The World Health Organization has a mandate to compile and disseminate statistics on mortality, and we have been tracking the progression of the COVID-19 pandemic since the beginning of 20201. Reported statistics on COVID-19 mortality are problematic for many countries owing to variations in testing access, differential diagnostic capacity and inconsistent certification of COVID-19 as cause of death. Beyond what is directly attributable to it, the pandemic has caused extensive collateral damage that has led to losses of lives and livelihoods. Here we report a comprehensive and consistent measurement of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic by estimating excess deaths, by month, for 2020 and 2021. We predict the pandemic period all-cause deaths in locations lacking complete reported data using an overdispersed Poisson count framework that applies Bayesian inference techniques to quantify uncertainty. We estimate 14.83 million excess deaths globally, 2.74 times more deaths than the 5.42 million reported as due to COVID-19 for the period. There are wide variations in the excess death estimates across the six World Health Organization regions. We describe the data and methods used to generate these estimates and highlight the need for better reporting where gaps persist. We discuss various summary measures, and the hazards of ranking countries’ epidemic responses.

Dear Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,
The question has been raised, are we safe from the deceptions of oligarchs who control the media outlets, political policy decisions, and major financial institutions?
Today, are Jews and Palestinians the mere playthings in a master game of identity politics being played by corporate capitalists with investment opportunities in wartime profiteering, and are Ukrainians, in a different part of the world, safe from being playthings in an Anti-Russian ploy which has proven to be useful in the pursuit of still another round of capital accumulation?
Modern warfare no longer aims at decisive military victory, but quite the contrary –the perpetuation of war today is more profitable than an early victory. (Kissinger/Nixon’s “unnecessary” prolongation of the Vietnam War after the 1968 presidential election is a case in point; this war was extended for four more years when LBJ’s negotiations were sabotaged and the Democratic candidate, Vice-president Hubert Humphrey, was defeated. The Republican Party won the Presidency with Richard Nixon’s deceptive promise of ending this war. The Vietnam War formally ended on April 30, 1975, following US withdrawal beginning in 1973. Capitalist investors continued to invest in this war for more than four years following Nixon’s election. The terms of the final peace agreement under Nixon was essentially the same as what LBJ had offered in 1968.)
The cultural resistance in the US anti-war movement was a broad-based, radical challenge to US militarism, as reflected in a Pete Seeger song, written in 1955 and sung by dozens of artists during Vietnam War protests across America and beyond: "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" (Performed here by the famous anti-war trio, “Peter, Paul, and Mary”).
Meanwhile, the fundamental contradiction of capitalism remains alive, as always, “the exploitation of labor”: by virtue of their private ownership, capitalist owners of the means of production expropriate routinely from workers a portion of the value of what they have produced in exchange for Nothing, while workers are allowed to keep what remains of the value they have produced, in the guise of “wages,” “salaries,” or “bonuses”. This cycle of labor exploitation is completed when what the capitalist owners have expropriated from “their workers” is sold on the “free market”. The “surplus” value that they accumulate is then used by them to purchase their own luxuries and/or to invest in the next cycle of production, again exploiting labor to accumulate more capital.
Another way of looking at this contradictory relationship is that all workers are allowed to draw some benefits from their own labor, which can be mathematically calculated to equal a fixed percentage of their work day, or a portion of what they produced in a specific time frame. In other words, all workers, as a category, in order to keep their jobs must work a certain amount of time for no remuneration. This exploitation can be measured by the number of hours and minutes of unpaid labor per day, or by the actual sum of payment they receive for their labor over a given period compared to the monetary market value of the sales of the products they produced. (For example, in the classic situation of a 40-hour work week, a worker might discover she was paid for only 20 hours of work, and the other 20 hours of value that she produced became "surplus value" in the hands of the capitalist owners who employed her; or a worker might discover that she generated a total market value of $1,000 a week over a period of one month, but received an income of $1,000 a month, and that the remaining $3,000 which was expropriated by the owners as “surplus value,” was left totally under their control to do with as they wish.
All this requires a massive collaboration within society, and the propaganda is fierce to coerce the public to cooperate with their own subjugation for the benefit of a minority of profiteers. The “surplus value” from this “free labor” production which is routinely extracted from workers at all levels includes the “private profits” belonging exclusively to the capitalist owners, who use various de-contextual justifications, like “our money does the work for us”, or “it is just God’s will.” But today, in the era of robotics, where human labor requirements are reduced and “surplus populations” are identified by capitalist oligarchs as “the looming problem for society,” we are faced with the great capitalist contradiction that workers whose labor is a “commodity” are also necessary “consumers,” buying back (either directly or indirectly) from capitalist owners what they themselves have produced, and that capitalist profits are forthcoming for the most part only when workers purchase the products of their own alienated labor. One answer to this conundrum has been WAR PRODCTION: capitalists can pay workers to “produce destruction” for capitalist profits; then rebuild on top of the ruins, producing further profits for the owners, and at the same time they declare their intention to reduce the population of unproductive people (a.k.a. the “surplus population”), once again for private profit and social control.
Thus, we see corporate capitalism must cripple society and ultimately destroy itself in order to survive a little longer. The process is evil, and it cannot continue forever. But no one participating in the western hegemon today can easily envision a future society which promotes self-determination without de facto cannibalism. Such foresight seems to be beyond the ilk of contemporary corporate capitalists and their supporters, as this class charges forward in the same direction toward the finish line for private gain and ultimately for self-destruction.

The imperialist Behemoth, born from centuries of capitalist accumulation, exhibits a plethora of inherent contradictions. Since Jan 30, and the latest release of genuinely shocking new Epstein files, the world has been feverishly trying to identify the redacted recipient of Epstein’s 2008 email saying: “I loved the torture video.”
Many accounts, using court documents, and other cross-referencing data points, identified a very likely candidate, (not 100% confirmed.)
(But why is the name redacted/protected, DOJ? He’s not a survivor, he’s an inflictor.)
As you read on, you will see why this figure will soon take center stage in the Epstein story, regardless of whether he is or is not the “torture video” redacted name. It goes way deeper.
One investigator and whistleblower in the UK has stated that his friend, Katherine Frisk, was murdered, “…to cover up the alleged blackmail operation,” “…just 48 hours after publishing material” on this individual in The International Reporter.
The individual has been identified in court documents as having “left bloody marks” on a woman Epstein offered her up to. And the two have exchanged some 1,200 emails, and Epstein called him his “best friend.”
Furthermore, as I have reported in the past, this
figure links back to a famous AIDS activist, very close to Anthony Fauci. This
individual reaches through Epstein, JP Morgan, Barclays Bank, Deutsche Bank,
blackmail of the UK Parliament, Tony Blair, AIDS activism and various LGBTQ and
transgender groups and NGOs—that’s just a short list of how deep this story
reaches.

Michael Parenti explores how propaganda works in relation to human cognition or “How to think about what we think”.
Parenti says, “We know truth exists because liars exist.” Since we perceive with our mind and not our eyes,
our perception is already limited by our convictions. He calls this the “Prevailing orthodoxy” or “Dominant paradigm”,
which can be described as “conformity of bias.” This conformity of bias in a highly indoctrinated society passes for objectivity.
This is why reality is radical. Says Parenti: “Heterodoxy is more reliable since it is constantly challenged and tested.”
To celebrate the life of one of my greatest mentors I have been going through old hard drives and spools of DVDS
to find old shows featuring Michael Parenti. As I go, I’ll pick out some other shows of note,
upload them to Youtube and restore them to the website while I’m at it.
Godaddy decided that they were going to start charging me $1200 a year to park WMV files at one point
so I downloaded and deleted those files from the FTP. This folder somehow got deleted from my laptop
when I was on the Golden Rule tour. Three- or 4-years’ worth of shows in WMD format were lost.
I found these in a backup folder on an old hard drive yesterday!
This is where I got the Michael Parenti talk that I upload yesterday.
This current talk was in the first spool of DVDs I went through. There are several more.
So, if you are rifling through my website and come across an old show that comes up “file not found”, it is one of those shows.
There is probably not enough time in my life to restore all those shows.
However, if you come across one that you simply can’t live without, contact me and I’ll upload it to Youtube.
There were roughly a decade and a half of Pirate TV broadcasts before I created the website and started putting the shows online.
These are in boxes full of VCR tapes.

87-year-old Holocaust survivor from Budapest who has been protesting against
Israel’s war on Gaza, which he describes as not only genocide but a holocaust.
Stephen is a member of Holocaust Survivors Against Genocide. Stephen lost 15
members of his extended family in the Holocaust and his father was interned in
Belsen & Theresienstadt. He settled in London but when he visited Israel
was “shocked” by the racism exhibited by Israelis, including his relatives who
had also survived the Holocaust. Stephen joined The Labour Party in 1997,
becoming an activist and office-holder at various local levels. Stephen
resigned from the Labour party, after penning a widely circulated letter, after
the Labour party warned him they would “investigate” him if he spoke at a
leftist organization on Holocaust Memorial Day. He is a member of Camden branch
of PSC (Palestine Solidarity Campaign), Camden & Islington Momentum (affiliate
of the Labour Party) and lately of the small network ‘Holocaust Survivors and
Descendants Against Genocide.’ Haim Bresheeth Zabnner was Professor of Media
and Cultural Studies at University of East London and then a Professorial
Research Associate at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).He is
Filmmaker, photographer, film studies scholar, and historian. His films include
“A State of Danger,” a documentary on the first Palestinian Intifada. His books
include "An Army Like No Other: How the Israel Defense Force Made a
Nation." Haim is the son of two Holocaust survivors and was raised in
Israel. He is a member of Holocaust survivors and Descendents Against the
Genocide and a founding member of Jewish Network for Palestine. On November 4,
Haim was arrested over a speech he gave at a pro Palestine demonstration
outside the residence of Israeli ambassador Tzipi Hotovely in north London.

Among other things, the new law ends the monopoly of Venezuela's stated-owned oil company, PDVSA, and paves the way for U.S. and other foreign oil companies to invest in and profit from Venezuela's proven oil reserves, which are the largest in the world. Dimitri Lascaris has travelled to Caracas to learn more about this new law. For this purpose, he has interviewed two experts in the Venezuelan oil industry, one who praises the new law and one who criticizes it forcefully. In this report, Lascaris speaks with Alejandro Terán, a Venezuelan-American who owns a small operation in the oilfields of Texas. Terán divides his time between Venezuela and the United States. In the interview, Terán explains why he applauds the new law and the government of Delcy Rodriguez. He speaks highly of former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Lascaris and Terán also discuss the U.S. petro-dollar, the allegation that President Maduro was involved in the drug trade, and Venezuela's relations with Russia and China. Following his discussion with Terán, Lascaris interviewed Carlos Mendoza Potellá, an economics professor at Venezuela's Central University. Mendoza is a former advisor to Venezuela's Central Bank and Venezuela's former ambassador to the Soviet Union and Saudi Arabia. Mendoza is highly critical of the new petroleum law. Badly hurt a week ago, I was sent to Bellevue Hospital, NYC's "leading center for trauma recovery." I'm now recovering from the trauma of my 2 days there. (This is why I haven't posted all last week).
In the wee hours of last Monday morning, I took a fall in my bedroom—a bad fall, though I didn’t know it at the time. The EMT’s who came to check me out found me well enough, since I hadn’t hit my head, and felt only a mild soreness in my right side. But, next morning, I woke up in agony, as the ribs on that side screamed at every movement, and with every cough or hiccup; so my wife, Amy, called the EMTs again, and they took us both to the Greenwich Village Lenox Hill ER on 7th Ave. They did a CT scan, and found that I had four broken ribs—two displaced, two fractured.
Since that hospital has no trauma unit, they sent us over to Bellevue Hospital some ten hours later, when a bed became available. Long notorious for its psychiatric wards (Norman Mailer, Edie Sedgwick and Mark David Chapman all did time there), Bellevue is now the city’s “leading center for trauma recovery.” I’m here to tell you that Bellevue is itself traumatic, despite the “caring” propaganda written on its walls. (“It’s an honor to be taking care of you,” it said everywhere you looked—but it ought to say, “Abandon all hope, ye who enter here!”)
Though some of Bellevue’s staff—mostly those with no careerist interest in the hospital, but also one doctor, and, especially, physical and occupational therapists, and a social worker—were human beings, it was my luck to be “treated”—scorned, neglected, even threatened—by personnel for whom the corporation mattered most of all. They served it, not me; and if I somehow “broke the rules,” or argued with the diktats of their superiors (they kept referring vaguely to authorities above them, especially the Pharmacy), they became cold and arrogant, smirking at my dissidence, without hearing anything I said. This in spite of the abundant literature, throughout the journals read (or not) by doctors and pharmacists, on how practitioners must “gain the patient’s trust,” by “listening to the patient,” and on and on.
We arrived at Bellevue a little after midnight—our second sleepless night, as, first, we had to wait 2.5 hours to be seen, and not by any team, nor an attending, but by a resident, who blathered mainly about “hospital policy.” Finally, after many a complaint by Amy, I got some pain medication, five hours after my arrival.
