Today we commemorate the anniversary of the mass murder of the many tens-of-thousands of men, women and children which occurred eighty years ago, in Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6, 1945, at 8:15 a.m., when over 100,000 civilians were killed in the first 7 seconds after the dropping of the atomic bomb, while many others suffered agonizing slow deaths; and countless ruination of human bodies proceeded to unfold in the years to come, following this colossal crime against humanity.
We begin our list below of recent anglophone articles and essays taken from the social media with three important articles and a podcast on the history of this mass murder, all of which contribute to a clarification of events surrounding the American attacks against civilian populations in Hiroshima and three days later in Nagasaki. We once again bring to our readers’ attention the magnitude of this decision to commit mass murder -so instrumental in establishing American hegemony in the name of national security- by launching a Cold War against Russia, thereby aiming to achieve world economic domination in the name of “world peace.”

When I first went to Hiroshima in 1967, the shadow on the steps was still there. It was an almost perfect impression of a human being at ease: legs splayed, back bent, one hand by her side as she sat waiting for a bank to open.
At a quarter past eight on the morning of August 6, 1945, she and her silhouette were burned into the granite.
I stared at the shadow for an hour or more, then I walked down to the river where the survivors still lived in shanties.
I met a man called Yukio, whose chest was etched with the pattern of the shirt he was wearing when the atomic bomb was dropped.
He described a huge flash over the city, “a bluish light, something like an electrical short”, after which wind blew like a tornado and black rain fell.
“I was thrown on the ground and noticed only the stalks of my flowers were left. Everything was still and quiet, and when I got up, there were people naked, not saying anything. Some of them had no skin or hair. I was certain I was dead.”
Nine years later, I returned to look for him and he was dead from leukaemia.
“No radioactivity in Hiroshima ruin” said The New York Times front page on 13 September, 1945, a classic of planted disinformation. “General Farrell,” reported William H. Lawrence, “denied categorically that [the atomic bomb] produced a dangerous, lingering radioactivity.”
Only one reporter, Wilfred Burchett, an Australian, had braved the perilous journey to Hiroshima in the immediate aftermath of the atomic bombing, in defiance of the Allied occupation authorities, which controlled the “press pack”.
“I write this as a warning to the world,” reported Burchett in the London Daily Express of September 5,1945. Sitting in the rubble with his Baby Hermes typewriter, he described hospital wards filled with people with no visible injuries who were dying from what he called “an atomic plague”.
For this, his press accreditation was withdrawn, he was pilloried and smeared. His witness to the truth was never forgiven.
The atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was an act of premeditated mass murder that unleashed a weapon of intrinsic criminality. It was justified by lies that form the bedrock of America’s war propaganda in the 21st century, casting a new enemy, and target – China.
During the 75 years since Hiroshima, the most enduring lie is that the atomic bomb was dropped to end the war in the Pacific and to save lives.
“Even without the atomic bombing attacks,” concluded the United States Strategic Bombing Survey of 1946, “air supremacy over Japan could have exerted sufficient pressure to bring about unconditional surrender and obviate the need for invasion. “Based on a detailed investigation of all the facts, and supported by the testimony of the surviving Japanese leaders involved, it is the Survey’s opinion that … Japan would have surrendered even if the atomic bombs had not been dropped, even if Russia had not entered the war [against Japan] and even if no invasion had been planned or contemplated.”
The National Archives in Washington contains documented Japanese peace overtures as early as 1943. None was pursued. A cable sent on May 5, 1945 by the German ambassador in Tokyo and intercepted by the US made clear the Japanese were desperate to sue for peace, including “capitulation even if the terms were hard”. Nothing was done.
The US Secretary of War, Henry Stimson, told President Truman he was “fearful” that the US Air Force would have Japan so “bombed out” that the new weapon would not be able “to show its strength”. Stimson later admitted that “no effort was made, and none was seriously considered, to achieve surrender merely in order not to have to use the [atomic] bomb”.
Stimson’s foreign policy colleagues — looking ahead to the post-war era they were then shaping “in our image”, as Cold War planner George Kennan famously put it — made clear they were eager “to browbeat the Russians with the [atomic] bomb held rather ostentatiously on our hip”. General Leslie Groves (image on the right), director of the Manhattan Project that made the atomic bomb, testified:
“There was never any illusion on my part that Russia was our enemy, and that the project was conducted on that basis.”
The day after Hiroshima was obliterated, President Harry Truman voiced his satisfaction with the “overwhelming success” of “the experiment”.
The “experiment” continued long after the war was over. Between 1946 and 1958, the United States exploded 67 nuclear bombs in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific: the equivalent of more than one Hiroshima every day for 12 years.
The human and environmental consequences were catastrophic. During the filming of my documentary, The Coming War on China, I chartered a small aircraft and flew to Bikini Atoll in the Marshalls. It was here that the United States exploded the world’s first Hydrogen Bomb. It remains poisoned earth. My shoes registered “unsafe” on my Geiger counter. Palm trees stood in unworldly formations. There were no birds.
I trekked through the jungle to the concrete bunker where, at 6.45 on the morning of March 1, 1954, the button was pushed. The sun, which had risen, rose again and vaporised an entire island in the lagoon, leaving a vast black hole, which from the air is a menacing spectacle: a deathly void in a place of beauty.
The radioactive fall-out spread quickly and “unexpectedly”. The official history claims “the wind changed suddenly”. It was the first of many lies, as declassified documents and the victims’ testimony reveal.

As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings, the world is drifting as close to another nuclear confrontation as it has been in decades.
With Israeli and American attacks on Iranian nuclear energy sites, India and Pakistan going to war in May, and escalating violence between Russia and NATO-backed forces in Ukraine, the shadow of another nuclear war looms large over daily life.
Eighty Years Of Lies
The United States remains the only nation to have dropped an atomic bomb in anger. While the dates of August 6 and August 9, 1945, are seared into the popular conscience of all Japanese people, those days hold far less salience in American society.
When discussed at all in the U.S., this dark chapter in human history is usually presented as a necessary evil, or even a day of liberation—an event that saved hundreds of thousands of lives, prevented the need for an invasion of Japan, and ended the Second World War early. This, however, could not be further from the truth.
American generals and war planners agreed that Japan was on the point of collapse, and had, for weeks, been attempting to negotiate a surrender. The decision, then, to incinerate hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians was one taken to project American power across the world, and to stymie the rise of the Soviet Union.
“It always appeared to us that, atomic bomb or no atomic bomb, the Japanese were already on the verge of collapse,” General Henry Arnold, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Air Forces in 1945, wrote in his 1949 memoirs.
Arnold was far from alone in this assessment. Indeed, Fleet Admiral William Leahy, the Navy’s highest-ranking officer during World War II, bitterly condemned the United States for its decision and compared his own country to the most savage regimes in world history.
As he wrote in 1950:
“It is my opinion that the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender. My own feeling was that in being the first to use it, we had adopted an ethical standard common to the barbarians of the Dark Ages.”
By 1945, Japan had been militarily and economically exhausted. Losing key allies Italy in 1943 and Germany by May 1945, and facing the immediate prospect of an all-out Soviet invasion of Japan, the country’s leaders were frantically pursuing peace negotiations. Their only real condition appeared to be that they wished to keep as a figurehead the emperor—a position that, by some accounts, dates back more than 2,600 years.
“I am convinced,” former President Herbert Hoover wrote to his successor, Harry S. Truman, “if you, as President, will make a shortwave broadcast to the people of Japan—tell them they can have their emperor if they surrender, that it will not mean unconditional surrender except for the militarists—you’ll get a peace in Japan—you’ll have both wars over.”
Many of Truman’s closest advisors told him the same thing. “I am absolutely convinced that had we said they could keep the emperor, together with the threat of an atomic bomb, they would have accepted, and we would never have had to drop the bomb,” said John McCloy, Truman’s Assistant Secretary of War.
Nevertheless, Truman initially took an absolutist position, refusing to hear any Japanese negotiating caveats. This stance, according to General Douglas MacArthur, Commander of Allied Forces in the Pacific, actually lengthened the war. “The war might have ended weeks earlier,” he said, “If the United States had agreed, as it later did anyway, to the retention of the institution of the emperor.” Truman, however, dropped two bombs, then reversed his position on the emperor, in order to stop Japanese society from falling apart.
At that point in the war, however, the United States was emerging as the sole global superpower and enjoyed an unprecedented position of influence. The dropping of the atomic bomb on Japan underscored this; it was a power play, intended to strike fear into the hearts of world leaders, especially in the Soviet Union and China.

In Part 1 we looked at the official account of the October 7th Hamas Attack. In Part 2 we examined the official narrative claiming the attack came as a complete surprise to the Israeli authorities who, as a result, were not prepared to defend the people living, working and partying on the Israeli side of the “Iron Wall.”
In Part 1 we remarked on Hamas’ incredible military feat. Hamas—primarily the Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades and its elite Nukhba Squads, plus a contingent of Islamic Jihad’s al-Quds Brigades—breached the Iron Wall in 29 locations simultaneously. They took out all the automated defences and vital observation and early warning systems, and then proceeded to overrun and hold key military installations. Hamas took the Erez Crossing, the Nahal Oz military base, the Sufa outpost, and the IDF bases close to the Be’eri and Kerem Shalom kibbutzim. The most strategically important base they held was the Re’im military base—home to the primary Israeli defensive force in the region, the IDF Gaza Division.
As we noted in Part 2, even Hamas was supposedly “surprised” by the relative ease with which it took and held these crucial Israeli military positions. There are three stories that have been offered to allegedly account for this.
Hamas was supposedly able to conduct extensive reconnaissance and thoroughly prepared for their operation without any interference from either Israeli intelligence or the Israeli military.
Israeli intelligence “failed” so comprehensively—for more than two years—that Israeli officials had no idea what Hamas was planning, were taken by complete surprise and were thus unprepared to defend the southern Gaza border region.
With the Iron Wall in place, Israeli planners believed Hamas was contained and therefore redeployed the vast bulk of assets defending the southern border region to the West Bank, thereby leaving communities close to Gaza undefended by any significant IDF presence.
A Very Dubious Narrative
We have already discussed why the contention that Israeli intelligence “failed,” to the extent suggested, is preposterous. Indeed, so extensive was the relevant intelligence that the Israeli authorities were known to have had in their possession that the offered official explanation of “failure,” to account for Israeli inaction, is not tenable.

I want to say at the outset that Leading Edge Clinic is one of my proudest achievements, as I believe we have attempted to address the most significant unmet medical need in the world (in my opinion), namely the treatment of post-Covid-19 vaccine injury syndrome and Long Covid. Another rapidly rising need in the wake of the mRNA campaign is the care of cancer patients, to which we responded by building a complementary cancer practice 18 months ago (the clinical success of which you will learn about soon in upcoming posts).

The conflation of Zionism with anti-Semitism is the test in the Zionist lobby case against Australian journalist Mary Kostakidis for her Gaza reporting and the outcome will be of great international significance, says Joe Lauria, editor of Consortium News. TRANSCRIPT I'm speaking from just outside Washington. I remotely watched the entire hearing last week in the case of the Zionist Federation of Australia vs Mary Kostakidis. You can read my account on Consortium News. It was also republished by Pearls and Irritations. I want to make just a few points about this case. First, I know Mary Kostakidis. Like anyone who knows her the idea that she is a bigot, or a racist or an anti-Semite is just totally absurd. The idea that she should wind up in a courtroom before a judge on a charge of violating the country's Racial Discrimination Act is unfathomable. But then we must consider the upside-down period we're living through. It could not be more obvious what is going on here. Mary Kostakidis is opposing a genocide, what any decent person should be doing. But the government that is perpetrating that genocide has activated its "cells" around the world – these cells include powerful governments, intelligence agencies, law enforcement, influential mainstream media, online influencers and lobbyists, like the Zionist Federation of Australia – to punish anyone who is trying to stop Israel from committing its crimes. That includes American university students getting clubbed over the head by riot cops; German anti-genocide protestors beating beaten in the streets of Berlin by police; the Palestine Action group being designated a terrorist organization by the British Home Secretary; British journalists and activists being interrogated at the U.K. border and threatened with prosecution under the Terrorism Act, the ABC sacking Antoinette Lattouf and the Zionist Federation of Australia's action against Mary Kostakidis. The central issue in her case will be whether criticizing Israel is equal to anti-semitic hatred. Mary's barrister rightly focused last week on the July 1 case of Wertheim v. Haddad, in which Justice Angus Stewart ruled that: “ … political criticism of Israel, however inflammatory or adversarial, is not, by its nature, criticism of Jews in general or based on Jewish racial or ethnic identity, and that it is not anti-semitic to criticise Israel ...” It could not be clearer. But will the court in Mary's case be swayed? That's impossible to say at this point. The idea that the court is even taking the Zionist Federation of Australia seriously so far is troubling. If it does not throw the case out altogether it will be alarming. The conflation of Zionism with anti-Semitism is the test here and the outcome will be of enormous international significance. Thus the interest of U.S.-based Consortium News. There is no comparable case in the U.S. – not yet at least – of a journalist – and a very prominent one at that – being hauled into court accused of racial hatred for taking a principled stand against genocide and the government carrying it out. There is no doubt that there has been a huge shift in Western public opinion since Oct.7, 2023 about what Israel is doing. Many human rights organizations, even in Israel, Holocaust scholars, U.N. officials and some governments are calling it genocide. Mounting public pressure on Western governments has made Israel's accomplices belatedly react. They've dipped their toe in the water and are blaming Israel for the starvation in Gaza and some are vowing to recognize the existing Palestinian state. It was a far different political environment back in July 2024 when the Zionist Federation of Australia brought its action against Mary Kostakidis. "What we are witnessing is not erratic. It is methodical. Call it what it is: genocide," Algeria's UN envoy Amar Bendjama told the Council when describing the situation in Gaza.
"No silence can justify it. Future generations will ask, Where were you? Where were you when Gaza was starving? In the Security Council?" he said.
Bendjama referred to testimony shared at the session by a relative of an Israeli hostage, saying: "His brother should never have stayed in captivity if the ceasefire in Gaza was not abruptly breached by the Israeli occupying power."
He criticized Israel for denying the famine and blocking essential supplies and noted that it is "the same occupying power that cut off food, water, electricity and medicine in Gaza."
"What has been allowed very recently into Gaza as humanitarian relief is a drop in the ocean of need. Airdrops are not the solution," Bendjama said, adding that "malnutrition is rampant among all people in Gaza, including, unfortunately, those in captivity. The reality long denied by the Israeli occupying power has never been a secret to anyone."
Stressing that access to humanitarian aid is a legal obligation under the Geneva Conventions, he said: "It's not a favor. It is not negotiable. It cannot be used as a bargaining chip in exchange for those held in captivity."
"Injustice must never, never be normalized. It cannot become the new ordinary," he said.
Pakistan's envoy Asim Iftikhar Ahmed condemned Israel's actions as "grave breaches of international law," highlighting widespread detentions and abuses.
"Nothing can justify the indiscriminate killings, the starvation of an entire population, the collective punishment," Ahmed said.
"Around 9,500 Palestinians, including hundreds of children and women, are currently imprisoned – around one-third without charge or trial. This is a profound violation of basic human rights, and again, totally unacceptable," he said.
He noted that Palestinian children have been killed "at a rate of more than one per hour" since October 2023 and called for "an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire, full Israeli withdrawal, the release of hostages and unimpeded humanitarian access."
"We must not lose sight of the root cause of this ongoing tragedy, and that is Israel's prolonged illegal occupation of Palestinian territory," he stressed, reaffirming that "peace will remain elusive" as long as occupation exists.

Experts have warned that the 8.8 magnitude quake that hit off Russia, the largest earthquake in more than a decade, could set off a chain of volcanic eruptions across the Pacific Ocean ‘Ring of Fire’ putting millions of lives at risk on all sides of the ocean. The Klyuchevskoy volcano in eastern Russia began erupting shortly after the earthquake, according to the the Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Cameras observing the volcano captured “explosions” and a “powerful glow above the volcano”, with “a descent of hot lava ... observed on the western slope”, the academy wrote on messaging app Telegram. A representative for the US Geological Survey (USGS) told Live Science the volcano had been “showing signs of unrest” in the weeks leading up to the earthquake. “While yesterday’s large earthquake did not cause the eruption to begin, it did likely increase in the vigour of the eruption including some ash emission,” the USGS representative said. Klyuchevskoy, which rises 4754 meters above sea level on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire. The Ring of Fire is an enormous belt of active and dormant volcanoes that surrounds most of the Pacific Ocean. It runs from southern Chile, up the west coast of the Americas, through the islands off Alaska and down Japan to the Philippines. Some geologists also include an Indonesian chain of volcanoes in the ring. Experts have now warned that the earthquake could trigger volcanic eruptions. “The volcanoes in volcanic arcs, including Chile, the US Cascades, Japan, Indonesia and Kamchatka, are prone to erupt after earthquakes,” Michael Manga, a geoscientist at the University of California, Berkeley, told The Daily Mail. He said volcanoes in the westernmost part of the Ring of Fire, covering Russia, Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia, were at increased risk. Tsunami waves have hit the US mainland after the world’s biggest earthquake in 14 years sparked warnings for millions in the northern hemisphere. However, the US’ Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has said the threat to America has now “passed completely” by Wednesday afternoon, US time. Waves did hit the US however. One more than 1 metre in height hit Crescent City in northern California on Wednesday morning, local time. In Japan, wave heights reached more than 1.2 metres in the Kuji Port and Hamanaka areas. Tokyo said its nuclear power plants, including Fukushima on the coast which was the victim of a previous tsunami, were safe. The worst-hit nation has been Russia with waves in some places of more than three metres and possibly up to five. Images from the Pacific town of Severo-Kurilsk show damage caused by the waves including a fish processing plant that was washed away.
