by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder
(1974)
Young Frankenstein is a 1974 American comedy horror film directed by Mel Brooks. The screenplay was co-written by Brooks and Gene Wilder.
Wilder also starred in the lead role as the title character, a descendant of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein. Peter Boyle portrayed the monster.
The film is a parody of the classic horror film genre, in particular the various film adaptations of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel Frankenstein;
or, The Modern Prometheus produced by Universal Pictures in the 1930s.
Much of the lab equipment used as props was created by Kenneth Strickfaden for the 1931 film Frankenstein.
To help evoke the atmosphere of the earlier films, Brooks shot the picture entirely in black and white, a rarity in the 1970s,
and employed 1930s-style opening credits and scene transitions such as iris outs, wipes, and fades to black.
The film also features a period score by Brooks' longtime composer John Morris.

Dear
Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,
The history
of pre-capitalist Europe exposes an ideological support of our modern
capitalist society, a “cultural capital” which has accumulated from earliest times,
over millenniums. Just as earlier ideas influenced the development of medieval
culture, so we can see medieval thoughts and institutions influencing our
thinking today, and contributing to the easy perpetuation of essential
inequalities, with the dire consequences of “voluntary servitude,” and worse.
Continuing my readings on the Middle Ages, I’ve turned to an interesting cultural history (approaching a histoire de mentalité) written by William R. Cook and Ronald B. Herzman. Their book, The Medieval World View, An Introduction (1983), includes a detailed description of the foundations of medieval thought, with its dominant influences from the earlier Judeo-Christian and Greco-Roman cultures which impacted the dominant ruling-class ideology in the medieval period of European history. For this reason, chapters 1 and 2 are devoted to these pre-medieval cultures.
When modern scholars divide European history into segments for convenience of study, the usual division is ancient, medieval, and modern, with ancient further subdivided into Greek and Roman. Scholars living in the time of the Middle Ages of course saw no such divisions. They could not have seen themselves coming in the middle of two ages, which is what the etymology of the work ‘medieval’ suggests –a word generally used only since the eighteenth century. More important, in many critical ways they did not see any distinct break between themselves and their classical forebears. In fact, elements for, classical antiquity were taken over, modified, and used to such an extent that in some ways the legacy of classical antiquity is as important to the Middle Ages as the Judaeo-Christian heritage.(p.29)
The Bible – Judaic and Christian.
The first chapter of this work is titled ‘The Bible’ and with considerable detail illustrates the indelible mark left by religious thought on western society, beginning in the Middle Ages.
The Bible was far and away the most influential and important book for the Middle Ages. Three fourths of the Bible is made up of the Old Testament, the writings of the Hebrews. But when students and scholars set out to study the Middle Ages, they often pay far less attention to the Old Testament than they do to the influence of classical antiquity and of early Christianity, let alone the New Testament. When Jerome translated the Bible into Latin in the fourth century in the version that became standard for the Middle Ages, he translated the Old Testament as well as the New, including what today are referred to as the Old Testament Apocrypha. And these Old Testament books were hardly ignored in the Middle Ages. They were read, commented upon, and depicted in art, though usually in what was perceived as their relationship to the New Testament. Thus a brie survey of the kinds of documents that make up the Old Testament is of great value to an understanding of the Middle Ages.(p.2)
The authors then proceed to give a general description the Bible, beginning with the Old Testament, which was written in a much longer period than the New –over a period of some 700 years; compared to the New Testament, which was written over a period of less than 100 years.
The Old Testament consists of legends, historical narrative, laws, poetry, allegory, prophecy, songs, and wise sayings. The first five books of the Old Testament (Genesis; Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) are called the Law (English), the Torah (Hebrew), or the Pentateuch (Greek). These present, often in symbolic terms, the story of creation, the fall of man, the choosing of the Hebrews by God, and their history until the death of Moses. Many of the most familiar Bible stories are contained in these books: Adam and Eve, Cain and Able, Noah, the Tower of Babel, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the bondage in Egypt, the exodus into Palestine, the Ten Commandments. Much of these books is taken up with legal material and precise ritual. Although this ritual material is more or less ignored by Christians today, it captured the interest of medieval writers, and several long allegorical commentaries on the details of ritual and law were composed and widely known. The next two books, Joshua and Judges, tell the story of the conquest of the Promised Land form the native inhabitants, the Canaanites. Perhaps the most famous stories in these books are Joshua at the battle of Jericho, and Samson and Delilah. These books were seen a especially relevant to the Crusades, wars fought with the aim of conquering the Promised Land again. Imagery from Joshua and Judges pervaded Crusade chronicles; the epitaph of the man who conquered Jerusalem in the First Crusade refers to Joshua and Judges –warriors will triumph in battle only if they act morally—is used to explain victories and losses in battle in the Crusades.
After the short book of Ruth come eight books, more or less historical in their orientation . . . .(p.4)
. . .
Perhaps the best-loved book of the Old Testament in the Middle Ages was the Psalms; a series of one hundred fifty songs, which were believed to have been written by King David. These songs express the widest variety of moods and attitudes, ranging from battle songs, songs of thanksgiving, wedding songs, and laments to hymns of praise. Some sing of the love of the faithful for God while others cry out for the annihilation of their enemies. For example, one can contrast the two texts below:
Happy indeed is the man
Who follows not the counsel of the wicked;
nor lingers in the way of sinners
nor sits in the company of scorners,
but whose delight is the law of the Lord
and who ponders his law day and night.(Ps. 1:1-2)
O God, break the teeth in their mouths,
Tear out the fangs of these wild beasts, O Lord!
Let them vanish like water that runs away;
let them wither like grass that is trodden underfoot;
let them be like the snail that dissolves into slime;
like a woman’s miscarriage that never sees the sun.
Before they put forth their thorns, like a bramble,
let them be swept away, green wood or dry!
The just shall rejoice at the sight of vengeance;
they shall bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked.
‘Truly,’ men shall say, ‘the just are rewarded.
Truly there is a God who does justice on earth.’(Ps. 57:7-12)
It is important to remember how familiar medieval people were with the Psalms. The Rule of St. Benedict prescribed that the entire Psalter was to bge sung in church by all monkseach week, and in secular churches also the Psalms were sung often.(p.6-7)
The New Testament is much shorter than the Old and was written in the span of less than 100 years. It is much less varied in its literary forms. (For more on this literary observation of the New Testament, see Joseph Atwill iconoclastic study, Caesar’s Messiah, The Roman Conspiracy to Invent Jesus [2011].)
[The New Testament] consists of four Gospels; the Acts of the Apostles, an account of the early Church; thirteen letters attributed to Paul; the anonymous epistle to the Hebrews, believed in the Middle Ages to have been written by Paul; letters attributed to James, Peter, John, and Jude; and the Apocalypse or Book of Revelation attributed to John.
The Gospels are perhaps the most familiar part of the New Testament because they contain the stories of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. However, these are not biographies in the sense of that a historian would write a biography today. The authors of the Gospels are presenting highly theologized pictures of Christ and are more interested in presenting readers with an understanding of the meaning of Jesus than a chronicle of his activities. The Gospels are divided into two groups: the synoptic (Mathew, Mark, and Luke) and John. Though there are many elements common to all four, this division is useful. The synoptic Gospels of which Mark is the earliest, share many stories and points of view that are not present in John. They have basically the same chronology of events. . . .(pp.10&12)
. . .
John’s Gospel is different from the other three. It contains only one parable, the Christ speaks in a more sophisticated and philosophical way. Furthermore, the chronology differs form the synoptic Gospels. For example, Christ is crucified on the Passover in John and thus is identified with the sacrificial lamb while in the synoptic it was the Last Supper that took place on the Passover and the crucifixion was the day afterward. There are several important themes in John, two of which appear in the opening verses. Christ is associated with light, and Christ is called the Word, who is shown to have been active in the works of creation. . . .(p.14)
. . .
John’s only parable is the famous one of Christ as the Good Shepherd, identifying Christ with the Messiah described by the prophets. This text is important for understanding early representations in art of Christ as the Good Shepherd as well as allusions in later medieval literature.(p.15)
Antiquity – Greek and Roman.
Turning from the medieval heritage of the Bible to the classical heritage in Chapter 2, the authors write that “in some ways the legacy of classical
antiquity is as important to the Middle Ages as the Judeo-Christian heritage.
The ancient Greeks were the ‘inventors’ of more aspects of Western civilization than any other people. We credit them with creating drama, both tragedy and comedy; historical writing, especially the examples of Herodotus and Thucydides; democracy as it evolved in Athens; many types of poetry, from the Homeric epics to Sapphic lyrics to the odes of Pindar; styles of monumental architecture –the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders; and several branches of philosophy, including political philosophy, ethics, and much of what is now classified as natural science.. This is a staggering list. But in some ways the single most important legacy of Ancient Greece to Western civilization generally and the Middle Ages in particular is the influence of its two greatest philosophers, Plato and Aristotle.
Plato (c.427-347) and Aristotle (384-322) lied in Athens within a generation of each others; Aristotle was Plato’s student, although he wrote more in reaction to his teachers than as
a continuation of Plato’s thought. Much as he departed from the doctrine of his master, however, the two shared a number of important presuppositions about the nature of
philosophical inquiry. Perhaps the most important of these is that both wrote in opposition to a prevalent philosophical skepticism, that is, to a mode of philosophical inquiry that
held that truth was untimely relative and that human reason was at best a faulty guide for answering questions about the nature of reality. For both Plato and Aristotle the doctrine
that truth is relative was philosophically untenable, so much so that it is not inaccurate to view the thought of both men as an extended critique of philosophical relativism. This
alone made both thinkers extremely congenial to the philosophers of the Middle Ages, who believed that truth existed and that, within certain limits, it was knowable. It is
hardly surprising then that the two most influential figures in the entire history of Western philosophy should likewise be the most influential to the portion called the Middle Ages.
The historian David Knowles has described this influence in especially emphatic terms. Speaking of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries in particular he says that ‘it is possible to say
that almost all the leading ideas of medieval philosophy, with the partial exception of that branch of it later known as natural theology, were identical with, or were directly derived
from, ideas put into currency at Athens between 450 and 300 B.C.’
The philosophy of Plato has become a model for all subsequent philosophies that find reality in a realm beyond the senses. By positing the doctrine of ‘forms’ or “ideas’ he answered
the question of what abiding reality might exist beyond the seemingly endless flux of the world of things. This doctrine asserted that any individual object existing in this world
was only an appearance, an approximation of the real exemplar, or ‘form,’ which existed in a world beyond the senses.(pp.29-31)
According to these authors, four important legacies from Rome to the medieval world were literature, law, empire, and language.
If one were forced to choose from among [Roman writers], Cicero, Vergil, and Ovid would be most indicative of the types and range of the influence of the Latin classics on
the Middle Ages.
All three, men of genius worth studying for their own sake as well as for their subsequent influence, are thorough students of Greek models.
Cicero was a writer and political figure of the first century B.C. Both in form and content his writings were more studied and imitated than any other prose author. He was considered the master of Latin rhetoric, and thus his mode of expression was a model for students in monastic and cathedral schools, who learned Latin by a conscious imitation of classical models. Anyone who became a professed monk or university student was exposed to Cicero; and even where the influence of his thought was not significant, his sentence structure and his manner of expression were assimilated by the educated clerks of the Middle Ages. However, he was important for more than his prose style. His stoic philosophy, adapted from the philosophical school that originated in Athens in the third century B.C., spoke of the need for humanity to conform to natural laws. This philosophy provided support for the Christian concept of natural law and for Christian ideas about the family of humanity. To give one example of this aspect of Ciceronian influence, his writings on friendship served directly as models for twelfth-century writings on monastic friendship; Aelred of Rievaulx’s work, On Spiritual Friendship, was modeled on Cicero’s treatise On Friendship. (pp.36-37)
. . .
The second writer is Vergil (70-19 B.C.), a poet who lived during the reign of Augustus. His epic poem Aeneid, itself modeled on the Iliad and the Odyssey of Homer, was both in form and content much a model for poetry in the Middle Ages as the writings of Cicero were for prose.
. . .
The journey of Aeneas to his true home had strong resonances with the medieval Christian concept of pilgrimage. Augustine’s spiritual autobiography, the Confessions, moves from Carthage to Rome, perhaps in direct and conscious imitation of the journey of Aeneas. In the Middle Ages, continuing a tradition developed in late antiquity, commentaries were written of the Aeneid that allegorized the journey of Aeneas as the journey of the soul seeking wisdom. Among the most important of these medieval commentaries was that of Bernardus Silvestris, writing in the twelfth century. These commentaries contributed to Vergil’s enormous reputation as a sage in the Middle Ages. He was regarded as a prophet as well as a pagan who anticipated the truths of Christianity, in large part because of a Christian interpretation of the following passage from his fourth Ecloque.
“Now is come the last age of Cumaean prophecy: the great cycle of periods is born anew. Now returns the Maid, returns the reign of Saturn: now form high heaven a new generation comes down. Yet do thou at that boy’s birth, in whom the iron race will begin to cease, and the golden to arise all over the world, holy Lucina, be gracious; now thine own Apollo reigns. And in thy consulate, in thine, O Pollio, shall this glorious age enter, and the great months begin their march: under thy rule what traces of out guilt yet remain, vanishing shall free earth ever from alarm?”
In the Middle Ages, people were sure they recognized a prophecy of Christ’s incarnation in this passage. Furthermore, the fact that he was writing at the time of Augustus, in whose reign Christ was born, supported this interpretation. It was regarded as no mere coincidence.(pp. 39-41)
. . .
The third writer is Ovid (43 B.C.-A.D. 17), who also lived during the reign of Augustus. It was his version of the stories and legends of tth gods and heroes of classical mythology that came down to the Middle Ages and beyond, allowing them to become part of the storehouse of imaginative topics for subsequent literature. His long narrative poem, the Metamorphoses, tells the stories of the classical gods and heroes form creation to his own time, linking them together through the theme of change. For example, in the story of the rape of Europa, Jove changes from his divine form to a bull in order to seduce the maiden Europa more easily. The story of Pygmalion, from Book 10 of the Metamorphoses, was as popular to the Middle Ages as it has continued to be in our own time:
. . .
With Ovid, thinkers of the Middle Ages were forced to wrestle with the problem of whether stories that were obviously not literally true were dangerous or whether they were valuable. Could the story of Pygmalion, let alone the stories of Jove and his amorous adventures, hold anything of value for a medieval Christian? Although Ovid, and other writers of imaginative literature as well, were regarded in some quarters as highly suspect, they were defended by the concept of the ‘beautiful lie,’ the idea that a poet weaves an outer coat that, however fanciful, covers an inner truth. False stories could teach true doctrine. Though the debate itself continued throughout the Middle Ages, the defense allowed imaginative literature to be written and enjoyed in the Middle Ages. When a story such as Pygmalion was retold in the Middle Ages –as it was at the end of the long allegorical poem called the Romance of the Rose –c.1285)—it was often utilized for purposes quite different from the original. Sometimes the stories were moralized and given explicitly Christina meanings; sometimes they were given contemporary applications by writers who saw in them meaning for their own time, just as Ovid himself told stories and legends that originally came from the Greeks and made them applicable to his age. Although writers felt free to make these stories their own, and the purpose of the stories might have been changed, an awareness of the basic stories of classical mythology themselves was simply assumed to poets in the Middle Ages (and beyond at least as far as the nineteenth century); authors such as Jean de Meun (author of the second part of the Romance of the Rose), Dante, and Chaucer drew freely from Ovid in their own poetry. Ovid’s work, like Vergil’s, was also the subject of allegorical commentaries.(pp.41-43)
Historical writing was also considered literature in the Middle Age, and like the other literary genres, the writers of medieval history used the language
and themes of Roman historical writing.
. . . history was perceived as a branch of ethics whose purpose was to teach moral lessons and to provide positive and negative exemplars. The tendency of modern historians
to avoid moral judgments and not to assign praise or blame would have been totally foreign to medieval writers of history as well as to ancient writers…. Furthermore, ethics
was considered to be a part of the study of rhetoric in ancient Rome and the Middle Ages. Thus, literary conventions of history did not encourage simple narrative of literal truth
but rather allowed and encouraged some rearrangement and embellishment of the facts in order to make the moral clear. These elements of ancient historiography combined
with elements of biblical historical writing in the Middle Ages to allow for exaggeration and distortion of the facts (as contemporary historians perceive them). Because
of our modern, more ‘scientific’ and ‘objective’ view of history, many nineteenth-and twentieth-century writers have tended to disparage medieval historical writings; only if
we recognize the purposes and conventions of those texts, can we appreciate the greatness of someone like the Venerable Bede or Geoffrey of Monmouth.
A second legacy from Rome to the medieval world was its law.
Although the Greeks had theorized extensively about the nature of law, the science of jurisprudence was really invented during the growing complexity of the late Roman Republic. One of the products of this new science was a carefully defined concept of the state. Furthermore, philosophers of the same period, borrowing from the Greeks, developed a highly sophisticated theory of natural law. During the period of the Roman Empire, the largest and most complex state that had yet existed, it was necessary that the numerous laws of the Empire be codified, that is, ordered and organized so that they could be a unifying factor in an empire that stretched from the Irish Sea to the Persian Gulf. Ironically, the greatest law codes were compiled as the Empire was breaking up. Ultimately, the most important codification of Roman law occurred after the fall of the Empire in the West. Commissioned by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian (r. 527-565), it remained the basis of Byzantine law for almost a thousand years. This code contained not only a great number of laws but also commentaries on the law by the greatest Roman jurists. For several centuries the Justinian Code was unknown in the West, although the less complete fifth-century Theodosian Code was used extensively by early medieval kings. In the twelfth century, the Code of Justinian was rediscovered in the West. From that time on, emperors quoted directly from it in objecting to ecclesiastical authority; kings used it as a model for constructing their own legal systems; church lawyers were inspired to codify the law of the Church, the canon law. Much of the language of early parliamentary documents in England and elsewhere was drawn from Roman law; even the common law system in England owes much more to Roman law than has sometimes been acknowledged. The medieval dependence on Roman law is an important legacy of the Middle Ages to modern times; in the nineteenth century, the Justinian Code was used as a model both in Europe and America.(pp.43-45)
The idea of empire was a third legacy from Rome.
Rome was neither the first power to have a large empire nor the fist to consider the benefits of a world governed from one center. Alexander the Great had conquered much of the world and had talked of the universal brotherhood of man. However it was the Romans who built on this notion and who passed it on. And most important, it was the Romans who institutionalized it. Alexander’s empire was his personal conquest; when he died the empire was divided. The Romans ruled a vast empire from the late republican period (first century B.C.) until the disintegration of the Empire in the West (in the fifth century A.
D.) Thus an idea was combined with a process of institutionalization. The Romans in fact considered ruling as their chief skill and as their destiny. The ideal of Rome as ruler is nowhere better exemplified than in Book 6 of Vergil’s Aeneid. Consider what Aeneas’s father says to his son during the visit to the underworld, when Aeneas comes to learn his own destiny and hence the destiny of Rome:
‘Others, for so I can well believe, shall hammer forth more delicately a breathing likeness out of bronze, coax living faces from marble, plead causes with more skill, plot with their gauge the movement of the sky, and tell the rising of the constellations. But you, Rome, must remember that you have to guide the nations by your authority, for this is to be your skill, to graft tradition onto peace, to show mercy to the conquered, and to wage war until the haughty are brought low.’
This is of course more a statement of the ideal of Rome rule than its reality, but it was a passage known, quoted, and believed in rthe Middle Ages, an idal that no one was ready to dismiss lightly.
The concept of empire far outlived the reality of a unified Mediterranean world. In the East, the Byzantine emperors in Constantinople regarded themselves as the heirs of the Empire; seeing their city as a new (and Christian) Rome. However with the rise of Charlemagne, the Empire was reconstituted in the West into what is called the Holy Roman Empire. It appeared for a time that the emperors in the West who succeeded Charlemagne would continue to be rulers in fact as well as in theory, but this did not come to be. However, long after the Empire ceased to be the most important political power in Western Europe, people still looked to the emperor as the de jure head of the West. Dante placed his hopes in the reestablishment of the Empire’s authority in the West in his treatise De Monarchia, written sometime after 1300; in the Inferno, he placed Brutus and Cassius on either side of Judas at the bottom of hell because they had assassinated the first emperor, Julius Caesar, and thus had tried to subvert Rome’s destiny to rule. In the middle of the fourteenth centry, long after the emperors had ceased to be a major political factor, a famous fresco by the painter Andrea de Firenze depicted the emperor as the highest political authority in the West. The actual boundaries of the Holy Roman Empire changed often in the Middle Ages, but the Empire lasted in some form until 1806. In the East, after the fall of Constantinople in 1453, the rulers in Moscow claimed to be heirs of the Roman imperial tradition and saw Moscow as the third Rome; they evenr took the title of the emperors –caesar, or in Russian, czar.(pp.45-48)
A fourth legacy from Rome to the Middle Ages was the Latin language.
Latin remained a living language throughout the Middle Ages, an area in which scholars simply took for granted a continuity with the classical past. Indeed, Latin served as the international language of the Middle Ages. It was the language of the Church and thus of virtually all religious writing, including the liturgy. It was the language of the universities and the schools, and thus of all philosophical writing. (In the later Middle Ages, students in the Oxford colleges were fined if they were caught speaking anything but Latin within he college precincts.) It was the language of literature, at least until the late Middle Ages when there was a shift to the vernacular languages –Jean de Meun wrote in French, Dante in Italian, Chaucer in English. Though learned by imitation for models of Roman prose and poetry, Latin continued to change throughout the Middle Ages. Vocabulary changed as many Germanic words were incorporated into the language, and style, syntax, and grammar changed as well. (The influence, moreover, was reciprocal; Latin style, syntax, and vocabulary also influenced the vernacular languages.) Yet these very changes were a sign of the vitality of the language, allowing for the expression of what was most highly unique and original in medieval culture, from early Christian hymns up to the writings of Thomas Aquinas. As in so many areas, medieval people borrowed language from classical antiquity but adapted it to their own needs. It can be argued that it was the revival of classical Latin as the ideal in the Renaissance that gradually turned Latin into an artificial language. In trying to eliminate all postclassical accretions and imitate Cicero directly in their own writings (rather than learning from Cicero), Renaissance humanists in fact contributed to its demise.(pp.48)
By way of
conclusion of this chapter on the classical heritage in the Middle Ages, the
authors, Cook and Herzman –the former professor of
history; the latter Professor of literature; both at State University of New
York, Geneose-- have aligned their facts and
interpretations leading to the conclusion that we in the modern world “stand on
the shoulders of giants.” A different lesson can be drawn from this cultural
history of medieval Europe, namely that “the past weighs like the Alps on the
shoulders of the living.”

“My Take On
RFK Jr. Saying He "Supports Vaccines" and Operation Warp Speed Was
Brilliant, etc.”
by Celia Farber
Many have written and called me, I’ve
been in several conversations, and yes, I heard it. I watched both hearings. I
want to tell you what I think. Or, for now, what I think I think.
I know what Robert F. Kennedy thinks about vaccines
and what he knows about vaccines, and so do you all. If anybody needs to be
reminded, there are 1000 podcast interviews out there, including the biggest
one on the planet—The Joe Rogan Experience.
My take may anger some and I may go hide in a gin mill
tomorrow rather than face our comments section, but here goes:
I see Bobby’s Senate incantations “I support
vaccines,” as mere empty, blank rhetoric offered up to a bunch of sub-literate,
over-vaccinated ghouls about to have strokes on the Senate floor. You could say
anything to these people, and they would deserve it. They deserve counterfeit,
which is what they are. Their entire language is a counterfeit of real
language.
Bobby’s strange utterances, belying all he knows and
believes and and risked his life for, did not make me
angry or feel betrayed. The more I think about it, the more I think it could
even be taken as a form of absurdist theater, or
comedy.
Something out of Bulgakov.
Something he tosses them to get them away from him.
They are the kind of people who don’t care what anybody thinks—they want to
hear their mantras spoken. Just spoken. Just repeated.
I find myself at 2:30 am, close to laughing, even,
thinking about Bobby uttering these words, after the last 20 years of his life,
his well documented death battle with the vaccine cultists. I sort of think he said it to deny them his actual thoughts and just
start tossing Pharma-ghoul biscuits. Isn’t that
freedom, of a kind?
You will accuse me of being an apologist, a
pragmatist, or worse, but I even see a rare humor in it.
It’s all they deserve—empty phrases, their core
mantras, repeated back, since they’re idiots, in trances, and just need to hear
those words— in order not to have strokes, in order to thump and scream for
their paymasters and handlers.

Palestine – January 30, 2025
Dear friends,
I write from the West Bank in Palestine, where it feels like a storm is coming.
Since the ceasefire, there are more and more roadblocks, Israeli settlers have attacked Palestinian homes, and raids happen around the clock.
The Israeli government is tightening its grip around our necks -- as Trump applauds from the White House.
They don’t want Palestinians meeting to help each other, sharing ideas, or talking about freedom. They want us scared, silent, and divided, with no hope for peace or justice. Community organising is practically banned.
But we're not giving up. Across the West Bank, Palestinians are gathering in secret. In kitchens, classrooms, and living rooms we're holding what we call "freedom meetings." Where people can come together, provide support, and rebuild the community bonds that war and occupation have shattered.
Thanks to Avaaz members, this movement is beginning to grow. But the risks are immense. Our organisers and volunteers face danger every day from checkpoints and army patrols. Still, they keep going because these meetings are the first step to something bigger -- a people’s movement for freedom.
Now, we need your help to reach thousands more. If you share our dream of a free Palestine, then please support our community work today. Donate what you can now:

“Israel’s “Fake Ceasefire”. A ‘Pause’. Genocide, Exodus of Palestinians from their Homeland”
by Prof Michel Chossudovsky
A cease fire invariably constitutes a first step towards a peace agreement. In the case of Gaza, the objective is “a pause” in what constitutes a carefully planned genocide of which the “End Game:” is the Exodus of Palestinians from their Homeland. US-NATO are indelibly behind the genocide project. President Trump has pressured both Jordan and Egypt to facilitate the immigration of Palestinians.
From a propaganda standpoint the cease-fire’s intent is to mislead public opinion.
Gaza is almost fully destroyed. The atrocities and loss of life are beyond description. Estimates which remain to be corroborated suggest that up a quarter of Gaza’s population have died.
The Cease fire is not intended to lead to a peace agreement. Quite the opposite.
Already Israel is accusing Hamas of having violated the cease-fire.

by Melvin Goodman
“I am convinced that Bibi understands…that by significantly weakening Hezbollah and Iran, he has helped set in motion the possibility for Lebanon and Syria to restore their sovereignty and unity. I think he is ready to complete Israel’s withdrawal [from Lebanon] and finalize the border….”
– Thomas Friedman, “How Trump Can Remake the Middle East,” New York Times, January 21, 2025
Thomas Friedman, the New York Times’ most influential columnist, has comprehensively recorded his dreamscape for the Middle East. It tells Donald Trump that “you have a chance to reshape this region in ways that could fundamentally enhance the peace and prosperity of Israelis, Palestinians and all the region’s people, as well as the national security interests of America.” Friedman believes that Benjamin Netanyahu is “ready to complete Israel’s withdrawal and finalize the border” with Lebanon, and that the United States has an “enormous opportunity to truly end the civil war [in Lebanon] and put the country back together.” Finally, he produces a threat: Iran’s nuclear program and malign regional strategy need to be eliminated, and if Trump can’t do this through “peaceful negotiations,” it needs to be “done kinetically.” That’s right: Friedman is willing to commit the United States to a war against Iran.
Friedman’s dreamscape for the Middle East makes no sense on any level. Even former secretary of state Antony Blinken eventually recognized that Israel has “systematically undermined the capacity and legitimacy of the only viable alternative to Hamas, the Palestinian Authority.” What has happened to Friedman’s concerns about Netanyahu have no political solutions for Gaza on the “Day After” the fighting stopped.
Israel is expanding official settlements and nationalizing land on the West Bank at a “faster clip than at any time in the last decade, while turning a blind eye to an unprecedented growth in illegal outposts,” according to Blinken. The attacks by extremist settlers on Palestinians, moreover, “have reached record levels.” Friedman believes that the Jewish supremacists in Netanyahu’s cabinet are responsible for this aggression, but significant evidence points to Netanyahu himself as supporting these actions.

“Ali Abunimah, Palestine’s “Catch-22” and Switzerland’s Violation of Due Process”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/ali-abunimah-switzerland-violation-due-process/5878403
by Rima Najjar
“Award-winning Palestinian-American journalist and human rights defender Ali Abunimah, executive director of the media platform ‘Electronic Intifada,’ was violently and forcibly taken by unidentified individuals in civilian clothing while walking on the streets of Zurich on Saturday 25th January 2025. He is now held in administrative detention by the Zurich cantonal police who intend to deport him out of the country on Monday.
He was on his way to give a lecture on the history of Palestine, after another event he was going to deliver the following day was cancelled due to external pressure, following a defamatory article in a local newspaper baselessly accusing him of radical islamism and antisemitism. The cantonal police supposedly obtained a prohibition for him to enter the territory once he was already in the country, a decision which was not subjected to any legal review. Ali Abunimah was brutally abducted in violation of due process.”
Let me say at the outset that I believe the appalling arrest of Ali Abunimah in Zurich (during which he was accosted violently and brutally) will do nothing except raise Ali Abunimah’s profile and increase donations to his publication. It will also probably result in a very interesting and important report that everyone is already awaiting — everyone, that is, who is familiar with Ali Abunimah’s writing and his decades-long activism for Palestinian liberation on American campuses and knows these accusations are not simply false, they are ludicrous.

“Swiss official who jailed journalist Ali Abunimah is fanatical pro-Israel activist”
by Wyatt Reed
Mario Fehr, the Swiss security official who ordered the arrest of Ali Abunimah, is a rabidly pro-Zionist politician who falsely branded the Palestinian American journalist as “an Islamist Jew-hater.” In the past, Fehr has taken pride in banning Palestine solidarity demonstrations.
The Swiss official who ordered the arrest of renowned Palestinian-American journalist Ali Abunimah justified doing so on the false and defamatory basis that Abunimah is “an Islamist Jew-hater.” Mario Fehr, the head of Zurich’s Department of Security, made the bogus accusation in a recent comment to the Swiss publication NZZ, which also falsely characterized Abunimah as an “Islamist” and an “extremist.”
Swiss authorities detained Abunimah on Jan. 25, after they initially allowed him entry into Switzerland following an hour-long interrogation. Abunimah was deported on Jan. 27 after two nights, during which Swiss officials refused to tell him whether he was being charged with a crime. According to the Swiss newspaper NZZ, officers in Zurich successfully petitioned federal police for an arrest warrant after realizing Abunimah had travelled to the country in order to deliver a speech at an event organized by the Zurich Palestine Committee. Fehr explained the arrest by stating, in reference to self-described “non-religious person” Ali Abunimah: “We do not want an Islamist Jew-hater who calls for violence in Switzerland.”
It’s unclear how Fehr came to adopt this patently false claim, but the article in NZZ gives a hint. In painting the secular Abunimah as a jihadist, the story’s authors relied on a leader of a little-known group called “Never Again Is Now,” (NAIN) which characterizes itself as “the only non-profit organization in Switzerland dedicated exclusively to combating antisemitism,” says it “demands the uncompromising enforcement of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism,” and claims: “we… defend Israel against anti-Zionist agendas.”

“The most asymmetric of conflicts: Why the fight for Palestine is ours”
by Soumaya Ghannoushi, Middle East Eye
To stand with Palestine is to stand against the machinery of oppression, to reject the structures that perpetuate imperialism and domination, and to affirm the sacred values of humanity itself.
Last week, US President Donald Trump returned to the Capitol as president, his ascent staged as a spectacle of defiance and power.
Draped in theatrics and bombast, Trump spoke of a renewed American "manifest destiny". This time, the promise extended beyond Earth to the stars. Colonising Mars, he declared, was the next great chapter in America’s mythology of conquest.
Yet, his ambitions for expansion had already revealed themselves on Earth. He floated the idea of purchasing Greenland, mused about annexing Canada, and invoked the Panama Canal as a symbol of US dominance. Whether aimed at land, trade routes, or planets, Trump’s imperialist vision reflects a fixation on control, cloaked in the language of exceptionalism.
Beneath the polished bravado and lofty proclamations lay the shadow of history.
Manifest destiny is a doctrine written in blood. It justified the genocide of millions of Native Americans, the theft of their lands, and the obliteration of their cultures. It cloaked destruction as progress, a weapon of empire masquerading as inevitability. And now, Trump seeks to resurrect that same ethos, updated for the modern age and aimed not just at the stars, but at every frontier he deems ripe for domination.

“‘Banality of evil’: Artist turns Gaza settler dream into disturbing installation”
by By Joe Gill
Gil Mualem-Doron's fake ads for villas in Gaza are actually based on a real Israeli estate agent advertising property on Gaza's beachfront.
A couple walk up to the display window of a glass shopfront sandwiched between two estate agents in central Hove on England’s south coast and look at window ads for properties for sale - and then, the penny drops.
The posters show a villa under construction in what appears to be the devastated Gaza war zone. Something is not right.
The cognitive jolt from the experience - visible on their faces - is a result of the politically charged artwork called Villa in the Jungle - A Real A-State Agent by British-Israeli artist Gil Mualem-Doron.
Inside the shop, which is run by a local campaign group, are several installations and art exhibitions spread across three rooms.
Mualem-Doron’s work in Hove consists of a short film called Living the Dream and a separate installation featuring miniature villas on wooden plinths, a gold spray-painted log and broken Victorian tiles imprinted with Arabic mosaics scattered on the floor.

“Israel ignores WHO appeals and attacks another hospital in northern Gaza”
https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/gaza-war-israel-attacks-areas-near-indonesian-hospital
by Ahmed Dremly in Gaza, occupied Palestine and Lubna Masarwa in Jerusalem
The Indonesian hospital has been out of service for weeks due to ongoing Israeli attacks.
Israel ignored pleas from the World Health Organization (WHO) to stop attacking medical facilities in northern Gaza, with a medical worker telling Middle East Eye on Thursday that heavy shelling and gunfire from unmanned quadcopters was taking place in the direction of the war-battered Indonesian Hospital.
Dr Rawia Tambour told MEE that Israeli forces were firing heavy artillery shells in the vicinity of the facility in Beit Lahia, while quadcopters shot at anything that moved.
"Israeli military vehicles are advancing towards the hospital," Tambour said in an audio message, as the sounds of blasts echoed in the background.
The Indonesian Hospital, one the biggest health facilities in northern Gaza, has been out of service for weeks due to ongoing Israeli attacks and a debilitating siege put in place since early October.
Earlier this week, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of the WHO, called on Israel to cease its attacks on Gaza's beleaguered hospitals and medical centres and offer a brief reprieve to exhausted Palestinians.

“'Reversing the Nakba': Images of Palestinian homecoming in Gaza spark hope online”
by Maysa Mustafa
Descendants of Palestinians who were expelled during Nakba react to 'first return' in Palestinian history.
As thousands of Palestinians return to their homes - or, for many, the rubble of what used to be their homes - many in the diaspora have taken to social media this week with their reactions to the images of the first mass Palestinian homecoming since the Nakba in 1948.
According to the Gaza health ministry, around 650,000 displaced people in the central and southern Gaza Strip will return to their homes in the north after 15 months of Israel's war on the enclave.
More than 47,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 2023, with the majority being women and children. Thousands more are believed to be buried under the ruins of buildings destroyed by Israel.
Videos of Palestinians flooding al-Rashid Street - which crosses the Netzarim corridor towards the north of the enclave - have been circulating on all social media platforms, with many people commenting on the historical meaning of the moment: "the first return in Palestinian history to the homeland," one person wrote on X.

“Chinese Military Might vs Washington’s Asymmetrical Tools of Empire”
by Brian Berletic
Over the past few months China has achieved several breakthroughs in terms of military power in both quantity and quality including the introduction of new aircraft, increased production rates of existing aircraft, and the launching of a new amphibious assault ship proposed as recently as 2020, demonstrating a rapid progression from drawing board to dockside all within China’s already vast shipbuilding capacity.
The implications of these recent developments impact ongoing US encroachment in the Asia-Pacific and the looming prospect of an Ukraine-style war the US appears eager to launch against China. However, just as the US has demonstrated elsewhere, what it lacks in military and industrial power, it makes up for in political influence and its asymmetrical capacity to destabilize and destroy entire regions of the planet.
China’s Expanding Air Force
At the Zhuhai Airshow in November 2024, China unveiled its twin-engine Shenyang J-35 fifth-generation fighter. Defense News would note that the J-35’s introduction together with the mass-produced Chengdu J-20 makes China only the second nation in the world to field two types of fifth-generation warplanes besides the US with its F-22 and F-35 fighters.
While many attempts have been made to dismiss China’s fifth-generation warplanes as cheap copies of American warplanes, both the J-35 and J-20 represent entirely different designs fulfilling entirely different requirements, and mass-produced with flexible and rapidly updated manufacturing techniques quickly closing the fifth-generation fighter gap with the US.
Not only does this mean China will possess at least as many fighter planes as the US, it also means China will be able to rapidly replace lost aircraft in the event of any peer or near-peer conflict, including with the United States.
In 2022, South China Morning Post reported that China was speeding up production of its J-20 warplane, often seen as China’s answer to the US F-22. At the time, it was estimated China had produced up to 200 J-20s, a comparable number to the current number of F-22s the US operates.
By 2024, Air & Space Forces Magazine would report that China may be building up to 100 J-20 airframes per year – all of which are for use by China’s armed forces. While the US produces 135 F-35s a year (with 1,000 produced in total), most of these aircraft are for export to US allies. Because Chinese production of the J-20 has increased since its introduction, it cannot be ruled out that China will continue producing these aircraft at an accelerated rate.
With the introduction of the J-35 last November, a similar production rate may follow.
US airpower has been the central factor in upholding US and Western military supremacy since the end of the Cold War. More recently, the impact of Western military aviation has been blunted by the proliferation of advanced air defense systems, a field the US and Europe neglected throughout the Cold War and has fallen even further far behind since.
China possesses one of the largest and most advanced integrated air defense networks in the world, including proven Russian air defense systems as well as indigenous systems based on proven Russian designs.
Together with China’s expanding fleet of warplanes, China is gradually establishing a two-fold advantage within and along China’s borders and shores. While the US still has a larger air force than China, it should be noted that US warplanes are dispersed across the planet among the hundreds of military bases the US maintains stretching from the US itself, across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and of course, the Asia-Pacific.
It is unrealistic for the US to concentrate all of its warplanes in any potential conflict with China without conceding military domination elsewhere around the globe. Likewise, deeply investing in conflicts against Russia or Iran directly means expending limited warplanes and munitions the US wants to preserve for potential conflict with China.
China’s Expanding Navy
The US government and arms industry-funded Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) published a June 2024 article titled, “Unpacking China’s Naval Buildup.” In it, CSIS admits China’s large and growing advantage in terms of shipbuilding while also acknowledging a growing crisis across what remains of American shipbuilding capacity.
It admits that, “the decline of U.S. naval dominance will be difficult to reverse,” admitting that it constitutes a process that has “spanned decades” and “rests on slow-moving economic and industrial trends.”
It paradoxically concludes that:
“…the United States can still maintain superiority by investing in smaller surface combatants like corvettes, frigates, and unmanned naval systems paired with alternative platforms like aircraft or ground-based missile launchers; deepening its partnerships with Pacific nations like Japan and South Korea; and investing more in its domestic shipbuilding industry—particularly the highly specialized submarine industrial base.”
However, China is likely just as capable of outproducing the US in terms of smaller vessels, unmanned systems, aircraft, and missiles as it is in terms of larger warships.
Beyond just quality and quantity, China’s ability to rapidly design, build, and launch warships at rates many times faster than the US lends an additional advantage to China.
Its most recent Type 076 amphibious assault ship was proposed sometime in mid-2020 and launched late last year. In less than 4 years China proposed, designed, and launched a modern amphibious assault ship. It takes the US 6 years just to produce an America class amphibious assault ship – the initial development process having taken up to 7 years.
The same CSIS report admits:
“The United States probably faces insurmountable obstacles to meaningful increases in shipbuilding in the coming decade, but it might be able to reduce China’s advantage through its relationships with Japan and South Korea. These U.S. partners accounted for 26 and 14 percent of global ship deliveries in 2023, respectively. The U.S. Navy plans to repair ships at international shipyards in 2025 on a trial basis, which could reduce the maintenance backlog, but actually constructing U.S. ships using foreign shipbuilders is unlikely due to U.S. legal restrictions. The only long-term answer is probably an industrial strategy that supports the broader U.S. shipbuilding sector for decades.”
Thus, the US is unable to rectify this growing gap. Its strategy depends on “partners” like South Korea and Japan, both hosting US military bases but counting China as their largest and most important trade partner.
Conventional Military Power vs. Asymmetrical Military Power
As the ongoing US proxy war against Russia in Ukraine has demonstrated, the US together with its “partners” are unable to match even Russia’s military industrial production, let alone China’s. . . . .

Biden said the pardons do not acknowledge any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be viewed as an admission of guilt. They cover any nonviolent offense from Jan. 1, 2014, to Sunday.
Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss just why Biden’s siblings would need pardons and the allegations of money laundering, influence peddling and human trafficking against them.

“Dr. Fauci's pardon by Joe Biden won't be worth a pail of ashes when they both lie smoldering in Hell”
by Mark Crispin Miller
Nor will that pardon do him any good if some outraged citizen, bereaved by Fauci's "safe and effective" elixir, should decide to take justice into his/her own hands.
It’s been embarrassingly obvious (to most of us) these past four years that “Joe Biden” wasn’t really President of the United States, since (a) he wasn’t actually elected (the evidence is overwhelming), and, for the most part, (b) he was patently demented—spouting gibberish, wandering off stage, dozing off in public, falling up and down the stairs, and—I really hate to write this—letting out “a long, loud fart” during a tete-a-tete with the Duchess of Cornwall. So blatant was his incapacity that most of us had to wonder: If he can’t even board a plane, or read a TelePrompter, how can he be making all those Big Decisions hailed as genius by the likes of Joe Scarborough and Sunny Hostin? In short, he wasn’t ever really there; so who was making “his” decisions as the president? Was it “Dr.” Jill? Obama? a posse of “woke” staffers? Xi Jinping?
Some day (if we last long enough) we should know more about the inner workings of the White House “under” Biden. For now, let’s entertain the possibility suggested in the photograph above, taken while COVID-19 was still (literally) all the rage, with “Biden” now ostensibly in charge of the US “response.” If you’ve seen any other presidential images like this one, please let me know, as it strikes this observer as the weirdest tableau ever loosed upon us by the White House.

“Is there a connection between Covid19, biological-genetical warfare, the mRNA technology, and mass migration?”
https://fulgurite4779.substack.com/p/is-there-a-connection-between-covid19
by Ful Gurite
This thought already occurred to me a couple of years ago, but so far I have been vert hesitant to write it down, simply because it might be too outrageous for most people. So far I haven’t seen anyone who has made a similar connection between Covid19, mRNA ‘vaccines’ and mass migration, and most likely this is for a good reason.
Nevertheless I want to get this off my chest, and who knows, learn something in the meantime so here we go..
My thesis originates from a bunch of seemingly random thoughts and ideas that were thrown around on social media, the mainstream media, and my own life experience.
When the ‘pandemic’ started in 2020 I initially followed the ‘script’ and I admit that I was worried. I found out relatively early in January 2020 that ‘something was happening in Wuhan China’ from people that were mostly specialised in economic reporting, for example Christ Martinson, Erik Townsend and a few economic blogs. I told my mom to stock up on food and disinfectant, and I went shopping to a DIY store for a few KN95/FFP2 masks. I was living in Germany at that time in an apartment building that housed many relatively old people and I remember fearing that perhaps many of my neighbours were going to die. However, by end March/early April 2020 I started to realise that this was definitely not the pandemic that was ‘promised’ to us by the mainstream media.
I worked shifts in the aerospace industry for a satellite company, and many contingency plans were made to make sure that shifts were covered in case colleagues would get sick and be quarantined. Some colleagues were specialised in certain satellites, which made a possible hospitalisation or quarantine of these colleagues even more critical. As a result, the company started a massive undertaking to diversify the qualifications, thus trying to reduce the impact that one sick person might have on the entire company.
A previously career path, also in the aerospace business which allowed me to do very extensive traveling, gave me an diverse network of friends and acquaintances spread across the globe who all started giving me feedback of very similar ‘measures’ that were taken in order to combat the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Everywhere around the world we saw the same picture: lockdowns, masks, QR codes, and later, huge pressure to get vaccinated with a fast-tracked and mostly experimental vaccine.
By the end of 2020 the world had been indoctrinated into wearing masks, using QR codes, doing PCR testing, and believing that a vaccine would be the only viable strategy out of this ‘pandemic.’ By that time In had become a full-blown skeptic and rebel . Nobody in my apartment building had died or even gotten severely sick (proponents will of course claim that this was “due to the measures”), yet “cases” were skyrocketing supposedly (by those same COVID19-measures-proponents) “due to people ignoring the measures.”
Once the initial shock had worn off, it was crystal clear that ‘things were not quite adding up’ and that some kind of huge fraud and psychological operation (PsyOp) was unfolding, but it seems most people were too caught up in the fear mongering to notice or to wake up. So much for the background to COVID19.
Now let’s go back a few years and look at some headlines about (alleged) biological or chemical warfare. Mind you, I am not passing judgement here about who did what, I merely remember that these stories were making headlines all over the world;
· Does anybody remember the story of the alleged poisoning of Ukrainian president Viktor Yushchenko in 2004?
· Does anybody remember the story of the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko in 2006, supposedly by Polonium 210?
· Does anybody remember the 2017 story of how allegedly “foreign agents are collecting DNA samples from Russians of different ethnicities and sending the data abroad for scientific analysis?”
· Does anybody remember the story of the alleged poisoning of the Skripals, supposedly by “Russian agents” using Novichok in March 2018?
· Does anybody remember the 2019 story of how a heritage site was sharing DNA samples with the FBI, and how questionable it is to give your own DNA samples to companies that (supposedly) specialise in constructing your genetic family tree? What happens to your DNA data when a company goes bankrupt as what might happen to 23andMe?
· Does anybody remember the story of the still unfolding mystery of how the United States EcoHealth Alliance and DARPA were (allegedly!) funding Gain-of -Function. research at the Wuhan biological laboratory from which (allegedly!) the SARS-CoV-2 virus escaped?
· Does anybody remember the story of the alleged poising of former Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili in 2022?
· Does anybody remember the March 2022 story of how US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland accidentally revealed that the United States military was allegedly running a large number of biological warfare laboratories in Ukraine?
We can deduce a few things from the above headlines;
1. clearly an anti-Russian sentiment was being stoked.
2. among the world’s major economical and military powers, there seems to be a worldwide quest for DNA data.
3. using the anti-Russian sentiment in #1 as cover, it seems as if the United States is most probably funding a large number of biological warfare laboratories around the world, most notably in Wuhan China and at numerous locations in Ukraine.
4. before, during and after the COVID19 ‘pandemic’ the public was/is clearly being conditioned with stories about biological and chemical warfare.
So let’s delve a little bit into biological and genetical warfare. . . . .

“The History and Therapeutic Mechanisms Of Chlorine Dioxide”
by Pierre Kory, MD, MPA
Chlorine dioxide was discovered over 200 years ago. It's use has steadily expanded into many industries and therapeutic applications despite a near global regulatory blockade on clinical research.
I believe that my writings on chlorine dioxide are the most important (and the most dangerous) work I have yet done on Substack. Although several experts have written extensively on this topic previously (here, here, and here), this similar effort of mine simply results from my wish to become as knowledgeable as possible about this critically important therapeutic (there is no better way to do so than personally researching and writing about a topic).
This is the 3rd in my ongoing series of posts. In the first two I presented the political context in which chlorine dioxide has been attacked during Covid (“Trump’s Bleach Conference”) and in the 2nd post I detailed the success achieved by Bolivia’s national chlorine dioxide program against Covid.
In this post I will review its discovery, chemical properties, industrial applications, and therapeutic mechanisms. Upcoming posts will cover the history of the attacks faced by the pioneering researchers and practitioners, followed by a review of the safety studies of oral ingestion and a compilation of studies showing efficacy in a number of diseases. Be sure to subscribe so as not to miss out on these critical upcoming posts.

The probe found that “dozens of Israeli civilians, some of them masked, arrived at night al-Funduq area… set fire to property and caused damage”. Meanwhile, Trump said he is not confident a ceasefire deal in Gaza would hold, despite claiming that his diplomacy secured the agreement ahead of his inauguration.

(42:08)
The ceasefire that took effect this month brought an end to Israel’s horrific massacres that claimed dozens and sometimes hundreds of lives of men, women and children in Gaza every day over the last 15 months.
The official death toll of Israel’s genocide of 46,000 is widely considered a gross undercount, and already as people return to the ruins of their homes, they are finding the remains of loved ones whose fate had been unknown.
The ceasefire agreement and the announcements of various governments involved in mediating it are silent about the question of accountability for Israeli crimes, whose scale and savagery is difficult to comprehend and may not be fully uncovered for years.
One organization that does take justice for the victims of Israel’s genocide in Gaza seriously is The Hind Rajab Foundation. It uses offensive litigation to hold responsible those involved in atrocities of violence against Palestinians.
We speak with co-founder Dyab Abou Jahjah, a Belgian-Lebanese political activist and writer, about the effort to pursue Israeli perpetrators of genocide and bring them to justice wherever they are.

NATO’s War on Yugoslavia: Kosovo “Freedom Fighters” Financed by Organized Crime”
by Prof Michel Chossudovsky
Almost Twenty-five years ago, marks the beginning of
NATO’s aerial bombardment of Yugoslavia (March 24, 1999- June 10, 1999). The
bombings which lasted for almost three months, were followed by the military
invasion (under a bogus UN mandate) and illegal occupation of the province of Kosovo.
21 years later on April 24, 2020, the leader of the
Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) Hashim Thaci who in the wake of the NATO-led war had become “Prime
Minister” and subsequently “President” of Kosovo was indicted for crimes
against humanity.
The Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor’s Office At The Hague
filed an indictment against Hashim Thaci on April 24, 2020 ” for a range of crimes against
humanity and war crimes, including murder, enforced disappearance of persons,
persecution, and torture.”
According to prosecutor Jack Smith, Thaci and his close allies “put their personal interests
ahead of the victims of their crimes, the rule of law, and all people of
Kosovo”.
Nonsense: It took them 21 years to acknowledge the crimes committed
by the KLA.
Those crimes were ordered by US-NATO. Hacim Thaci was and remains a
US-NATO proxy. The KLA was supported by the CIA and Germany’s BND (Bundes Nachrichten Dienst).
In 1999 Thaci was on the
Interpol list. The KLA was also supported by Al Qaeda.

One of the decisions that is almost certain to have geopolitical consequences is the suspension of all foreign “aid” for 90 days.
According to this executive order, the “assistance programs” will be reviewed by Trump’s staff in the next three months, after which final decisions will be made on whether these are in line with his foreign policy framework. In effect, this means that Trump wants to “give time” to both Russia and the Kiev regime to find common ground on a possible ceasefire.

l’hypothèse d’une fuite de laboratoire, rapporte The New York Times.
ville.”

“CIA now backs lab leak theory to explain origins of Covid-19”
by The Guardian
Analysis released by new director, John Ratcliffe, suggests the agency believes totality of evidence makes a lab origin.
The CIA now believes the virus responsible for the coronavirus pandemic most likely originated from a laboratory, according to an assessment released on Saturday that points the finger at China even while acknowledging that the spy agency has “low confidence” in its own conclusion.
The finding is not the result of any new intelligence, and the report was completed at the behest of the Biden administration and former CIA director William Burns. It was declassified and released on Saturday on the orders of president Donald Trump’s pick to lead the agency, John Ratcliffe, who was sworn in as director on Thursday.
The nuanced finding suggests the agency believes the totality of evidence makes a lab origin more likely than a natural origin. But the agency’s assessment assigns a low degree of confidence to this conclusion, suggesting the evidence is deficient, inconclusive or contradictory.

Wuhan Lab Upheld as Source of COVID-19_ China as a Target. Corrupt Political Circus on Behalf of Super-Rich-1.pdf
https://www.globalresearch.ca/comments-wuhan-source-covid-19/5747144
Global Research article- June 7, 2021
| 1
The commercial media is full of reports about the possibility that the COVID19 virus was
released from a laboratory in Wuhan, China and the Republican Party is using this unfounded
accusation as a means to further its anti-China agenda.
Donald Trump claimed credit recently for having identified China as the source of the virus
and he demanded of 10 trillion dollars in compensation.
The Biden administration has demanded an investigation of the Wuhan labs so as to fend off
this Republican assault, but since he has put opaque pay-to-play intelligence organizations in
charge, and not established accountable international research teams, he guarantees that we
will receive a politicized and meaningless report.
The entire circus is intended to distract the population as long as possible from the true
origins of this crisis: the bid of a handful of the super-rich to employ a hyped up “virus”
pandemic as a means to gut the government, the medical establishment, research institutes
and the media permanently and to create a brave new world in which the “facts” that serve
as the basis for policy decisions are decided in secret by them with no accountability to
anyone. They now can make up figures for how many suffer from COVID19 at will and no one
can prove them wrong in any media source that most citizens know about.
They dictate policy, whether lockdowns, quarantine, masks, or vaccines, in secret and then
order the Congress, the White House, or research institutes and prestigious newspapers, to
follow their mandate. This radical alteration of the landscape of decision making in the United
States is the deadly outcome of the COVID19. It is a shift that, if citizens cannot apprehend
its nature, will be fatal for the nation.
Although it is entirely possible that some of the deaths attributed to COVID19 were the result
of the use of bioweapons (whether those of America, China or other countries). But the media
is not trying to investigate that question at all. Rather the reporting about COVID19, and the
Wuhan Lab, is deeply flawed and aimed primarily at creating hysteria and confusion, and at
dumbing down the population as a whole.
The super-rich have been largely successful in this gambit and they currently they are paying
off approved “experts” to stir up all sorts of pointless debates regarding the source of the
outbreak, the nature of transmission and the proper treatment—anything that points away
from the rich, and the investment banks they control, having played any role in this scam.
Although COVID19 is treated in many academic journals, this virus itself has never been
subject to a rigorous scientific investigation and there is much doubt among scholars that the
illnesses attributed to COVID19 are a result of that specific virus, or any number of other
| 2
viruses, or even other diseases.
The confusion about COVID19 is real. It is not the result of a virus, but rather of deep
corruption in the entire scientific community (globally) so much so that we cannot even
determine the facts. Most all medical research today is funded by corporations tied into Wall
Street at one level at another—whether direct funding of research, or support for the
endowments of research institutions.
The flagrant acceptance by law makers of deeply flawed science, and the criminal manner in
which they facilitate, even encourage, the destruction of the precious lives of children by
unwarranted lockdowns, mask wearing, and social distancing is more than enough reason to
demand that every politician involved in pushing, or repeating, the tale of a COVID19
pandemic resign and face criminal prosecution.
I do not wish to suggest that China was not involved in this bogus pandemic. The Chinese
government, like every other government, has bought into this entirely implausible tale from
the start. Most likely Beijing did so because multinational investment banks and the super-
rich have as great a stranglehold on China as they do on the United States, or France, or
Russia or Japan.
We live in a world unlike what existed three years ago, and unprecedented in human history.
Our first task is to wrap our minds around this fact. The corrupt media and political culture of
the United States cannot possibly help us to understand how our world works.
The point of the recent media coverage in the United States is to set up China as a target, as
the evil one, so as to make this conflict seem to be between nations.
For the super-rich leading this project, sometimes referred to as “the Great Reset” that is
exactly what they want. For their plans, nation states are irrelevant. But they are a create
way to inhibit global cooperation.
The primary conflict behind COVID19 is between classes: between a tiny handful of global
elites and the rest of humanity.
Although the move to pin everything on China is a slight-of-hand trick intended to distract,
and no doubt to secure big classified intelligence budgets, Chinese have also been intimately
involved in the promotion of this COVID19 operation, what we refer to as “the controlled
demolition of the global economy.” There are Chinese super-rich as well who support the
“Great Reset” agenda. Moreover, China has grown its own corrupt military-industrial complex
over the last twenty years that purposely distorts security issues to increase its budgets.
There is only one way out of the COVID19 hall of mirrors. We must recognize, as painful as it
may be to do so, that the entire system of governance in the United States, and most
countries in the world, is now so thoroughly corrupt that it is incapable of assessing the facts
and pursuing a positive, scientific response.
We cannot address the disgusting willingness with which hundreds of medical experts (not
just Bill Gates’ favorite acolyte Anthony Fauci) have stepped forward to back social
distancing, lockdowns, masks and vaccines without the slightest scientific evidence, unless
| 3
we confront another similar tragedy.
We must first go back to the original assault on science in America that took place twenty
years ago and that made this COVID19 pandemic possible.
COVID19 would not have been possible if we had not been subject to an intensive anti-
science campaign after the 9.11 incident.
After the September 11, 2001 “attacks” on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon,
hundreds of scientists stepped forward to assert that it was possible for two skyscrapers,
constructed of steel and reinforced concrete, to collapse into dust simultaneously, after being
hit by two planes.
That argument would not pass in a high school physics class, but Harvard professors, and the
vast majority of public intellectuals, were happy to swallow that tale hook, line and sinker.
It was a moral bankruptcy in America, and a deep corruption of education and science, that
made it possible for millions to accept a ridiculous conspiracy theory as the mainstream
explanation for the 9.11 incident. Should it should surprise us, then, that, twenty years later,
so many are ready to accept an even more ridiculous tale?
When will we start to make progress? When can we move beyond this COVID19 nightmare?
We will only do so when we recognize that the entire system is corrupt to the core and that
we must engage in a revolutionary rebuilding of institutions, of culture and of habits that will
make us ultimately more human, more intellectually rigorous, and also will lead us back to
the values of our Constitution.
