The
book, Hidden
History: The Secret Origins of the First World War (2013) by amateur historians Gerry Docherty and Jim Macgregor, reads like a who-done-it?novel
with real page-turning force. Following the title page of this book is the
authors’ dedication page: “Dedicated to the victims of an unspeakable evil”;
then the Acknowledgements, which include Professor Carroll Quigley
[1910-1977], “[without whom] it would have been impossible for us to unpick the
web of deceit woven around the origins of the war”; then the Introduction,
which begins with the unequivocal statement, “The history of the First World
War is a deliberately concocted lie.”
Not
the sacrifice, the heroism, the horrendous waste of life or the misery that
followed. No, these were very real, but the truth of how it all began and how
it was unnecessary and deliberately prolonged beyond 1915 has been successfully
covered up for a century. A carefully falsified history was created to conceal
the fact that Britain, not Germany, was responsible for the war. Had the truth
become widely known after 1918, the consequences for the British Establishment
would have been cataclysmic.
At the end of the war Britain, France and
the United States laid the blame squarely on Germany and took steps to remove,
conceal or falsify documents and reports to justify such a verdict. In 1919, at
Versailles near Paris, the victors decreed that Germany was solely responsible
for the global catastrophe. She had, they claimed, deliberately planned the war
and rejected all of their proposals for conciliation and mediation. Germany
protested vehemently that she was not responsible and that it had been, for
her, a defensive war against the aggression of Russia and France.(p.11)
The
authors go on to elaborate on the justification for their new book.
To the victors go the spoils, and their
judgment was immediately reflected in the official accounts. What became the
generally accepted history of the First World War revolved around German
militarism, German expansionism, the kaiser’s
bombastic nature and ambitions, and Germany’s invasion of innocent, neutral Belgium. The system of secret alliances, a ‘naval race’,
economic imperialism, and the theory of an ‘inevitable war’ later softened the
attack on Germany, though the spurious notion that she alone had wanted war
remained understood in the background.
In the 1920s, a number of highly regarded
American and Canadian professor of history . . . seriously questioned the
Versailles verdict and the ‘evidence’ on which the assumption of German war
guilt was based. Their work in revising the official Versailles findings was
attacked by historians who insisted that Germany was indeed responsible. Today,
eminent British war historians place the blame on Germany, though most are
willing to concede that ‘other factors’ were also involved. Professor Niall
Ferguson writes of the kaiser’s strategy of global
war. Professor Hew Strachan maintains that the war was about liberal countries
struggling to defend their freedoms (against German aggression), while Professor Norman Stone states that the greatest
mistake of the twentieth century was made when Germany built a navy to attack
Britain. Professor Stevenson quite unequivocally writes that ‘it is ultimately
in Berlin that we must seek the keys to the destruction of peace’. It was
Germany’s fault. End of story.
Several other recent accounts on the
causes of the war offer alternative ideas. Christopher Clark’s book, for
example, looks on the events leading up to August 1914 as a tragedy into which
an unsuspecting world ‘sleepwalked’. [For more on Clark’s book, see CEIMSA Bulletin 848.]We
reveal that far from sleepwalking into a global tragedy, the unsuspecting world
was ambushed by a secret cabal of warmongers in London. In Hidden History: The
Secret Origins of the First World War we debunk the notion that Germany was to
blame for this heinous crime against humanity, or that Belgium was an innocent,
neutral nation caught unawares by German militarism. We clearly demonstrate
that the German invasion of Belgium was not an act of thoughtless and
indiscriminate aggression, but a reaction forced upon Germany when she faced
imminent annihilation. From the day of its conception, the ‘Schlieffen
Plan’ was a defence strategy and the last desperate
act open to Germany to protect herself from being overrun simultaneously from
east and west by the huge Russian and French armies massing on her borders.
What this book sets out to prove is that
unscrupulous men, whose roots and origins were in Britain, sought a war to
crush Germany and orchestrated events in order to bring this about. 1914 is
generally considered as the starting point for the disaster that followed, but
the crucial decisions that led to war had been taken many years before.
A secret society of rich and powerful men
was established in London in 1891 with the long-term aim of taking control of
the entire world. These individuals, whom we call the Secret Elite,
deliberately fomented the Boer War of 1899-1902 in order to grab the
Transvaal’s gold mines, and this became a template for their future
actions. Their ambitions overrode humanity, and the consequences of their
actions have been minimized, ignored or denied in official histories. The
horror of the British concentration camps in South Africa, where 20,000
children died, is conveniently glossed over; the devastating loss of a
generation in a world war for which these men were deliberately responsible has
been glorified by the lie that they died for ‘freedom and civilisation’. This book focuses on how a cabal of
international bankers, industrialists and their political agents successfully
used war to destroy the Boer Republics and then Germany, and were never called
to account.
Carefully falsified history? A secret society taking control of the world? Britain responsible for the First World War? Twenty thousand children dying in British concentration camps?
A cabal based in London whose prime objective was to destroy Germany? Lest any
readers jump immediately to the conclusion that this book is some madcap
conspiracy theory, they should, amongst other evidence, consider the work of
Carroll Quigley, one of the twentieth century’s most highly respected
historians.(pp.11-13)
At the end of their short introduction Docherty and Macgregor admonish readers to weigh the facts presented in this 400 + page book (consisting of an Introduction, twenty-seven Chapters, and a Conclusion, with two Appendicies, a List of over 420 references, and a total of more than 1,400 footnotes). "There is no royal road to science.", to cite one long-time critic of capitalism.
This
book is not a fictional story conjured on a whim. Despite the desperate
attempts to remove every trace of Secret Elite complicity, the detailed
evidence we present, chapter by chapter, reveals a tragic trail of
misinformation, deceit, secret double-dealings and lies that left the world
devastated and bankrupt. This is conspiracy fact, not theory.
A great many chapters appear in the
narrative of this history and we have appended a list of key players for ready
referral if required. The reader faces a tantalisingly
difficult challenge. These immensely rich and powerful men acted behind the
scenes, shielded by the innermost core of the Establishment, by a controlled
media and by a carefully vetted history. The following chapters prove that the
official version of history, as taught for more than a
century, are fatally flawed: soaked in lies and half-truths. Those lies
have penetrated so deeply into the psyche that the reader’s first reaction
might be to discount evidence be cause it is not what
they learned in school or university, or challenges their every assumption. The
Secret Elite and their agents still seek to control our understanding of what
really happened, and why. We ask only that you accept this challenge and
examine the evidence we lay before you. Let your open-mindedness be the judge.(p.16)
The
first chapter is prefaced by a quote taken from Carroll Quigley’s 1949 book, The Anglo-American Establishment (which
was published posthumously in 1981.
One wintry afternoon in February
1891, three men engaged in earnest conversation in London.
From that conversation were to flow
consequences of the greatest importance to the British Empire
and to the world as a whole.(cited on
p.17)
The
three men were Cecil
Rhodes [1853-1902], William Stead
[1849-1912] and Lord Esher [1852-1930], the original architects of a
plan for the organization of a secret society,
that
would take over the control of foreign policy both in Britain and, later by
extension, the United States of America: a secret society that aimed to renew
the Anglo-Saxon bond between Great Britain and the United States, spread all
that they considered good in the English ruling-class traditions, and expand
the British Empire’s influence in the world they believed they were destined to
control.(p.17)
The
original impetus of the organization was the growing fear of German expansion
and the threat it represented to the British Empire. This group of men,
beginning in the 1870s, had come under the influence of Oxford fine arts Professor John Ruskin
[1819-1900], who believed in the superiority of the English ruling classes as a
historical force acting in the best interests of their inferiors and for the
good of civilization, which they must control, manage and make profitable. The
organizing principle of this secret group was simply the unquestioned
imperative: the preservation and expansion of the British Empire.
The
conspirators, according to Docherty and Macgregor, were well-known public
figures, initially associated with Lord Salisbury [1830-1903] and later with Geoffrey Dawson [1874-1944], and they were connected to “infinitely greater wealth.” Their plan was
relatively simple:
A
secret society would be formed and run by a small, close-knit clique. The
leader was to be Cecil Rhodes. He and his accomplices constructed the secret
organization around concentric circles, with an inner core of trusted
associates –‘The Society of the Elect’ – who unquestionably knew that they were
members of an exclusive cabal devoted to taking and holding power on a
worldwide scale. A second outer circle, larger and quite fluid in its
membership, was to be called ‘The Association of Helpers’. At this level of
involvement, members may or may not have been aware that they were either an
integral part or inadvertently being used by a secret society. Many on the
outer edges of the group, idealists and honest politicians, may never have
known that the real decisions were made by a ruthless clique about whom they
had no knowledge. Professor Quigley revealed that the organisation
was able to ‘conceal it existence quite successfully, and many of its
influential members, satisfied to posses the reality of power rather than the
appearance of power, are unknown even to close students of British history’.
Secrecy was the
cornerstone. No one outside the favoured
few knew of the society’s existence. Members understood the reality of power .
. . they knew how decisions were made, how governments were controlled and
policy financed. They have been referred to obliquely in speeches and books as
‘the money power’, the ‘hidden power’ or ‘the men behind the curtain’. All of
these labels are pertinent, but we have called them, collectively, the Secret
Elite.
The
meeting in February 1891 was not a chance encounter. Rhodes had been planning
such a move for years, while Stead and Esher had been
party to his ideas of some time. A year earlier, on 15 February 1890, Rhodes
journeyed from South Africa to Lord Rothschild’s country estate to present his
plan. Nathaniel Rothschild, together with Lord Esher
and some other very senior members of the British Establishment, was present. Esher noted at the time: ‘Rhodes is a splendid enthusiast,
but he looks upon men as machines . . . he has vast ideas . . . and [is], I
suspect, quite unscrupulous as to the means he employs.’ In truth, these were
exactly the qualities needed to be an empire builder: unscrupulous and uncaring
with vast ambition.(p.18)
Cecil
Rhodes has long talked about setting up a Jesuit-like secret society, pledged
to take any action necessary to protect and promote the extension of the power
of the British Empire. He sought to ‘bring the whole uncivilized world under British
Rule, for the recovery of the United States, for the making of the Anglo-Saxon
race but one empire’. In essence, the plan was as simple as that. Just as the
Jesuit Order had been formed to protect the pope and expand the Catholic
Church, answerable only to its own superior general and nominally the pope, so
the Secret Society was to protect and expand the British Empire, and remain
answerable to its leader. The holy grail was control
not of God’s kingdom on earth in the name of the Almightily but of the known
world in the name of the mighty British Empire. Both of these societies sought
a different kind of world domination but shared a similar sense of ruthless
purpose.
By February 1891, the time had come to
move from ideal to action, and the formation of the secret society was agreed.

In
the early years, the leading activists included Cecil Rhodes, William Stead,
Lord Escher, Alfred
Milner [1854-1925] and Lord
Nathaniel Rothschild [1840-1915]. By the mid-19th
century, the House of Rothschild, based in London, Paris, Frankfurt and Vienna,
dominated European Finance. Their holdings branched out across the world into
new investments in steel, railways and oil; Cecil Rhodes’ diamond and gold
companies were bankrolled by the Rothschilds.
The secret society specifically
infiltrated the two great organs of imperial government: the Foreign Office and
the Colonial Office, and established their control over senior civil servants
who dominate these domains. In addition, they took control of the departments
and committees that would enable their ambitions: the War Office, the Committee
of Imperial Defence and the highest echelons of the
armed services. Party-political allegiance was not given prerequisite; loyalty
to the cause most certainly was.
Their tentacles spread out to Russia and
France, the Balkans and South Africa, and their targets were agents in the
highest offices of foreign governments who were bought and nurtured for future
use. . . . .
What’s more, they had the power to control
history, to turn history from enlightenment to deception. The Secret Elite dictated
the writing and teaching of history, from the ivory towers of academia down to
the smallest of schools. They carefully controlled the publication of official
government papers, the selection of documents for inclusion in the official
version of the history of the First World War, and refused access to any
evidence that might betray their covert existence.

To this day, researchers are denied access
to certain First World War documents because the Secret Elite had much to fear
from the truth, as do those who have succeeded them. They ensure that we learn
only those ‘facts’ that support their version of history. It is worse than
deception. They were determined to wipe out all traces that led back to them.
They have taken every possible step to ensure that it would remain exceedingly
difficult to unmask their crimes.(pp.14-16)

scheme of things, this is hardly worth mentioning, unless you wish to discredit
a certain line of inquiry without examining it, which is the objective of
disinformation. Not a worthy endeavor for any journalist!

Federal Reserve to buy $60 billion of Treasury bills

11 - The Federal Reserve is poised to begin at least a six-month operation to
buy about $60 billion of Treasury bills per month, as the central bank seeks to
ease cash shortages that caused a recent spike in the overnight cost of
borrowing.
The
announcement on Friday sent three-month bill yields sharply lower, dropping from
a high of 1.7% to a low of 1.62%. The size of the operation shocked Wall Street
analysts who had expected the central bank to be more conservative.
“They
are going for it,” said Ralph Axel, an interest rate strategist at Bank of
America. “They are hitting this hard. I think it’s the right thing to do.”
The
Federal Open Market Committee said it had instructed the New York Fed to begin
buying short-dated Treasury bills at a rate of approximately $60 billion per
month, beginning next Tuesday and continuing through until the second quarter
of next year.

north of Donetsk which is routinely attacked by Ukrainian forces with shelling
and heavy machine gun fire, I meet a man standing outside his home, where he
lives with his wife, roughly 600 metres from the
front line. To my question about where his home has been damaged he laughs,
“Many times. Which house hasn't been? The roof, the wall...
from mortar fire and heavy machine gun fire.” His replies are in line
with the others I've spoken with: things got worse after Zelensky
became president; the attacks are daily; where would he leave to? He is in favour of joining Russia. “We should go to Ukraine, which
damaged my house? I'm Russian, this is Russian land. Everyone who knows history
knows this. Of course I want to join Russia! In earlier times, before the war,
I didn't care either way. But after all Ukraine did what it has done,
absolutely I want to be a part of Russia. I can't imagine being back in
Ukraine. Anyway, most of the people here would be killed as 'separatists'. A
known Ukrainian politician (Boris Filatov) said: 'At the beginning, give them what they want, later hang
them.' I ask if he has anything to say to a Western audience. At first he says
there's no point, people already know, the West gives
money to Ukraine... “The snipers use US rifles, if they gave less money it
would be better.” But later in our conversation he adds: “Going back to the
question of a message to the West...You remember WW2. Why do you support Nazis
if you remember WW2? Why do you now support Nazis. Openly Nazis. They wear swastikas. Why is Europe silent?
Everyone comes here and agrees with me, but nothing changes. OSCE shouts, but
when they are under fire, they are silent, they don't say that Ukraine attacks
them.”

Imagine a
day where every child born in a hospital gets ranked on whether or not their
parents will be good enough parents to take care of them, and a risk score is
attached to that child based on how the government views the child’s parents.
If the
risk score is too low, the parents do not get to take their child home. The
child is seized by the government and assigned new parents through the
multi-billion dollar foster care system.
Does this
sound like something terrible from a science fiction movie? Or something that
might happen in other tyrannical countries where parents have little or no
choice over how their children are raised?
This
system is actually already in place and is already being used in many states
all across the U.S.
Richard
Wexler from the National Coalition for Child Protection Reform published
an excellent
piece last week on the topic of “Predictive Analysis” in child
welfare, and how Allegheny County, which includes Pittsburgh and surrounding
suburbs, is now using a system like this to label every child born in the county
with a “risk score” which supposedly tells Child Protective Services how likely
parents are to abuse their newborn children.
From Pittsburgh’s
child welfare agency goes full Orwell:
It is perhaps the ultimate Orwellian nightmare: From the moment
your child is born, the child and family are labeled with a “risk score” – a
number that supposedly tells authorities how likely you are to abuse your newborn.
The big government agency that slaps this invisible scarlet number on you and
your newborn promises it will be used only to decide if you need extra help to
raise your child, and the help will be voluntary.
But once you’re in the database, that score stays there forever.
And if, someday, the same big government agency wants to use the score to help
decide you’re too much of a risk to be allowed to keep your child, there is
nothing to stop them. The scarlet number may haunt your family for generations.
The fact that your child was supposedly born into a “high risk” family may be
used against the child when s/he has children.
Welcome to the dystopian future of child welfare – and childbirth
– in metropolitan Pittsburgh, Pa.
As we
have reported in previous articles, in places where Predictive Analysis software
is used for risk assessment for child abuse, poor minorities are targeted as
more likely to have a high risk score.

Trump admits US killed millions in war based
on lies

the storm of denunciations—extending from right-wing Republicans to the
Democratic Party, the New York Times
and the pseudo-left Jacobin
magazine—of his decision to pull US troops out of Syria, President Donald Trump
issued an extraordinary tweet on Wednesday in defense of his policy:
“The
United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the
Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded.
Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS
THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE ... IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY! We went to war
under a false & now disproven premise, WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION.”
Trump’s
Twitter account has dominated the US news cycle ever since he took office.
Tweets have introduced fascistic new policies on immigration, announced the
frequent firings of White House personnel and cabinet members and signaled
shifts in US foreign policy.
Last
month, amid the mounting of an impeachment inquiry, which the Democratic
leadership in Congress has focused exclusively on “national security” concerns
stemming from Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the US
president set a new personal record, tweeting 800 times.

Bush
should be treated as a pariah not because he is a Republican or a conservative,
but because he caused the deaths of thousands of innocent people and tortured
hundreds of others.
Yet Ellen’s
specific argument in defense of her friendship with the former president is
both nonsensical and offensive. No one is suggesting that she shouldn’t be pals
with a conservative or a Republican. Bush’s beliefs are irrelevant here;
his actions are what matters. He was one of the most destructive presidents in modern
American history; a man who has never been held to account for a long litany of
crimes, misdeeds, and abuses of power committed during his two bloodstained
terms in office. The reason “43” should be treated as a pariah is not because
he is a Republican or a conservative, but because he caused the deaths of
thousands of innocent people and tortured hundreds of others.

Udo
Ulfkotte's book Gekaufte Journalisten was scheduled to come out in
English some two years ago, under the
title Journalists
for Hire: How the CIA Buys the News—and then it didn't, and never
has. On Amazon you'll find
that
a few hard copies are (ostensibly) for sale at prohibitive prices, $900 or
$1,000; and that, if you should order
one
of them (as someone generously offered to enable me to do), the vendor will
inform you that the book is not
available
after all. (Such, at least, was my experience, not once but twice.)
In
any case, here's a video of a talk that Ulfkotte gave on the subject in 2015.
He talks mainly about the corruption
of
the press through bribery of various kinds, managed by the CIA and BND (German
intelligence). Toward the
end
of the part that's subtitled (about the first 48 minutes) he also talks about
his (highly controversial) books on
the
immigration crisis in Germany. Those rightist works have been deployed to cast
him as a crank given to
(what
else?) "conspiracy theory"—which, for all I know, they may well be;
but I for one would like very much to
read
his book on journalists, and find this lecture whole credible, and eye-opening.
Ulfkotte
died, at 57, of a heart attack (reportedly), a few years after that forbidden
book came out in Germany.

Epstein was an Israel intelligence operation, entraping

I have long
argued that pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was clearly an intelligence agent and
that he was most likely working for the Israeli external service Mossad. My belief was based on the nature of his activity,
which suggested that he was able to blackmail important Americans using the sex
tapes that he had been able to make at his Manhattan mansion. Put that together
with the existence of his fake Austrian passport, as well as former Miami federal attorney Alexander
Acosta’s comments and it would seem that an
intelligence connection is a sine qua non.
Acosta was particularly damning. When asked “Is the Epstein case going to
cause a problem [for confirmation hearings]?” he replied “…that I had just one
meeting on the Epstein case.” He’d cut the non-prosecution deal with one of
Epstein’s attorneys because he had “been told to back off,” that Epstein was
above his pay grade. “I was told Epstein belonged to intelligence and to leave
it alone.”
The answers to those remaining questions about Epstein are still lacking
even though he is gone, but one fears that the authorities will be disinclined
to further investigate a dead man. It appears that no one in the various
investigative agencies or the mainstream media has been interested in what
Acosta meant, even though it would be simple enough to ask him. Who told him to
back off? And how did they explain it? And then there is Epstein’s Austrian
passport. Was the document fake or real, with a real name and photo
substitution or alternation of both picture and name? How did he get it?
Austrian passports are highly desirable in intelligence circles because the
country is neutral and its holders can travel just about everywhere without a visa.
What Epstein did and how he did it was an intelligence operation in
support of Mossad. There is no other viable
explanation for his filming of prominent politicians and celebrities having sex
with young girls. Recruiting and running American movers and shakers like Bill
Clinton, with his 26 trips on the Lolita
Express, former Governor Bill Richardson, or former Senator George
Mitchell are precisely the types of “agents of
influence” that the Mossad
would seek to coerce or even blackmail into cooperation.
Other compelling evidence for a Mossad
connection came from Epstein’s relationship with Ghislaine
Maxwell, who reportedly served as his key procurer of young girls. Ghislaine is the daughter of Robert Maxwell,
who died or possibly was assassinated in mysterious circumstances in 1991.
Maxwell was an Anglo-Jewish businessman, very cosmopolitan in profile, like
Epstein, a multi-millionaire who was very controversial with what were regarded
as ongoing ties to Mossad. After his death, he was
given a state funeral by Israel in which six serving and former heads of
Israeli intelligence listened while Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir eulogized: “He
has done more for Israel than can today be said.”

The
world’s most prolific assassins, regime changers and disinformation specialists
have been given free rein to recruit and shape curriculum at the largest
Black higher education system in the nation.
“The
Democratic Party’s Black minions have insanely embraced the agency as part of
the ‘resistance’ to Trump’s raging racism.”
The
Southern University System has opened its arms to the CIA with an
agreement to allow the agency to recruit operatives and shape
classroom workshops and curriculum on the system’s five historically Black
campuses in Louisiana. According to a press release featuring the smiling faces
of Southern University president-chancellor Ray Belton and agency
operatives, the super-spooks hope to “foster ongoing relationships with
key university staff and personnel” and gain access to “a qualified and diverse
applicant pool.” University chief Benton -- the “Spook Who Opened the Door,”
not to be confused with “The
Spook Who Sat by the Door ,” the Black insurrectionary novel
and movie – said the CIA connection enhances Southern’s
“public-private partnerships portfolio.” He praised the “reputable stature” of
the CIA as “an asset to the university, students and faculty.”
The
Southern University-CIA collaboration is a gift from President Trump, the first
of many in-plain-sight CIA infiltrations of Black higher education envisioned
under his White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and
Universities. Defenders of hard-pressed HBCUs will doubtless offer an “any port
in a storm” excuse for subjecting young Black minds and underpaid faculty to
the enticements of global Murder Incorporated – the assassins of Patrice Lumumba
and countless other freedom fighters, as well as the planet’s most accomplished
psychological warfare specialists. Some Negroes are capable of excusing
anything – and do.

The
White House initiative to foist the CIA on Black colleges pre-dated revelations
that a CIA agent assigned to the executive mansion fingered Trump as attempting
to coerce the Ukrainian government into reopening an investigation of
Democratic Party presidential contender Joe Biden’s son’s suspicious dealings
in that country. The Democrats hope to make the charge the basis of impeachment
proceedings, having failed to make the case for collusion between Trump, “the
Russians” and Wikileaks in the public airing of Democratic National Committee
dirty linen during the 2016 campaign. “Russiagate” was the Democratic Party’s
excuse for losing to the Republican who they thought was the easiest to beat.
But the CIA is the chief conspirator, the guiding hand in the still-active mass
psychological warfare operation against a president considered by the Deep
State to be far too undependable to manage the Empire (for example, Trump’s
repeated, but clumsy and partially stymied efforts to disengage from the CIA-directed
jihadist war against Syria). The CIA agent detailed to the White
House is now hailed by Democrats and their corporate media as a
“whistleblower,” when the only CIA agents that can be considered whistleblowers
are those that blow the whistle on their own agency. Meanwhile, as Danny
Haiphong writes in this issue of BAR, the real whistleblowers,
“Julian Assange, Chelsea Manning, and Edward Snowden remain in prison or exile
as enemies of the state.”

Yet again, we have a financial crisis in Europe. After the bailouts in Greece and Portugal we are told that Italy, once described as “too big to fail”, is once again on the verge of bankruptcy and the rest of the EU will be forced to ride in to rescue it.
Apparently the financial press has it in for the Italians. We have been seeing similar prophecies of pending doom since 2016. The argument being that Italy is being slowly destroyed by the Euro, as its essential lack of competitiveness cannot be offset by manipulation of the lire, as previously. There is now a revival of talk about inventing a parallel currency to keep the country afloat, even though this idea has been dismissed by the European Commission
Yet that same financial press seems less able, or at least less willing, to explain the positive indicators of the Italian economy: falls in bankruptcies, seemingly low inflation, a widening trade surplus and the best unemployment figures for five years
So maybe it isn’t all doom and gloom after all: the national airline Alitalia may be going bankrupt, but plenty of big carriers want to buy it, which they wouldn’t if it had no commercial potential within Italy.

been appointed to the position of president of the European Central Bank (ECB)
effective November 1, 2019
France’s
president Emmanuel Macron acting on behalf of powerful banking
interests was instrumental in Ms. Lagarde’s
nomination. Praised by the Western media, Lagarde was
also endorsed by Wall Street and the US Federal Reserve.
What media
reports fail to mention is that Lagarde is a
corrupt official involved in financial fraud. She has a criminal record.
Is the Eurozone in danger? Financial fraud is embedded at the
highest levels of political and economic decision-making. A senior official in
high office with a criminal record can easily be manipulated. Indelibly this
will affect the way she manages the ECB, with potential impacts on the very
fabric of monetary policy.
Lagarde’s appointment to head the ECB has not been a matter of
debate or concern. EU citizens have not been informed.
She is an
obedient instrument of the financial and banking establishment which controls
both the IMF and the European Central Bank. The European Parliament is silent.
On December 20,
2016, A French court found IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde
guilty of “negligence” in relation to a multimillion Euro fraud while she was France’s
Finance Minister in 2008. She is said to have approved “an award of €404m
($429m; £340m) transfer to businessman Bernard Tapie,
[a crony of president Sarkozy] for the disputed sale
of a firm.”
International
Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde
has been convicted over her role in a controversial €400m (£355m) payment to a
businessman.
French judges
found Ms Lagarde guilty of negligence for failing to
challenge the state arbitration payout to the friend of former French President
Nicolas Sarkozy [Bernard Tapie].
The 60-year-old,
following a week-long trial in Paris, was not given any sentence and will not
be punished.

The Court
of Justice of the Republic, a special tribunal for ministers, could have
given Ms Lagarde up to one-year in

vaccines really as safe as they're marketed to be?
We
are constantly told that vaccines are safe and effective and that there’s
nothing to worry about. This simply isn’t the case, and it’s a hard-to-swallow
truth that many people refuse to acknowledge. Mass marketing
campaigns portray vaccines in a ‘God-like’ light, and the science is being
ignored. The truth is that vaccines are actually exempt from double blind
placebo controlled studies and they have not been put through appropriate
safety testing. Furthermore, a number of concerns have been raised about
vaccine safety by a number of scientists arounds the world. I like to use aluminum
as an example. A study published in 2011 makes
the issue quite clear, stating, “Aluminum is an experimentally demonstrated
neurotoxin and the most commonly used vaccine adjuvant. Despite almost 90 years
of widespread use of aluminum adjuvants, medical science’s understanding about
their mechanisms of action is still remarkably poor.” Fast forward nearly a
decade later and scientists have now shown that injected aluminum does not exit
the body, it actually sticks around and gets carried by specific cells into
distant organs and into the brain where it can be detected after injection (source)(source).
Multiple studies have emphasized these findings, and the studies do nothing but
trigger silence from big pharma as well as our federal health regulatory
agencies.

Federal
health regulatory agencies like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) have a long history of traceable corruption and not responding to
inquiries made by scientists. One example comes from
a pilot study by the Federal Agency for Health Care Research
(AHCR) to test the efficiency of a state-of-the-art machine counting (AI)
system on data records from the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institution.
The
main doctors involved with the study were Michael Klompas, M.D.
and Lazarus, Ross, MBBS, MPH, MMed, GDCompSci.
Klompas
is a Professor of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Lazarus
was a Harvard Medical School professor for 11 years, and was a professor there
during this pilot study.
Preliminary
data was collected from June 2006 through October 2009 on 715,000 patients, and
1.4 million doses (of 45 different vaccines) were given to 376,452 individuals.
Of these doses, 35,570 possible reactions (2.6 percent of vaccinations) were
identified. This is an average of 890 possible events, an average of 1.3 events
per clinician, per month. This data was presented at the 2009 AMIA conference.
This
completely contradicts the CDC’s claim that 1/1,000,000 people are injured from
vaccines.
The
doctors also bring up something very important, and that’s the fact that
investigators from the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS)
participated on a panel “to explore the perspective of clinicians, electronic
health record (EHR) vendors, the pharmaceutical industry, and the FDA towards
systems that use proactive, automated adverse event reporting.”
The
doctors emphasize how “fewer than 1% percent of vaccine adverse events are even
reported. So, theoretically, that 1/39 number discovered from the data
mentioned above is actually a lot greater given the fact that many adverse
events aren’t even reported.
As
the authors state:
Low
reporting rates preclude or slow the identification of “problem” drugs and
vaccines that endanger public health. New surveillance methods for drug and
vaccine adverse effects are needed. Barriers to reporting include a lack of
clinician awareness, uncertainty about when and what to report, as well as the
burdens of reporting: reporting is not part of clinicians’ usual workflow,
takes time, and is duplicative. Proactive, spontaneous, automated adverse event
reporting imbedded within EHRs and other information systems has the potential
to speed the identification of problems with new drugs and more careful
quantification of the risks of older drugs. (source)
What’s
really telling is that the doctors state that there was never an opportunity to
perform system performance assessments due
to the fact that “the necessary CDC contacts were no longer
available and the CDC consultants responsible for receiving data were no longer responsive to
our multiple requests to proceed with testing and evaluation.”

The U.S. media get yesterday's talks between U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan all wrong. Those talks were just a show to soothe the criticism against President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw U.S. troops from northeast Syria.
The fake negotiations did not change the larger win-win-win-win plan or the facts on the ground. The Syrian Arab Army is replacing the Kurdish PKK/YPG troops at the border with Turkey. The armed PKK/YPG forces, which had deceivingly renamed themselves (vid) "Syrian Democratic Forces" to win U.S. support, will be disbanded and integrated into the Syrian army. Those moves are sufficient to give Turkey the security guarantees it needs. They will prevent any further Turkish invasion.

Motoko Rich's piece on the impact of Typhoon Hagibis,
on p. A4 of today's paper.
Down in the
second half of the 8th paragraph, Rich makes this brief, vague reference
to the site that must be on the mind of every thinking
person:
"In
Fukushima, which was hit by the nuclear meltdown that
followed an earthquake
and tsunami in 2011, households in several communities were
isolated by floodwaters."
And that's
it. Our "newspaper of record" gives us plenty on the old folks
evacuated from
their residence in Kawagoe, and a bit on the "dramatic
rescues" that took place
elsewhere in Japan—Fukushima noted among several other sites
where such thrilling
"rescues" took place—but nothing on the
radioactive waste washed out to sea.
Here's a
piece about it from a real reporter from the Taiwan News, which, on
this
urgent subject, functions as a real newspaper should, while we
get nothing on it
from the Times, either in the actual newspaper or
online (at least that I've been able
to find).
Those
multitudes of children terrified of their "extinction," and whose
protests have
been getting so much reverential coverage in the Times,
should consider massing at the
Gray Lady's
front door, with pitchforks.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — As Typhoon
Hagibis hammered Japan on Saturday (Oct. 12),
thousands of bags containing radioactive waste have reportedly been carried
into a local Fukushima stream by floodwaters, potentially having a devastating
environmental impact.
According to Asahi Shimbun,
a temporary storage facility containing some 2,667 bags stuffed with
radioactive contaminants from the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster was
unexpectedly inundated by floodwaters brought by Typhoon Hagibis.
Torrential rain flooded the storage facility and released the bags into a
stream 100 meters away.
Officials
from Tamara City in Fukushima Prefecture said that each bag is approximately
one cubic meter in size. Authorities were only able to recover six of the bags
by 9 p.m. on Oct. 12, and it is uncertain how many remain on the loose while
the possible environmental impact is being assessed.

There's some
question as to how many bags of radioactive waste from Fukushima were washed
out to sea by Typhoon Hagibis. While theTaiwan News headlined the claim (in
the piece I sent out yesterday) that 2,667 of such bags were washed away, Asahi
Shinbun, quoting the Tamura city government, reports
that only some of that number were affected:
According to the
Tamura city government, the bags were among 2,667 that have been stored
temporarily at a site in the Miyakoji-machi district
here [emphasis added].

Whatever the
exact number, the typhoon's impact on Fukushima is, to put it mildly, a
matter of grave concern, as Fairewinds
notes in the alert below, which offers more detail about those "bags," each
holding over a ton of toxic matter, and yet (as Asahi Shinbun
reports) they were not properly secured by
the authorities ahead of time.
By any proper
journalistic standard, then, this is a newsworthy story—and one that the
New York
Times continues to ignore, even in its piece on Fukushima in
today's paper:
"Fukushima,
Beaten Down by Nuclear Disaster, Takes Big Typhoon Hit." That long
article, by Motoko Rich and Hisako Ueno, deals mainly
with the emotional toll of Fukushima's legacy on the people living there, with
not one word devoted to the nuclear fallout (so to speak) from Typhoon Hagibis.
What explains
this silence, not only by our "newspaper of record" but by the US
press
across the board?
Is it to protect the nuclear industry, and/or Japan's economy? Whatever the
reason, this long blackout is indefensible, especially from a "free
press" that purports to care about the Earth, and
our survival on it.

This
presidency looks like the manic days that presaged the fall of Rome
In days gone
by, I used to compare the Trump presidency with the Arab dictatorships. He took
preposterous pleasure in the company of Egypt’s Sisi
(60,000 political prisoners) and his inane ramblings had much in common with
those of Muammar Gaddafi, who also “authored” a book he never wrote but whom
Trump never met (albeit that Tony Blair and Gaddafi kissed each other on the
cheek). But over the past week, I’ve begun to realise
that the crackpot in the White House has much more in common with ancient Rome.
My former
classics professor once told me – when I melodramatically called him on my
mobile phone from the original Roman forum during the US occupation of Iraq
under George W Bush – that the Romans were a “manic” people, but that they
would have been pretty unimpressed with the American handling of the Iraqi
campaign.
He was right.
But I am now convinced that there is something distinctly “manic” about the
Trump presidency. The hatred, the threats, the fury, have much in common with
both the Roman republic (Rome’s version of popular “democracy”) and the Roman
empire, when quite a number of emperors showed themselves to be just as insane
as Trump.
Cato the
Censor, a dangerous man, would end each of his speeches in Rome with the words Carthago delenda est.
“Carthage must be destroyed”. Is this not exactly the language of Trump? Did
Cato got what
he wanted. Carthage was indeed razed, its people sold into slavery, although
its lands were not in fact sown
with salt as English historians would later claim. So far, Trump has been more
Cicero than Cato, Pompeo more Pliny than Pompey. So far.
But the
American retreat from Syria, its army’s greatest disgrace only ghosted
over by its new role as Saudi Arabia’s mercenaries – for the new US military
arrival in the kingdom is to be paid for by the regime which butchered Jamal Khashoggi – has dark echoes in antiquity.
