Dear
Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,
As
we witness the rise and fall of neoliberal cultures around the world, the
entire collapse of capitalist civilization seems imminent. What is to follow
remains disputable - both for the short term and for the distant future.
The
slow-motion slide from plutocracy to autocracy brings to public attention a
level of mindless cruelty which to some degree has always existed in the
shadows. This cultural attribute was captured in broad daylight several years
ago when Germaine Greer wrote of the social inequalities in the Kingdom of
Kuwait and the perverse practices these inequalities spawned: It was an episode
of gratuitous sadism acted out by the wife of an oligarch in Kuwait City. The
family had hired a Palestinian refugee as a domestic worker, but when the elite
woman found her maid responsible for a slight mishap while performing her
routine household duties, the matron of the family had to punish her: the
Palestinian domestic worker was forced to clean the sidewalk in front of the
house with her tongue.
Is
this our collective future? The new social relationships that will accompany
the global politics of pauperization and eventually become
universal, completely displacing bourgeois democratic traditions with brutal
medieval authoritarianism, extreme social inequalities, and the curtailment
of public dialogue – a historic step towards the devaluation of human life to
that of a commodity cheaper than toilet paper !
The
18 + items below offer insights into the different forms of violence to
which we are now subjected on a daily basis, where the most pressing issues of
the day go unaddressed. This information from alternative sources breaks the silence and should enable readers to draw their own conclusions
about what we are actually living and what problematics
we are likely to be facing in the coming years. A vicious reactionary wave of political
repression orchestrated from above is
now attempting to normalize a degree of counterrevolutionary violence, the
likes of which is seldom seen in advanced industrial democracies. The verbal aggressiveness
from delegitimized authority figures and the violent propaganda by deed on the part of
reactionary mercenary forces now borders on insanity; it is enough to challenge
our collective sense of reality. That a small minority of capitalist owners - who are promoting death & misery as a means for their private enrichment - should posses such power over
us by successfully recruiting gangs of collaborators is enough to give pause
to the most convinced progressives. These anti-life forces must be resisted in
new and creative ways. The first step is the necessary social and economic analyses that can
galvanize our focus; then this informed solidarity must serve to liberate
all of us from our oppressors – from both the masters and from their brainwashed puppets
who are maintaining this cannibalistic political economy by traditional
divide-and-rule tactics.

Google flipped seats, shifted millions of votes to Dems in 2018 midterms
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/51325.htm
by RT
Google’s biased search algorithm actually flipped seats in
the 2018 US midterm elections, according to a researcher who found the search
engine’s “dramatically biased” results could have shifted over 78 million votes
to Democrats.
“Upwards of 25
percent of the national elections in the world are being decided without
people’s knowledge by Google’s search algorithm,” senior research
psychologist Dr. Robert Epstein of the American Institute for Behavioral
Research and Technology told RT, calling the search engine the “deciding factor” in close races.
Epstein, who received his PhD in psychology from Harvard
University and is the former editor-in-chief of Psychology Today, said that his
methodology was thorough and meticulous.
“We did this very, very
carefully. We had field agents focusing on three congressional races in
California which were very hotly contested races in Republican districts,” Epstein told RT.
“And we gave to these
field agents about 500 election-related search terms. Each one had different
search terms for different districts, where there are different issues, of
course.
“And the point is, we simply looked at what kind of search results they
received when they were conducting election-related searches.”
Epstein’s study of three 2018
California House races found Google played the deciding role in flipping those
Republican-held seats to the Democrats, influencing millions of undecided
voters by controlling what they saw when they searched 500 election-related
terms. Google’s results showed a “significant
liberal bias,” unlike Bing’s or Yahoo’s – and
with 90 percent of the search engine’s market share in the US, that bias is
enormously influential.

"Dumping Wallace, Blocking Bernie:
How the Democrats Broke With the
Working Class
Replay of a TRNN interview from
June 2016.
Peter
Kuznick, co-author of The Untold History of the
United States, spoke to Paul Jay about the significance of the vice presidency
of Henry Wallace, who served in the administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt, in
the context of the Bernie Sanders campaign.
“[The
historian] Arthur Schlesinger talked about him being the greatest secretary of
agriculture in American history,” said Peter Kuznick.
“He turned the agricultural economy around. In 1932, the farm income was
one-third of what it had been before the Depression started, and Wallace
reversed it and put it back on its feet. But during the ’30s, he was America’s
leading progressive.”
Wallace
“actually was, in terms of his politics, more progressive than Bernie Sanders,”
said Paul Jay. “In fact, he makes Bernie Sanders look like a centrist
moderate.”
The
party bosses sought to remove Wallace from the ticket for Roosevelt’s third
presidential run.
“The
segregationists in the South hated him,” said Kuznick.
“He was the leading spokesman for black civil rights. The misogynists hated
him. He was the leading spokesperson for women’s inequality. The British and
the French hated him. They implored Roosevelt to get him off the ticket as vice
president because he was writing pamphlets and speaking openly about the need
to end British and French colonialism. He said that America’s fascists are
those people who think that Wall Street comes first and the American people second.”
After
FDR wrote a letter saying he would reject the nomination if Wallace was
removed, the beloved progressive politician was put back on the ticket.
Wallace
was one of the most popular public figures in America during the 1930s. When
traveling in Chile and Costa Rica, he attracted crowds numbering in the tens of
thousands.
“Many
people don’t understand where the progressive aspects of the New Deal came
from,” say Kuznick. “If you look at the ’34,
election, ’36 election, the American public was very, very, very progressive
during that time. And the thing that sparked the progressive elements in the
New Deal was the upsurge of labor, the rise of the CIO, the battle for the
working class in the 1930s and the soul of America. In fact, if you look even at
the Communist Party, the Communist Party was planning to be part of that
tradition of the popular front.”
“Once
you have the Cold War, McCarthyism, and the House Un-American Activities
Committee and essentially purge the unions of most of the really progressive
leadership, what you’re left with is a union leadership that merges with the
elites and in fact become elites themselves,” said Jay. “And so the Democratic
Party, instead of this place where you have this united front of different
classes contending, you have the whole preponderance of leadership now
representing the elites.”
“We’ve
had certain moments when the party has reverted to its working-class roots,
when it has been a progressive party,” said Kuznick.
“And I think that’s what the Sanders campaign is trying to do, and it’s
certainly what Wallace was fighting for from 1941-45 when he was vice president
of the United States.”

U.S. Posts The Biggest Monthly Budget Deficit In American History
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/51326.htm
by
Mary Papenfuss
Trump railed against
debt during his campaign, vowed to balance budget.
February’s federal budget deficit
was the largest on record, according to figures released by the Treasury Department on Friday.
President Donald Trump promised during his campaign that he would balance the budget in eight years.
The total debt surpassed $22 trillion for the first time ever
in February — $2 trillion higher than when Trump took office.
The massive shortfall is being attributed to a 20 percent drop in corporate revenue and increased federal
spending. The Trump administration slashed corporate taxes in his new 2017
tax law from 35 percent to 21 percent. Trump’s tax-cut package cost the
government $1.5 trillion.
“When you pass the most irresponsible tax cut followed by the most
irresponsible spending increase, unsurprisingly it leads to the largest deficit
numbers,” Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee
for a Responsible Federal Budget, told The Washington Post. “Predictably,
that’s exactly where we landed.”
The deficit for the first five months of the federal fiscal
year is $544.2 billion, up nearly 40 percent from the same period the previous
year, according to Treasury figures.
The budget gap was $234 billion in February alone, which surpassed the earlier monthly record of $231.7 billion
seven years ago, according to an analysis of data by Bloomberg.
Total spending was $401 billion in February while the government took in just
$167 billion.

Exposure of Another Pro-War
Lie Doesn’t Make Media More Skeptical of Pro-War Claims
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/51301.htm
by Janine Jackson
Listeners will likely know by now, that the late February
story, complete with vivid video footage, about the forces of elected
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro
burning trucks that were trying to bring the besieged country food and medicine
was false. Weeks later, the New York Times (3/10/19) reported that the
humanitarian trucks were not set on fire by Maduro’s
forces, but instead by anti-Maduro protestors who
threw a Molotov cocktail. The Times outlined how the fake story took root, passing from US
officials to media that simply reported their claims as fact with no
investigation—and does any of this sound familiar?
Folks like CNN‘s Marshall Cohen noted the Times debunking as if it were just an interesting development—a
“classic example of how misinformation spreads,” Cohen said in a tweet. Except, as The
Intercept‘s Glenn Greenwald pointed out (3/10/19), it was Cohen’s
own network, CNN, that led the way in spreading the lie around the world.
And not simply by parroting official claims. On February 24,
the network told viewers that “a CNN team saw
incendiary devices from police on the Venezuelan side of the border ignite the
trucks.” It was then we got to Mike Pence claiming that “the tyrant” Maduro
“danced as his henchmen…burned food and medicine”; Marco Rubio’s comment that “each of the
trucks burned by Maduro carried 20 tons of food and
medicine. This is a crime and if international law means anything, he must pay
a high price for this”; Mike Pompeo’s fist-shaking, “What kind of
a sick tyrant stops food from getting to hungry people?”

Fears of New Gaza Invasion Rise as Israel Launches
Airstrikes
and Mobilizes Along Border
https://www.democracynow.org/2019/3/26/fears_of_new_gaza_invasion_rise
Israel
has bombed Gaza for a third day in a row and mobilized dozens of tanks, raising fears that Israel could launch another invasion. The
latest Israeli airstrikes came earlier this morning, after Hamas announced it
had reached an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire with Israel. Tension has been
escalating for days in Gaza. On Friday, Israeli troops shot dead two
Palestinians taking part in the weekly Great March of Return protests.
Sixty-two other Palestinians were injured. On Sunday, Israeli air raids struck
parts of Gaza, including a refugee camp. Then, on Monday, militants inside Gaza
launched a series of homemade rockets toward Israel. One rocket hit a house
north of Tel Aviv, injuring seven members of a British-Israeli family. Israel
blamed Hamas for the rocket attack and retaliated by launching heavy airstrikes
in Gaza City targeting the office of Hamas’s political leader and the group’s
military intelligence headquarters. Seven Palestinians were reportedly injured
in the strikes. We speak with Budour Hassan, a
Palestinian writer and project coordinator for the Jerusalem Center for Legal
Aid and Human Rights, and Jehad Abusalim,
scholar and policy analyst from Gaza. He runs the Gaza Unlocked campaign for

Trump Is Netanyahu’s Man and
the US Media Are Imbeciles

As I said, Trump is America’s first Zionist president.
But apparently Trump does not understand that a declaration he signs giving
Golan Heights to Israel has no authority under international law. I doubt
many others will prostitute themselves in this way, so all Trump has achieved
is to line up the United States with Israel’s illegal absorption of occupied
territory. https://www.rt.com/news/454711-trump-signs-golan-heights/
Of course, in America stupidity can be found wherever one
looks. Listening to the presstitutes today, especially
the imbeciles at NPR, the American media is so completely stupid that the
morons are unable to comprehend that there cannot be obsruction
of justice if there is no crime. Mueller says there is no crime, so how
could Trump obstruct justice in the absence of a crime? What justice was
obstructed?
Don’t expect the idiot presstitutes

Or the imbeciles Nadler and Schiff and the rest of the junk politicians who

Human Rights Attorney to Trump:

Just
weeks before major elections in Israel that could determine the future of
embattled Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump declares the U.S.
will recognize Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, in defiance
of international law and decades of U.S. policy. The announcement comes as he
is set to host Netanyahu at the White House next week amid the annual
conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, where Vice
President Mike Pence will speak, along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, among others. A growing number of
Democrats—including at least eight presidential candidates—say they will skip
the summit. We get reaction from Palestinian human rights attorney Noura Erakat, author of the new
book “Justice for Some: Law and the Question of Palestine.”

AIPAC Is Coming to Town – Again!

The
Trump Administration has delivered yet another concession to Israel’s embattled
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the eve of parliamentary elections: the
Israeli military occupation of much of the Palestinian West Bank and of the
Golan Heights will no longer be referred to in official U.S. government
documents as an occupation. America’s so-called Ambassador to Israel is a
former Trump lawyer named David Friedman who is more involved in serving Israel
than the United States. He personally supports the view that the illegal Jewish settlements
are legitimately part of Israel, choosing to ignore their growth even though it
has long been U.S. policy to oppose them. He has also long sought to change the
State Department’s language on the Israeli control of the West Bank and Golan
Heights, being particularly concerned about the expression “occupied,” which
has legal implications. Now he appears to have won that fight, to the delight
of the Netanyahu government.
And the
expunging of “occupied” might be only the first of many gifts intended to
bolster Netanyahu’s chances. Senator Lindsey Graham, who also boasts of his
close ties to the Israeli Prime Minister, intends to initiate legislative
action to go one step further and compel the United States to actually recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights,
the Syrian territory that was annexed after fighting in 1967, but which has not
been recognized as part of Israel by any other country or international body.
If a vote on the bill is pushed forward and goes as expected virtually
unanimously as the subject before congress is Israel, it would hugely benefit Bibi. Some sources are also predicting that recognition of
the Golan Heights could easily lead to U.S. government recognition of Israel’s
sovereignty over much of the West Bank.
Israel’s
election is scheduled for April 9th, so there is still plenty of
time for additional mischief. There have even been suggestions in the Israeli
media that Netanyahu just might escalate fighting with any one or more of a
number of its neighbors to enhance his wartime leader credentials. That Gaza
will be pummeled is a certainty and Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria is probably
also in the gun-sights. An uncorroborated report last week out of Israel
claimed that Hezbollah is operating a “terror cell” in Syria close to the border
with Israel. It would serve as a pretext for a bit of military action and
America’s own congress-critters would immediately be jumping up and down
expressing their support for Israel’s right to “defend itself.” The big prize
for Netanyahu would, of course, be success at getting the United States to
attack Iran and one can bet that Mossad is cranking
up “false flag” plans to bring about such an eventuality while also making it
look like the Mullahs were at fault.

"Rebuilding
America's Defenses" – A Summary
Blueprint of the PNAC Plan for U.S. Global Hegemony
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article3249.htm
by Bette Stockbauer
Some
people have compared it to Hitler's publication of Mein Kampf,
which was ignored until after the war was over.
Full
text of Rebuilding America's Defenses here
When
the Bush administration started lobbying for war with Iraq, they used as
rationale a definition of preemption (generally meaning anticipatory use of
force in the face of an imminent attack) that was broadened to allow for the
waging of a preventive war in which force may be used even without evidence of
an imminent attack. They also were able to
convince much of the American public that Saddam Hussein had something to do
with the attacks of 9/11, despite the fact that no evidence of a link has been
uncovered. Consequently, many people supported the war on the basis of 1) a
policy that has no legal basis in international law and 2) a totally unfounded
claim of Iraqi guilt.
What
most people do not know, however, is that certain high ranking officials in the
Bush administration have been working for regime change in Iraq for the past
decade, long before terrorism became an important issue for our country. In
1997 they formed an organization called the Project for the New American
Century (PNAC). They have sought the establishment of a much stronger U.S.
presence throughout the Mideast and Iraq's Saddam Hussein has been their number
one target for regime change. Members of this group drafted and successfully
passed through Congress the Iraqi Liberation Act, giving legal sanctions for an
invasion of the country, and funneled millions of taxpayer dollars to Hussein
opposition groups called the Iraqi National Congress and The Committee for the
Liberation of Iraq.
The
PNAC philosophy was formed in response to the ending of Cold War hostilities
with Russia and the emergence of America as the world's only preeminent
superpower. Claiming that this is a "strategic moment" that should
not be squandered, members of PNAC say that America should use its position to
advance its power and interests into all areas of the globe. They believe the
time is ripe for establishing democracies in regimes considered hostile to U.S.
interests and are not hesitant to advise the use of military means to achieve
those ends.
PNAC
members on the Bush team include Vice-President Dick Cheney and his top
national security assistant, I. Lewis Libby; Secretary of Defense Donald
Rumsfeld; Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz;
National Security Council member Eliot Abrams; Undersecretary for Arms Control
and International Security John Bolton; and former Chairman of the Defense
Policy Board, Richard Perle. Other PNAC members
exerting influence on U.S. policy are the President of the Committee for the
Liberation of Iraq Randy Scheunemann, Republican
Party leader Bruce Jackson and current PNAC chairman William Kristol, conservative writer for the Weekly Standard. Jeb
Bush, the president's brother and governor of Florida, is also a member.
Their
campaign to overthrow Hussein was unsuccessful during the Clinton presidency
and early days of Bush's term, but on 9/11 they found the event they needed to
push for the overthrow of Hussein. Within 24 hours both Wolfowitz
and Cheney were calling for an invasion of Iraq, even before anyone knew who
had been responsible for the attacks.
Individuals
who now belong to PNAC have been influencing White House policy since the
Reagan era, calling for coups in Central America and claiming that a nuclear
war with Russia could be "winnable." Richard Perle
is one of their most prominent spokesmen. He and Michael Ledeen
(of the American Enterprise Institute), who is currently lobbying for war with
Syria and Iran, have adopted a stance that they call "total war" —
the ability to wage multiple simultaneous wars around the globe to achieve
American ends. Recently Perle commented on America's
war on terrorism: "No stages," he said, "This is total war. We
are fighting a variety of enemies. There are lots of them out there. All this
talk about first we are going to do Afghanistan, then we will do Iraq . . .
this is entirely the wrong way to go about it. If we just let our vision of the
world go forth, and we embrace it entirely and we don't try to piece together
clever diplomacy, but just wage a total war . . . our children will sing great
songs about us years from now."
Members
of PNAC are so self-assured they are advancing America's best interests that
they publish policy papers specifically outlining their plans, plans that many
fear may be laying the groundwork for a third world war. Their ideas are
peculiarly atavistic, considering the friendly ties that have been forged
between most of the major nations during the past ten years.

Subject: Two dead in Gaza. One week before the million-strong
demonstration, Israel is killing innocents
Hello again
The Zionist occupation forces killed two young men in the eastern Gaza Strip in
the major return marches
The occupation forces killed 1. Nidal Abdel Karim Ahmed Shatat
29 years of al-Mughraqah.
2. Jihad Mounir Khaled, a 24-year-old from Shujaiya
Israeli forces also
injured more than 200 people, 50 of them with heavy gunshot wounds
Medical teams are still
trying to revive three young people because of the seriousness of the injury
Today, we are preparing
ourselves for the promised day, Saturday, which marks the first anniversary of
the start of the return marches, which killed more than 300 people, mostly
children.
Our reports indicate
that this day will be the largest day in the marches and expected the arrival
of more than half a million people on the border of the Gaza Strip
We are preparing
ourselves for the day and trying to thank two dear friends who have supported
us almost half of what we have Garth Smith of Malbourn Bay and Tim Stadler
We still need great
support because we faced a black Friday that was not in mind. We expected calm
on this day but it was very bloody
The Israeli occupation
forces violated international laws by wounding five paramedics working for the
Palestinian Red Crescent and some medical workers and journalists
So I beg you and I beg
you not to leave us in these difficult days because we really need great
support because we are on the threshold of a day that will probably be the
bloodiest after the war in Gaza in 2014
So we need your great
support and please support and support us in any way
I wish you a donation

Trump
Is America’s First Zionist President
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/51320.htm
by Paul Craig Roberts
It
is impossible not to feel some sympathy for President Donald Trump. His
agenda to restore normal relations with Russia and to end Washington’s
gratuitous wars has been frustrated by the “Russiagate
hoax” that the military/security complex and corrupt Democratic Party used in
the effort to remove Trump from the presidency. He and his wife have been
embarrassed by the fake “Steele Dossier” paid for by the Clinton campaign and
used by a corrupt FBI leadership to illegitimately obtain spy warrants on Trump
and his associates. Accused of cavorting with prostitutes in Moscow and confronted
with claims by a porn star of an affair in order to boost the recognition value
of her name, Trump and his wife have experienced uncomfortable times. Now
that the lies the presstitutes have told since 2016
have been exposed by Mueller’s inability, despite his use of every dirty trick,
to come up with any indictable offense connected to “Russiagate,”
the psychopathic liars who comprise the presstitute media are on the
verge of tears. Mueller has betrayed them, they claim, by
letting Trump off the hook.
In
other words, there will be no apology to Trump. Don’t be surprised to see
the deranged accusation that Mueller himself was part of the Russian collusion
and was appointed for the purpose of covering it up.
Weakened
by “Russiagate” accusations, Trump was forced to back
off his agenda of ending the wars. He put policy in the hands of
neoconservative warmongers like John Bolton and Pompeo,
and expanded the prospect of wars into Iran and Venezuela. Trump in
office bears little resemblance to Trump campaigning for the presidency.

Trump and Netanyahu keep on colluding

In front of journalists, Netanyahu told Trump that he had brought a “case of

minister then justified his request with
a gag that led to guffaws from the White House staff: “I hope they don’t open

Soldiers
may ‘open fire’ if lives at risk in Yellow Jacket protests: Paris military
general – by Galaxy Henry.
Plans to have military on guard
outside public buildings has sparked political debate and raised concerns the
soldiers do not have the right training or weapons for this activity. Soldiers
mobilized for Saturday's planned Yellow Jacket protests will operate under
strict instructions, but could open fire if their lives or the lives of
civilians are threatened, General Bruno Leray,
military governor of Paris, said Friday. Several thousand soldiers from Opération Sentinelle, a
French military operation deployed following the January 2015 Île-de-France
attacks, will be stationed outside numerous official sites during
Saturday's demonstrations — the 19th weekend of street protests by the broad
anti-government movement.

NZ
Terrorist Used ISIS Tactics to Divide,
and
People Are Buying Into It
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/51327.htm
by
Matt Agorist
“Liberty provokes diversity, and
diversity preserves liberty.”
—John Dalberg-Acton
In the above quote, Acton warns that those who seek to eliminate
diversity are a direct threat to liberty. The existence of national and
religious minorities is a crucial factor in dividing state power, resisting
centralization, and preventing absolute authority. Sadly, however, it appears
that there are many forces attempting to subvert this tendency to resist
absolute power and those too weak to resist it, are buying in, hook, line, and
sinker.
A disgusting terrorist animal (whose name will not be
mentioned) donned his camera and his rifle last weekend—along with an arsenal
of sh*tpost memes—and took
to live-streaming the murder of 50 innocent men women and children. His
motivation for this horror was based solely on his victims’ religious
preference.
The terrorist bragged about wanting to kill Muslims on
multiple online forums and last week, this bragging turned into action as he
slaughtered innocent people. On one forum in particular, 8chan, this terrorist
posted the link to his live stream, along with a link to his manifesto, and
told thousands of followers what was about to happen.
Instead of immediately chastising this hate-inspired act of
terror and calling for him to stop, hundreds of people on the forum espoused
their support as they watched his rampage—up to and including leaving comments
praising him for individual kills, some of whom were children.
What this support highlights is that there is a growing
sentiment in this country and around the world that fosters hatred over
religious views. Because of certain acts carried out by those who claim to be
members of one religion, all members of this religion are deemed a threat, and
therefore their lives rendered expendable, according to this philosophy.
But those who wish to exterminate Islam are ignorant of why
Islamic extremism is so prevalent in the first place.
For decades, the US and its Western allies have been
violently and frequently meddling in the Middle East. Beginning with the
clandestine overthrow of democratically elected leaders, moving on to financing
violent extremist groups, and morphing into full blown invasions of entire
countries, the Middle East has been the target of
destruction since at least 1953.
Ignoring all of the treachery, corruption, and death exported
from the US in the last 70 years, the troglodytes in D.C. continue to assert
that ‘the terrorists hate our freedom.’ Sadly, the propaganda being shoved down
the throats of Americans by these ill-informed political puppets and their
parrots in the media, preserves this idiotic
assertion.
Millions have died in the West’s relentless pursuit of nation
building and controlling oil, all of it is written off as “collateral damage,”
and the complicit politicians march on.
The West is constantly perpetuating the dangerous lie that a
massive ‘terrorist threat’ will always and has always existed, and poses a
constant threat to you because they disagree with your lifestyle—completely
ignoring the last 70 years of death and destruction doled out by their
predecessors.
Thanks to the sycophants who worship the military industrial
complex, their decades of meddling and funding strategic terrorist
organizations who supported their temporary interests
have manifested into an actual threat.
Do you think that the children of those slain by a decade of
bombing and constant threats of drone strikes will simply forget about the
atrocities inflicted upon them? Do you think that the parents who watched their
babies blown apart by predator drones, or the hospital workers who watched as
US bombs rained down from the sky — will just turn the other cheek?

Don’t believe the hype,
Isis has not yet been defeated – here’s why
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/51324.htm
by Robert Fisk
If the Americans are in fact leaving at
last, the Kurds are still going to be betrayed and left to the mercy of their
enemies – be this Turkey or Syria
After
all the headlines about the supposed defeat of Isis, anyone who doesn’t
believe a word of it may seem a bit of a spoilsport. But whenever I read that
victory has been declared – whether it be of the Bush “mission
accomplished” variety or the “last Isis stronghold about to
fall” fantasy – I draw in my breath. Because you can make a safe bet that
it’s not true.
Not just because the fighting around Baghouz
is, in fact, still continuing outside the wrecked town. But because there are
plenty of Isis fighters still under arms and ready to fight in the Syrian
province of Idlib, along with their Hayat Tahrir al Sham, al-Nusra and al-Qaeda
comrades – almost surrounded by Syrian government troops but with a narrow
corridor in which they could escape to Turkey; always
supposing that Sultan Erdogan will let them. There are Russian troop outposts
inside these Islamist front lines, along with Turkish military forces but
the tentative ceasefire which held for five months has become a lot more
tenuous in the past few weeks.
Maybe it’s a failure of our institutional memory – or it’s
just plain simpler to go along with the simplest story – but Idlib has
for three years been the dumping ground of all Syria’s Islamist enemies, or at
least the antagonists who didn’t surrender when they fled the big cities under
Syrian and Russian bombardment.
Last September – though we seem to have forgotten this – Trump
and the UN were warning of the impending “last battle”
for Idlib, fearing – so they said – that the Syrians
and Russians would use chemical weapons in their assault on Isis and its chums.
Even the Syrian army announced the impending conflict, minus the chemicals, in
a military website called “Dawn at Idlib”.
But I took a long trip around the Syrian front lines at Idlib, from the Turkish frontier then south, east and north
again up to Aleppo and saw no tank convoys, no troop transporters, few Syrian
helicopters, no supply trains and concluded – even as the warnings of final
extinction continued – that this particular “last battle” was still a long way
away. On the day I arrived south of Jisr al-Shughur, al-Nusra and Isis
had fired a few mortars at Syrian army positions – the Syrians had fired a few
shells back at them – but that was it.
A complicated truce agreement, involving both the Turks and
the Russians, managed to forestall the carnage everyone predicted. There was
much talk of the Isis, al-Nusra and al-Qaeda men –
some of whom are Saudis – being shipped out by the Turks under a laissez passer
to the wilds of Saudi Arabia for a little “re-education”. I always hoped this
might be the woefully hot Empty Quarter where their superheated theology might
be turned to a crisp.
But they are still in Idlib, happy
no doubt to hear that the west thinks it has scored its “final victory” over
Isis. The battle for Baghouz, of course, was always
likely to pick up the headlines. The American air bombings and the
presence of the friendly (and very brave) Kurds made this a more accessible –
although still dangerous – story. And it switched attention away from other
questions: like who invented the title “Syrian Democratic Forces” – which are
in fact mostly Kurdish, many of whose members would prefer not to be thought of
as Syrians, and whose ranks never enjoyed a democratic election in their lives.
If the Americans are in fact leaving at last, the Kurds are
still going to be betrayed and left to the mercy of their enemies – be this
Turkey or the Syrian regime (with whom the Kurds held some not very successful
talks last year). A good time for the Americans, therefore,
to call it a day outside Baghouz – a victorious one
of course – and get the hell out. Hoping that the
world will forget about Idlib.
But I don’t think it will. The Syrian war is not yet over –
although that’s what the world (including, it seems, the Syrian government)
believes. Idlib remains a land of tens of thousands
of refugees as well as legions of fighters, a place of destitution, broken
railways and blown-up motorways and Islamist groups who sometimes fight each
other with more enthusiasm than they wish to fight the Syrian military.

with Andy Worthington
The
most notorious U.S. detention site in the world, Guantanamo Bay, still holds 40
prisoners. Most of the 800 men shipped to Guantanamo Bay since it was opened
under George W. Bush in 2002 were sold to U.S. forces for bounty by Pakistani
and Afghan officials, militia and warlords. They were stripped of their legal
rights, held for years without being charged or given a fair and open trial.
Not only is the detention center a recruiting dream for radical jihadists it
costs American taxpayers $ 1/2 billion a year, roughly $11 million dollars for
each detainee. Joining Chris Hedges in the studio is the British journalist
Andy Worthington, who has covered these imprisoned men in Guantanamo since
2006.

The U.S. Deserves Its Own Nuremberg
Trials
Former
Vice President Dick Cheney and then-President George W. Bush attend a
Washington, D.C. , inaugural event in 2005. (The White
House)
https://www.truthdig.com/articles/the-u-s-deserves-its-own-nuremberg-trials/
by Robert Scheer
Are
Americans capable of committing atrocities on the same scale as Germans did
under Nazi rule? That is the question that University of San Francisco ethics
professor Rebecca Gordon and Truthdig Editor in Chief
Robert Scheer grapple with in the latest installment
of “Scheer Intelligence.” Gordon, author of
“Mainstreaming Torture” and “American Nuremberg,” posits that if America’s
actions in the Middle East, especially in Iraq, were to be scrutinized the way
Nazi Germany’s crimes were probed in the aftermath of World War II, the U.S.
would likely also be found guilty of crimes against humanity.
Gordon
begins her comparison by exploring the main charge levied against Nazis during
the Nuremberg trials, which was committing a crime against peace due to
Germany’s breach of the 1928 Kellogg-Briand Pact, which, she explains,
“essentially outlawed war.” American prosecutors in the mid-20th century
insisted that this initial crime was the unlawful act from which all other
crimes committed by the Nazis originated.
“By
comparison,” the author tells Scheer, “I look at the
Bush-Cheney administration’s decision to make an unnecessary and illegal war,
both in Afghanistan and especially in Iraq.
“It’s
very clear from the documentary record that exists that the main reason people
were being tortured [by the U.S. before the Iraq War began] was because they
wanted to get somebody somewhere to say that Saddam Hussein was in league with
al-Qaida, so that there could be an excuse for invading Iraq,” Gordon says.

Freedom
Rider: The Permanence of White Supremacy
https://www.blackagendareport.com/freedom-rider-permanence-white-supremacy
by Margaret Kimberley
Zionism,
manifest destiny, wars on terror, humanitarian interventions, and the Monroe
and other doctrines always boil down to a license to kill.
“Pointing
fingers at the Australian killer and others of his ilk lets too many people off
the hook of responsibility.”
Discussions
about white supremacy should amount to more than kumbaya
moments of interpersonal harmony or hand wringing when lone gunmen go on the
periodic racist rampage. Self-identified white people have always posed dangers
to every other group. Most of them living today haven’t carried out murder with
their own hands but that does not mean that they or their countrymen and women
can’t be held to account.
Donald
Trump’s presidency complicates this discussion. The threats presented by his
appeals to racists cannot be overstated. There is no dispute about his impact.
Shortly after he was inaugurated a white supremacist shot and killed six people
at a Montreal, Quebec mosque. The killer of 50 Muslim worshippers in New
Zealand referred to Trump as “a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose.”
“Zionism
is an example of white supremacy in action.”
