Subject : Like Mice on a Cat Farm, we are all Palestinian-Jews under siege by corporate predator-capitalists whose El Dorado is WAR.

February 27, 2025
Dear Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,
We turn momentarily from our readings in medieval European history to look at Anglophone social media coverage of current events in advanced capitalist society as they affect the lives of ordinary people. The structure and function of social class divisions in the Middle Ages to be sure was different than what we see today, but the devastating effects of social inequalities are not altogether different. As Marx pointed out more than a century ago, we can see something of the anatomy and physiology of a human being when we look at the anatomy and physiology of an ape. Ancestral relationships provide some explanatory information in any comparative study; this cannot be denied.
From my own past, my heady days of high school football provided me with useful analogies of specific status distinctions and how they serve the general status quo. In the stadium, the football players were in competition with the gymnastics of sparsely clothed cheerleaders and at half-time with the music of marching bands. These distractions served a purpose, while together they constituted one event. During the Anti-Vietnam War movement, the appearance of “culture wars,” which included displays of earnest concern with global “overpopulation” and apocalyptic visions of environmental disasters (in addition to the usual bigoted war propaganda advertising racial supremacy) all served as useful distractions from the question: Who profits from this war? The slaughter went on and on, supported by diverting the most rigorous thinking to a plethora of other subjects. Kissinger, by a stroke of evil genius, was able to prolong this lost war four additional years –a murderous accomplishment for the ghastly profit of US corporations. And the cost was worth it ??? After the relentless blitzkrieg of heroic war films and Hollywood brainwashing, many Americans believe the United States has never lost a war.
The 26+ items below reflect on-going discussions occurring in the Anglophone social media in this time of wonton militarism and deep changes occurring in the hybrid capitalist world economy. Our critical cognitive skills to comprehend this changing situation are challenged by new technologies. Sticking our heads in the sand or getting absorbed by cultural fetishes, in the midst of the crises now threatening us, is not a recommended preparation for self-defense (much less for proactive response). The corporate capitalist’s answer to their private-profit-motive crisis is “More War”; our answer to this needless human sacrifice for more inequalities is: “Power to the People!”
Sincerely,
Francis McCollum Feeley

“While Washington Favours Diplomacy with Moscow, the EU Insists on Hostility - Macron Attempts to Boycott Peace Process”

https://www.globalresearch.ca/macron-trying-boycott-peace-process/5880203
by Lucas Leiroz de Almeida
France calls for European meeting to respond to Trump's initiatives.
While Washington is adopting a more diplomatic stance in the conflict with Russia, the European Union is insisting on a hostile policy. French President Emmanuel Macron is reacting quite negatively to the diplomatic advances, trying to consolidate a unified European position on the issue. The French goal is clearly to boycott any peace process, thus trying to prolong the conflict – even if this harms European strategic interests.
Recently, Macron called for an emergency summit of European leaders to discuss the Ukrainian issue. He believes that it is necessary for the EU to show an alternative to the initiatives taken by the US, otherwise European countries will end up being excluded from all the peace talks.
The meeting of the leaders is expected to take place in Paris at the same time as Russian and American diplomats meet in Saudi Arabia. There are not many details available on the subject yet, but it is known that Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski was one of the first to be invited by Macron – which is natural, considering that Poland is one of the countries with the highest military and political involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
It is important to understand the context in which Macron made his decision. While, on the one hand, the US engaged in direct dialogue with Russia and excluded Europe from the process, on the other, the Europeans met at the Munich Security Conference to discuss relevant issues regarding the main geopolitical developments, but failed to reach any fruitful consensus on the issue of peace in Ukraine.
In addition, US special envoy Keith Kellogg categorically stated that the EU will not be included in the peace negotiations, which further aggravated the Europeans’ anger – certainly motivating Macron to call the meeting in Paris. In fact, it seems clear that the EU feels “betrayed” by the US by being excluded from the talks. European states seem desperate to prevent Donald Trump’s initiatives from succeeding, which is why the EU is expected to continue endorsing the war even if the US changes its stance.
All these moves were expected. While Trump has a more realistic and pragmatic stance, most European leaders are aligned with the Democrats’ policies, which are marked by a strong ideological influence. In other words, the Democrats-EU axis is interested in doing everything possible to protect the unipolar liberal order because it is ideologically linked to Western agendas. On the other hand, Trump and the Republicans have a more de-ideologized approach, simply seeking what is best for American strategic interests at the moment.
The main problem in this balance is that Macron has bold ambitions for Europe that clash with current American interests. He does not want the EU to be left out of major geopolitical decisions, hoping that the bloc’s countries will be able to deliberate on what they consider best for themselves and the entire region.
Macron seems not to have understood yet that Europe is suffering the consequences of its own past decisions. The EU chose to be excluded from major international discussions precisely at the time when it adopted a policy of alignment with the US. Now, the bloc is simply having to adapt to every change that occurs in the White House, without any right to a sovereign position, and simply accepting orders from Washington.
There is nothing Europe can do to change this, other than through a profound review of the bloc’s entire foreign policy. Europeans need to break with the idea of a “unified West” and start defending their own interests as an independent power. For this to happen, European states would have to undergo serious changes, such as leaving NATO, since the Atlantic alliance is nothing more than an international army controlled by Washington. Without these deep changes, the EU will have to continue obeying American decisions.
The efforts of Macron and other European leaders will be completely fruitless when it comes to Ukraine. It is possible that the peace negotiations will fail and the conflict will continue, but this will be due to the inability of the US itself to meet Russian strategic interests, as European opinion will have no impact on the diplomatic process.
On the other hand, it is highly possible that France and other European countries will adopt a dissident stance in the Trump-led Collective West and continue supporting Kiev with weapons and money, even if the US stops any participation in the conflict. Macron is trying to project European power in Ukraine through an aggressive and bellicose stance, so his decisions are expected to worsen the hostilities.

“The Smoking Gun: Who Started the War? Was It Russia or Was It US-NATO? NATO Confirms That the Ukraine “War Started in 2014”
by Prof Michel Chossudovsky
(1:26:40)
Statements of NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg.
[First published on August 27, 2023. Slight change in the title of the article.]
Author’s Update

The smoking gun: Who Started the War. Was it Russia or US-NATO?
The answer comes from the Horse’s Mouth. NATO STARTED THE WAR IN 2014, following the U.S sponsored 2014 Coup d’Etat
Of utmost significance: On September 7, 2023, NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in a presentation to the European Parliament, formally acknowledged that:
“the war didn’t start in February last year [2022]. It started in 2014.”
This far-reaching declaration confirms his earlier statement in May 2023 to the effect that the Ukraine War
“didn’t start in 2022”, “The war started in 2014”.
Stoltenberg’s Interview with the Washington Post: (emphasis added, complete text of Washington Post Interview in Annex)
Speaking on behalf of NATO, what this statement implies is that US-NATO was already at war in 2014.
It also tacitly acknowledges that Russia did not “initiate the war” on Ukraine in February 2022.

At the European Parliament, NATO Chief Jens Stoltenberg Confirmed that US-NATO Was already at War in 2014.
He also tacitly acknowledged that Russia did not “initiate the war” on Ukraine in February 2022.: “…. because the war didn’t start in February last year. It started in 2014“
In a twisted irony, in his presentation to the European Parliament, Stoltenberg portrays “the purpose” of the Ukraine war, which has resulted in more than 300,000 casualties as a means “to prevent war”.

NATO Says “War Started in 2014”.
“Fake Pretext” to Wage War against Russia?
To Invoke Article 5 of Atlantic Treaty?
by
Michel Chossudovsky
August 27, 2023
Introduction
This article addresses the implications of a controversial statement by NATO to the effect that the Ukraine War “didn’t start in 2022”, “The war started in 2014”
It’s a Bombshell: NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed (speaking on behalf of NATO) that the “war didn’t start in 2022”.
In an interview with The Washington Post (May 9, 2023), Jens Stoltenberg unequivocally confirmed that “the war started in 2014″.
Jens Stoltenberg’s bold statement (which has barely been the object of media coverage) has opened up a Pandora’s Box, or best described “A Can of Worms” on behalf of the Atlantic Alliance.
What he bears out is that the beginning of the Ukraine
war coincided with a U.S. sponsored Coup d’état, confirmed by Victoria’s
Nuland‘s “F**k the EU telephone conversation with U.S.
Ambassador Pyatt in February 2014. (see below)
Part I of this article examines the legal implications of Stoltenberg’s statement on behalf of the Atlantic Alliance.
Of crucial significance: Having stated that “the war started in 2014”, NATO can no longer claim that Russia’s Special Military Operation (SMO) of February 24, 2022 constitutes, from a legal standpoint, “an invasion”.
· Part I also addresses the issue of The Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC).
· Parti II focuses on Stoltenberg’s twisted statement that Article 5 of the Atlantic Treaty could be invoked as means to declare war against Russia.
“Article 5 of the Atlantic Treaty – its collective defence clause” declaring that an attack on one member state is “to be an attack against all NATO members.” Article 5 is NATO’s doctrine of Collective Self-Defense.
“The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all”.
In regards to the invocation of Article V in relation to Russia, a justification or fake “pretext” was mentioned by Stoltenberg in his interview with the Washington Post.
Were Article V to be invoked, this would inevitably precipitate the World into a WWIII scenario, consisting of a war whereby all 30 member states of the Atlantic Alliance, most of which are members of the European Union would be involved. . . . . (con’d)

They don’t appear on rich lists. They don’t flaunt their wealth. But behind the scenes, the Wallenberg family controls an empire worth hundreds of billions of dollars. From AstraZeneca to Ericsson, their influence quietly shapes the global economy—but only few even know their name. For over six generations, the Wallenbergs have mastered the art of staying invisible. Their financial empire was built through banking, strategic investments, and political influence, making them one of the most powerful families in Europe. But their history is full of contradictions. During World War II, they walked a dangerous line—helping both the Nazis and the resistance. They banked for Hitler, yet also aided in secret plots to overthrow him. They helped save thousands of Jewish lives, but were later blacklisted by the U.S. Treasury for financial dealings with the Nazis. So, how did the Wallenbergs become the secret rulers of Sweden? How do they keep their wealth hidden in foundations while maintaining control over Sweden’s economy? And why does every Swedish government—left or right—have to work with them?
This is the untold story of the Wallenbergs, the billionaire dynasty you’ve never heard of.

“The Cost of Freedom”

https://scheerpost.com/2025/02/16/dennis-kucinich-the-cost-of-freedom/
by Dennis Kucinich with Elizabeth Kucinich
Our government is drowning in multi-trillion-dollar financial corruption and debt while a fear-peddling national security state has reached deeply into the personal lives of each and every American, justifying its existence through endless wars cooked up by a deep state that has become the most corrupt marching band and chowder society in American history.
That deep state of permanent governance, entrenched media, think tanks, NGOs, and multi-billion-dollar government contractors, notwithstanding elections, has demanded US taxpayers pay additional TRILLIONS for wars, for subsidizing conflicts in other countries, for secret and not-so-secret arms deals to “rebels” for regime change, subverting governments through the pretext of foreign aid.
The government that we have succeeded most in subverting is our own.
There is an undeniable link between fiscal integrity and the preservation of our freedoms as Americans. When government becomes corrupt, it erodes not only our personal liberties and financial security, but also fosters a culture of lawlessness in both the public and private sectors.
In order to restore our nation’s values, all three branches of government must demonstrate rigorous oversight, discipline, and integrity. Our nation requires an honest media. We must remain vigilant in holding government officials accountable. Government is too important to our lives to be left up to only those who govern.
The constitutional crisis in the form of massive federal government financial corruption looms like a giant iceberg about to sink the Ship of State. Unless its course is corrected, and soon, our nation will perish in a sea of deficits as private interests swim shark-like to feast on corpus America.
The corruption has been institutionalized in the federal budget. It has been normalized as standard operating procedure. The waste of taxpayers’ money is ubiquitous — trillions for wars, trillions in waste, fraud, and abuse. Trillions have been lost in an accounting jumble. This has been our government’s system of checks and balances: The Administration writes the checks, and Congress doesn’t know what the balance is. Is it possible that change is coming?
Congress, which by the Constitution must pass a budget, places spending bills from all federal departments into an “omnibus bill.” “Omnibus” is Latin for “budget-busting.” Most members do not know what is in the $7.3 Trillion spending bill, and those who do aren’t talking.
Welcome to America’s version of Dante’s Inferno, where in the ninth and lowest concentric circle of Hell, Cocytus, those who betrayed their countries are cast. Here is the final unresting place for those who spun the damnable lies that took us into a $3 trillion war against Iraq, which resulted in an unforgivable hemorrhage of American treasure and blood that destroyed Iraq, killing one million Iraqi men, women and children.
The Iraq War, which began under the Bush administration, turned into a budget bacchanal of bribery, bilking, blight, and betrayal. Vice President Dick Cheney, who had been CEO of Halliburton, a major defense contractor, stood to indirectly benefit from government contracts awarded to his former company during the war.
Halliburton was awarded lucrative no-bid contracts to rebuild Iraq’s oil infrastructure and provide logistical support to the U.S. military, bringing in billions of dollars. Cheney’s ties to Halliburton raised questions about potential conflicts of interest. Cheney’s former company was found to have overcharged the government and failed to deliver on its contracts in Iraq.

“The Mafia State”

Kiss the Ring
https://scheerpost.com/2025/02/16/chris-hedges-the-mafia-state/
by Chris Hedges
Kiss the ring. Grovel before the Godfather. Give him tribute, a cut of the spoils. If he and his family get rich you get rich. Enter his inner circle, his “made” men and women, and you do not have to follow rules or obey the law. You can disembowel the machinery of government. You can turn us and the natural world into commodities to exploit until exhaustion or collapse. You can commit crimes with impunity. You can make a mockery of democratic norms and social responsibility. Perfidy is very profitable at first. In the long term it is collective suicide.
America is a full blown kleptocracy. The demolition of the social and political structure, begun long before Trump, makes a few very, very rich and immiserates everyone else. Mafia capitalism always leads to a mafia state. The two ruling parties gave us the first. Now we get the second. It is not only our wealth that is being taken from us, but our liberty.
Since the election of Donald Trump, Elon Musk, currently worth $394 billion, saw his wealth increase by $170 billion. Mark Zuckerberg, worth $254 billion, saw his net worth increase by nearly $41 billion.
Tidy sums for kneeling before Moloch.
At least 11 federal agencies that have been affected by the slash and burn campaign of the Trump administration have more than 32 continuing investigations, pending complaints or enforcement actions, into Musk’s six companies, according to a review by The New York Times.
The mafia state ignores legal constraints and regulations. It lacks external and internal control. It cannibalizes everything, including the ecosystem, until there is nothing left but a wasteland. It cannot distinguish between reality and illusion, which obscures and exacerbates gross incompetence. And then the hollowed-out edifice will collapse leaving in its wake a shell of a country with nukes. The Roman and Sumerian empires fell this way. So did the Mayans and the sclerotic reign of the French monarch Louis XVI.
In the final stages of decay for all empires, the rulers, focused exclusively on personal enrichment, ensconced in their versions of Versailles or The Forbidden City, squeeze the last drops of profit from an increasingly oppressed and impoverished population and ravaged environment.
Unprecedented wealth is inseparable from unprecedented poverty.
The more extreme life becomes, the more extreme ideologies become. Huge segments of the population, unable to absorb the despair and bleakness, severs itself from a reality-based universe. It takes comfort in magical thinking, a bizarre millennialism — one embodied for us in a Christianized fascism — which turns con artists, morons, criminals, charlatans, gangsters and grifters into prophets while branding those who decry the pillage and corruption into traitors. The rush towards self-immolation accelerates intellectual and moral paralysis.
The mafia state makes no pretense of defending the common good. Trump, Musk and their minions are swiftly repealing executive orders regarding health, environmental and safety regulations, food assistance, as well as child care programs such as Head Start. They are fighting a court order to halt their dismantling of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which has ensured that Americans have been reimbursed with more than $21 billion due to cancelled debts, financial compensation and other forms of consumer relief. They are abolishing the U.S. Agency for International Development. They are closing federal defenders’ offices, which provide legal representation to the poor. They have cut billions of dollars from the budget of the National Institutes of Health jeopardizing biomedical research and clinical trials. They have frozen permits for solar and wind projects, including sign-offs needed for projects on private land. They fired more than 300 staffers at the National Nuclear Security Administration, the agency that manages our nuclear stockpile. They are gutting the workforce of the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service and the United States Geological Survey.
The mafia state, its blueprint contained in Project 2025, ignores the dire lessons from history of extreme social inequality, political disintegration, wanton ecological plunder and the evisceration of the rule of law.

“Trump vs. the Deep State”
https://scheerpost.com/2025/02/17/patrick-lawrence-trump-vs-the-deep-state/
by Patrick Lawrence
This is the first of two commentaries examining what the writer reads as President Trump’s unfolding offensive against the institutions and agencies comprising the deep state — or, if you prefer, the administrative state or the permanent state or the invisible government. The second in this series will follow shortly.
Wow. In a series of rapid-fire developments last week, the new Trump regime has decisively joined the battle with the deep state on the national security side. This is big, or could be. Either Donald Trump will begin to exert political control over the invisible government or the invisible government will sink Donald Trump just as it did during his first term as president. Let us be attentive.
The attack on USAID, the telephone call with Vladimir Putin, the incipient alienation of the Kiev regime, new talk of talks with the Islamic Republic, Tulsi Gabbard’s confirmation as director of national intelligence: I don’t know if these events and their timing reflect a concerted plan, back-of-an-envelope inspirations, or the president’s thinking but not necessarily the thinking of those around him. Let us in any case consider these rat-a-tat developments as one if we are to understand what is fundamentally at issue.
And we must add another to the above list. On Feb. 13 Trump came out with his most explosive proposal to date — or one of them, given how quickly the explosions come these days. This was his statement, as recorded by C–SPAN Thursday, that he wants to convene with the presidents of Russia and China, “and I want to say, let’s cut our military budget[s] in half.”
Now you know what I mean by “Wow.” Now you know what I mean when I suggest Trump is on course — purposefully, I would say, of his own volition — to confront the very apparatus that more or less destroyed his first term in office.
The term “deep state” is a literal translation of the Turkish derin devlet, the name given to an invisible network of army officers who exercised power independently of the government during the Cold War. In America’s case, the deep state has been with us more or less since the Truman administration authorized its bedrock institutions shortly after the 1945 victories — the Central Intelligence Agency in 1947, the National Security Agency five years later. It came to the surface — an underpowered phrase for the event, but let’s leave it — on Nov. 22, 1963. In subsequent years, as Daniel Patrick Moynihan made clear in Secrecy: The American Experience (Yale, 1998), a “culture of secrecy” grew like kudzu in Washington. The late senator wrote of “the routinization of secrecy” and “concealment as a modus vivendi.” This was the fetid garden in which the deep state flourished.

“Israel Killed Her Own People”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/israel-killed-her-own-people/5879917
by Peter Koenig
Invoked "Hannibal Directive" Given on October 7, 2023. Hamas Attack Was a False Flag.
Israel’s former defense minister, Yoav Gallant, admitted that Israeli troops were ordered to invoke the “Hannibal Directive” on 7 October 2023, leading to significant Israeli casualties. With “hundreds” reportedly killed by Israeli forces. His admission raises questions about the justification of the subsequent Gaza offensive.
The Hannibal Directive, also translated as Hannibal Procedure or Hannibal Protocol, is the name of a controversial procedure used by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to prevent the capture of Israeli soldiers by enemy forces. It means that a dead Israeli is worth more than a captured Israeli.
The fallout from 7 October 2023 is now further complicated by these revelations that a significant number of Israeli deaths were caused by Israeli forces themselves.
While 1,139 individuals [official Israeli statements to this day refer to 1,200] in Israel were killed during the 7 October 2023 Hamas raid on Israel, it is now clear that many hundreds of these Israeli deaths were caused by Israel’s Defense Forces (IDF) themselves, not by Hamas.
Investigations by independent journalists and international bodies suggest that at least ‘hundreds’ of the Israeli deaths were the result of the Hannibal Directive, nullifying the justification for the Israeli Gaza offensive. See this and this.
This Hamas attack was well-planned years ahead by Israel’s Mossad in combination with the secret services of the UK, MI6, and the US, CIA. Remember, Hamas itself is an original creation by the secret services of Israel, UK, and US. Therefore, Israel was not only aware of the attack to occur on 7 October 2023, they triggered it and knew the time when it was to occur. According to Israeli border guards, they were ordered to abandon their duties for about seven hours, beginning in the early morning of 7 October.
With this admission of Yoav Gallant, it is clear the Hamas attack was what you might call a “False Flag”, planted by Israel, giving them a pretext to start the genocidal ethnic cleansing in Gaza for the reasons that we now have confirmed by President Trump’s statement that the US would take over Gaza, rebuild it into a resort strip and that the remaining Gazan citizens – some 1.6 to 1.8 million should be resettled in Egypt, Jordan and Europe for a “better life” – free of the risk of being killed in a war. Trump’s words.
This latter part of Trump’s statement more than insinuated that if they refused to leave Gaza, the war, the atrocious mass killing, would continue.
What Trump did not say is that the US takeover would effectively give the US (possibly shared with Israel) access to the probably trillions of dollars-worth of gas reserves offshore of Gaza.
The overall goal is achieving Greater Israel in the shortest time possible. See also this.
The admission statement by Israel’s former defense minister, Yoav Gallant, was the first public acknowledgment by a senior official of the Hannibal Directive’s application to both soldiers and civilians. Fire from Israeli helicopters, drones, and tanks targeted fleeing vehicles, including those containing Israeli civilians.
One of the most tragic incidents took place at the Supernova music festival (close to the border with Gaza), where helicopters fired on attendees, creating confusion and panic. At least 364 people were killed at the festival. Several survivors of the festival later testified that they witnessed how Israeli helicopters were shooting at the festival.
This revelation annuls the justification of Israel’s military offensive on Gaza, which has resulted in 60,000 to 70,000 of Palestinian deaths, plus hundreds of thousand seriously insured and maimed people. These are official figures. But unofficial estimates by Palestinian Health Authorities and international organizations put the figure of killed Palestinians at 120,000 to 150,000.
Over 90% of all Gaza housing and infrastructure – hospitals, school, roads, markets, community centers — was destroyed at the time when the current ceasefire began on 19 January 2025.

“Forced Displacement of Palestinians From Occupied West Bank ‘Largest Since 1967’”
by The Cradle
The mass displacement carried out by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank is the largest since 1967, according to experts cited by the New York Times (NYT) on 17 February.
“What makes this moment unprecedented is not only the scale of the displacement but also the accompanying discourse, which increasingly normalizes the idea of permanent forced displacement,” said Maha Nassar, a Palestinian historian at the University of Arizona.
“This represents a significant escalation in the longstanding conflict, one that threatens to fundamentally alter the political and demographic landscape of the region,” she went on to say.
At least 55 Palestinians have been killed since the Israeli army began its operations in the occupied West Bank last month – which were kicked off by a massive assault on Jenin and its refugee camp that remains ongoing.
The operation quickly expanded to include other cities and towns, including Tulkarem, Tubas, and Nablus.
In Jenin and Tulkarem alone, at least 26,000 Palestinians have been uprooted from their homes. Israeli forces have been destroying houses and wiping out infrastructure. Homes that have not been destroyed are being emptied out, taken over by occupation forces, and transformed into military posts.
“The Israelis have two objectives – first, to push refugees from the northern West Bank toward the central areas, aiming to erase the refugee camps entirely. The second goal is to eliminate resistance and weaken the Palestinian Authority’s ability to govern,” a displaced resident of Tulkarem told NYT.
The Israeli army launched a new raid in Nablus on Monday, after a violent raid in its Old City a day earlier – which injured at least 14, including several children.
Video footage showed Israeli forces opening fire on school children in the Old City of Nablus on Sunday.

“The Catastrophic Resolution”

https://consortiumnews.com/2025/02/14/the-catastrophic-resolution/
by Stefan Moore
Donald Trump’s absurd, immoral and flagrantly illegal plans to acquire the Gaza Strip and expel its inhabitants has incited rage and disbelief around the world, but his unhinged gambit has its origin eight decades ago in the disastrous U.N. plan to partition Palestine — a plan that ignited the first mass ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.
On June 16, 1947, members of the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP) representing 11 countries arrived in Jerusalem. Their mission was to investigate the causes of the Palestinian conflict and make recommendations about the future of the country as the British Mandate of Palestine came to an end.
From the outset, the investigation was grossly biased in favor of Palestine’s Jewish minority. No representatives of Arab nations were on UNSCOP and the U.N. General Assembly preemptively rejected Arab calls for a single Palestinian state guaranteeing civil and religious rights for Arabs and Jews.
As Israeli historian Ilan Pappé points out, the Arabs simply “demanded that Palestine be treated the same as all its neighbouring Arab countries, which had obtained full independence once their respective [British] mandates had ended.” A Very Short History of the Israel–Palestine Conflict (p.46).
Instead, the committee heard from 31 Jewish leaders from 17 Zionist organizations compared to only six representatives from Arab countries, to consider the partitioning of Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states — something it had no legal authority to do under Article 1 (2) of the U.N. Charter which enshrines “the principles of equal rights and self-determination of all peoples.”
It was a disastrous decision for Arabs, Jews and the entire region — one that would result in mass ethnic cleansing, stark inequality, perpetual fear and genocidal war.
When they arrived in Tel Aviv, UNSCOP members were received by an elated throng of residents. Zionist leaders had declared a public holiday; cheering crowds filled the streets lined with flowers and Star of David flags; committee members were swarmed by friendly locals. At City Hall, the mayor ushered the group onto the balcony as the crowd below burst into the Jewish anthem Hatikvah celebrating the biblical prophecy of the Jews’ return to the Holy Land.
Behind the scenes, everything was carefully stage-managed. During their seven-day visit, UNSCOP members were taken on tours of Jewish industry and commerce, agricultural settlements, medical centers, universities, laboratories and scientific institutes — all accompanied by top Jewish Agency officials including future Deputy Prime Minister Abba Eban.
At each location, the planners made sure that committee members “coincidentally” encountered Jewish settlers from their own countries who extolled the Zionist project.
To convince UNSCOP officials that the nascent Jewish state could repel any Arab attack, clandestine meetings were set up with leaders of Jewish underground militias. Included in the meetings were the right-wing Zionist guerilla group, the Irgun, and the high command of the main paramilitary and intelligence group, the Haganah.

“Trump's Gaza plan: Palestinians are seen as a problem to be solved, just like Jews in the 1930s”
by Middle East Eye, Ahmed Najar
It is bone-chilling to hear that you are not a person, but a burden on the region and the world. Why is it so hard to see us as a free people on our own land?
When US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza was announced, the world reacted with a flood of analysis - expert opinions, geopolitical assessments, and endless debates over its feasibility.
Discussions swirled around whether the plan could realistically be implemented, how it would affect regional stability, and whether neighbouring countries - particularly Egypt and Jordan - would accept Palestinian refugees.
Analysts obsessed over whether Jordan, already home to a significant Palestinian population, could withstand taking in more of us, as if we were an invasive species rather than a dispossessed people.
But in all this chatter, one horrifying fact stood out: the world was not outraged by the very idea of our forced displacement. It did not recoil at the suggestion that an entire people could simply be removed, erased, or reshuffled like an inconvenient statistic. The discussion was never about the fundamental injustice of uprooting Palestinians from their land.
Instead, it was about whether the logistics of our ethnic cleansing would work; whether we could be absorbed elsewhere, and, more chillingly, whether we should be absorbed at all.

“‘Are We Sleepwalking into Autocracy?’ Trump Embraces Authoritarian Playbook of Hungary's Orbán”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEgduvmKGjI
by Democracy Now!
Is Trump embracing the authoritarian playbook of far-right Hungarian dictator Viktor Orbán? Princeton professor Kim Lane Scheppele walks us through Orbán's sudden rise to power and how the Trump administration's recent actions appear to follow his anti-democratic "blueprint," with Trump "echoing a lot of Orbán's rhetoric," consolidating power in the executive branch and bypassing federal checks and balances. "Trump is trying to break things quickly," says Scheppele, a professor of sociology and international affairs at Princeton University. She also notes Orbán's involvement in the right-wing Project 2025 initiative and his adoption of the motto "Make Europe Great Again" during Hungary's presidency of the Council of the European Union last year as further evidence of the close ties between the two leaders. As Orbán works to "consolidate this movement of anti-democratic far-right forces" in Europe, warns Scheppele, Trump is tightening his grasp on the other side of the Atlantic.

“Trump 2.0 Crosses the Atlantic”
https://scheerpost.com/2025/02/19/patrick-lawrence-trump-2-0-crosses-the-atlantic/
by Patrick Lawrence
Eight years ago, at precisely this moment in Donald’s Trump’s first term, the new president was pushing his case for a restored détente with Russia. Trump went on to summit with Vladimir Putin five times and conducted at least 16 telephone exchanges with the Russian president.
This was the count by mid–2019. After that and until the end of his term, the Deep State — notably the intelligence apparatus, the Democratic National Committee, and the mass media — had Trump bound in the rope of subterfuge so thoroughly that the relationship developed no further.
The neo-détente Trump favored — that Trump was correct to favor, better put — never came to be. Joe Biden and his people, to state the obvious, were by contrast neo–Cold Warriors — mere ideologues, neoliberals wholly incapable of autonomous thought, initiative, imagination, or anything else that sophisticated statecraft requires of its practitioners.
Trump began his second term not quite a month ago, having promised throughout his political campaign to end Biden’s proxy war in Ukraine within a day of assuming office. And it is already evident that his ambitions now run far beyond the settlement in Ukraine he has long promised and the modest détente with Moscow he sought during his first four years in the White House.
The Biden project, from his years as Barack Obama’s vice-president and certainly during his term as Obama’s successor, was to isolate the Russian Federation as completely as possible by way of a poorly conceived sanctions regime, covert operations such as the Nord Stream pipeline explosions, a towering wall of propaganda and what coercions were necessary to secure the allegiance of European clients who were, in any case, already wanderers on the world stage with no clue as to their purpose or even their interests.
Biden’s Russia policy left Ukraine waging a deadly proxy war it cannot win and the Continent well on its way to paupery. Joe Biden divided the world at least as severely and dangerously as it was during the Cold War years.
It is precisely these conditions that assuaged the anxieties neoliberals shared with the Deep State during Trump’s first term and the whole of Biden’s. They succeeded in warding off the threat of any kind of constructive co-existence between Russia and the Atlantic alliance —between West and East, this is to say.
This is a pencil-sketch of the world Trump inherited from his predecessor when he moved back into the White house a month ago.
Russia Out of the Cold
Trump seems to have done a lot of thinking during his four years in the political wilderness. A week of exceptional events, each adding more surprise to those preceding it, indicates that Trump and those around him now propose to transcend altogether the binaries Washington has enforced since it assumed its position of global primacy in the late 1940s. Russia is to come in from the cold and the Atlantic is to grow wider.
In this context, extricating the U.S. from the Ukraine quagmire is more than a footnote but nothing like the main attraction. Assuming all goes to Trump’s apparent plan — and we must make this assumption with unsparing caution — the center-stage attraction is discarding what has passed for a world order since the 1945 victories.
To be noted immediately: Sending the ancien régime into the history texts is not the same as constructing a new order to replace it. At this early moment it is not clear whether Trump and his people have an idea for one; yet more doubtful is whether he or any of his people would be up to a project of this world-historical magnitude.

“‘A Victory for Putin’? Jeffrey Sachs & Matt Duss Debate US-Russia Talks to End Ukraine War”
by Democracy Now!
(26:39)
Top diplomats from the United States and Russia met in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to discuss ending the war in Ukraine and improving relations between Washington and Moscow. The Riyadh summit represents a monumental shift in U.S. policy after the Biden administration led an international effort to isolate Russia over its invasion and gave tens of billions in military aid to Kyiv. Participants included U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was not invited to attend and has said he won’t recognize a peace deal negotiated without his country. European leaders have also been sidelined. For more on these developments, we host a discussion between economist Jeffrey Sachs and foreign policy analyst Matt Duss.
“This is a war that never should have happened,” says Sachs, who faults “U.S. provocations” like the expansion of NATO for laying the groundwork for Russia’s invasion in 2022. In holding these talks directly with Russia, “the Trump administration, for the first time, is telling the truth about the fundamental causes of this war,” adds Sachs.
Duss says that while the U.S. has played a major role in the conflict, “Vladimir Putin is the one who chose to invade Ukraine.” He also emphasizes that Ukrainians themselves have agency and have been key players in events since the end of the Cold War, including their current defense against Russia. “It’s not just a story of unending U.S. villainy.”

“US, Russia Agree To Normalize Diplomatic Ties, Seek End to War in Ukraine”
by Kyle Anzalone
Following a high-level meeting between US and Russian officials, the State Department said Washington and Moscow will begin taking steps to normalize the diplomatic relationship between the two superpowers. US-Russian diplomacy sank during the first Donald Trump administration, and Joe Biden cut nearly all contact with Russia after the invasion of Ukraine.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff met with a Russian delegation led by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday. During a press conference after the meeting, Rubio said the parties agreed on four points.
“First is that we are going to work – we’re going to point our teams’ respectively to work very quickly to reestablish the functionality of our respective missions in Washington and in Moscow.” He continued, “For us to be able to continue to move down this road, we need to have diplomatic facilities that are operating and functioning normally.”
US and Russian ties have declined over the past decade. Rubio claimed that President Trump is uniquely equipped for this task. However, during his first administration, Washington significantly set back its diplomatic relationship with Russia.
Trump previously set records for sanctioning Russia and expelling Russian diplomats from the US. He destroyed two key nuclear arms control agreements with Moscow and refused to engage with the Kremlin on extending the New Start Treaty.
Lavrov said he viewed the summit as a success. “We did not just listen but heard each other, and I have reason to believe the American side has better understood our position,” Russia’s top diplomat explained.
Witkoff gave a glowing response to what was discussed during the meeting. “It was positive, upbeat, constructive, everybody [was] there to get to the right outcome, solution-based. We discussed it afterwards. We couldn’t have imagined a better result after this session. It was very, very solid,” he told the press.
Rubio went on to explain the final three points. “The second point is that we’re going to appoint a high-level team from our end to help negotiate and walk – work through the end of the conflict in Ukraine in a way that’s enduring and acceptable to all the parties engaged.” He continued, “The third point is to begin to work at a high level as well to begin to discuss and think about and examine both the geopolitical and economic cooperation that could result from an end to the conflict in Ukraine.”
The top American diplomat added, “The last thing we agreed to [is] that, while our teams are going to be working on all of this, the five of us that were here today are going to remain engaged in this process to make sure that it’s moving along in a productive way.”
While Tuesday’s talks were the first significant effort aimed at ending the war in Ukraine since April 2022, Trump’s effort to engage with Russia has been condemned by much of the political class in the West. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that he will refuse to abide by any agreement inked between the US and Russia.

“Trump Wants Peace in Ukraine, But Why Not in Gaza?”
https://scheerpost.com/2025/02/17/trump-wants-peace-in-ukraine-but-why-not-in-gaza/
by Medea Benjamin and Nicholas JS Davies
As we approach the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a monumental shift is taking place that might just lead to the end of this calamitous war.
This is not a breakthrough on the battlefield, but a stark reversal of the U.S. position from being the major supplier of weapons and funding to prolong the war to one of peacemaker.
Donald Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine if he was re-elected as president. On Feb. 12, he started to make good on that promise by holding a 90-minute call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom Biden had refused to talk to since the war began.
They agreed that they were ready to begin peace negotiations “immediately,” and Trump then called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and spent an hour discussing the conditions for what Zelenskyy called a “lasting and reliable peace.”
At the same time, the new U.S. defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, unveiled Trump’s new policy in more detail at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, saying, “The bloodshed must stop. And this war must end.”
There are two parts to the new policy that Hegseth announced. First, he said that Trump “intends to end this war by diplomacy and bringing both Russia and Ukraine to the table.”
Secondly, he said that the United States is handing off the prime responsibility for arming Ukraine and guaranteeing its future security to the European members of NATO.
Assigning Europe the role of security guarantor is a transparent move to shield the U.S. from ongoing responsibility for a war that it played a major role in provoking and prolonging by scuttling previous negotiations.
If the Europeans will not accept their assigned role in Trump’s plan, or Zelenskyy or Putin reject it, the United States may yet have to play a larger role in security guarantees for Ukraine than Trump or many Americans would like. Zelenskyy told the Guardian on Feb. 11 that, for Ukraine, “Security guarantees without America are not real security guarantees.”
After blocking peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in April 2022, the Biden administration rejected peace negotiations over Ukraine for nearly three years.
Biden insisted that Ukraine must recover all of its internationally recognized territory, including the Crimea and Donbas regions that separated from Ukraine after the U.S.-backed coup in Kyiv in 2014.

“Trump Calls for Peace in Ukraine and Palestinian Exodus in Gaza? Something Is Not Right”

https://www.globalresearch.ca/trump-calls-peace-ukraine-palestinian-exodus-gaza/5880238
by Peter Koenig
Looks like there is a fresh wind blowing over Europe. That’s good. It is high time that European leadership is being called out on their hypocrisy and ever-increasing undemocratic, corrupt dictatorship.
Europe, as it is today, must change her course, change her leadership — to be democratically elected, and the European Union, that was never even a European idea in the first place – but a US idea for better control of the “NATO continent”, and the European elite went along. This European Union (EU) must break apart. Europe must return to its roots, to individual sovereign countries, with their own currencies, deciding their own socioeconomic policies, not being dictated from a centralized technocracy.
This is an integral part of lasting peace.
It would lead to a strong self-assured Europe – no longer dependent on an all-controlling Brussels autocratic tyranny. A free Europe, where each nation decides on her own with whom to trade, East and West, to a Europe that would move back to what it used to be some 200 years ago, and, really, up to two and a half decades ago, an integral part of this huge contiguous continent called Eurasia, to which belong Russia, China and everything in between, plus even parts of the Middle East.
Having said this, the “calling-out” and call for peace, an end to the senseless killing in an US-EU-instigated proxy war, the Ukraine-Russia conflict, is necessary. Europe is still promoting the killing, lying to the public that Russia will lose. This call for peace coming from the United States is a positive sign.
But what about the US peace efforts in the Middle East? Calling out Israel, stopping the Zionists’ all-destructive, genocidal drive for a Greater Israel? And instead calling for the reconstruction of Gaza and the West Bank for a new and lasting independent sovereign Palestine? Is President Trump ready to bite that bullet?
For now, the contrary appears to be the case. He is pictured, photographed with and hugging a mass murderer, supporting his cause and calling for a total Palestinian exodus from Gaza. Is that the same Trump calling for peace in the Ukraine-Russia war?
Something is not quite right. We have to remain skeptical and actively calling Mr. Trump’s bluff on Gaza and Israel, if he is to be taken seriously, not just as an emerging bully, lawless wannabe emperor.

“USAID Falls, Exposing a Giant Network of US-Funded ‘Independent’ Media”
by Alan MacLeod
The Trump administration’s decision to pause USAID funding has plunged hundreds of so-called “independent media” outlets into crisis, thereby exposing a worldwide network of thousands of journalists, all working to promote U.S. interests in their home countries.
In late January, President Trump—along with help from the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk—began implementing sweeping changes to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on the premise that the organization’s promotion of liberal and progressive causes was a gigantic waste of money. The group’s website and Twitter account have disappeared amid widespread speculation that it will cease to exist or be folded into Marco Rubio’s State Department.
The pausing of aid immediately sent shockwaves across the planet, not least in the international media, many of which, unbeknownst to their readers, are totally dependent on financing from Washington.
In total, USAID spends over a quarter of a billion dollars yearly training and funding a vast, sprawling network of more than 6,200 reporters at nearly 1,000 news outlets or journalism organizations, all under the rubric of promoting “independent media.”
With the money tap unexpectedly turned off, outlets around the world are panicking, turning to their readers for donations, and thereby outing themselves as fronts for U.S. power.
Media on the Dole: Cash Flow Crisis Hits Hard
Perhaps the country most affected by this sudden change in policy is Ukraine. While criticizing the decision, Oksana Romanyuk, the Director of Ukraine’s Institute for Mass Information, revealed that almost 90% of the country’s media are bankrolled by USAID, including many that have no other source of funding.
Olga Rudenko, the editor-in-chief of the Kyiv Independent (an outlet MintPress previously revealed receives funds from Washington), also denounced the decision. Last month, she wrote that the USAID freeze is a greater threat to independent Ukrainian journalism than either the COVID-19 pandemic or the Russian invasion. The Kyiv Independent has since asked its readers to support a funding drive to keep pro-U.S. Ukrainian media alive. Other large Ukrainian outlets, such as Hromadske and Bihus.Info, have done the same.
Anti-government Cuban media have been plunged into a similar predicament. Miami-based CubaNet published an editorial asking readers for money. “We are facing an unexpected challenge: the suspension of key funding that sustained part of our work.” they wrote; “If you value our work and believe in keeping the truth alive, we ask for your support.” Last year, CubaNet received $500,000 in USAID funding to engage “on-island young Cubans through objective and uncensored multimedia journalism.” Cynics, however, might visit the website and see little but anti-communist talking points.
Madrid-based Diario de Cuba is also in dire straits. Last weekend, the outlet’s director, Pablo Díaz Espí, noted that “aid to independent journalism from the government of the United States has been suspended, which makes our work more difficult” before asking viewers to subscribe. Since the Cuban Revolution of 1959, the United States has spent giant amounts of money financing media networks in an attempt to bring the government down. Between 1985 and 2013 alone, Radio and TV Martí received over half a billion dollars in taxpayer money.
Across the world, the funding freeze has put outlets in immediate danger of shutting down. Burmese organizations have already begun firing staff. Around 200 journalists are thought to be directly paid by USAID. “We are struggling to survive,” Wunna Khwar Nyo, chief editor of Western News, told Voice of America. “I cannot imagine [how people will manage] without a salary to pay your rent,” worried Toe Zaw Latt of the Independent Press Council Myanmar.

“War is All about Money, Ukraine’s Rare Earth Minerals: Mineral and Riviera Deals Can Never be a Substitute for Proper Peace Diplomacy”

https://www.globalresearch.ca/mineral-riviera-deals-never-substitute-proper-peace-diplomacy/5880234
by Bharat Dogra
The (Ukraine) war is all about money. People don’t talk much about it. But you know, the richest country in all of Europe for rare earth minerals is Ukraine. Two to seven trillion dollars (worth) of minerals that are rare earth minerals, very relevant to the 21st century… Donald Trump is going to do a deal to get our money back, to enrich ourselves with rare earth minerals. A good deal for Ukraine and us, and he is going to bring peace.” –Senator Lindsey Graham in conversation with Fox News host Sean Hannity in November 2024.
True to what Senator Graham foresaw, President Trump has not lost any time in staking claim to nearly 500 billion dollar worth of rare earth minerals of Ukraine, meaning that these will be exploited by US companies, in return for the aid provided in the past and linked also to reconstruction work likely to be taken up by US companies in Ukraine in the near future.

While President Trump’s overall efforts to stop the Ukraine war and bring peace here are most welcome, it is strange and unfortunate that peace efforts are being linked to resource grab. This is hardly the ideal way to pursue peace diplomacy or justice-based diplomacy. In fact the requirements of peace and justice based peace can be trumped by such a narrow vision of prioritizing economic gain and resource grab.
While Graham’s comments of November 2024 indicate prior planning for this, this may also be the case in the context of the Gaza Riviera plan. Its origin is being traced to a detailed document prepared in the summer of 2024 by a Washington-based economist Joseph Pelzman whose proposal included not just hotels and resorts but also airports and harbors. At the same time, he too had stated eerily that for his plan to work out, first Gaza needs to be emptied out and that Egypt should be willing to take in displaced Palestinians.
Of course the concept of mass displacement of the people of Gaza is completely hostile to any understanding of justice-based peace in this region, and has so far been opposed with rare unity by almost the entire Arab world.
This is very unfortunate because President Trump had won goodwill even here initially by placing adequate pressure on the Israeli government to agree to at least a temporary ceasefire, a goal that had eluded the Biden administration for over 15 months. However soon after this Trump’s proposal to displace the people of Gaza to create Riviera really shocked not just the Palestinians but all those people in world who believe in justice, particularly as the people of Gaza have already suffered so much and to now inflict mass displacement on them would be the height of injustice.
This injustice appears all the more unacceptable as this would mean that the people of Gaza would be deprived of their quite substantial gas reserves too. Earlier it was being stated that Israel has its eyes on gaining control over these gas resources of Gaza, but if the Trump project is implemented, then it is more likely that the USA will get control over these gas resources.
What is more, if the people of Gaza are sent elsewhere by arguing that Gaza has become unlivable now, then this creates a highly objectionable model of achieving the objective of ethnic cleansing—first pound a country or region endlessly with so much bombing that much of the place is reduced to rubble, then tell the people who have always lived there that since so much has been destroyed so you also must leave.
If this kind of reasoning is accepted, then how can anyone speak of justice and justice-based peace?
Then there is the additional question of what will happen to the Palestinian people of West Bank. If such extreme actions can be taken to displace the people of Gaza on a mass scale, then isn’t it likely that something similar will be done to the people of West Bank by later displacing them too, particularly when one keeps in mind the reality that there are already intensified pressures on the Palestinians there with continued expansion of Israeli settlers and more atrocities inflicted on the Palestinians. The Israeli motivations for occupying West Bank have been stronger compared to the occupation of Gaza.
Hence the peace prospects in Gaza and West Bank should be pursued within the framework of justice-based inclusion of the Palestinian people.
A cynical, narrow and commerce-based view of peace negotiations can never become a substitute for proper peace diplomacy. Sincere and justice-based peace diplomacy is what the world needs. If peace efforts are to be linked or made conditional to resource grabs or big business interests, then these efforts will not go very far and can get disrupted when big business and narrow commercial interests get priority over peace and justice concerns.

“U.S. Act of War against the European Union: President Biden Ordered the Terror Attack against Nord Stream. High Treason against the People of Europe”

by Prof Michel Chossudovsky
Introduction
This article was first published on October 11, 2022 in the week following the September 26, 2022 act of sabotage of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, the specific details of which were later revealed by Seymour Hersh.
Of utmost relevance to the announced Trump-Putin peace negotiations in Saudi Arabia, this article confirms that the outgoing president of the U.S. Joe Biden’s was involved in the act of sabotage of Nord Stream. This was confirmed at a White House Press Conference held on February 7, 2022.
Act of Sabotage Ordered by Former President Joe Biden
“There will be no longer a Nord Stream 2” said Joe Biden.
This act of sabotage ordered by the former president of the U.S. Joe Biden in early February 2022 was an Act of War against the European Union, which in the course of the last three years has been conducive to devastating economic and social consequences.
Act of Treason by Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz
Chancellor Olaf Scholz was present at the Press Conference. Germany’s head of government Scholz formally confirmed his endorsement of Biden’s statement pertaining to Nord Stream.
Andreas (Reuters) Q [to Chancellor Scholz] “…will you commit today to turning off and pulling the plug on Nord Stream 2? You didn’t mention it, and you haven’t mentioned it.”
Chancellor Scholz: As I’ve already said, we are acting together [with Biden], we are absolutely united, and we will not be taking different steps. We will do the same steps, and they will be very, very hard to Russia, and they should understand. (emphasis added)
Vice President J.D. Vance Smashes EU’s Fake Democracy at Munich (MSC)
According to Vance, “the main threat comes from within”, not from Russia and China. “He cited the annulment of the election results in Romania and the risk of a repeat of this scenario in Germany”.
No doubt he was referring to the corrupt “class politique”… “German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also felt Vance’s wrath. The US Vice President refused to meet with him”.
Germany’s election is scheduled for February 23, 2025.
Olaf Scholz’s had requested to dissolve the Bundestag following Scholz’s call for “an unsuccessful confidence vote” (December 16, 2025). Bear in mind Chancellor Olaf Scholz together with Joe Bine “pulled the plug on Northstream”, thereby committing an act of treason against both his Country as well as against the member states of the European Union (EU)
The Act of Treason by Scholz’s government which led to the NordStream act of sabotage should be a central issue of forthcoming February 28th elections.

MICHEL CHOSSUDOVSKY – AMERICA IS AT WAR WITH EUROPE
Introduction and Update
(February 2023)
In recent developments [early 2023] German Prosecutor General Peter Frank confirmed “there is no evidence to blame Russia for the destruction of the Nord Stream gas pipelines”:
“It currently has not been proven (…) The investigation is ongoing (…) We are currently evaluating all this forensically. [The suspicion] that there had been a foreign sabotage act [in this case], has so far not been substantiated”, he said during the interview with Die Welt.
No evidence of foreign sabotage of an act which has created social havoc and hardship in the European Union, with rising energy prices? People are freezing, unable to pay their heating bills. The EU economy which relied on cheap energy from Russia is in shambles.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz refused to comment on the investigation.
If it wasn’t Russia, who was behind it?
Unequivocally, this act of sabotage had been ordered by the President of the United States. The following statement was three years ago:
“We will, I promise you, we will be able to do that”, says Joe Biden February 7, 2022
Olaf Scholz and Peter Frank are liars.
The sabotage was committed by a “foreign power”. This is confirmed by a recent declaration of Victoria Nuland at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
“Senator Cruz, like you I am and I think the administration is very gratified to know that Nord Stream 2 is now as you like to say, a hunk of metal at the bottom of the sea.”

Video: “Did Chancellor Olaf Scholz Commit an Act of Treason by “Pulling the Plug” on Nord Stream 2”
by Prof Michel Chossudovsky
(27:10)
First published on February 17, 2025
Introduction:
Former President Joe Biden at a February 7, 2022 White House Press Conference made the following statement in response to a Reuters journalist.
Also present at the White House press conference was Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz:
Reuters. Andra- — Andrea. You’ve got the first question.
Q Thank you, Mr. President. And thank you, Chancellor Scholz. Mr. President, I have wanted to ask you about this Nord Stream project that you’ve long opposed.
You didn’t mention it just now by name, nor did Chancellor Scholz.
Did you receive assurances from Chancellor Scholz today that Germany will, in fact, pull the plug on this project if Russia invades Ukraine? And did you discuss what the definition of “invasion” could be?
PRESIDENT BIDEN: The first question first. If Germany — if Russia invades — that means tanks or troops crossing the — the border of Ukraine again — then there will be — we — there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2.
We will bring an end to it.
Q But how will you — how will you do that exactly, since the project and control of the project is within Germany’s control?
PRESIDENT BIDEN: We will — I promise you, we’ll be able to do it.
This statement was followed by a question directed to Chancellor Olaf Scholz:
Reuters. Andra- — Andrea.
Q And will you commit today — will you commit today to turning off and pulling the plug on Nord Stream 2? You didn’t mention it, and you haven’t mentioned it.
CHANCELLOR SCHOLZ: As I’ve already said, we are acting together, we are absolutely united, and we will not be taking different steps. We will do the same steps, and they will be very, very hard to Russia, and they should understand.

Blowing up Nord Stream-2. A U.S. Act of War against Germany and the EU
It was a political decision by the former president and his political entourage including Victoria Nuland to make known that a U.S. act of sabotage against Nord Stream-2 was envisaged with the support of Germany’s head of government Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Biden’s public statement de facto acknowledges that the planned sabotage operation would be “traceable to the White House”.
Biden’s statement was formulated with the endorsement of Germany’s Chancellor Scholz several months before the so-called secret act of sabotage.
Several analysts and journalists have pondered as to “who was responsible for the sabotage”. This is a nonsensical exercise.
The answer is obvious. POTUS, The President of the United States with the full endorsement of Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who granted “the green light” for the implementation of the act of sabotage against Germany and the European Union on September 22, 2022
Olaf Scholz was fully aware that this act of sabotage against Nord Stream-2 had been formulated by the US with the support of Germany’s coalition government, to the detriment of more than 400 million Europeans.
My message to the people of Germany prior to the forthcoming elections on Sunday February 23, 2025
Has Chancellor Olaf Scholz committed an Act of Treason under the Laws of The Federal Republic of Germany (FRG)?

“Dennis Kucinich: President Trump Wants to Cut the Pentagon Budget in Half. How?”

The Pentagon US Department of Defense building. “DoD photo by Master Sgt. Ken Hammond, U.S. Air Force.”, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons
by The Scheer Report, with Dennis Kucinich with Elizabeth Kucinich
It is Presidents’ Day, and President Donald Trump has made a bold statement regarding military spending — one that no other president in modern history has made. He claims he could cut the Pentagon budget by about 50%.
President Trump has suggested a major cut in defense spending, proposing that the United States, Russia and China each reduce their military budgets by 50%. He has also expressed a desire to begin denuclearization and arms control discussions with both Russia and China to accomplish this objective.
Military contractors poured $4,440,605 into Kamala Harris’s campaign — more than double what they contributed to Donald Trump. Yet, even with the support of establishment figures like Dick Cheney, their favored candidate fell short. The defeat of the military contractor’s candidate may have consequences for the industry.
Now, with President Trump in office and a bold initiative to cut Pentagon spending by 50%, the defense industry faces a challenge unlike any before.
The financial markets are already responding: Major U.S. defense firms are experiencing notable stock declines, while European defense companies surge in anticipation of increased regional military spending. Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, and Northrop Grumman have all seen stocks fall, while companies such as Rheinmetall, BAE Systems, and Saab are benefiting from investors expecting a shift in global defense priorities.
Last week, we examined the staggering costs of U.S. military spending in “The Cost of Freedom: Confronting Military Waste.” This week, we take the conversation further by analyzing President Trump’s claim that he could cut Pentagon spending in half — what that actually looks like, and which interests may be affected.
As President Trump pursues negotiations to bring peace to Ukraine, European governments appear to be moving in the opposite direction, increasing military budgets and deepening their involvement in the conflict. European defense firms are thriving as they anticipate further arms sales to governments committed to escalating military engagement rather than seeking diplomatic solutions.
This contrast underscores the significance of Trump’s initiative — challenging the entrenched military-industrial complex, wherever it is located, and seeking to end perpetual warfare.
The era of unchecked military expansion may be coming to an end, and for the first time in decades, the ability of the defense industry to influence U.S. military policy is being curtailed.
Will it happen? We don’t know, but President Trump’s bold proposal to cut Pentagon spending reflects his signature negotiation style — starting with an aggressive position to shift the conversation and force a change in conditions — in this case, scrutiny of military waste.
Rather than a rigid policy demand, Trump’s talk of a 50% cut in military spending challenges the entrenched interests of the military-industrial complex, putting pressure on defense contractors to reduce costs, compelling Congress to justify every dollar spent.
Peace, diplomacy and international agreements between military superpowers are now squarely on the priority policy table for the first time in decades and are being understood as pragmatic. Such strategic diplomacy can open the door for arms reduction talks with other global superpowers.
By challenging the status quo, Trump is causing security and economic prosperity to be merged. Trump is causing a rethink of national priorities, that America’s strength is built on both security and economic prosperity, and that unlimited military spending threatens both.
It is a longstanding Congressional practice of bloating the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) with unnecessary programs and hyperinflated spending. In all other authorization packages, things must be reduced and streamlined.
In the “defense” bill, they are always padded out and multiple zeros added to appropriations requests by habit. Very few lawmakers have the courage to vote against a “defense” bill despite knowing its excesses, and media will spin on the attack if they do.
While in Congress, I was always 100% for national defense through fiscal integrity, against unnecessary war and profiteering, and I voted 100% of the time against the wasteful spending!
Throughout our careers, we have championed the principle of “Strength Through Peace.” This philosophy is rooted in the belief that true national security is not achieved through ever-expanding military budgets, but through diplomacy, cooperation, and a commitment to resolving conflicts without war.

In the piece, Dr. Kortunov analyses the warming relations between Washington and Moscow and asks if the two Great Powers together will manage to rewrite history.

by Mark Crispin Miller
Contrary to what you may think, they're killing off the politicians along with everybody else.
Some of my readers have suggested that “no politicians” have dropped dead, keeled over, or succumbed to some “rare” cancer since this nightmare began, suggesting that the pols comprise a privileged caste whose members seemed only to have taken the “vaccine,” but in fact merely faked it. In other words, to quote George Carlin, “it’s a big club—and you ain’t in it.”
While it’s always prudent to be skeptical, such knowingness (it’s not quite skepticism, which is more sophisticated) is, in its way, as unwise as believing everything you read, watch and/or hear; because that club is rally not so big, excluding lots of stars, political and otherwise, whom you’d think would be injected only with saline, but who were jabbed, evidently, and thereby killed or incapacitated.
For example, there are all those politicians whom I named in my post on RFK’s Senate “hearings”:
Among the legislators, or their loved ones, who may be disabled, or dead, because of those “life-saving” shots (administered in 2021) are Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), diagnosed with lymphoma in late 2022; Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), who suffered an ischemic stroke in May of 2022 (and then was diagnosed with “COVID” last July); Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who twice froze up eerily before the cameras, for 30 seconds, in 2023, and recently was spotted using a wheelchair after twice falling on the Senate stairs; House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), who was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in August, 2023; Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who, in her final years, was visibly stricken with a range of ailments—shingles, encephalitis, Ramsay Hunt Syndrome—each recognized as an “adverse event” often following COVID “vaccination,” finally passed away in late September, 2023, no cause of death reported; Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), who, in August of 2023, announced the death of his eldest daughter, Tuesday, “after a year of battling a very aggressive form of cancer,” as Van Orden put it; and—to note a fatal “vaccine” injury other than disease—in August of 2022, Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) perished, with two staffers, in a car crash suggesting that the driver of her SUV had passed out at the wheel (an all-too-common sort of “vaccident” since 2020): “Investigators determined that the SUV driven by Zachery Potts, 27, of Mishawaka, Indiana, crossed the centerline for unknown reasons in a rural area near the town of Wakarusa,” AP reported at the time.
And now (below) we have Rep. John Larson (D-CT), caught on video snapping into slo-mo at the podium as he tried to finish talking about Social Security. Of course, it could be mere coincidence that Larson, proudly jabbed, now suddenly was doing his Mitch McConnell imitation, that worthy having likewise blanked out last summer, and then, twice, on the Senate stairs two weeks ago (since which “episode” he’s been using a wheelchair). That could be a coincidence; but it’s probably not, any more than the ongoing global plague of “rare” cancers, heart conditions and untimely deaths since 2020 could be coincidental.

“What Was COVID Really About? Triggering a Multi-Trillion Dollar Global Debt Crisis. ‘Ramping Up an Imperialist Strategy’?”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/covid-capitalism-friedrich-boris/5785964
by Colin Todhunter
Covid, Capitalism, Friedrich Engels and Boris Johnson.
“And thus it renders more and more evident the great central fact that the cause of the miserable condition of the working class is to be sought, not in these minor grievances, but in the capitalistic system itself.” Friedrich Engels, The Condition of the Working Class in England (1845) (preface to the English Edition, p.36)
The IMF and World Bank have for decades pushed a policy agenda based on cuts to public services, increases in taxes paid by the poorest and moves to undermine labour rights and protections.
IMF ‘structural adjustment’ policies have resulted in 52% of Africans lacking access to healthcare and 83% having no safety nets to fall back on if they lose their job or become sick. Even the IMF has shown that neoliberal policies fuel poverty and inequality.
In 2021, an Oxfam review of IMF COVID-19 loans showed that 33 African countries were encouraged to pursue austerity policies. The world’s poorest countries are due to pay $43 billion in debt repayments in 2022, which could otherwise cover the costs of their food imports.
Oxfam and Development Finance International (DFI) have also revealed that 43 out of 55 African Union member states face public expenditure cuts totalling $183 billion over the next five years.
According to Prof Michel Chossudovsky of the Centre for Research on Globalization, the closure of the world economy (March 11, 2020 Lockdown imposed on more than 190 countries) has triggered an unprecedented process of global indebtedness. Governments are now under the control of global creditors in the post-COVID era.
What we are seeing is a de facto privatisation of the state as governments capitulate to the needs of Western financial institutions.
Moreover, these debts are largely dollar-denominated, helping to strengthen the US dollar and US leverage over countries.
It raises the question: what was COVID really about? . . .

“New York Vaccnine Clinics called Ambulances to be on Standby”
by Dr Piere Kory
Within 6 weeks of the mRNA rollout, FOIA'ed data from NY reveal a shocking number of emergency calls from vaccine clinics as well as requests for ambulances to be "on standby."
The latest “rumors” of Trump and RFK Jr considering “banning” the Covid mRNA platform inspired me today:

If a moratorium happens, it will not only validate everything I and many other “dissident” physicians have tried to do for over 4 years but it also inspires us to further document the immense, enduring, and increasingly recognized harms of that campaign into the historical record.
In this post, I will highlight what I feel is one of (not the only) critical variables that allowed the mRNA vaccine catastrophe to occur and that is the cowardice, silence, and complicity from “nearly” everyone in health care. Sorry, not sorry.

“Epidemiologist Drops Undeniable Proof That the COVID Shots Must be Banned Before Idaho State Senators”
by Nicolas Hulscher
Testifying before the Idaho Senate Health and Welfare Committee, Nicolas Hulscher, MPH of the McCullough Foundation presented irrefutable proof that COVID-19 injections are not only ineffective but also not safe for human use.
Hulscher’s testimony was part of a hearing on Senate Bill 1036 (S1036), which seeks to establish a moratorium on the use of mRNA-based vaccines.
Backed by several damning studies, Hulscher let the science speak for itself:
“Along with VAERS, 12 studies demonstrate that mass COVID-19 vaccination has led to increased mortality. The total number of COVID-19 vaccine deaths worldwide may be greater than 17 million.”
“Three hundred twenty-five autopsies indicate a high likelihood of a causal link between COVID-19 vaccines and death.”
“Lipid nanoparticles carrying modified mRNA travel to all organ systems, instructing them to become toxic, full-length prefusion-stabilized spike protein factories.”
“Product mRNA and resulting spike protein are found directly in affected tissues at autopsy.”
“The total number of COVID-19 vaccine deaths reported to VAERS has far exceeded recall limits of past vaccine withdrawals by up to 375,000%.”
“Six studies have demonstrated that COVID-19 vaccinated individuals face a higher risk of infection compared to unvaccinated individuals.”
“DNA contamination in COVID-19 vaccines, reported across multiple manufacturers, vaccine platforms, and geographic regions, far exceeds regulatory thresholds.”
As such, Hulscher concluded,
“Immediate removal of COVID-19 vaccines from the market is essential to prevent further loss of life and ensure the next steps for accountability are taken.”

“Listen in on the Trump-Putin Phone Call”

A wheeler-dealer since he was teething delivers his spiel to a world-class statesman.
TRUMP TO PUTIN: Hey, my man, we’ll give you and Xi generous, fair peace deals, but the quid pro quo is hands off the Zionists. Let Greater Israel be theirs for the taking, even if they have to genocide their whole way through. America is ZOG’d to high heaven and I’m a dead man walking if I don’t deliver them their #1 bottom line.
PUTIN TO TRUMP: Too bad, my friend. It took us years to get rid of the Zionized USSR, and poor Europe is now one big vassal state after two ZOG’d world wars.
TRUMP TO PUTIN: Puh-leeze, you don’t have to rub it in. Those parasites have been tearing out our copper wiring big time for too long. And now they’re forcing us to listen to Macher Mike make the rounds gaslighting us to believe that all the corruption and thievery was just USAID run amok.*

“Hold the Applause for Trump, the ‘Peacemaker’.”

https://www.globalresearch.ca/hold-applause-trump-peacemaker/5880563
by Edward Curtin
There is history worth remembering as Trump is lauded in certain circles on the so-called “right” and “left” as a peacemaker with Russia over the US/NATO proxy war against Russia via Ukraine: President Richard Nixon, who ran as the peace candidate in 1968 with a “secret plan” for peace in Vietnam that was actually a plan for more war, visited China in February 1972 in a move to exploit the Soviet-China split, and yet the US war against Vietnam went on until April 30, 1975 when the U.S. was driven out of Vietnam.
I think extreme caution is advised when it comes to Trump’s plans to end the U.S. proxy war against Russia, which, following the Nixon-Kissinger script, seems to be aimed at splitting the Russian-Chinese partnership now threatening U.S. world domination.
Trump, like his predecessor Joseph Biden who presided over the proxy war against Russia and the genocide of Palestinians by Israel, is no man of peace. He is fully in support of the extinction of the Palestinians and behind Israel’s war aims in the Middle-East. So when it comes to his recent overtures to Russia and a resolution to the U.S./NATO proxy war against Russia, one needs to reflect on history and Trump’s inclination to make “a deal.” The man, after all, was a reality-television star and has long reveled in radical reversals of previous statements and intentions. For example, in his first term, he often talked of withdrawing from NATO but never did; NATO, in fact, expanded under his watch. He talked about ending the U.S./NATO support for Ukraine’s bombing of Russian-speaking areas of eastern Ukraine, only to withdraw from the Minsk Accords and send military equipment to Ukraine to bomb those areas.
Those who are praising him now say he is a changed man after time “in the wilderness” these last four years (one is reminded of Nixon’s wandering wilderness days from 1960-1968). Would a changed man have Elon Musk as his right-hand man or have as Vice President JD Vance whose career has been backed by Palantir Technology’s Peter Thiel?
Investigator journalist Whitney Webb has reported extensively on Thiel and Vance’s ties and the interconnections between them and other supporters of the surveillance state tied to the Democrats, such as former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, among others. If you assume the surface war between Trump and the Democrats is the real deal, Webb’s work will have you wondering. They have their differences, of course, but a reading of history would suggest both fully back the surveillance panopticon that has stolen American’s freedom and privacy in the name of what else – freedom and privacy.
Now Trump-Musk-Vance are touting their dedication to free speech and their opposition to censorship, which are clearly admirable goals. But one needs to remember Marshall McLuhan’s adage that the medium is the message, and that the medium touted by Trump – front and center – is represented by the omnipresence of Elon Musk, whose face symbolizes the smirking machine and the use of digital technology to accumulate and exert power. In a digital age, technological technique is King Propaganda, and technique transforms everything it touches into a machine.
As in Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, the brothers Tweedledee Democrat and Tweedledum Republican fight over their rattle as the audience focuses on their battle while their joint racket goes unattended.
‘I know what you’re thinking about,’ Tweedledum; ‘but it isn’t so, no how.’
‘Contrariwise,’ continued Tweedledee, ‘if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn’t, it ain’t. That’s logic.’
‘I was thinking, Alice said very politely, ‘which is the best way out of this wood: it’s getting so dark. Would you tell me please?’
It is dark. Of course, the way out is to stop reacting and do what the press is obligated to do: be skeptical, question authority, and don’t be cheerleaders for anyone in power, whether they be Biden or Trump or someone else.
The opposite of such skepticism has been happening, and many in the alternative press, who [including me] have correctly accused Biden and the Democrats of war crimes, lies, censorship, Russiagate propaganda, etc., are now awash with grandiose praise for Trump, many calling him a revolutionary in a good sense. This is absurd.
Such hyperbole is quite naïve, as has been the calling of Vice-President JD Vance’s Munich Security Conference speech historic and Ciceronian. It was a good speech [text here] in many ways, but . . . .
He rightly ripped the Europeans for their censorship of dissidents and their repression of alternative voices, although his examples were weak and narrowly focused.
His statement, while surely partisan, was true that “I will admit that sometimes the loudest voices for censorship have come not from within Europe, but from within my own country, where the prior administration threatened and bullied social media companies to censor so-called misinformation.”
His defense of democratic mandates was strong when he said:
You cannot win a democratic mandate by censoring your opponents or putting them in jail, whether that’s the leader of the opposition, a humble Christian praying in her own home, or a journalist trying to report the news. Nor can you win one by disregarding your basic electorate on questions like who gets to be a part of our shared society.
When he criticized European leaders for allowing mass migration into their countries, his hypocrisy stood out. As any fair person should recognize, immigration policies have long been an issue in need of reform. But the mass creation of people fleeing their countries for safe havens in Europe are the direct result of US/NATO war policies in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Serbia, Syria, etc., policies supported by Republicans and Democrats alike and seconded by their lapdogs in Europe.
The same is true for immigration here in the U.S.A. where immigration policy has long been in need of reform that neither party would undertake, but the main contingent of immigrants entering this country comes here to escape horrendous conditions in their home countries due in great part to U.S. foreign policies in support of repressive regimes and economic policies favoring the rich amid U.S. efforts to control Latin America. Without those immigrants, the U.S. economy would collapse.
But Vance’s speech is a minor part of my argument here.
The real issue is Trump and the question of whether or not he is for real in his efforts for peace in Ukraine. I am very skeptical and think it is justified.
I am convinced that the US/NATO war against Russia will not be ending unless NATO is dissolved, which Trump is not proposing. He only wishes to strengthen NATO with European money, not that of the U.S. NATO’s only raison d’être is to destroy Russia as an independent country and create regime change there through multiple means. This has always been so. This is why NATO has existed for so long and has expanded. Open warfare in Ukraine is just one means among many they have used over the years. You can end the overt war and continue the covert.
If NATO is not dissolved, the undermining of Russia will continue under Trump, who seems to recognize that the proxy war is lost on the battlefield, a fact obvious for years despite U.S. government and mainstream media propaganda to the contrary – propaganda so blatantly false that it raises questions about people’s gullibility. How many foreign leaders does such media need to call the new Hitlers before people wise up?
Trump’s theatrical antics will persist, however, and Trump and Putin will probably eventually meet and some deal may be struck on Russia’s terms, but if Russia doesn’t want to be tricked again, it should beware the possibility of a Trump Trojan horse.
