Object: ON THE LAST BROADCAST OF THE HISTORIC PBS PRODUCTION, "BILL MOYERS JOURNAL".

6 May 2010
Grenoble, France

Dear Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,

Two titans on the landscape of American political culture --whether you agree with them
or not-- joining such names as Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Studs Terkel, Edward Herman,
Michael Albert, Michael Parenti, and Bertell Ollman, are: Bill Moyers and Jim Hightower.

These two influential critics of American politics can be seen on the last edition of Bill Moyers Journal
(see Internet link below for this April 30 broadcast), where Moyers interviews his fellow Texan,
the left-wing populist who represents the home-grown democratic movement which dates back to the 1870s.

In our time, when something akin to "oriental despotism" seems to be displacing the traditional conflict
between democratic values and tyranny, this discussion offers a traditional perspective on class
struggles "Made in the USA."

I hope you will enjoy this interview.

P.S. Our research center, CEIMSA, translated Jim Hightower's book, Ces truands qui nous gouvernent,
which appeared at the time of his visit to Grenoble in spring 2004, and is on sale in good bookstores everywhere.
