Israel is acting on a shoot-to-kill policy. Since March 30, around 130 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza. They have included children, journalists and medics like Razan. Join us in telling Congress to speak out against Israel’s use of lethal force and the ongoing siege on Gaza. Tuesday marked the 51st anniversary of Israel’s military occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem. Since 1967, the occupation has continued to tighten its grip: land grabs, home demolitions, checkpoints, hundreds of thousands of settlement units, and a siege so crippling that Gaza has become unlivable. 97% of the water in Gaza is unfit for human consumption. Electricity is on for only 4 hours a day. Sewage plants are unable to treat the raw waste. Hospitals lack the necessary medicine and equipment to treat the wounded. Today, Palestinians in Gaza were out again in the thousands for mass protest. As expected, Israel continued to shoot-to-kill. About a month before she died, Razan spoke with New York Times about her participation in the Gaza protests. “We have one goal,” she said, “to save lives and evacuate people. Approximately 10,000 Hamas inspired rioters gathered in five locations along the Gaza Strip security fence on Friday. IDF snipers were active in stopping some of the terrorists.
This is a video compilation being pushed online by Hamas sympathizers. Two things are clear from this video. The IDF has officers pointing out who the snipers should shoot at, and give them approval for the shot. That is why before the shots we hear the Hebrew word “Rashai”, or ‘approved’. Also, it is clear from all the shots that the IDF snipers are aiming for their lower body to neutralize the terrorists, but not to kill them.
(Not all of these sniper shots were from this Friday.)
Friday’s Riots
The rioters on Friday burned tires, hurled grenades, pipe bombs and rocks at the IDF troops. They also launched burning kites, with explosive devices attached, that exploded in the air and with burning objects attached to them to ignite Israeli fields on fire.
IDF troops responded with riot dispersal means and operated in accordance with the rules of engagement. When necessary, the IDF snipers were used as well. . . . .
