Organizing for Grassroots Globalization April 18-20, 2001

On April 21, a binational protest against the FTAA negotiations in Canada will occur on the US/México border. During the days leading up to this historic event, Exploring California will be organizing a Solidarity Tour in the Tijuana - San Diego Area. The US/México border is ground zero in terms of what globalization's effects have been, and is a poignant example of what could happen to the rest of the Americas if the FTAA becomes a reality. Join us on this tour to witness first hand how the NAFTA has impacted communities on both sides of the border. Learn first hand why people are protesting the expansion of corporate-led free trade and its attack on environmental, labor, public health, and immigrants' rights. Develop relationships with local NGO's by participating in various projects they have created to improve their quality of life. Become part of the growing grassroots globalization movement, which is mobilizing to put economic, social, political and environmental justice at the center of international policy.

Note: Spanish language skills are highly recommended as you will be working closely with NGO's in Tijuana.
