Dear Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,
In the opinion of many observers, the ruling classes have never been as suicidal and destructive to their own nations as the events we are experiencing today. The new technologies of social control seem to have intoxicated them, and there appears no limit to their ambitions to become the exclusive occupants of the planet, or at least the complete masters of a drastically reduced population over which a few oligarchs may rule as they please. This childish fantasy of total control would be laughable if it were not for the weapons they intend to employ their delusion of bringing the masses to heel. There is no small number of ordinary people who might be convinced that all this is for the better --submissive vassals, voluntary servitude, and even conditional life-after-death, all have their appeal to proponents in the cultures of the “repressive tolerance” found among the dominated. To a large degree much of our thinking is governed by the exclusive self-interests of a ruling class, often born into privilege; only our recognition of the contradictions within these received ideas can break through this cultural alliance, while much effort and money is spent to prevent this rupture in cultural hegemony, but still this delusion is never entirely secure.

As always, these critical views express the recognition of contradictions in our lives and the lives around us, and they suggest actions that might alleviate the burden of being dominated by the unseemly amoral class of predators and opportunists who stand above us and have infiltrated our daily lives to our extreme disadvantage.

The problem in Gaza is not that Israel is committing “disproportionate attacks.” The problem has not been that Israel is in even an egregious breach of the laws of war... The problem is that Israel is acting out the logic of genocide. And that’s very different because ultimately, if you use the framework of the laws of war, then what’s tacit in using that framework is that Israel ultimately wants to achieve a military victory. If you take, for example, the period from March 18th of this year, when Israel terminated the ceasefire, until the end of August, do you know how many Gazans have been killed in that period? The estimate is 12,000. You know how many Israeli soldiers were killed in that period? 50. The ratio is 1 to 240. Does that sound like a war, or does that sound like an extermination? Useful Idiots: That makes it striking how ridiculous it is to call this a war. Norman Finkelstein: Israel’s apologists have a funny argument right now. They say, ‘If you really believe there is a genocide in Gaza, then why don’t you advocate opening up the border [which would be ethnic cleansing]?’ Well, I have another idea. Israel has sworn to stop the Gaza-bound flotilla, claiming the volunteers are trying to “breach a lawful naval blockade”, but international law is clear on allowing humanitarian aid through. It’s a sentiment more and more people can identify with as dark, dangerous, and duplicitous news reports loot the public’s mind of any sense of logical understanding by presenting stories that contradict themselves, while inducing great anxiety. Double-binds, Catch 22s, contronymal cages meant to trap the public in impossible conundrums.
(A contronym is a word having two definitions that contradict each other. Two examples are the word bolt, which can mean to lock with a bolt and to flee, and clip, which means to attach and to detach.)
Chaos reigns, as it is meant to do, as the Bill of Rights is stripped, Palestinians are slaughtered, nuclear war becomes more likely, and the crackdown on dissent increases dramatically under the second Trump administration. Today’s operation chaos, with its spying on American citizens, etc., makes the CIA’s previous illegal Operation Chaos (1967-74) spying operation seem quaint by comparison. Today’s surveillance is synonymous with the Internet and digital technology. It is getting very dark indeed.
The American oligarchic political system that is endlessly debated and fixates people’s attention is a contronymal system that contains positive and negative poles that cancel each other out while keeping the believer frozen and frustrated. It is essentially Orwell’s Doublethink with a twist, which is the ability to hold two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously and accept both as true; such is a mainstay of effective propaganda.
Once you are in it, you are trapped because there are no outside references – the simulated system of thought is your cage. Biden vs. Trump is an example of this cage, a cage created to keep people ensnared in confusion.
The Trump administration, working for the 1% and Israel, is creating a strategy of tension between social groups not seen since the CIA run Operation Gladio throughout Europe after WWII that involved assassinations, bombings, etc. that were blamed on communists. In other words, false flag operations meant to inflame the public through deception.
