s 2003 assault on Iraq, the Zogby polling organization had asked a representative
sampling of Americans the question: “Would you favor an invasion of Iraq if it
resulted in the death of thousands of Iraqi civilians?” Large majorities of
white men and nearly a majority of white women were in favor of such an invasion,
as were 16 percent of Hispanic Americans. But only 7 percent of African Americans said,
“Yes” – meaning, the U.S. government and media demonization campaign against
Iraq had been effective among only a very marginal segment of African
Americans. Blacks still empathized with the masses of Iraqi civilians, while
whites definitively did not.
The fact that
overwhelming numbers of Blacks also perceived George Bush and his party as
hostile to African American lives and interests, certainly made them more
empathetic towards Bush’s foreign victims, and the specific reference to
“civilians” in the Zogby question is significant. But
the erosion of Black internationalism – or, at least, Black American solidarity
with other peoples of color in the world – is palpable and inarguable. Two
years before the false-flag Syria chemical attack crisis, half of the
Congressional Black Caucus voted against a bill that would have halted Obama’s murderous
and totally unprovoked bombing of Libya– an African
country! – with virtually no protest from Black
America.
Obama has
retired to the luxurious haunts of the rich and famous classes that he served
so well as president. Catastrophically, however, his replacement in the Oval
Office by overtly racist Donald Trump is viewed as such an existential threat
that much of Black America has made common cause with the FBI, the CIA and the
worst warmongers in the Democratic Party in a hysteria to be rid of the Orange
Menace. Russiagate is perhaps the most successful
psychological warfare operation in U.S. history, and has largely neutralized
Black America’s traditional aversion to U.S. imperial aggressions. The
Democratic Party and most of the corporate media have for the past three years
been furiously mobilized behind a CIA-instigated “resistance” that is NOT
directed against Trump’s pro-rich, anti-Black and poor people policies, but rather
seeks to solidify public support for U.S. military and economic domination of
the world -- an imperialism of planetary terror and blackmail and domestic
austerity and deprivation.
Black America
cannot possibly achieve anything meaningful by siding with corporate Democrat
Foxes and CIA Rattlesnakes in their ongoing coup against the Orange Peckerwood
and his legions of crackers. Russiagate is a stealth
assault on all who disagree with the corporate narrative and rich people’s
version of Truth. The only victors will be the oligarchy of Fat Cats and
military-industrial complex Wolves. African Americans are admired the world
over as a people that Fight the Power, not as conniving
co-conspirators with humanity’s enemies. The Foxes need Black votes to get their
turn at stealing the eggs, but their leaders have assured the Fat Cats that
there will be no Medicare for All, no dignified minimum wage, no forgiveness of
college debt, no Green New Deal, no relief from gentrification and no retreat
from half a century of militarized policing and mass incarceration of Black
America.
There will
certainly be no let-up in the campaign of starvation that has claimed the lives
of tens of thousands of mostly Black, brown and indigenous Venezuelans, a
bipartisan, 20 year-long aggression; or the Dem-Rep tag-team’s
multi-generational siege of Iran, a country that has not invaded anyone in
centuries; or the Clinton-Bush-Obama-Trump military occupation of Africa, which
has killed more than six million in Congo, alone.
The Foxes want
to annihilate Russia, while the Wolves would blot out China. Neither can accept
a world in which the U.S. ruling class is not supreme over the planet. In an
alliance with such evil, Black America loses more than its soul – we squander
the reservoirs of respect that generations of African American fighters for
human dignity have earned among the Earth’s peoples. We become Black Gringos,
while still at the bottom of the American heap – a most ignominious end to our
saga.
We find our
real allies in struggle against the Lords of Capital -- the Fat Cats that have
made our world a killing field. The epic struggle for Black self-determination
is inseparable from the struggle for peace and a livable planet. Join the Black

“Reality vs. Illusion. People have been Robbed
of their Ability to ‘Decipher between Fact and Fiction’”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/revelation-method/5779242
by Dustin Broadbery
CIA Director,
William Casey is reputed
to have said to Ronald Reagan ‘We’ll know our disinformation
is complete when everything the American public believes is false.’
Fast forward
thirty years, and there’s no piece of fiction the masses will not swallow.
From Woke to
COVID to the war in Ukraine, people no longer make their own ideological
pilgrimages to the truth – the truth is served oven-ready by their political
betters.
Nowadays,
there’s little distinction between the two hemispheres: reality and illusion.
It’s not so much that people have been robbed of their ability to decipher
between these two, it’s that facts have been
reoriented into fiction and fiction into facts. It’s a degradation of
epistemology so momentous, that people don’t even know that they don’t know
that they don’t know what’s happening, to quote
one former anarchist.
In the grand
scheme of things, humanity has perjured themselves and life as we know it has
morphed into a sort of science-fiction, soap-opera with few
common ancestors to reality. Even right-thinking folks
require the equivalent of a cerebral chainsaw to hollow out the slew of
implausible narratives into something remotely resembling reality. It goes
beyond fiction to predictive programming. They’re
not just deceiving you; they’re showing you that they’re deceiving you.
What is
neither here nor there to the deceived
is the track record of their deceivers.
Before the ink dried on the newsprint proclaiming the crisis in-waiting,
the falsifications of COVID were buried under the falsehoods of war, Zelensky’s standing ovation at Westminster knocked Pfizer’s
data release off the rostrum and those formerly joined at the hip to COVID got
hitched to their Ukrainian brides.
This entire
fiasco holds water because what
people think they know for sure, that just ain’t so,
is a consensus. A preponderance of fabrications, falsehoods and false

State of the
World: "Political Treachery, Deceptions, Lies and Criminality".
Colonel Pedro Baños
https://www.globalresearch.ca/state-world/5827445
by Peter Koenig
Introduction
Colonel Pedro
Baños is a Spanish military, specialized in
geopolitics. He is the author of five books and countless articles, essays and
interviews. One of his books is dedicated to the analysis of Machiavelli and
his theories. Machiavelli was a controversial Italian statesman and philosopher
of the 15th century, who lived during the Renaissance. Among
Machiavelli’s attributes is showing the world that according to his experience
and reading of history, politics to be successful, have always been played with
deception, treachery, and crime.
In his
presentations, Pedro Baños demonstrates that today’s
situation is not different from what it was six centuries ago. The state of the
world today is one of political treachery, deception, lies and crime of
utmost proportion, including mass genocide.
The
propaganda means of today are of course much more sophisticated than in the
Middle Age, englobing the entire world at once, with medias amply paid by a corporate elite attempt to take total
control of the world and its population.
Colonel Baños is one of the most popular geostrategists,
divulging the truth with profound analysis but in language simple enough to be
understood by all strata of humanity.
Summary of
Key Points of Colonel Pedro Baños’s Presentation
In a few
examples of his analyses, Pedro Baños talks about the
west’s “Green Agenda”, how
it has nothing to do with environmental protection, but everything with what
may be called “Green Capitalism”.
Accumulation
of profit in the hands of a few elitists, regardless of the harm it does to the
environment and the people.
Pedro Baños talks about the massive construction in parts
of Europe and the US of “windmills” to generate “renewable” electricity. They
are not only damaging the environment because of the raw materials, including
battery capacity, but also because the lifespan of such a windmill is on
average max. 25 years. After that, they need to be disposed of — how and where?
– They are a burden for the environment.
As a similar
case of disregard for the environment and the wellbeing of the people, Colonel Baños mentions electric cars. The environmental costs to
build an electric car are enormous. Starting with the lithium batteries that
amount to close to half the weight of the car – lithium is exploited under
almost slave conditions in Latin America.
Add to this,
that in most countries energy first must be converted from hydrocarbons (which
still amount to 85% of all energy used in the world) to electricity, so that
the overall fuel efficiency is lowered from about 85% in a state-of-the art
modern car to around 35% to 40% for an electric car; and third, so far no
environmentally and socially safe way of disposing of the expired car batteries
has been found.
Read More: “Sick and
Tired” of Lies, Wars and Tyranny? And What’s the Way
Out?
Pedro Baños also describes the west-east division, comparing the
Global South – east – about two thirds of the world population – and 60% of the
world’s GDP – against the west, represented by the boisterous G7s, representing
a mere 780 million people, a tiny proportion
of the world population, but with their “bought” media, they make people
believe they are running the universe.
By no means
are the G7 a voice for the world. The Global South which contains more than two
thirds of the world population, is clearly leaning
east, away from the pressures and coercions of the ever-more dictatorial west.

US to deploy
2,500 troops to Syria: Report
https://new.thecradle.co/articles/us-to-deploy-2500-troops-to-syria-report
by The Cradle News Desk
A US military
official recently said that there is a Russian-Iranian initiative to expel
Washington’s troops from Syria.
Turkish
newspaper Yeni Safak reported on
18 January that Washington intends to deploy around 2,500
troops to northern Syria.
“Following Turkiye's relentless struggle against the Kurdistan
Workers’ Party (PKK), a series of controversial steps have
been taken consecutively by the US,” the report reads, adding that Washington
“has recently announced the deployment of 2,500 troops to northern regions of
Syria.”
“Several
sources reveal that the 2,500 US soldiers, having completed their training, are
scheduled to be deployed to Syria and Iraq for a minimum of nine months,” the
Turkish report goes on to say.
According to
the report, their “primary objective” will be to support Kurdish militants,
particularly the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who are military aligned with
the Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG), a branch of the Kurdistan Workers
Party (PKK), which is considered a terrorist organization by Ankara.
Yeni Safak says that this deployment raises concerns in Turkiye, given Washington’s recent commitment to
counterterrorism efforts during the NATO summit in Lithuania last week.

“Wildfires in
Syria Used as a Weapon of War”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/wildfires-syria-used-weapon-war/5827316
by Steven Sahiounie
Wildfires
broke out on July 25 in Latakia province in northwest
Syria and are still burning amid new fires being
started. The fires spread quickly by a sudden unusual wind which whipped up.
The whole country, and the adjacent Mediterranean region, is in a heat-wave
which sets the stage for such a devastating fire burning crops, forests and
homes. However, this was not a chance wildfire, but was an act of terrorism.
General Jalal Dawoud, Head of the Fire Department in Latakia, says the fire was man-made. This was determined
because the origin of the fire was not in one place, but was started in
scattered areas all at the same time in daylight hours.
After the
security forces began their investigation, it was found that the fires were
started by drones originating from Idlib, under the
occupation of Hayat Tahrir
al-Sham, formerly Jibhat al-Nusra,
the Al Qaeda affiliate in Syria.
Turkey is
illegally occupying Idlib as they protect the
terrorists under the command of Mohammed Jolani,
formerly allied with Abu Baker Al Baghdadi, the head of ISIS who was
killed in Idlib by President Trump.
The
terrorists have been attacking the fire fighters and vehicles. Bassem Bakar, a water tanker
driver, was killed when the terrorists targeted his vehicle near Deir Hanna and Rabiah. Two other
men with him were injured.
Turkey is
well known for the manufacture of drones, and has been selling drones to
Ukraine recently.
On July 25, a
fire department vehicle drove over a previously planted mine on Zgharo Mountain, near the town of Maskita,
but without injuries. This area was occupied by the terrorists now in Idlib during the 2015 period before they were driven east
to Idlib.

The Mayor of Latakia, Amer Hallal, said
fire depratments from many areas came to fight the
fires, and a Russian water tanker airplane came to battle the fires. Civilians
were evacuated from homes and farms and taken to a safe area where they were
given humanitarian aid.

The Black

by Turker Erturk
Amid rising
tensions in the Black Sea, Ukraine's desire for NATO membership, diminished US
global influence, and Russia facing a potential quagmire, Turkiye
must assert a balanced foreign policy to avoid a global military confrontation
in the strategic waterway.
On 11 July
2023, NATO issued the 90-point Vilnius Summit Communiqué, at a summit widely seen as “a historic moment
for the future of European security, and Ukraine’s in particular.” The
take-away: Russia’s war in Ukraine will continue.
This
reaffirmed NATO's unwavering support for Kiev, as previously pledged at the
2008 Bucharest Summit, and emphasize that “We fully support Ukraine’s right to
choose its own security arrangements. Ukraine’s future is in NATO.”
The NATO
Summit culminated with leaders from 31 countries making a significant
announcement: Ukraine had been offered an invitation to join NATO. The catch,
however, was that Ukraine was not yet deemed ready for membership; "We
will be in a position to extend an invitation to Ukraine to join the Alliance
when Allies agree, and conditions are met,” it read. This has left the
international community wondering about the timeline and specifics of Ukraine's
eventual participation in the Altanticist alliance.

The Assertion by Israel to Have the
Only Valid Claim to Palestinian Land Is "Dangerous Nonsense"!
by Hans Stehling
It is historically accurate to say that Palestinian Arabs have lived in
the region known as Palestine for over one thousand years. The history of the
Palestinian people in the area can be traced back to ancient times and has been
continuous for many centuries.
The term “Palestine” has been used to refer to the region between the
Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, which includes present-day Israel, the
West Bank, and the Gaza Strip. Throughout history, this region has been home to
various civilisations and peoples, including
Canaanites, Philistines, Israelites, Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks,
Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Crusaders, Mamluks,
Ottomans, and others.
Read More: ‘Palestine
must be obliterated,’ Says Deleted Times of Israel Column
The Arab
presence in the region became more prominent during the Arab-Muslim conquests
of the 7th century. During this time, the area that is now known as Palestine
became a part of the wider Islamic Caliphate. Over the centuries, various Arab
dynasties and empires ruled the region.
It’s
important to note that the demographic composition of the area has changed over
time due to conquests, migrations, and various historical events. The modern
Palestinian identity, rooted in Arab culture and history, has developed over
centuries, with cultural, religious, and historical ties to the land.
Palestinian Arabs have maintained a presence in the region for
generations and have contributed to its culture, history, and society. Their
connection to the land is a crucial aspect of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,
as both Israelis and Palestinians claim historical ties to the same area.
The history
of the region is complex, and multiple populations have lived there throughout
different periods. Recognising the historical
presence of Palestinian Arabs in the land of Palestine is essential for
understanding the current dynamics and complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict.
Therefore,
the assertion by Israel to have the only valid claim,
is patently dangerous nonsense.

Israel is ignoring crime in

With over 130
murders this year alone, violent crime within Israel’s Palestinian community is
reaching new levels and grabbing headlines.
But while the
murder rate is unprecedented, the crime spree has been a long time in the
making.
Much has to
be attributed to decades of state policies, specifically over the past 20
years, that have negatively affected various aspects of life for Israel’s
Palestinian citizens, whether socioeconomic, their marginalization in political
life, or with respect to their own national self-identity.
Generations
of Palestinian have suffered official discrimination and a shrinking horizon
for a better future.
This
marginalization – which includes a lack of state funding for various social and
educational programs, leaving three times as many Palestinians as Jews in
poverty, budget policing in Palestinian areas, and restrictions on expanding
living space – goes right back to the founding of the Israeli state during the Nakba 75 years ago.
This period
includes the nearly 20 years of martial law imposed on the community from
1948-1966.
This has
allowed space for violent criminal gangs. The absence of any engaged police
presence has led to a loss of a deterrence, and bloody
retaliations between families and between criminal organizations have added to
the mix, contributing to a general state of insecurity.
It is from
here that 2023’s 131
murders have come.

“‘Greater
Israel’: The Zionist Plan for the Middle East”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/greater-israel-the-zionist-plan-for-the-middle-east/5324815
by Israel Shahak and Prof Michel Chossudovsky
The current
Netanyahu government is committed to the “Greater Israel” and the “Promised
Land”, namely the biblical homeland of the Jews.
According to
the founding father of Zionism Theodore Herzl, “the area of the Jewish
State stretches: “From the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates.” According to
Rabbi Fischmann, “The
Promised Land extends from the River of Egypt up to the Euphrates, it includes
parts of Syria and Lebanon.” . . .
When viewed
in the current context, including the siege on Gaza, the Zionist Plan for the
Middle East bears an intimate relationship to the 2003 invasion
of Iraq, the 2006 war on Lebanon, the 2011 war on Libya, the ongoing
wars on Syria, Iraq and Yemen, not to mention the political crisis in Saudi
Arabia.
The “Greater
Israel” project consists in weakening and eventually fracturing neighboring
Arab states as part of a US-Israeli expansionist project, with the support of
NATO and Saudi Arabia. In this regard, the Saudi-Israeli rapprochement is from
Netanyahu’s viewpoint a means to expanding Israel’s spheres of influence in the
Middle East as well as confronting Iran. Needless to day,
the “Greater Israel” project is consistent with America’s imperial design.
“Greater
Israel” consists in an area extending from the Nile Valley to the
Euphrates. According
to Stephen Lendman,
“A near-century ago, the World Zionist Organization’s plan
for a Jewish state included:
• historic Palestine;
• South
Lebanon up to Sidon and the Litani River;
• Syria’s
Golan Heights, Hauran Plain and Deraa;
and
• control of the Hijaz Railway from Deraa to Amman, Jordan as well as the Gulf of Aqaba.
Some Zionists
wanted more – land from the Nile in the West to the Euphrates in the East,
comprising Palestine, Lebanon, Western Syria and Southern Turkey.”

Biden, Jayapal, and Liberal Zionists Rush to Prop Up the Israel
Lobby for 2024
https://www.informationclearinghouse.info/57696.htm
by Philip Weiss
In the last
couple of days we have seen a historic moment in the life of the Israel lobby. And a sign of its eventual crackup.
As you know
by now, on a
panel at the progressive Democratic event Netroots
Nation in Chicago Saturday, pro-Palestinian
demonstrators demanded that Illinois Rep. Jan Schakowsky support a
bill in Congress that would leverage U.S. aid to
Israel so as to protect Palestinian children, a bill she has not signed on to;
Schakowsky threatened to walk out; and Washington Rep. Pramila
Jayapal, who has signed on to the bill, tried to end
the demonstration by saying that she was on their side.
As somebody
who’s been in the streets and participated in a lot of demonstrations, I want
you to know that we have been fighting to make it clear that Israel is a racist
state… etc.
So Israel is
a racist state. An “offhand” “gaffe,” liberal Zionists argued
later. But all hell broke loose.
Within a day,
“Israel is a racist state” was a giant scandal. Republicans leaped all over the
comment. So did the Democratic leadership. It denounced Jayapal’s
comment, and 40-some Democrats signed on, saying Jayapal’s
comments were “unacceptable,” and the U.S.-Israel relationship is “ironclad.”
The Republicans introduced
a bill to reaffirm U.S. support for Israel because it
is not a “racist or apartheid” state.
Despite
political cover from the Squad, Jayapal then
walked her statement back Sunday night. Of course
she doesn’t think Israel is racist! There are just “extreme racists” pursuing
“outright racist policies” in the government.
Jayapal got tons of support from liberal Zionists. Michelle
Goldberg wrote in the New York Times it was a
“wise” clarification from Jayapal, and went on to
explain Jayapal’s beliefs. She believes in a Jewish
state. Don’t worry, she’s not an anti-Zionist, Goldberg said repeatedly.
Her words at Netroots Nation could have been interpreted as ideological
opposition to Zionism, which does not reflect Jayapal’s
views; like most Democrats, she wants to see a Jewish state alongside a
Palestinian one…
[A] state’s leaders and policies can be bigoted without the
state itself being irredeemable. That’s basically Jayapal’s
stance, which is why she’s not an anti-Zionist.
Jeremy
Ben-Ami of J Street also rushed to assure everyone that Jayapal
is not any threat to U.S. support for Israel.
Rep. Jayapal supports the U.S.-Israel relationship while also
advocating for a negotiated 2-state solution and Palestinian human rights.
J Street
threw in that the
“malicious” pro-Palestinian protesters
were antisemitic to be
focusing on Schakowsky, who is Jewish. (When the truth
is that they focus on any progressive who won’t sign this
legislation–legislation J Street claims it supports but has never lifted a
finger to lobby for! Like, say, urging Schakowsky to support it.)
What is the
game here? What is going on? . . . .

Israel pulls

https://electronicintifada.net/blogs/maureen-clare-murphy/israel-pulls-trigger-us-lets-it-hook
by Maureen Clare Murphy
Israel’s
abuses of Palestinian rights have spiked this year as it accelerates
settlement-building and consolidates its regime of Jewish supremacy from the
river to the sea.
Ending impunity is the primary call
from Palestinian human rights groups documenting Israel’s crimes.
One such group, Al-Haq, called
for “urgent, effective and meaningful accountability
measures to ensure an end to Israel’s unlawfully enjoyed culture of impunity”
after settlers rampaged in a Palestinian village earlier this year.
In late February and early March –
after a series of
deadly raids in Palestinian cities and refugee
camps and settler
attacks against Palestinian communities – Al-Haq and other organizations urged the
International Criminal Court to issue a preventive statement to deter further
crimes.
A preventive statement should, the
groups argued, specify that all allegations of Israel’s crimes in the occupied
West Bank and Gaza will be probed by the court.
No such statement was issued. And
since then, Israel has only increased its use of force, employing drone
strikes in the West Bank for the first time and dropping
missiles on Jenin refugee camp in the largest military
operation in the territory in two decades.
Meanwhile,
the ICC’s investigation of war crimes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, launched
more than a year ago, appears to be stalled and underfunded, seemingly low on
the new chief prosecutor’s priority list.
Third states
have enthusiastically financially and politically supported the court’s
activities in Ukraine, where the chief prosecutor has made repeated visits.
There has been no such fanfare for the Palestine investigation – despite it
being one of the most documented situations of war crimes and crimes against
humanity.
Israel’s
powerful friends – some of them, like Canada, state
parties to the ICC and others, like the US, not – are
even opposed to and
undermining the Palestine
investigation.
More positively, however, this month the European Parliament approved a resolution reiterating the European Union’s
“strong support” for the ICC’s independence while noting its “limited progress”
in the investigation in Palestine.
The European
Parliament asked that the EU
“commit to helping the ICC and its prosecutor to move forward with the
investigation and prosecution.”
And at the
United Nations last week, Ronald Lamola, South
Africa’s justice minister, noted the lack of progress of the ICC’s
investigation in Palestine and called for equal access to justice.

“What is
Israel hiding about the death of Gaza worker Amin Warda?”
https://electronicintifada.net/content/what-israel-hiding-about-death-gaza-worker-amin-warda/38236
by Asma Abu Amra and Ahmed Al-Sammak
After almost
two decades of unemployment, Amin Warda,
59, finally got a permit to work in Israel in April this year.
Soon after
receiving the permit, he traveled to Israel from the Nuseirat
refugee camp in Gaza. However, he returned home after a fruitless two-day
job search.
On 22 April,
he again went to Israel, as his friend had secured him a job at a fish
processing facility in the city of Kiryat Malakhi, east of Ashkelon.
“He was over
the moon, as he would be able to pay his debts and help my younger brothers get
married,” his son Abdul Qadir, 35, told The
Electronic Intifada.
Amin, a father of six, worked at the fish processing plant on
23 April, a Sunday, and talked via cell phone to his family about his
satisfying work conditions.
The next
morning, after having stayed the night in Israel, he was on his way to work,
accompanied by Abu Muhammad Miqdad, a co-worker at the
fish plant who is also from Gaza.
Amin’s family said that, according to Miqdad,
Amin was experiencing discomfort due to his work
shoes. They still had about half a mile in their walk to the fish processing
facility, so Amin rested on the sidewalk while Miqdad continued.
Hours later,
when he did not appear at work, his employer and Miqdad
went to the spot where Amin had stopped.
Miqdad told Amin’s family that a store
owner in the area had said that Amin had been
surrounded by people, fallen to the ground and was then taken away in
an ambulance.
“We lost
contact with him Monday evening,” Amin’s son Abdul Qadir said. “His phone was turned off.”
Amin’s brother Ziyad, who lives in the
West Bank, hurried to Israel to look for him at the police stations and many
nearby hospitals, but to no avail.
Cause of
death “undetermined”
On Wednesday
26 April, Amin Warda’s sons
went to the Palestinian Authority’s District Coordination Office in Gaza, which
is responsible for “security coordination” with Israel.
The next morning,
the family received a call from Israel, informing them that Amin’s
body was at Israel’s National Center of Forensic Medicine (Abu Kabir) in Tel Aviv. The family is unsure who, exactly, made
the call from Israel.
His body was
transported to Gaza on Friday morning, 28 April, in a black body bag, along
with the medical report, his ID and his money. But his phone was missing.
The Israeli
medical report reads that Amin died on 24 April, but
it did not provide a cause of death, only listing it as “undetermined,” in
English. It also did not explain the bruises on his body.
The
circumstances surrounding his death still remain unclear. The family believes
that Israelis beat him to death based on the condition of his bruised body and
the fact that he had disappeared for four days.
Yet concrete
evidence to support their view is yet to emerge.
“Why were
there notable bruises on his face, belly and back? Why did he disappear for
four days? How was his body moved to Tel Aviv? Where was his phone this whole
time?” Abdul Qadir asked angrily.
“He never
suffered from [any health ailments],” he said. “He was a lovable person without
any enemies.”

Palestinian resistance operation in
Tel Aviv kills Israeli security guard
by The Cradle News Desk
The attack
comes on the anniversary of the Battle of the Unity of the Fields in the Gaza
Strip.
A Palestinian
resistance fighter opened fire and killed an Israeli police officer on a busy
street in central Tel Aviv on 5 August before he was shot dead by a fellow
officer, Al-Jazeera reported.
According to i24 News, Israeli police officers on
motorcycles identified Kamel Abu Bakr, 22, a member of
the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s (PIJ) Saraya al-Quds Brigade, based on his behavior and clothing. When they
attempted to question him, he pulled out his gun and shot one of the officers,
Chen Amir, 42.
The Magen David Adom ambulance
service said Amir was critically hurt after being shot in the head. He was
taken to the nearby Ichilov Hospital, where he later
died.
Videos
circulated online of police and civilians on Saturday running through the
cafe-lined streets in the seaside metropolis.
Abu Bakr is from the town of Rummanah,
near Jenin, a center of Palestinian resistance
against occupation in the West Bank. Abu Bakr had
been hiding in the Jenin refugee camp for the past
six months. According to the Israeli Shin Bet, he had been wanted by Israeli
security forces for opening fire at Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank.
On the night
of the attack, the Israeli military measured Abu Bakr's home in Rummanah in
preparation for its possible demolition.

Another North
American Church Names Israeli Apartheid
https://scheerpost.com/2023/08/01/another-north-american-church-names-israeli-apartheid/
by Jeff Wright
The Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ) has declared that “many of the laws, policies and
practices of the State of Israel meet the definition of apartheid as defined in
international law”
athered Saturday for their biennial General
Assembly in Louisville, Kentucky, the Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ) in the U.S. and Canada decided
by an overwhelming voice vote to adopt a resolution naming Israeli apartheid.
There was only one delegate who spoke in opposition.
The resolution, Compelled

reports from B’Tselem, Human
Rights Watch, Amnesty
International and a 2022 Pastoral
Letter written by leaders of the denomination—affirms
“that many of the laws, policies and practices of the State of Israel meet the
definition of apartheid as defined in international law.”
Attended by
over 3,000 persons, the assembly also asserted that “the continued oppression
of the Palestinian people is a matter of theological urgency and represents a
sin in violation of the message of the Biblical prophets and the Gospel.”
Daniel
Mitchell, a youth from the primary submitting congregation, introduced the
resolution by describing his recent pilgrimage to Palestine/Israel. Referencing
an Israeli military raid on the Dheisheh refugee camp
this past January, he said, “As I slept in a hotel in Bethlehem only a few
miles away, Israeli forces fired live ammunition at teenagers, hitting and
killing 15-year-old Adam Ayyad. Devastatingly, Adam’s story is not
unique. In the first 200 days of 2023, nearly 200 Palestinians have been
killed, including 29 children.”
“We can
discuss apartheid in
the legal sense,” Mitchell said, “but most importantly we must understand the
real and human impacts of an apartheid system.”

world into good and bad countries, democracies and autocracies. There is little
room to accommodate a comprehensive picture of the pre-history, root causes of
conflicts, and nuances. One observes an almost total absence of a sense for
proportions.
The Global
Majority in Latin America, Africa and Asia is increasingly alarmed by the
surrealistic spectacle of a collective West that seems out of control,
developing its own lethal dynamic, displaying a paroxysm of Russophobia
and Sinophobia, incitement to hatred, cancel culture,
refusal to entertain serious dialogue, doubling-down on eschatological demands.
Many non-Western thinkers and politicians are articulating justified warnings
that the on-going intestinal conflicts in the West are adversely impacting the
economies of third-world countries and may ultimately result in Apocalypse for
the entire planet. The West is not playing the classical Russian roulette – it
has developed its own version: Ukrainian roulette, compulsive apocalyptic vabanque.
Meanwhile the
Western media, notably Reuters, AP, CNN, Fox, New York Times, Washington Post,
BBC, Le Monde, Figaro, FAZ, der Spiegel, even the
Swiss NZZ ensure the daily indoctrination doses for the Western public,
purveying skewed narratives that repeat and embellish what Washington and
Brussels ordain, blithely ignoring other views and perspectives and the
principle audiatur et altera pars.
Freedom of the media in the collective West seems to mean the right to repeat
NATO narratives ad nauseam,
even when they have been proven wrong. This “freedom” also includes the freedom
to ignore every critical voice about NATO and to refrain from asking critical
questions at NATO press conferences.
Western media
systematically fail to report on the fears of billions of human beings in the
rest of the world, Brazilians, Mexicans, South Africans, Ugandans, Indians,
Chinese, who want peace and stability in the world as well as a chance for
sustainable development. Many in these countries blame not Russia but
Washington and Brussels for provoking the Ukraine conflict. This Global
majority is not interested in whether Crimea lies in Russia or Ukraine. They
demand a peaceful solution to an internal Western strife, so that the
spill-over does not dislocate the economies of non-Western countries. Peace
must be sought and achieved at the negotiating table and not on the
battlefield.

“Requiem for
NATO’s Nightmare”
https://consortiumnews.com/2023/07/28/scott-ritter-requiem-for-natos-nightmare/
with Scott Ritter
The
dysfunction of the Atlantic military alliance over Ukrainian
membership was just the most public manifestation of the debacle that was the
Vilnius summit.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emerges as a
tragic figure in the unfolding drama that is the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
He was asked
to sacrifice the lives of his countrymen in order to be seen by the U.S. and
NATO as worthy of joining their club. But when the sacrifice did not produce
the desired result (i.e., the strategic defeat of Russia), the door to NATO,
which had been left open a crack to tease Ukraine into performing its suicidal
task, was slammed shut.
Despite
NATO’s disingenuous machinations to maintain the optics of potential Ukrainian
membership (the Ukraine-NATO Council, created during the Vilnius Summit earlier
this month, stands as a prime example), everyone knows that Ukrainian
membership in the trans-Atlantic alliance is a fantasy.
Ukraine is
now left to pick a poison of its own choosing — accept a peace which makes
permanent Russian territorial claims while forever foregoing the possibility,
however distant, of NATO membership; or to continue to fight, with the likely
outcome of the additional loss of territory and destruction of the Ukrainian
nation and people.
Robert
Graves’ autobiography, Goodbye to All
That, does double duty by providing a template for Ukraine as it charts
the passing of Europe’s old order — the U.S.-dominated NATO alliance, the
European Union, the rules-based international order and all the post-World War
II structures, which held the Western world together for nearly eight decades.
They are all now crumbling around us.
Graves’ struggle
to adapt to post-war England in the aftermath of the horrors of the First World
War, and his observations of a nation collectively struggling to define itself,
is a cautionary tale for what is in store for Ukraine.
As Ukraine
bids farewell to its former self, it must also part with its dreams of becoming
one with a European community whose own longevity is very much in doubt. That
is largely because of its disastrous involvement in the Russian-Ukrainian
conflict.

Ukraine and
the great revival of American empire
https://www.informationclearinghouse.info/57697.htm
by Andrew J. Bacevich
Amidst the
dross that clutters the New York
Times op-ed page on most days, glimmers of enlightenment occasionally
appear. A recent guest column by Grey
Anderson and Thomas Meaney offers a case in point.
“NATO Isn’t What It Says It Is,” declares the headline. Contrary to the
claims of its architects and defenders, Anderson and Meaney
argue persuasively that the central purpose of the alliance from its founding
was not to deter aggression from the East and certainly not to promote
democracy, but to “bind Western Europe to a far vaster project of a U.S.-led
world order.” In return for Cold War-era security guarantees, America’s
European allies offered deference and concessions on issues like trade and
monetary policy. “In that mission,” they write, NATO “has proved remarkably
successful.” A plot of real estate especially valued by members of the American
elite, Europe thereby became the centerpiece of the postwar American imperium.
The end of the Cold War called these arrangements into question.
Desperate to preserve NATO’s viability, proponents claimed that the alliance
needed to go “out of area or out of business.” NATO embraced an activist
posture, leading to reckless state building interventions in Libya and
Afghanistan. The results were not favorable. Acceding to U.S. pressure to
venture out of area proved to be costly and served chiefly to undermine NATO’s
credibility as a militarily capable enterprise.
Enter Vladimir Putin to save the day. Just as Russia’s invasion of
Ukraine provided the U.S. with an excuse to forget its own post-9/11 military
failures, so too it has enabled NATO to once more constitute itself as the
chief instrument for defending the West—and, crucially, to do so without
actually exacting a blood sacrifice from either Americans or Europeans.
In this context, the actual fate of Ukraine itself figures as something
of an afterthought. The real issue centers on reviving damaged aspirations of
American global primacy. With something like unanimity, the U.S. national
security establishment is devoted to the proposition that the United States
must remain the world’s sole superpower, even if this requires ignoring a vast
accumulation of contrary evidence suggesting the emergence of a multipolar order. On that score, Putin’s recklessness came
as an impeccably timed gift.
There is an element of genius at work here. Defeating Russia without
having to do any actual fighting becomes the means to restore the image of
American indispensability squandered during the decades that followed the fall
of the Berlin Wall. For Washington, as Anderson and Meaney
appreciate, the true stakes in Ukraine go far beyond the question of whose flag
flies over Crimea. If Ukraine “wins” its war with Russia—however “winning” is
defined and however great the price Ukrainians must pay—NATO itself (and the
NATO lobby in Washington) will claim vindication.
Rest assured that major European nations will then quietly renege on
promises to boost their military spending, with actual responsibility for
European security once more falling to the United States. With the centennial
of World War II now within hailing distance, U.S. troops will remain
permanently garrisoned in Europe. This will serve as cause for celebration
throughout the U.S. military industrial complex, which will prosper.
Flexing its muscles, the United States will inevitably prod a greatly
expanded NATO into turning its attention to enforcing the “rules-based
international order” in the Asia-Pacific, with China as the chosen adversary.
Ukraine will thereby serve as a template of sorts as the U.S. and its allies
throw their weight around many thousands of miles from Europe proper.
The U.S. global military footprint will expand. U.S. efforts to put its
house in order domestically will founder. Pressing global problems like the
climate crisis will be treated as afterthoughts. But the empire that has no
name will persist, which ultimately is the purpose of the game.
President Biden is fond of saying that the world has arrived at an
“inflection point,” implying the need to change directions. Yet the overarching
theme of his approach to foreign policy is stasis. He clings to the
geopolitical logic that prompted NATO’s founding in 1949.
Back then, when Europe was weak and Stalin ruled the Soviet Union, that
logic may have possessed some merit. But today the importance attributed to
NATO testifies chiefly to the bankruptcy of American strategic thought and an
inability to prioritize actually existing U.S. national interests, both foreign
and domestic.
A sound revision of U.S. national security strategy would begin with
announcing a timeline for withdrawing from NATO, converting it into an
arrangement wholly owned and operated by Europe. The near impossibility of even
imagining such an action by the United States testifies to the dearth of
imagination that prevails in Washington.

“Russia Starves the World.” Italy’s Meloni
“Confirms It”. The Causes of Hunger are Manipulation
of Food Prices and Corporate “Land Grabbing”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/russia-starves-world-meloni-confirms-it/5827344
by Manlio Dinucci
At the United
Nations Food Systems Summit, Italy’s President Meloni
confirmed the West’s accusation against Russia:
“Russia’s war
of aggression against Ukraine has exacerbated food insecurity in many African nations, had a major impact on the distribution of grains
around the world exacerbating the global food security crisis. This would be
the cause of the fact that 30 percent of humanity, 2.4 billion people, do not
have access to adequate food, that more than 700 million people (according to
official default estimates) are chronically undernourished, i.e., condemned to
premature death from starvation.
See video: Austrian MPs Leave the Chamber
While Zelensky Delivers His Speech
What the real
causes are is indicated by the World Bank’s own data: while wholesale prices of
agricultural products and cereals have fallen by 4 percent and 12 percent
respectively in one year, food prices have risen worldwide, often by 10 percent
or more, affecting low-income countries the most. What the real causes of
hunger are is shown by the growing phenomenon of “land grabbing”: the grabbing
of arable land in Africa and other regions by large speculative groups. The
same ones that speculate on all commodities, including grains: more than 6
million commodity buying and selling contracts are entered into daily at the
Chicago Commodity Exchange for speculative purposes.
The
accusation that Russia is starving Africa because it is blocking Ukrainian
grain shipments falls in the face of the fact that almost all of the grain sent
by Ukraine went to European Union countries, not to poorer nations, to which
only two ships out of 87 were sent.
At the Second
Russia-Africa Summit it was announced that Russia exported more than 11 million
tons of grain to Africa last year and nearly 10 million tons in the first six
months of 2023. All this took place despite illegal sanctions imposed on
Russian exports. In the coming months Russia will supply 50,000 tons
of wheat each to Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, Central African
Republic, and Eritrea, delivered at no cost.

Moscow
Accused of Inciting “Hunger Games”: The World Will Not Face Wheat Crisis in the
Wake of the “Ukraine Deal”
by F. William Engdahl
Since Russia
announced on July 17 that it would not renew its Black Sea Grain Initiative
agreement brokered by Turkey and the UK, to allow Ukraine grain exports with
safe passage from Odessa and two other Ukraine Black Sea ports, mainstream
Western media claim that the refusal will create global starvation and soaring
food prices.
A Ukrainian
strike on the major bridge linking Russia’s mainland with the Crimean
Peninsula, timed precisely for the ending of the grain agreement provoked a
massive retaliation strike by Russian forces severely damaging the Odessa and
nearby grain shipping ports. What is indeed the situation with food supplies
from the “Breadbasket of Europe” as Ukraine used to be called?
On July 19
the Indian Express carried the headline, “World facing prospect of ‘hunger
games’ as China hoards grains and Russia withdraws from deal.”
They stated
further,
“A hunger
crisis could be in store for the world next year due to the withdrawal of
Russia from a major food grain deal with Ukraine, the impact of the food-grain
hoarding by China, the world’s largest consumer of rice, warned an
analyst.” The LA Times was similarly alarmist, “Russia halts deal
allowing Ukraine to export grain, in a hit to global food security.”
CNN, Yahoo
and other Western media carried similar alarmist stories. None of them bothered
to go into detail on the current situation. It is far less alarming than
claimed. The world may face grain shortages soon, but it will not be because of
Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
On July 19
two days after the cancellation, world grain futures prices spiked higher by
some 8%, on news that Russia now considered any ship landing at Odessa or other
Ukraine ports to be suspected weapons freight and a target for Russian
missiles. Western media has since claimed that Russia is causing world
potential famine by ending the Ukraine grain export deal. What are the actual
facts?
Why Russia
Stopped It
The Black Sea
Grain Initiative deal was
agreed in July 2022 following charges that Russia’s military actions in Ukraine
were creating severe grain problems for African and other poor countries.
Russia agreed, with UN participation, to a deal in which a safe Black Sea
passage from Ukraine grain ports such as Odessa would be guaranteed by Russia
in return for the West’s lifting sanctions on export of Russian wheat and
fertilizers, including lifting the SWIFT ban for the major Russian state grain
export bank.
Russia,
Ukraine, Turkiye and the United Nations reached the
agreement on July 22, 2022 to provide a humanitarian maritime corridor for
ships carrying food and fertilizer exports from Ukrainian Black Sea ports. On
May 18, 2023, Russia extended the deal, called the Black Sea Grain Initiative,
for 60 days, until July 17.
There was a
major problem. The West refused to honor the Russian part of the deal.
According to the state Russian Sputnik news portal,
“The deal is
an integral part of a package agreement. The second part — the Russia-UN
memorandum, designed for three years — envisions the unblocking of Russian
exports of food and fertilizers, the reconnection of the Russian Agricultural
Bank to SWIFT, the resumption of supplies of agricultural machinery, spare
parts and services, the restoration of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline
(which Ukraine sabotaged in June-w.e.), and a number
of other measures. Moscow says this part of the package agreement has not yet
been implemented.”
On July 17,
the day Russia announced it would not renew the deal, Ukraine, aided by US and
UK intelligence, launched a deadly attack on the sole bridge linking Crimea,
where the Russian Black Sea naval fleet is based, to the Russian mainland.
The vehicle
spur was badly damaged by a Ukrainian naval drone and two civilians were
killed, with a third in a coma. Moscow launched deadly reprisals over the next
several nights with major bombing attacks that destroyed much of the port
infrastructure of Odessa and other Black Sea ports nearby.
Grain
terminals and port infrastructure in Ukraine were targeted in Russian attacks
on the night of July 18 and 19, causing major damage that will take at least a
year to fully repair, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of
Ukraine.
A significant
portion of infrastructure of the port of Chornomorsk
was knocked out, and 60,000 tons of grain also was destroyed. Grain
infrastructure of international and Ukrainian traders and carriers such as the
Luxemburg-Ukrainian Kernel, Viterra, a part of the
huge Swiss-based Glencore group, the world’s largest
commodity trader, and the French CMA CGM Group were damaged.
Moscow also
charges that not only did the UN and the West refuse to honor the Russian part
of the agreement. The West was also using the protected ships to deliver NATO
and other weapons to Ukraine to feed the war, hardly a humanitarian act.

Migration and
the Shadow of War
https://www.informationclearinghouse.info/57698.htm
by Andrea Mazzarino
How the Real
Story of a Migrant Boat Disaster Escaped Our Attention
Seeking news
coverage about the
Adriana, the boat crowded with some 700 people migrating to
Europe to seek a better life that sank in mid-June
off the coast of Greece, I googled “migrant ship” and
got 483,000 search results in one second. Most of the people aboard the Adriana
had drowned in the Mediterranean, among them about 100
children.
I did a similar search for the Titan
submersible, which disappeared the same week in
the North Atlantic. That kludged-together pseudo-submarine was taking four
wealthy men and the 19-year-old son of one of them to view the ruins of the
famed passenger ship, the Titanic. They all died when the Titan imploded
shortly after it dove. That Google search came up with 79.3 million search
results in less than half a second.
Guardian journalist Arwa
Mahdawi wrote a powerful column about the different kinds of attention those two boats
received. As she astutely pointed out, we in the anglophone
world could hardly help but follow the story of the Oceangate
submersible’s ill-fated journey. After all, it was the lead news story of the
week everywhere and commanded the attention of three
national militaries (to the
tune of tens of
millions of dollars) for at least five
days.
Why do people care so much about rich men who paid $250,000 apiece to
make what any skilled observer would have told them was a treacherous journey,
but not hundreds of migrants determined to better their families’ lives, even
if they had to risk life itself to reach European shores?

House Foreign Affairs Committee Marks Anniversary of Cuba’s July 2021
Uprising With Renewed Calls For Regime Change
byJeremy Kuzmarov
To
commemorate the two-year anniversary of right-wing protests in Cuba in July
2021, the House Foreign Affairs Committee sponsored a roundtable next to
the Bay of Pigs museum in Miami, Florida, that affirmed U.S. calls for regime
change in Cuba...
House Foreign Affairs Committee
Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) said that the peaceful
protests designed to take back the island from communist tyranny “met with
unspeakable brutality” at the hands of an “oppressive government” that is an
“increasing threat to U.S. national security because of its growing
relationship with Communist China.”
Supporting a new House bill that
would increase funding for radio propaganda and pro-democracy initiatives
designed to facilitate regime change, McCaul
emphasized how China had (allegedly) established a spy base in Cuba, which had
become part of the Belt and Road initiative, and was negotiating to establish a
military facility on Cuba’s northern coast.
General Fulgencio
Batista: America’s boy. [Source: tvorini-gr.blogspot.com]
This, he
said, was taking us back to the days of the Cuban Missile Crisis when Fidel
Castro had allowed the Soviet Union to establish a foothold on the island 90
miles from the United States.
According to McCaul, “history shows us that weakness invites aggression
and emboldens dictators like Miguel Díaz-Canel
[Cuba’s leader].” The U.S., in his estimation, should not engage with the Cuban
regime but “stand with freedom fighters until they finally take back the island
and reset democracy.”
McCaul may be unaware of the fact that the U.S. never supported
democracy in Cuba but was a primary sponsor of the Fulgencio
Batista dictatorship, which brutally ruled in the interests of foreign capital
and the U.S. Mafia prior to the 1959 Cuban Revolution about which McCaul and others at the roundtable seemed aloof.
McCaul’s claim about a Chinese spy base—thought
to have been constructed near the town of Bejucal between March 2017 and February 2018—has also not
been verified.
Cuban Deputy Foreign
Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío
said that “all of these [claims about the spy base] are lies with the malicious
intention to justify the unprecedented intensification of the blockade,
destabilization and aggression against Cuba and to deceive public opinion in
the United States and the world.”

What Are the
Real Reasons for the Global South Food Crisis?
https://scheerpost.com/2023/08/01/what-are-the-real-reasons-for-the-global-south-food-crisis/
by Anuradha Chenoy
Don’t ignore
the role of financial speculation.
The global
food crises, exacerbated by the Black Sea grain initiative’s
end, disproportionately impacts the Global
South. But will the resumption of these grain shipments bring closure to
the extreme hunger rampant in many countries? Serious research provides
solutions, if the underlying and real reasons for the crises are recognized and
addressed.
Factors like
war, the breakdown of distribution and transportation (Russia-Ukraine), changed
climate patterns (Pakistan
floods), reduced exports from major exporters (India’s ban
on selective rice
exports) lead to price increases. However, decades of research has established that there is enough
food production to feed the world; the problem of food insecurity lies
elsewhere.
For example,
wheat prices started increasing in 2021 and were pushed up after the Russian
invasion of Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions. But global wheat
production increased in the same period and could have compensated for this
gap. Four companies (Archer Daniel Midland,
Bunge, Cargill and Louis Dreyfus) control 70 to 90 percent of global grain
trade. They have made huge profits during the war as food
grains became unaffordable and 345 million experience acute
food insecurity. Olivier De Schutter, United
Nations special rapporteur on
extreme poverty argued that these companies could have done more to prevent
the hunger crisis in the
first place. As African Union Chairperson and Senegal President Macky Sall said Africa has
become collateral damage in the
sanctions game.

“Let Them Eat
Bugs: Challenging the WEF’s Corporate-Driven Food Reset”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/let-them-eat-bugs-challenging-wef-corporate-driven-food-reset/5827289
by Colin Todhunter
The
prevailing globalised agrifood model is built on
unjust trade policies, the leveraging of sovereign debt, population
displacement and land dispossession. It fuels commodity monocropping
and food insecurity as well as soil and environmental degradation.
It is
responsible for increasing rates of illness, nutrient-deficient diets, a
narrowing of the range of food crops, water shortages, chemical runoffs,
increasing levels of farmer indebtedness, the undermining and destruction of
local communities and the eradication of biodiversity.
The model
relies on a policy paradigm that privileges urbanisation,
global markets, long supply chains, external proprietary inputs, highly
processed food and market (corporate) dependency at the expense of rural
communities, small independent enterprises and smallholder farms, local
markets, short supply chains, on-farm resources, diverse agroecological
cropping, nutrient dense diets and food sovereignty.
It is clear
that there are huge environmental, social and health issues that stem from how
much of our food is currently produced and consumed and that a paradigm shift
is required.
So, some
optimists – or wishful thinkers – might have hoped for genuine solutions to the
problems and challenges outlined above during the second edition of the United
Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) that took place last week in Rome.
The UNFSS has
claimed that it aims to deliver the latest evidence-based, scientific
approaches from around the world, launch a set of fresh commitments through
coalitions of action and mobilise new financing and
partnerships. These ‘coalitions of action’ revolve around implementing a ‘food
transition’ that is more sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly.
Founded on a
partnership between the UN and the World Economic Forum (WEF), the UNFSS is,
however, disproportionately influenced by corporate actors, lacks
transparency and accountability and diverts energy and
financial resources away from the real solutions needed to tackle the multiple
hunger, environmental and health crises.
According to a recent article on The
Canary website, key multi-stakeholder initiatives (MSIs)
appearing at the 2023 summit included the WEF, the Consultative Group on
International Agricultural Research, EAT (EAT Forum, EAT Foundation and
EAT-Lancet Commission on Sustainable Healthy Food Systems), the World Business
Council on Sustainable Development and the Alliance for a Green Revolution in
Africa.
The global corporate agrifood sector, including
Coca-Cola, Danone, Kelloggs,
Nestlé, PepsiCo, Tyson Foods, Unilever, Bayer and Syngenta,
were also out in force along with Dutch Rabobank, the
Mastercard Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation.
Through its “strategic partnership” with the UN, the WEF regards MSIs as
key to achieving its vision of a ‘great reset’ – in this case, a food
transition. The summit comprises a powerful alliance of global corporations,
influential foundations and rich countries that are attempting to capture the
narrative of ‘food systems transformation’. These interests aim to secure
greater corporate concentration and agribusiness leverage over public
institutions.
Hannah Sharland, the author of the piece in The Canary, writes:
“… the UN is knowingly giving the very
corporations sponsoring the destruction of the planet prime seats at the table.
It is precisely these corporations who already shape the state of global food
systems.”
She concludes that the solutions to a burgeoning world crisis cannot be
found in the corporate capitalist system that manufactured it.
During a press conference on 17 July 2023, representatives from the People’s
Autonomous Response to the UNFSS highlighted the urgent,
coordinated actions required to address global hunger. The response came in the
form of a statement from those representing food justice movements, small-scale
food producer organisations and indigenous peoples.
The statement denounced
the United Nations’ approach. Saúl Vicente from the
International Indian Treaty Council said that the summit’s organisers
aimed to sell their corporate and industrial project as ‘transformation’.
The movements and organisations opposing the
summit call for a rapid shift away from corporate-driven industrial models
towards biodiverse, agroecological,
community-led food systems that prioritise the public
interest over profit making. This entails guaranteeing the rights of
peoples to access and control land and productive resources while promoting agroecological production and peasant seeds.
The response to the summit adds that, despite the increasing recognition
that industrial food systems are failing on so many fronts, agribusiness and
food corporations continue to try to maintain their control. They are deploying
digitalization, artificial intelligence and other information and communication
technologies to promote a new wave of farmer dependency or displacement,
resource grabbing, wealth extraction and labour
exploitation and to re-structure food systems towards a greater concentration
of power and ever more globalised value chains.
Shalmali Guttal,
from Focus on the Global South, says:
“… people from all over the world have presented
concrete, effective strategies… food sovereignty, agroecology,
revitalisation of biodiversity, territorial markets
and a solidarity-based economy. The evidence is overwhelming – the solutions
devised by small-scale food producers and Indigenous Peoples not only feed the
world but also advance gender, social, economic justice, youth empowerment,
workers’ rights and real resilience to crises.”
Guttal asks “why are policy makers not
listening to this and providing adequate support?”
That’s easily answered. The UN has climbed into bed with the WEF and
unaccountable corporate agrifood and big data giants,
which have no time for democratic governance.
A new report by FIAN International was released in parallel to the
statement from the People’s Autonomous Response. The report –Food Systems Transformation – In which direction? –
calls for an urgent overhaul of the global food governance architecture to
guarantee decision making that prioritises the public
good and the right to food for all.
Sofia Monsalve, secretary general of FIAN
International, says:
“The main stumbling block for taking effective
action towards more resilient, diversified, localized and agroecological
food systems are the economic interests of those who advance and benefit from
corporate-driven industrial food systems.”
These interests are promoting multistakeholderism:
a process that involves corporations and their front groups and armies of
lobbyists co-opting public bodies to act on their behalf in the name of
‘feeding the world’ and ‘sustainability’.
A process that places powerful private interests in the driving seat,
steering policy makers to facilitate corporate needs while sidelining the
strong concerns and solutions being forwarded by many civil society,
small-scale food producers’ and workers’ organisations
and indigenous peoples as well as prominent academics.
The very corporations that are responsible for
the problems of the prevailing food system. They offer more of the same, this
time packaged in a biosynthetic, genetically-engineered, bug-eating, ecomodernist, fake-green wrapping (see the online article From net zero to glyphosate: agritech’s greenwashed corporate power grab’).
While more than 800 million people go to bed hungry under the current
food regime, these corporations and their wealthy investors continue to hunger
for ever more profit and control. The economic system ensures they are not
driven by food justice or any kind of justice. They are compelled to maximise profit, not least, for instance, by assigning an
economic market value to all aspects of nature and social practices, whether
knowledge, land, data, water, seeds or systems of resource exchange.
By cleverly (and cynically) ensuring that the needs of global markets
(that is, the needs of corporate supply chains and their profit-seeking
strategies) have become synonymous with the needs of modern agriculture, these
corporations have secured a self-serving hegemonic policy paradigm among
decision makers that is deeply embedded.
It is for good reason that the People’s Autonomous Response to the
UNFSS calls for a mass mobilisation to challenge the
power that major corporate interests wield:
“[This power] must be
dismantled so that the common good is privileged before corporate interests. It
is time to connect our struggles and fight together for a better world based on
mutual respect, social justice, equity, solidarity and harmony with our Mother
Earth.”
This may seem like a tall order, especially given the financialization
of the food and agriculture sector, which has
developed in tandem with the neoliberal agenda and the
overall financialization of the global economy. It
means that extremely powerful firms like BlackRock –
which holds shares in a number of the world’s largest food and agribusiness
companies – have a lot riding on further entrenching the existing system.
But hope prevails. In 2021, the ETC Group and the International Panel of
Experts on Sustainable Food Systems released the report A Long
Food Movement: Transforming Food Systems by 2045. It
calls for grassroots organisations, international
NGOs, farmers’ and fishers’ groups, cooperatives and unions to collaborate more
closely to transform financial flows and food systems from the ground up.

healthy and equitable agroecological production
systems, build short (community-based) supply chains and restructure and democratise governance structures.

Despite global efforts to reduce
carbon output, the world is consuming more crude oil than ever. In the past few
weeks, global oil demand has surpassed the monthly peak set in 2019 before the
Covid-19 pandemic. Expressed in barrels a day, the fresh
record high in global oil consumption totals about 102.5 million, likely hit in
the last few weeks in July and above the 102.3 million of August 2019. Jimmy
discusses whether elites will ever give up the thirst for oil and if instead of
trying to stop climate change we should focus global attention on preparing for
its impacts.

Climate
Lawsuits Spreading Worldwide
https://consortiumnews.com/2023/08/01/climate-lawsuits-spreading-worldwide/
by Julia Conley
With a number
of international courts ruling in recent years that
climate justice must be recognized as a human right, the United Nations Environment
Program has released a report that finds climate litigation emerging as a key
driver of concrete action being taken by governments and corporations — forcing
them to commit to emissions cuts and take accountability for harming the
planet.
UNEP joined
with the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia University to compile
the “Global
Climate Litigation Report: 2023 Status Review,” and
found that the number of climate crisis-related legal challenges filed across
the world has more than doubled since the group’s first analysis in 2017.
Nearly 900
climate cases were filed in 2017, while 2,180 were brought to courts in 2022.
“Climate
policies are far behind what is needed to keep global temperatures below
the 1.5°C threshold, with
extreme weather events and searing heat already baking our planet,” said Inger Andersen, executive director of UNEP.
“People are
increasingly turning to courts to combat the climate crisis, holding
governments and the private sector accountable, and making litigation a key
mechanism for securing climate action and promoting climate justice.”

The Darkness Ahead: Where the Ukraine War Is Headed
https://www.globalresearch.ca/darkness-ahead-where-ukraine-war-headed/5826728
by John J. Mearsheimer
This paper
examines the likely trajectory of the Ukraine war moving forward.[1] I will address two main questions.
First, is a
meaningful peace agreement possible? My answer is no.
We are now in
a war where both sides – Ukraine and the West on one side and Russia on the
other – see each other as an existential threat that must be defeated. Given
maximalist objectives all around, it is almost impossible to reach a workable
peace treaty. Moreover, the two sides have irreconcilable differences regarding
territory and Ukraine’s relationship with the West. The best possible outcome
is a frozen conflict that could easily turn back into a hot war. The worst
possible outcome is a nuclear war, which is unlikely but cannot be ruled out.
Second, which
side is likely to win the war?
Russia will
ultimately win the war, although it will not decisively defeat Ukraine. In
other words, it is not going to conquer all of Ukraine, which is necessary to
achieve three of Moscow’s goals: overthrowing the regime, demilitarizing the
country, and severing Kyiv’s security ties with the
West. But it will end up annexing a large swath of Ukrainian territory, while
turning Ukraine into a dysfunctional rump state. In other words, Russia will
win an ugly victory.
Before I
directly address these issues, three preliminary points are in order. For
starters, I am attempting to predict the future, which is not easy to do, given
that we live in an uncertain world.
Thus, I am
not arguing that I have the
truth; in fact, some of my claims may be proved wrong. Furthermore, I am not
saying what I would like to see happen. I am not rooting for one side or the
other. I am simply telling you what I think will happen as the war moves
forward. Finally, I am not justifying Russian behavior or the actions of any of
the states involved in the conflict. I am just explaining their actions.
Now, let me
turn to substance.

“The Ever
Widening War”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/ever-widening-war-2-2/5827296
by Paul Craig Roberts
This report from Larry Johnson demonstrates
that my often expressed concern about the ever widening conflict in Ukraine has
been correct. Putin is now confronted with a US/Polish plan for Poland
to seize Western Ukraine. This would bring Ukraine into NATO and
defeat Putin’s goal of demilitarizing Ukraine and maintaining Ukraine as
an independent but neutral country.
Putin held a
video conference on Thursday with members of Russia’s Security Council. I hope
folks in the West pay attention to what he said, which
is why I’m presenting the entirety of his remarks following a presentation by
the Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service. Based on public source
information and Russia collected intelligence, Russia believes that Poland is
planning to seize Ukrainian territory west of the Dnieper River as Ukraine’s
much ballyhooed counter offensive collapses.
Let me give
you Putin’s bottomline up front:
“Regarding
the policy of the Ukrainian regime, it is none of our
business. If they want to relinquish or sell off something
in order to pay their bosses, as traitors usually do, that’s
their business. We will not interfere.
But Belarus
is part of the Union State, and launching an aggression
against Belarus would mean launching an aggression against
the Russian Federation. We will respond to that with all
the resources available to us.”
Johnson’s article.
As I Said, a Nano-Second to Midnight
It remains a mystery that Putin did
not realize that a long drawn out conflict would provide Washington with
opportunities to prevail. Putin shows acceptance of Poland seizing western
Ukraine as long as it does not threaten Belarus. In other words, Ukraine
will enter NATO as part of Poland.
Unless Putin can find the will to
take Odessa, Kharkiv, and northeastern Ukraine,
Poland will have a Black Sea base and missiles on Russia’s border, and
Washington will have prevailed at the expense of
Ukraine and Russia

Putin Issues Stark Warning to Poland
and NATO

Foreign Intelligence Service. Based on public source information and Russia

Vladimir
Putin is not a weak, spineless creature like Barack Obama
or Joe Biden. He does not make idle threats and does not succumb to emotion.
So let us
start with the briefing by Sergei Naryshkin,
Russia’s Intelligence Chief:
Director
of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin: Mr President, colleagues.
“According
to information provided to the service by several sources,
officials in Warsaw are gradually coming to an understanding
that no kind of Western assistance to Kiev can support Ukraine
in reaching the goals of this assistance. Moreover, they are
beginning to understand that Ukraine will be defeated in only
the matter of time.
In this
regard, the Polish authorities are getting more intent on taking
the western parts of Ukraine under control by deploying their
troops there. There are plans to present this measure
as the fulfillment of allied obligations within
the Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian security initiative, the so-called
Lublin Triangle.”
We see that
plans also call for significantly increasing the number
of personnel of the combined Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian
brigade, which operates under the auspices of this so-called Lublin
Triangle.
If Russia
sees Poland starting to mass troops on Ukraine’s border (and do not forget that
the United States has deployed at least two armored brigades in Poland), this
certainly will capture the attention of the Kremlin leadership. Putin responded
at length to Naryshkin’s briefing. This does not read
like prepared remarks. He appears to be speaking extemporaneously and draw some
very bright red lines for NATO.
Vladimir
Putin: Yes. We should elaborate on what Mr Naryshkin has just said. This
information has already appeared in the European media,
in particular, the French.
I believe
it would be suitable in this context to also remind everyone about
several history lessons from the 20th century.
It is clear
today that the Western curators of the Kiev regime are certainly
disappointed with the results of the counteroffensive that
the current Ukrainian authorities announced in previous months. There
are no results, at least for now. The colossal resources that
were pumped into the Kiev regime, the supply of Western weapons,
such as tanks, artillery, armoured vehicles
and missiles, and the deployment of thousands
of foreign mercenaries and advisers, who were most actively used
in attempts to break through the front of our army, are not
helping.
Meanwhile,
the commanders of the special military operation are acting
professionally. Our soldiers, officers and units are fulfilling their duty
to the Motherland courageously, steadfastly and heroically.
At the same time, the whole world sees that the vaunted
Western, supposedly invulnerable, military equipment is on fire,
and is often even inferior to some of the Soviet-made
weapons in terms of its tactical and technical characteristics.
Yes,
of course, more Western weapons can be supplied and thrown into
battle. This, of course, causes us some damage and prolongs
the conflict. But, firstly, NATO arsenals and stockpiles of old
Soviet weapons in some countries are already largely depleted.
And secondly, the West does not have the production capacities
to quickly replenish the consumption of reserves
of equipment and ammunition. Additional, large resources
and time are needed.
The main
thing is that formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffered
huge losses as a result of self-destructive attacks: tens
of thousands of people.
And, despite
the constant raids and the incessant waves of total mobilisation in Ukrainian cities and villages, it
is increasingly difficult for the current regime to send new
soldiers to the front. The country’s mobilisation
resource is being depleted.
People
in Ukraine are asking a legitimate question more often:
for what, for the sake of whose selfish interests, are
their relatives and friends dying. Gradually, slowly, but clarity comes.
We can see
the public opinion changing in Europe, too. Both the Europeans
and European elites see that support for Ukraine is, in fact,
a dead end, an empty, endless waste of money and effort,
and in fact, serving someone else’s interests, which are far from
European: the interests of the overseas global hegemon, which benefits from the weakening
of Europe. The endless prolongation of the Ukrainian
conflict is also beneficial to it.
Judging
by the actual state of affairs, this is exactly what today’s US
ruling elites are doing. Anyways, this is the logic they follow. It is
largely questionable whether such a policy is in line with
the American people’s true, vital interests; this is a rhetorical
question, and it is up to them to decide.
However,
massive efforts are being taken to stoke the fire of war –
including by exploiting the ambitions of certain East European
leaders, who have long turned their hatred for Russia and Russophobia into their key export commodity
and a tool of their domestic policy. And now they want
to capitalise on the Ukrainian
tragedy.

Seven Reasons
Why Russia Dominates in Ukraine
https://www.globalresearch.ca/seven-reasons-why-russia-dominates-ukraine/5827372
by Drago Bosnic
There have
been little to no at least somewhat objective assessments of Russia’s
special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, primarily due to
the fact that our newsfeeds are being flooded with an ocean of ludicrous
propaganda that only aims to portray Moscow’s forces as supposedly “weak and
ineffective”. Everyone from tabloids and YouTube “experts” to reputable (or rather
once reputable) media keep parroting the same narrative – "Russia is
losing". However, is that the case? Here are seven reasons
why that’s not only patently false, but quite the
opposite, it
couldn’t possibly be further from true.
Unrivaled Command and Control
The Russian Armed Forces, as one of
the largest and most powerful on the planet, are a massive
and complex system. And yet, this system is characterized by centralized
control that allows the Russian High Command to respond to changes on both
tactical and strategic levels in a timely and adequate manner. The Eurasian
giant’s military has massive reserves that are orders of magnitude greater than
the forces deployed on the frontlines. These can easily be relocated to areas
that need to be reinforced while also providing additional assault troops that
can be inserted in areas where the enemy’s defenses are the weakest.
Perhaps the best example of this is the
recent advance of Russian troops in northern Donbass and the border areas between the LNR (Lugansk People’s Republic) and the Kharkov oblast (region),
where Moscow’s forces have been on the offensive for over two weeks. Despite
the fact that the now heavily battered Kiev regime troops have constantly been
losing ground in this area, there’s been virtually no mention of this in any of
the mainstream propaganda outlets. In the meantime, the Neo-Nazi junta’s best
forces are wasting their last battlefield reserves in futile attacks on the
intricate and dense Russian defenses in the Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson oblasts.
And while the
mainstream propaganda machine keeps denigrating the Russian military,
behind the scenes, the Pentagon meticulously observes Russia’s advanced
experience in organizing command and control systems and how it can use it to
improve its own. Moscow’s ability to lead multiple high-intensity military
operations simultaneously while coordinating all this with the rest of Russia’s
massive state apparatus (particularly its world-class diplomacy) is of great
interest to power circles in Washington DC. In stark contrast, the United
States military is experiencing an unraveling of sorts due to
issues with over-politicization and ideology.
Massively Improved ISR
(Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance)
In years
before the SMO, the Russian military wasn’t exactly known for the widespread
use of drones and other unmanned platforms, as the mainstream propaganda
machine kept presenting Moscow’s forces as supposedly “technologically
inferior”. Still, years before the SMO, particularly during its antiterrorist
intervention in Syria, the Kremlin invested significant resources in various
kinds of unmanned systems. The Russian military then used this experience to
massively improve its tactical capabilities, an effort that has exponentially
amplified its performance everywhere. This is particularly true for the SMO, as drones
have been an unrivaled force multiplier for Russian forces.
And while the Kiev regime forces are
vastly superior to NATO-backed terrorists in Syria and elsewhere, and despite
the fact that the belligerent alliance is providing
them with unprecedented amounts of real-time battlefield information,
for the most part, they’ve been unable to capitalize on this massive boost.
Although tactical ISR by the Neo-Nazi junta troops is greatly augmented by
NATO’s strategic one, better results on a larger scale have been sorely
lacking. In contrast, the Russian military’s land, air and space-based
ISR platforms have been used to a deadly effect, inflicting
irretrievable losses on both enemy frontline troops, as well as its rear.

The Ukraine War Will Only End When
and How the Deep State Says It Will?
https://www.globalresearch.ca/ukraine-war-will-only-end-when-how-deep-state-says-it-will/5827438
by Irwin Jerome
Who & Why
Among the Deep State Are Inexorably Leading the World Towards Nuclear War?
For whatever
unknown reason, the totalitarian “puppet master” entities within the Deep
State, clearly, are unequivocally intent, at some rapidly approaching moment in
time, to bring about a climatic Nuclear WWIII, with Ukraine its intended
epicenter.
By now, after
over 520 days of bloody warfare as heinous as anything that ever occurred in
WWI or WWII, the reticence among U.S., NATO and Ukrainian combatants involved,
in spite of the horrendous killing ratios incurred by the Ukrainians and their
mercenary allies, and the obvious reason for their refusal to enter into any
ceasefire or peace negotiations whatsoever with Russia, is disgustingly apparant to even the most casual observer.
While these
Deep State oligarchs and tyrants remain enshrouded in mystery, as they always
have been for decades if not centuries in other previous wars, protected by the
immensity of the dark veil of their wealth and privilege that offers them total
invisibility; their many political underling’s within the Western World’s
version of apparatchik and nomenklatura, within the
United States Government as well as other governments among their NATO Nation
allies, can be readily identified by name and face among their many Presidents,
Prime Ministers, Secretary’s of State,
Undersecretaries of State, National Security Advisors, myriad Ambassadors,
Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Military Defense and Strategic Commanders.
Yet all such
prominent figures, as lofty as their positions may be in their governments,
still essentially amount to nothing more than go-fer’s who continue to simply
carry out the orders and directives of their unknown , shadowy puppet masters
behind closed chambered doors, filtered down to them from whatever Supreme Deep
State entity who always has the last word.
Meanwhile,
the world’s populace, dumbed down by the greatest
mass propaganda war ever waged in history against the world’s billions of
citizens, stand hopelessly transfixed, like deer caught in the on-coming
nuclear war headlights, unable to take any affirmative action the way the
world’s citizenry once upon a time did so vigorously, if not violently, during
previous wars in Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Palestine
or whatever hosts of other wars. Peace advocates extraordinaire, like U.S.
President John F. Kennedy, Russia’s Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, and
singer-songwriter John Lennon would be turning in their graves, for sure.
Who Is the
Deep State and What Are They All About?
One will
never know the full extent of the reach of the Deep State’s behemoth octopus
and its tentacles that extend into every aspect of the world’s geo-politics; or
whatever high-level talks among secret cabals that have occurred over the
years, with at least 5 U.S. presidents in attendance, without any corporate
press ever given notice, or uninvited world politicians allowed to be present,
when whatever plots for the future of the world occur at places like the Bohemian Grove in California’s remote
Sonoma County.
But shadowy
puppet master players within the Deep State of the Old World would have to
include figures within the infamous Rothschild Dynasty, who, for over 200
years, has exercised enormous influence on the
geo-political-military-economic-banking history of the nations of Europe and
those in the America’s of the New World.
Read More: U.S.
Government on “Wrong Side” of Ukraine War. Who Started the War?
Without
knowing all the gory details, it’s all but a virtual guarantee that the huge
international banking dynastic reach of the Rothschild-Rockefeller Dynasty’s,
and others, such as the Bilderberg Group and
Trilateral Commission, somehow also have had a hand in whatever economic
upheavals, regime changes and wars have ever occurred since their inception;
and the role they continue to play in the engineering and manipulations of the
current war in Ukraine and whatever carefully planned and executed ultimate
nuclear WWIII may yet be in the offing.
