Random thoughts in the midst of nihilism.
For my favorite imaginary uncle John (1850-1972), who invented so many things….
Axiom 1: The system you think of in the back of your mind is not the world we live in.
Axiom 2: The theater director plays no role on the stage; his influence is seen in the reflection of his work, namely the public behavior of actors. His system of thought carries them through to the end, like a piece of driftwood in the tide.
Axiom 3: "I am the civilization you are fighting for”
Axiom 4: In contemporary warfare, the process is the purpose. War as just another entrepreneurial enterprise and "victory" and "defeat" are but two aspects of a unified business deal to accumulate capital for the next cycle of production-destruction/depopulation-repopulation, while new mega investment opportunities appear, without borders and without national loyalties.
Axiom 5: Fragmented poems, with jagged edges that cut both ways, threaten the delicate structure of “democratic centralism,” which has yet to morph into a dictatorship of the class of international owners of capital.
The 25+ items below are essays and articles which reflect the contemporary political economy of monopoly capitalism in crisis. As we can see in these presentations, growing economic inequalities have spawned political abuses on an unprecedented scale, which invite mass collaboration under new threats to individual survival: blackmail, bribes, physical harm, and other mind-numbing acts of terrorism – all made of the same cloth.

On Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, the German Chancellor Friedrch Merz made a statement in the Bundestag asserting that he was intent on transforming the Bundeswehr into “the strongest European army”.
But while this policy announcement was welcomed by the United States administration led by Donald Trump which insists that its European partners within NATO take on more of the burden in military spending, as well as by most of the political leaders in the EU who remain steadfast in their resolve to weaken and destroy the Russian state, others, not least the government of the Russian Federation, have responded with concern. Fears that a militarisation of the German mindset would likely accompany the implementation of the Merz plan are not without foundation given the end results of two eras of German rearmament during the 20thcentury. Both disasters were foretold by the German polymath Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
In his time Goethe had a relationship with the German people which transcended a reverence for his literary genius. As was the case with many other giants of German culture who operated in the spheres of philosophy, literature, poetry, art and music, he was greatly inclined to examine the German soul.

In the last 72 hours, 21 children have died of hunger in Gaza. Doctors, journalists, and humanitarian workers are wasting away from starvation, and hundreds have been shot dead at aid centres.
Just 10 days ago, the EU’s top diplomat refused to push for sanctions, claiming she saw “positive signs” from Israel. And now, as the world’s front pages show children reduced to skin and bones, EU leaders want to postpone any action until after their summer break? No way.

Dear friends and supporters,
This month marks a high-point for the Freedom Flotilla's work: the first time in our 15 year history, we have sent a second boat in the same season! Just weeks after Madleen sailed against the blockade in June, Handala left Italy on July 20 and is now just a few days from Palestinian waters off Gaza. As part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the Canadian Boat to Gaza team has been involved with the Handala mission (For the Children of Gaza) from the outset. We put participants on board Handala from when the sailing began from Norway in 2023, and again as Handala visited more European and UK ports in 2024, raising awareness on every port visit about Israel's devastating blockade of Gaza and its horrifying impacts on Palestinian civilians, especially on the children of Gaza.
To those of you who have been able to donate to our
campaign, our deepest gratitude! Your generosity has enabled us to send
Canadians to help at every stage of the Flotilla's work, from planning
missions, scouting vessels and preparing them, to supporting the departure of
our boats from European posts and supporting Flotilla participants on board.
While we were not able to put a Canadian on board Handala for the
current voyage towards Gaza to challenge the blockade, we were delighted to be
able to send Ottawa Dr. Yipeng Ge to
sail with Handala from Siracusa to the final European port of Gallipoli
in southern Italy. Dr. Ge speaks and writes movingly of his experience as a volunteer primary care physician in Gaza
when he delivered a Canadian donation of prosthetic limbs to be sent on Handala
to a partner organization in Gaza that helps Palestinian amputees:

Israel’s religious right unveils its fantasy plan for the zone after ethnic cleansing.
On Tuesday a formal plan for the future of Gaza—as seen by the religious right—was presented to a diverse group of Israeli legislators, rabbis, grieving family members of IDF soldiers lost in combat or in Hamas captivity, and security officials from Gaza. The plan—in English its title is “The Riviera in Gaza—From Vision to Reality”—is a blueprint for a future in Gaza without the Palestinians who now are living and dying there. The meeting was held in the unpretentious second floor Negev Hall in the Knesset in Jerusalem.
At least two journalists from online news organizations that cover the religious right in Israel were invited to attend and publish what they wished. The meeting was headlined by two of Israel’s most outspoken and controversial advocates for the settlement of Israeli citizens in Gaza: Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, a West Bank settler who has a long history of violent anti-Arab agitation and at least eight convictions for violent anti-Arab activities.

I’ve been accused, naturally, and mostly off-site, (emails, in one case a face to face encounter) of distorting the visage, intent, and esprit of Israel, with my coverage.
There have been people here arguing that Gaza is a PSY OP.
Yes, seriously.
That the deaths are exaggerated, that many of the bodies are “clearly fake.” Staged. or AI generated.
Many Israeli accounts are insisting the famine is fake—a position also taken by Bari Weiss’ well funded propaganda outlet, The Free Press.
At one point, I spent a day researching how exactly Gaza deaths are certified. The screenshot below covers enough bases, for the time being, to dismiss this straw man argument. (MoH is the Gaza Ministry of Health.) The only real reason for questionable death count is that a great many bodies are buried under the rubble. A few sites have listed the names and ages of all the dead.

Jews and Christians who dismiss that slaughter as a propaganda lie are only doing the Devil's work.
The only thing more nauseating than the ongoing genocide in Gaza is the readiness of Israel’s Zionist defenders—Jews and Christians alike—to jeer the overwhelming evidence of daily slaughter and deliberate famine, jeering it as “Hamas propaganda.”
There are some urgent points to make against that genocidal claim.
First, all such accomplices to Netanyahu’s flagrant war crimes are actually half-right, since any systematic effort to move millions to a certain thought or action (or inaction) is propaganda—which needn’t necessarily be false. (The word “propaganda” was a term coined by the Vatican four centuries ago, not as a synonym for “lies,” but—on the contrary—to refer to the Church’s efforts to spread the truth, against the devilish doctrines of the Reformation.) Thus I don’t mind acknowledging that my work on this Substack is often propaganda, too, since its frequent purpose is to open people’s eyes to certain awful wrongs, so that those wrongs will end, and their perpetrators finally come to justice.
However, while (technically) correct in calling much of the atrocious news from Gaza “propaganda,” Israel’s fire-breathing champions are dead-wrong in asserting—over and over, and over, and over—that the abundant evidence of genocide is “Hamas propaganda,” there being no evidence that all those daily images of carnage and starvation have been crafted and disseminated by Hamas, however Hamas may or may not benefit from all that grisly spectacle. Certainly the journalists in Gaza, and the other formal monitors of the destruction there, don’t need any Hamas operative(s) to feed them such horrific images, in a ghetto starving under constant heavy fire (which also has, to date, killed over 170 journalists).
As for the sights I’ve posted here (and not just today), I can attest that there is no Hamas connection whatsoever, since I’ve received them from some Palestinian nurses struggling there (women whom I’ve known for years), and not at all politically, but medically, and who see Hamas as enablers of their misery, “hiding while the children die” (as one nurse put it bitterly). In short, these images are genuine, recorded on the spot by local residents, and, therefore, not cunning “propaganda” fakes, contrary to the “Christian” ravings of Mike Huckabee, the tribal rants of Alan Dershowitz (who seems to have topped off his education at Yale Law School with some training by the IDF Spokespersons Unit), and the fierce denials by some few of my readers.
Here it is worth noting that this tactic of dismissing real mass murder as a propaganda fantasy dates back to the Thirties, when everyone remembered how, throughout the first world war, the Allies had successfully portrayed the Kaiser as a devil, and his troops as avid specialists in hellish tortures—impaling babies on bayonets, cutting off the breasts of nurses, crucifying a Canadian soldier, and even rendering the corpses of their own fallen comrades, so the fat could then be used for making candles, nitroglycerine and other stuff essential to Germany’s war effort.
Not long after the war, such wild lies were exposed as such throughout the West, as some erstwhile propagandists came out with the truth about their recent work—confessions that outraged the public, imbuing them with a new incredulity toward such horrendous stories told by their own governments. Although such mass skepticism was, of course, a good thing, by and large, it also served, ironically, to help Dr. Goebbels and his staff convince the world that the Nazis’ real crimes were fabrications, too, which they contemptuously called “atrocity propaganda” (Atrozitätspropaganda). Their use of this deceptive trick began with Hitler’s rise in 1933, when Brownshirts would routinely murder Jews (among others), and did so with a new impunity, since everybody knew that all such tales were lies. As Hitler’s war on European Jewry heated up, and culminated in the vast extermination process, it was always possible to represent the horror as another propaganda lie by those intent on Germany’s destruction.
And now we have Israel’s defenders taking that same line, to deny the ongoing genocide in Gaza—a genocide that must stop now, for the sake not only of the Palestinians still living there, but for Israel as well, and Jewish people everywhere.

In the meantime, Artificial Intelligence (AI), algorithms and the WEF’s Fourth Industrial Revolution have quietly advanced – so the saying goes – so that we, humans, are now at a state of extinction; perhaps?
That is even scarier.
Anyway, that is what the so-called CIA / DARPA / MK-Ultra whistleblower, James Martinez, has to say on the Clayton Morris REDACTED show.
In no uncertain words, he describes what is coming, how mind control with or without implants can and may work, especially with “vaxxed” people, who are particularly sensitive to electromagnetic waves (EMW).
We will progressively become obedient transhumans, who will be gradually replaced by robots and other AI structures.
As WEF advisor Yuval Noah Harari says: “You useless eaters will have to be replaced” – or something to this extent. Meaning, eliminated in one way or another.
Maybe so, because we useless eaters are expensive to the system. Not only because we must be fed, but also because we draw social security and other pension money, for survival, without contributing to the good of the “new” tyrannical society.
These are hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars that could be put to better use, for example, being siphoned off by the upper 1%. That is what happened during the Covid fraud, the lockdowns, when millions of small- and medium-sized enterprises bit the dust, collapsed while leaving shattered assets behind, still, with hardly diminished values.
Guess who “took care” of them with algorithms and AI, almost imperceptibly as the top hundred or so billionaires multiplied their fortunes, whereas the bottom 50% got poorer, lost their homes, got mentally and physically ill — and many died not of Covid, but of Covid-related causes, such as social degradation to despair and even suicide, many, many suicides which, of course were not reported, but were attributed to Covid deaths.
Such times, and much worse, according to Mr. Martinez, may lie ahead, in the not too distant future, at human extinction levels. So, he predicts.
