The 97th country by population, it is the ninth largest arms dealer in the world with a $13bn military-industrial complex. "Plenty of countries sell weapons," says award-winning journalist Antony Loewenstein, "but what makes Israel's industry unique is the mix of weapons, surveillance technology and architectural techniques that combine to create a comprehensive system for controlling 'difficult' populations and are based on years of experience in Palestine." In this two-part series, Loewenstein goes on a journey to investigate how these weapons and surveillance technologies are used to control and repress Palestinians in Palestine before being sold all over the world. Antony Loewenstein is a Jewish, Australian journalist and author who for more than 20 years has written unflinchingly about Israel and its relationship with the Palestinians, even though it has often put him at odds with many in the Jewish diaspora and Israel. In Episode 1, Loewenstein returns to Israel to investigate how cutting-edge military and surveillance technology is being used on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip, before being marketed to international clients as "field-proven" and "battle-tested". Hearing from Palestinians and Israelis, he uncovers how a pipeline of personnel and research from the Israeli army feeds into semi-private arms companies which form a crucial part of Israel's exports to the world. He also investigates the Israeli army's use of targeting systems that utilise artificial intelligence during the Gaza war after October 7, 2023.

In Episode 2 of "The Palestine Laboratory", journalist and author Antony Loewenstein investigates how surveillance and military technology developed by Israel and tested on Palestinians is marketed abroad. He finds out how the latest Israeli technology is being used to monitor refugees and migrants in Greece and along the US-Mexico border. Loewenstein visits Mexico to explore its use of Israeli spyware and travels to India to find out how a thriving arms trade is fostering close links between the two nations. In South Africa, he uncovers a hidden aspect of the country's history which saw a secret relationship between the apartheid-era government and Israel centred on a clandestine arms trade and shared values. What he reveals is a picture of how the "technology of occupation" developed on Palestinians is also used to subjugate people and surveil political dissidents, human rights defenders and journalists all over the world. Loewenstein concludes by asking if the countries buying these systems are actually looking for more than just another weapon, but instead buying into a wider ideology of the separation and control of "unwanted" populations, be they protesting farmers, political dissidents, or refugees.

Modern historians have identified many leitmotifs over the past many centuries in an effort to explain how our surroundings influence our behavior.
Against the leitmotif behind the on-going debate over Israel as “an Imperial American Aircraft carrier which must be sunk” vs. Israel as the inspired creation of “an historic moral project to save humanity from self-destruction and ultimately from extinction” we discover in the foreground an increasing number of manufactured complexities serving as smokescreens to hide the significance of real events.
Another leitmotif is the current depopulation drive led by oligarchs, who are supported by industries and rents that make them rich and enable them to rule over us and achieve their objectives by waging endless war. (The twin motives of these endless wars are the private profits they generate and population reduction.) In addition, contributing to the cause of depopulation is the interminable increase of toxins on the market, occasionally labeled with perfunctory “buyer beware” notices in fine print attached. In short, the free market system has become suicidal, and its leaders, to quote Barack Obama, have become self-acknowledged “damn good killers.”
A third historic leitmotif is that of orchestrated popular submission, achieved by identifying and provoking an “indispensable enemy,” such as was manifested in the historic anti-Russian crusade in the west which has coveted the immense wealth of vast natural resources in Russia. In different periods of history, various ideological justifications for war with Russia have been produced, but the economic interests have not changed. These three elements, in one form or another, have constituted the background for western capitalist development over the past two centuries, and more.

- Well, you’re living this story now, along with the rest of the world!
The 26+ items below reflect the continuities and the ruptures with past events and institutions. The conflicts between social class interests are a constant throughout human history; the technologies of social repression are sometimes innovative and bare great results, but they are never permanent. Ridding the world of inferior populations is pregnant with contradictions, and stands as a proven pipe dream, fatal for those who advocate it.
In the last analysis, we live in the same space, influenced by the same changing environment.
Ultimately, we will rise and go down together.

The UN Security Council resolution that endorses US President Donald Trump's 20-point plan for Gaza is in breach of the fundamental norms of international law, and is therefore legally invalid, a top international law expert told Middle East Eye. On Monday, the Security Council approved Security Council Resolution 2803, which backs the creation of an international stabilisation force and places Trump in supreme control of Gaza. It also names his "board of peace" as the entity that will oversee the implementation of the plan for a period of two years. The involvement of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair in this has been widely touted. Ralph Wilde, a leading international law academic and practitioner, told MEE that the resolution attempts to codify "trusteeship" over Gaza, a colonial arrangement that breaches the Palestinians' right to self-determination. "Trusteeship conducted by individual states in the colonial era was a self-serving sham invoked in bad faith, serving as an alibi to rationalise colonial rule, which could be justified as a 'civilising mission'," Wilde said, speaking from Ramallah in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Ils ne sont pas nombreux ceux qui, en Israël, veulent une paix solide et durable, sur la base du droit et le la justice, et encore moins dans le monde politique. Itzak Rabin, ce premier ministre d'Israël qui entendait courageusement créer les conditions de la paix, fut l'un de ces rares politiques lucides, ce qui lui a coûté la vie. Son assassinat en 1995 par un extrémiste a, on le voit, des conséquences désastreuses jusqu'à aujourd'hui.
Le Comité de l'Isère du Mouvement de la Paix s'associe à cet hommage rendu à un acteur sincère de la paix.

Documents obtained by The Grayzone reveal how British soldiers and spies censor news reporting on ‘national security,’ coercing reporters into silence. The files show the Committee boasting of a “90% + success rate” in enforcing the official British line on any controversial story – or disappearing reports entirely.
A new trove of documents obtained by The Grayzone through freedom of information (FOI) requests provide unprecedented insight into Britain’s little-known military and intelligence censorship board. The contents lay bare how the secretive Defence and Security Media Advisory (DSMA) Committee censors the output of British journalists, while categorizing independent media as “extremist” for publishing “embarrassing” stories. The body imposes what are known as D-Notices, gag-orders systematically suppressing information available to the public.
The files provide the clearest view to date of the inner workings of the opaque committee, exposing which news items the British national security state has sought to shape or keep from public view. These include the bizarre 2010 death of a GCHQ codebreaker, MI6 and British special forces activity in the Middle East and Africa, the sexual abuse of children by government officials, and the death of Princess Diana.
The files show the shadowy Committee maintains an iron grip over the output of legacy British media outlets, transforming British journalists to royal court stenographers. With the Committee having firmly imposed themselves on the editorial process, a wide range of reporters have submitted “apologies” to the board for their media offenses, flaunting their subservience in order to maintain their standing within British mainstream media.
In addition, the documents also show the Committee’s intentions to extend the D-Notice system to social media, stating its desire to engage with “tech giants” in a push to suppress revealing disclosures on platforms like Meta and Twitter/X.

Israel’s intensifying attacks on Lebanon culminated with unannounced airstrikes on the capital on Sunday, in what Hezbollah’s deputy political leader said “crossed a new red line”. Five people were killed and 28 wounded in strikes Israel said targeted a senior Hezbollah commander, but hit Beirut’s densely populated Southern Suburb of Dahiyeh. Haytam Ali Tabatabai, Israel’s stated target, was killed. It’s just one of over 10,000 breaches by Israel of the year-long ceasefire with Hezbollah, documented by UN military forces in Lebanon. Lebanon’s health ministry says at least 331 people have been killed and 1,000 wounded in these attacks.The UN has confirmed at least 127 civilian deaths, noting the real count is likely to be higher.

This video is very thought-provoking. What is explained here is a mechanism for debt-operated huge-scale corruption and crime that we also see in the Global South (cf CADTM’s initial focus). At least, it SHOULD be considered criminal, though as we see daily, there is no international court or institution independent enough or powerful enough to override these Western governments that act as covers for their own banks and big creditors.
I'd never heard a résumé of the entire ongoing "scam" (a litotic but handy word, like "debt") from WWI to the present day, but actually it doesn’t surprise me for several reasons.
Firstly, this is consistent with the reasoning and practices underlying colonization, exploitation and Western imperialism generally… (Possibly all imperialism... I’m not well-enough informed about that, but I have scraps of impressions about for example the Russian, Ottoman or Roman Empires.) Not for nothing do the “great religions” forbid usury!
Secondly, it is consistent with the debt mechanism as described in “The Debt System” (title of a book by Eric Toussaint we translated) and other texts that I and our team have been translating since 1996 for the CADTM* examining how the mechanism functions and describing its various applications in the modern world. Critical to the CADTM’s analysis are the criteria enabling condemnation of debt found in international law of odiousness, illegitimacy, illegality and unsustainability. Initially we only considered this in the Third World or the Global South, but now globally. In his work Eric researches this mechanism in many different contexts… recently, in the French Revolution, and back in 2015 the Greek situation since Greece was tricked out of any real independence in the 1820s thanks to loans by the big banks of Britain, France, Russia and Germany, and has never shaken off that debt… (actually Eric has identified the same mechanism back in olden times but I have no examples at hand).
The third reason is even older: it is my personal gradual (ongoing) understanding of how the world functions, prior to meeting Eric and joining the CADTM in 1996. It began with living in Zambia where my father (a fervid anticolonialist and antiracist) took up work as a veterinary surgeon, first for the UK’s MOD (well paid) then for the Zambian government (much less so!)… in all he and my mother were there for 14 years. Before that, in primary school, we had talked about Africa and all the pink bits on the schoolroom globe that were the British Empire upon which the sun never set. What I retained mainly was that it was very, very hot and very, very wet and that African girls had babies at 9 years old! (In fact, I don’t think my primary-school teacher, Miss Davy whom we mentioned the other day, had caught on to the independences of India, Ghana, etc because this was in 1961 or 1962, when I was 9 or 10!) In those days I loved reading about the exciting voyages of discovery of Africa, Asia, the New World… My life has been a succession of awakenings to ever more heinous behaviour by governments and institutions one might have expected to behave so much better! I discovered the ruthless dictatorships of e.g. South America, the torture and disappearances, and was a very active member of Amnesty International in the 70s. Of course being in Zambia we were acutely aware of Apartheid In South Africa, which we duly boycotted (unlike Barclays Bank, Shell and many other notorious transnational corporations, despite UN-sanctioned sanctions… ). But it was when I got into Postcolonial literature (1980s) that I really grew aware of how it all hangs together and how it has been going on, at least since those voyages of discovery and early trading of spices, sugar, tobacco, cotton…
One of the biggest shocks, that emerged from an Algerian student’s research in Grenoble, was that the venture capital companies financing the expeditions themselves and more significantly, the slave-trade, still live on in immense wealth and on a different planet from normal people today. The Merchant Venturers, founded about 500 years ago, still carry on functioning and meeting every two years … Members are bankers and financiers, the wealthiest and poshest families as you would expect, including, for example, King Charles (Prince at the time we unearthed this) and other royals. They have carried on regardless over 5 centuries, sailed through slavery, abolition, colonisation, decolonisation, world wars… and are still nursing wealth and power unscathed and unnoticed!

Being a good American meant promoting, with this paper thing over half your face, the new big idea that death was everywhere, on every surface, in every air space, and you (the good American) would do your part to “fight” it. To render the world death free and risk free—un-liveable.

Of what were they so petrified that it called for the destruction of the nation?
It was a drawing. A drawing that became animated by mass media indoctrination to represent the new threat, for nothing fuels national identity so much as rallying behind a common enemy, no questions asked.
Research, thought, knowledge, discernment—all threats to the new American ideal.
If, after Pearl Harbor, American-ism meant enlisting in the war, likely to face death, this end stage national psychosis reduced it to an absurd expression of paranoia, using the symbolic “mask” to express a fear of death so great the brain shuts down entirely. And this was pre-programmed by decades of softening, poisoning, and coddling, until Americans were large, waddling babies, with diapers strapped on their heads—a silent, deranged cry for state sponsored infantalization.

The book was banned by Amazon in Germany, Austria, and The Netherlands in 2022. Until today, there was never any proof that it had been officially banned in Germany by the German authorities, although it was removed from distribution in Germany at the same time that Amazon banned it. It remains available in all other countries, and is distributed globally by Amazon and Ingram Content Group.
Today’s visit puts any doubt about whether the book is officially banned in Germany to rest. It is officially banned. And I am being criminally investigated and intimidated by the German authorities for the “crime” of writing, publishing, and distributing it.
This new investigation, the search of my home, and confiscation of my computer are blatantly unconstitutional, a brazen violation of my rights as an author and publisher under Germany’s Basic Law (Grundgesetz).
I will of course be taking legal action to defend those rights.

My last post, on Trump’s use of “martyr” Charlie Kirk to enflame his most ferocious acolytes to the point of civil war, provoked some pushback by true believers in King Crab, who were miffed that I did not attack “Joe Biden” and the Democrats as well, or instead.
Such hero-worshippers somehow missed the fact that I did, throughout that post on Kirk’s “assassination,” and the two before it, tear into “Biden” and “his” toxic party; and they also somehow forgot, or didn’t know, that, throughout the “Biden” years, I flayed “him” and “his” party in post after post, and had repeatedly debunked the fraud of “Russia-gate,” just as I then joined those exposing “January 6” as a colossal fraud. But Trump is now in power; and so my current focus is on him (and when the Democrats sweep the midterms, and double down on their insane agenda, my focus will quite rightly be on them).
In any case, there’s just no budging dedicated tribalists, whether they be on the “left” or on the right; but I wonder how Trump’s MAHA wing will take the jolting, although really not surprising, news (broken by Helena, below) that Trump adores Big Pharma, just as much as he loves all the poisonous cartels that place profit über alles, and just as much as he continues to extol—and even take—the “great,” “safe,” “beautiful,” “wonderful” COVID “vaccine”: “one of the greatest achievements of mankind,” as he told Candace Owens; a “medical miracle,” with which “we’ve saved millions of lives.”
Some day (if any) only a few gibbering cranks will still believe that Trump is on the side of We the People (except for those who don’t share his opinion of himself). For now, let MAHA take in the painful news that Trump, for all intents and purposes, is Big Pharma, just as he’s Big Tech, Big Food, and (as he would have us call them now) the war contractors—all immense and interlocking enemies of the people, whom we should all therefore be fighting, instead (as I have often said) of fighting with “the other side.”

Excess Deaths in the United Kingdom: Midazolam and Euthanasia in the COVID-19 Pandemic https://www.researchgate.net/publicat... Macro-data during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom (UK) are shown to have significant data anomalies and inconsistencies with existing explanations. This paper shows that the UK spike in deaths, wrongly attributed to COVID-19 in April 2020, was not due to SARS-CoV-2 virus, which was largely absent, but was due to the widespread use of Midazolam injections, which were statistically very highly correlated (coefficient over 90%) with excess deaths in all regions of England during 2020. Importantly, excess deaths remained elevated following mass vaccination in 2021, but were statistically uncorrelated to COVID injections, while remaining significantly correlated to Midazolam injections. The widespread and persistent use of Midazolam in UK suggests a possible policy of systemic euthanasia. Unlike Australia, where assessing the statistical impact of COVID injections on excess deaths is relatively straightforward, UK excess deaths were closely associated with the use of Midazolam and other medical intervention. The iatrogenic pandemic in the UK was caused by euthanasia deaths from Midazolam and also, likely caused by COVID injections, but their relative impacts are difficult to measure from the data, due to causal proximity of euthanasia. Global investigations of COVID-19 epidemiology, based only on the relative impacts of COVID disease and vaccination, may be inaccurate, due to the neglect of significant confounding factors in some countries.
